Isn't it always like that, the person who wants the cat the least ends up bonding with it the most?

It really is always like that. Take it from Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem where a void cat was wandering a neighborhood. A couple ends up adopting this void cat a week after their first encounter, despite the husband saying "no more cats." The Cat Distribution system said, "cute story." When the cat distribution system wants to give you a cat from the universe, there's little to nothing you can do about it, just like in this story. They tried and tried to catch this little void, but he just kept running away from them. Their neighbor ended up having better luck, but somehow this void still ended up with them. It was a shock for the wife when she thought her husband didn't want a cat, and then she walks into their home and sees him cuddling up with the little guy. His name is Onyx, and he's their new void kitten at 7 weeks old! 

Once you decide to give up your pet, any claim of ownership instantly evaporates.

Sorry, we don't make the rules. 

We can't imagine how tough it must be to discover someone in your household is allergic to a beloved pet, and we don't even want to try to imagine what we would do in this scenario. There is simply no correct answer or right way to go about it.

If the only solution you can find is to rehome the pet, it might be a good idea to find a friend or family member who can take the beloved furriend in. That way, you will know that your companion is in good hands, and you will still have a chance to visit them whenever it is possible.

That is what the owners below did with their cats, after one of their kids developed a heavy allergy to them. They couldn't really rehome their own kid, so finding a new, loving family for the cats was the only possible solution. This led them to turn to close family members and ask them to take the cats in, and luckily, these family members happily stepped up and adopted the furry felines.

For 4 years, these cats lived happily with their new family, while their previous owners, along with their non-allergenic kids, came to visit from time to time and kept the relationship going. That worked out great, until the allergic kid went off to college, and the previous owners decided it was time for them to take the cats back. According to them, the cats were only temporarily placed with a new family, and they always planned to take them back once the allergy was no longer in the way. However, according to the not-so-new owners, they legally adopted the cats 4 years ago, and they have no plans of letting them go now.

When you're off at work, things are going on in your home that you would never imagine or dream of, and it's all because of the magic your cat holds. Do you ever come home and things just seem…off? Like you know you left that sock somewhere else, or you put your shoes back in your closet. But you come home and it's as if something is changed, as if someone has been there. Well, we're here to inform you that it's your meowgical cat. But don't be afraid, they're all good wizards and witches! 

An orange = a one brain cell. 

Yes, sometimes they do really live up to their nickname. Someone posted in Reddit's r/CatDisctributionSystem that her coworker came into the office and told everyone how she saw an orange cat go underneath a car in the parking lot. Panicked, the woman went down to see if she could help. She did end up getting this orange cutie out from under the car, and she had to stick her arm up inside the car. She is taking him home in a copy paper box. He's skinny but will be well fed. He's cuddly, sweet, and will be a brother to her current cat, Bean. If you're someone who likes cats, orange cats, cars, or anything else, then you'll like this story below. 

It only takes one meow to bring back years of memories.

Cat lovers know that saying goodbye to a neighborhood stray is often one of the hardest parts of caring for community cats. Stories like this are exactly why so many people spend time scrolling through Reddit's r/feral_cats subreddit, where a chance encounter years later can feel like winning the feline lottery. Not many people expect to run into a beloved stray years after they last saw them, especially after moving away.

Three years ago, this purrson met a scruffy old tomcat sleeping in a stairwell near their apartment. He was skinny, dirty, and cautious around people, but a few meals and some patience helped him come out of his shell. Before long, he was trotting up the stairs for food, asking for rubs, and greeting his favorite human with a deep, chirpy meow that was impossible to forget. The friendly tomcat never officially became a house cat, but he quickly became a neighborhood favorite.

As time passed, he stopped showing up as often and eventually disappeared altogether. After moving away, his hooman assumed they had seen the tomcat for the last time.

Then came the surprise reunion.

While visiting the neighborhood, they spotted a scruffy cat lounging outside. One familiar chirpy meow stopped them in their tracks. After comparing old photos from 2023, there was no doubt about it. It was the same cat. 

Some cats wander off, but every now and then they come back just long enough to remind us they're doing okay.

Who was impolite at this family graduation party: a guest, or the host? 

It's graduation season, a wonderful time of year for both grads and their proud families. After working hard for 4 years, these kids are ready to celebrate their accomplishments and tell their family members about what they're planning next in their future. 

Graduation parties are often huge backyard affairs, filled to the brim with family members, friends, and other wellwishers. These parties are often fairly casual, just a cookout outdoors so everyone can soak in the warm summer weather. Often plus-ones are encouraged: the more wellwishers, the better. 

But, as you may know, being a plus-one when you barely know the people at the function can be incredibly awkward. As a teenager, who's in an awkward, shy phase of life, it can be downright hard to endure an entire party of meeting random aunts and uncles for the first time. 

However. This guest had such a poor interaction with the host that she literally left the party to go sit in her car! 

No one can agree about the situation, and it sparked an interesting conversation about the roles of party etiquette between a host and a guest. 

Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. 

That's the lesson of restaurants who've experienced virality are learning. While it may be surprising, these eateries do not actually want to attract hordes of customers only coming because they're viral. It turns out there are some pretty good reasons for that. 

It wasn't always like this. There are plenty of theories about how achieving virality will draw in customers to your restaurant. You might use trendy ingredients, or have a cute-shaped food item that you're known for. You might offer a luxurious experience that the Instagrammers and TikTokers of the world will flock to. If Dubai Chocolate is the latest trend and your coffee shop starts selling a photogenic coffee variation of it, you might just draw in tons of customers based off of the trend.

Cats treat the end of a long weekend like a personal betrayal.

Cats really know how to hide from responsibilities after a long weekend. The second the relaxing part ends, they disappear into blanket forts, cardboard boxes, laundry piles, and random corners where nobody can expect anything from them. One minute they are racing around the house causing chaos, and the next they are tucked away somewhere cozy pretending the outside world no longer exists.

Some cats act like they completely overdid it during the long weekend too. They spend hours hiding under blankets or squeezing themselves behind couch cushions like little furry introverts recovering from too much social interaction. Meanwhile humans are unpacking bags, cleaning up, and trying to get life organized again while the cat has already decided none of that applies to them.

The sleepy little faces always make it even better. Cats look deeply exhausted by the idea of returning to normal life despite spending most of the weekend lounging around demanding snacks. Then somebody interrupts their hiding spot and suddenly there is an offended little stare peeking out from under a blanket like the disturbance ruined their entire recovery process.

The cats might actually have the right idea. Hiding under soft blankets, ignoring responsibilities, and waiting until snacks appear sounds pretty purrfect after a long weekend.

Is the bride-to-be overreacting, or is she correct in thinking that her fiancé's bachelor party plans are a bit odd?

In fairness to this lady, whose sister shared her sentiments on the matter in Reddit's r/AmIOverreacting subreddit, it is difficult not to be suspicious when your male fiancé chooses to spend his bachelor party exclusively with his closest female friends. As the sister implies in her retelling of the drama, he has plenty of guy friends (including his brother) that he could have invited to join him. His choice to spend that special weekend with only women was certainly eyebrow-raising for the woman he was actually marrying.

Of course, we don't want to be too gendered in our thinking here. I'd like to believe that any person could be platonic friends with any other person. However, given historical patterns of socialization that are outside all of our control, one can empathize with the bride's conflicted feelings on the matter. 

Why is it always Monday that's the most meowing annoying day of the week?

Some weeks are rough, but Mondays are always the special beginning of the week that, frankly, not everyone is ready for. It's tough starting another week, especially after a weekend full of nothing but cat cuddles and sweet feline time. Because these are the wholesome weekends cat pawrents spend with their feline friends. And as cat pawrents ourselves, we can 100% admit we won't have it any other way.

But then comes Monday. Another week, another blah. Getting through a whole other week just to get to have another cat-filled weekend is a grueling task. But the thing is, as cat people and general feline fans, we have the best solution for getting over the Monday madness, turning it into Monday meowness. And that's the purr power of cat memes. All these feline funnies fill every cat person's heart with joy and laughter, getting us all ready to face the week bravely, until the weekend comes again.

Have you ever had a coworker who played with your time? That one who never shows up on time at scheduled meetings, that one who disappears when it's time to do a shared task, or that one who doesn't respect your working hours. In today's story, an employee gets tired of waiting for her coworker before she can leave the office exactly at the end of her shift. Not any longer. If your shift ends at 5:30, then 5:30 means 5:30, not when the next employee arrives and decides they feel ready to start doing their job. 

Scheduled times at the workplace matter. They exist for a reason, and they should be respected so that no one's workday is any longer than it has to be. Problems arise when responsible employees end up compensating for the habits of the less responsible ones. Because they end up doing more than what they should, but they care about it, so they won't leave everything unattended. They know someone has to actually do the job, so irresponsible employees often take advantage of the situation when they see that someone else is covering up for them. But that's really unfair. 

A vet office employee posted her workplace story on the Reddit coworker stories subreddit, commenting that every handover was a problem. Her coworker was never where she needed to be; she was elsewhere in the building, chatting with other colleagues while she kept waiting for her. Understandably, she didn't want customers to be affected, and she didn't want work to pile up and consequently leave her coworker in a difficult situation. She was being considerate. But over time, she got tired of the same situation happening every single day, so at that point, she realized it was a lack of respect for her time. She shouldn't be responsible for her coworker's irresponsibility. 

The solution was pretty simple: she stopped making her coworker's problem her own. She stopped sacrificing her time to compensate for her coworker's bad habits and let her deal with the consequences herself. And just like that, her coworker started respecting the schedule. The problem was never a lack of time, but a lack of consequences.

Mittens is a survivor, and part of us believes she fought so hard to stay alive so that she could spend her remaining years with the family that loved her from the beginning.

It's never an easy choice to rehome a pet. We'd like to believe that everyone always does it for the "right" reasons, but the reality is that most times, they don't. Rehoming a pet, in our opinion, should only be an option after all the other solutions have failed and the quality of the pet's life is suffering. After you've gone to the vet to rule out any medical issues, and certainly after you've tried making adjustments to the household to make them more comfortable. But that wasn't what happened to Mittens, the wholesome kitty from Reddit's r/cats community, who is the star of our story below.

Mittens was a family cat, but was unfurtunately rehomed due to the mother's toxic partner not wanting to live with a cat. The mom and her daughter never thought they would see Mittens again, but then again, cats never fail to surprise us with how resilient they can be. 8 years later, Mittens was returned by a couple who had been feeding her as a stray. They were worried about her, so they brought her into the vet, scanned her microchip, and found that the mom was still the contact listed there. The vet called the mother, who called her daughter, and both went immediately to pick her up. 

But here's the real kicker: people had been calling her "Bella", but as soon as the mother and daughter arrived, they called her "Mittens", and she immediately recognized her old family. Just that alone is enough to make us tear up.

Mittens is now 14 years old, and a survivor. They don't know how long she was a stray, but they do know that they're going to spend the last years of her life spoiling her rotten. Every day, she's working on getting healthier and adjusting back to the indoor life. 

The world may be full of bad news nowadays, but Mittens is a reminder that good things do happen, and they should be celebrated as much as pawssible to fend off the darkness.

Companies love solving problems the expensive way, especially when the cheap way involves actually listening to the people already in the roomThis is a story about a workplace that had all the answers sitting right in front of them, handed over repeatedly and for free, and still needed to pay a stranger fifteen thousand dollars to say the exact same things in a nicer font before anyone took it seriously. That is not a communication problem. That is a credibility problem, and the credibility apparently costs fifteen grand to rent.It's the classic hire person to do job then schedule meeting to talk about doing job then schedule another meeting to go over meeting about doing job then ask for agenda before meeting about meeting about doing job instead of letting do job then compline about no job being done so you end up paying 15 thousand dollars to a culture consultant, which is an obvious linkedin lingo made up title that trick company into paying you said 15 thousand dollars by the way. But that title is only a small part of the problem in this story, so I'll let it slide this time.

Who doesn't love a sweet thing like Cornbread?

Orange cats hold a special place in our hearts. They may be the most chaotic of our feline brethren, but they are also some of the sweetest cats we've ever met. Our second cat was an orange boy, named Cheeto, and we loved him from the second we saw him until his very last breath. Every day, we came home to some sort of disaster, from toilet paper being shredded, to even finding him with his head stuck in the wall (he made the hole, and then got stuck in it). Our lives with Cheeto were never boring, and looking back on it, we're purrfectly grateful for all of his shenanigans. Why? Because now that he's gone, they're all happy meowmories that help him live on in our hearts.

Cornbread, our orange cat below, did not get dealt the same hand of cards that Cheeto did. But thanks to Friends of Bear Cat Rescue, Cornbread now has a chance to live out his golden years with a family that truly appreciates him. He was abandoned by his previous owners when they moved and left outside to fend for himself. He got in quite a bit of trouble, even getting a nasty mouth infection that left him hungry, in pain, and confused. Worse than that, the neighbors shooed him off, meaning this sweet cat had nowhere to turn to until Friends of Bear Cat Rescue saved him.

One year later, Cornbread finally got what he's been craving this whole time: a family that loves him. His new pawrents saw his heart and decided to adopt him, and now he's happily following the sun around their house, and showing his hoomans all the appreciation he can for taking him in. It brings tears to our eyes to see Cornbread so full of joy and purrfect contentment. 

Give senior cats a chance if you're looking for a new cat. They just want somewhere safe to sleep and to give out their love until they can't anymore. Be like Cornbread's pawrents and adopt a Cornbread of your own one day!

Are we doing the right thing by being so individualistic?

This story breaks my heart, partly because I went through something similar and because, even looking at it from many different perspectives, it's still really hard to find an easy solution.

This manager knows that their company should be giving the employees raises, so why aren't they? 

As the wealth gap grows, there's an ever-increasing divide between employees and their bosses. While many employees make an okay-ish salary, maybe $50k or $75k, that's not what their bosses are making. Many CEOs and other higher-ups are raking in like, $250k per year or more! They're able to afford things like going on actual vacations, instead of staycations. They can afford luxurious meals, nice new cars, private schools for their kids. Meanwhile, their employees are hanging in there, but they can't exactly save for retirement or send their kids to summer camp. 

Even if higher-ups know about the monetary divide, they don't have to think about it too much. In between their 6 vacations a year, they'll pop into the office to cheer up the employees with a pizza lunch before dipping out again. They wouldn't know how to work a 40 hour week even if they tried. 

This boss can see right through their employer's nonsense. And this manager is appalled at the "solutions" being offered to the workers they supervise. 

How do you know for sure if you secured a job before you hand in a notice to your current workplace?

Some people learn the hard way the correct steps and their order before quitting a job and starting a new one. Here is a general guide in case you want to learn from others' mistakes:

Step one: Put yourself on the job market and interview for other companies. Don't say anything about it in your current workplace. Step two: After a (probably) long process of applying and interviewing, get to the final stage at a workplace of your choice. Still don't tell anyone at your current job about your intention to leave. Step three: Secure an offer and start negotiating your salary and conditions.

Now, here is where many people make their first mistake. They think that since they got an offer from another workplace, it might be time to tell their current employer that they intend to leave. However, without an actual signed contract with the new workplace, an offer is pretty much worthless, and definitely is not worth the risk of quitting your job for yet. It is only after step four that an employee should even consider handing in their notice:

Step four: Sign the contract with your soon-to-be new workplace and make sure it clearly states a start date that aligns with your timeframe. Then, and only then, should you schedule a meeting with your current employer and hand in your written resignation, along with your notice.

If it took you five months to notice that your cat was missing and do something about it, were you ever really the cat's owner?

We think that every cat owner in the world can agree that their cat running away is one of their worst fears. We know what our cats are like. We know how spoiled our cats are, how dependent our cats are on our love and care, even if our cats would deny it. We know it. How could they- when it took them five months to notice that their cat was missing and actually do something about it? It's lucky that the cat's new owner found him in time. It's lucky that they took him in and nursed him back to health. There's no telling how long he would have survived on his own like this. The last thing that should happen is that cat going back to the people who didn't care about him, and there is no question about that at all. 

Do you think he has a chance of turning things around with the company?

We tend to feel so alone in our anecdotes about devastating one-on-ones with our bosses. Frequently left with only the advice we can extract from our (also confused) colleagues, or from some random family member who works in a completely different field, when we could (ideally) start creating places to discuss and improve work-related issues. This Redditor, told us a nightmarish story involving soul-crushing feedback from HR, and a meeting that appears to be the prelude to getting fired. Scared already? When waking up on Monday morning, the most important thing to do is to start it on the right paw - with a whole bunch of hissterical cat tweets!
