Growing up in the 90s, we didn't have any accurate representations of queer people on TV. If there was a queer character, they were always a degrading stereotype: flamboyant for a gay man, and overly-masculine for a lesbian. This led to us feeling ostracized and extremely alone as we tried to navigate who we were as we matured through life. We struggled with feeling left out, and like there was no place for us in this world. School was awful, especially in our younger years when kids can be brutal to others for simply being different. 

Luckily, our differences weren't physical, unlike the boy that we're representing from Reddit's r/MadeMeSmile community, who was born with heterochromia and a cleft lip. Heterochromia is a condition where your eyes are different colors, and it's extremely rare. In today's world, this condition would be celebrated and even envied, but back then, any sort of difference made you an outsider and a pawssible victim for the mean kids to pick on. 

His name is Madden, and he's from Oklahoma.

Madden, like us, felt alone in his early years. His parents could see that he needed a companion, a friend who wouldn't judge him for his appearance. So, they took him to an animal shelter to adopt a family cat. Call it fate, call it destiny, call it whatever you want, but Madden found a cat with heterochromia and a cleft lip. Needless to say, Madden chose this cat without a second of hesitation.

Now the two are best friends, and neither of them ever has to feel alone again.

Cat people are the funniest people online.

Yeah, yes, this is definitely a legit date. No husband required."

Little do cat lovers know, the meowjority of feline dismay comes from feelings of delusion, not reality. Everyone's boss is talking about AI these days, but do any of those insolent morons realize that the only job AI is capable of replacing is theirs? 

Perhaps I'm a bit salty to the entire AI conversation, seeing as how my livelihood and financial well-being are determined by my ability to create, but it seems like AI buzzwords in the workplace are seriously misunderstood. Apparently, a thoughtless boss would do just that. And this guy went to Reddit's r/EntitledPeople to share his cousin's story of AI replacement, heeding a warning to the entire internet of the woes and worries of putting all of our eggs in the AI basket. 

At just a few ounces, Lucky was already showing the determination that would earn him his name.

Lucky's story is the kind that instantly grabs your heart. Posted in Reddit's r/kittens subreddit, this tiny kitten was discovered while his future family was picking up hay. He was found alone, squirming away from the rest of his littermates, with no mother cat in sight. Given how young and fragile he was, nobody expected him to survive the first night.

Two weeks later, Lucky is proving everybody wrong.

After being bottle-fed around the clock, the little fighter has grown to 11 ounces and developed quite the personality. He is eating well, growing steadily, learning to walk, and exploring the world through his newly opened eyes. According to his rescuer, he has already become the bossiest member of the household. He loves belly rubs, purrs the moment someone touches his sides, and grabs at fingers whenever he wants more attention.

What makes Lucky's story so special is how determined he seemed from the very beginning. Even when the odds were stacked against him, he kept fighting. The name Lucky feels fitting, but it is only part of the story. Luck may have brought him to the right people, but his own determination helped carry him through those difficult first days.

One thing cats are always going to do is stretch like they just completed a 12 hour shift doing manual labor.

Cats stretch like they are preparing for the most physically demanding event of their lives, even though they've spent the last fourteen hours asleep on a blanket. One tiny nap later and suddenly it is time for the full dramatic stretch routine. Front paws extended as far as possible, tiny toes spread out, back arched, and a huge yawn thrown in for extra flair.

Cats manage to stretch across an impossible amount of space. A ten-pound animal suddenly turns into a four-foot-long furry noodle taking up the entire couch. Cats act like stretching is an Olympic sport and they're training for gold.

Recently, TikToker Elliot Norris moved into a new home. His life has been remodeling and traveling, because he loves to travel. However, soon after moving in, he befriended a local stray cat. He started feeding her, and she started showing up several times a day. Then, all of a sudden, after coming home from a two-day trip, she comes by, goes right into his home, and starts to give birth in his guest room.

The birth went swimmingly, the kittens are all healthy and growing beautifully, and their mama has now found her furever home with Norris. 

How much does an ethernet cable cost? 

Even the "experts," who have only ever fixed a tech problem by wiggling a cord and blowing into the plug-end of the wire, know that an ethernet cable is the cheapest fix out there. IT teams have used them for decades as a quick fix for a tech problem, so when this database administrator noticed that his biggest problem with the system outage was a mere $5 ethernet cable, he rejoiced. 

He thought this would be an easy fix, so he sent his receipts to accounting to handle his expense report, but they asked him to take the longer, more labor-intensive route. The database technician took that rulebook logic and turned it into his own malicious compliance, sharing his story on Reddit's subreddit r/MaliciousCompliance, where users take orders quite literally (and maliciously, of course) to make a point. 

What could have been an easy $5 fix turned into a $200 ordeal for this company because they insisted on following the rules to the letter.

Strangely, not every human being has experienced the truest bliss of cradling a tiny, mewing kitten in the palm of their hand. While simultaneously worrying that you might crush this delicate, adorable flower, the kitten reminds you instantly that they're not to be trifled with, biting your fingers and scratching your forearms with enough force to take down an elephant. Yet, despite yourself, you must remain dignified and supurremely gentle. 

This feisty, sensitive, adorable kitten must be pawtected at all costs. 

If cat lovers weren't swayed by the charms of a kitten before ever holding it, once that furry feline touches your hands with their tickly whislers or nuzzles into the crook of your neck, it's all over. Why is this bride insisting that a friend snap pics of her big day for free, instead of paying a professional photographer? 

There are so many expenses when it comes to planning a wedding that the pressure can become overwhelming. You'll need to hire a caterer, a florist, a DJ, and pay for the venue, at minimum. And of course you can't skimp out on your photographer, because this day is a big deal. All your loved ones are coming to celebrate you: don't you want to document one of the most special and important days of your life? 

We love a Good Samaritan who saves a cat!

We can't imagine the stress and horror a person who has lost their cat goes through. Searching by foot, posting online, calling shelters and vet offices - cat pawrents would do anything to find their cats and bring them home. Cats are our family, and that's very clear. It was also clear to one woman whose cat was found by a kind man from the r/notmycat community. She searched for her cat for over 24 hours, and as cat pawrents ourselves, we can't even imagine what she had gone through.

Our beloved cat once fell from the third-floor window and disappeared. We were devastated, but that lasted for a couple of hours, until we found her under a bush, scared, confused, and hurt. We took her to the vet, of course, and it has been a good few years since then. But we can't imagine going through a 24-hour search, not knowing where our cat is.

What on earth compelled this 23-year-old to violate her roommate's trust like this?

There is a common perception that people in their early twenties make a series of unwise decisions that hopefully only build character. However, this woman's behavior not only reflects the poor decision-making skills many of us could identify with in those early years of adulthood, but it also reflects on her poor character overall.

Her roommate specifically told her that getting a German Shepherd was a bad idea, especially given how many hours they work during the day. However, the woman refused to listen, and the roommate came home to find, you guessed it, an innocent-looking German Shepherd husky mix running around in her apartment. She shared her frustrations online in Reddit's r/mildlyinfuriating community, where she was met with sympathy, solidarity, and even some suggestions as to how to get back at her friend.

The fact that the friend assumed it would be totally fine to shirk her responsibilities as a pet parent and leave them all to her roommate and significant other only goes to show that this is someone who hasn't yet been told no enough in her life. Clearly, she also has not grasped the concept of what it is to share space with someone. Decisions like these require all parties to agree prior to making any moves. 

If the roommate cannot respect that, then she does not deserve to have her wishes as a member of the household respected either. The only way for the woman who shared this story to get even would be to make her friend acutely aware that her actions have consequences. It might be difficult at first, but that means letting go of cleaning up after her messes. It means saying no to any dog-related duties in the apartment. It also means that she has earned the right to drastically change the communal vibe of the apartment too, if she wishes.

We've seen plenty of roommates overcome these kinds of shenanigans, but rarely do they end up staying friends at the end of it all. It's hard not to predict that the end of this friendship is nigh, but we can only hope for the best… at least for the German Shepherd. 

Sometimes, you find love in the most unexpected of places.

Firstly, we have to say that we are obsessed with pawrents who take their cats on stroller rides. It's so cute. And who knew that such a heartwarming activity could lead to one of the cutest rescues we've seen from Reddit's r/Kittens subreddit?

On one of her daily evening stroller walks with her orange cat, Floki, our cat lover below heard a kitten "screaming its head off" as they walked by. Thanks to Floki, who responded more loudly to the kitten the closer they got, she eventually found the seriously smol gray kitten hiding in a patch of tall grass in a dark alley.

There's never a "right time" to find a cat, especially a young one who, technically, still needs their mom to help them do basic things, like go to the bathroom. But, if we waited for the right time to do everything, we would never achieve anything in life. When there is an abandoned baby right there in front of you, you don't think about the proper timing. You act first and ask questions later.
