This was never supposed to be a second cat situation. 

It started as a completely unplanned decision. A friend posted about two abandoned kittens, and on impulse, this person decided to take one in. This wasn't part of the plan at all, especially after already adopting a cat they thought would be their one and only. But sometimes those "just this once" moments turn into something bigger.

Walter came in as a tiny rescue and settled in fast. What could have been a slow adjustment turned into an easy fit. The real surprise was the senior cat. In today's modern age, there's an app for everything, and this story revolves around an app designed to stop food waste at eateries. Restaurants will advertise a mystery bag of food, and they'll say you can pick it up at a specific time of day. You can get like, a dozen bagels for $5 this way. 

But that's the thing, is that the food is often random. The restaurant can say that if you order, you'll get a $5 bag of food that has a $20 retail value. 

It seems like customers generally get a good deal with the app, getting discounted (slightly old) food for cheap. 

Cat lovers around the world know the power and potency of the forbidden feline fluff. It is a material so enchanting, so intoxicating that even the most serious of dog lovers can find themselves drawn into the fluff.

But lucky for you cat lovers this forbidden fluff is safely tucked behind your screen and so the worst that can happen to you is that you end up smushing the screen to your face. Whereas in reality if you were to be put into a trance by said fluff and drawn in closer to touch it, you could very quickly find yourself in a situation that you might never come back from.

Many cat lovers claim that they would be more than ok with closing out their days on this planet having at least been able to experience the intense fluffiness of the feline belly. But we figure it is much more reasonable to enjoy it from the safety of a photo such that we might at least learn to try and control ourselves, thereby sparing our lives in a real life fluff encounter. 
 

Bosses sure do love to hire people to do a job and then refuse to let them do it their way.

Not to disrespect their authority and skill, but the whole reason one hires someone else to do a job is to let them do it. They can be guided and helped, but if one refuses to let employees try their ways, how do they expect the work to ever get better?

When an employee works at the same place for years, they probably know what they are doing by then. They have their routine, they did the whole 'try and error' thing, and they are sure of their methods and ways to get the work done in the best way possible. To have the boss come in and mess with the whole system is not only frustrating, but it's also quite insulting. It's a way for the boss to say, "I know you've put your heart and soul into this work for all these years, but I know better than you".

The boss in the story below basically said these words to his employee, who's been handling an annual event for years now. They know everything there is to know about planning the event, and they have developed the best methods to handle every single task at hand.

One of the most complicated tasks for the event is handling RSVPs and the data each guest provides, such as dietary restrictions and flight details. The hard-working employee built a well-structured Excel sheet for the committee, and they took a lot of pride in how well it worked. However, the boss decided on a different approach and deleted the employee's sheet. We always advise people to upgrade their cloud storage when they adopt a new cat, especially if it's their first one. Before having pets, you take a normal amount of pictures of everyday things, like your food that's purrfectly tasty, a "cheers" moment with friends, or a cool statue you saw on vacation. But once you adopt a pet, you start taking pictures of them all the time. We're not exaggerating. Sometimes, you'll just take a picture of them doing absolutely nothing just because you can (and because they're adorable, even when they're doing nothing).

Before you know it, you'll have thousands of photos of them clogging your phone storage, and only a handful of them are actually "good". We're not telling you to delete them, we'd never do that, but what if someone told you that you could only keep one? Do you have one photo of them that purrfectly represents their entire purrsonality? You could only share this one photo of them for the rest of their lives, could you do it?

There is such a thing as too much information. When WebMD came out, it made everyone believe that the five minutes of research about their symptoms was about the same as 8+ years of medical school. A small cough could mean that you had some purrfectly obscure diagnosis that only you could find. Don't get us wrong, sources of information like WebMD are very useful, but should always be verified with a doctor who actually did go to medical school.

Now, with the increasing popularity of AI, the same thing could happen. A treasure trove of information without proper context can lead to wildly different outcomes, but it can also catch the rare human errors that slip through the cracks. For example, just a few weeks ago, a man cured his doggo's terminal cancer by making a vaccine with the help of ChatGPT and other generative AI. You have to admit that that's pretty incredible.

One of the unfurtunate parts of being human is making mistakes, and those mistakes have consequences. One cat owner got a life-ending diagnosis for his fluffy feline, and was advised to let her pass as soon as possible, but something about the results just didn't make sense to him. So, he plugged in the results to ChatGPT, and that's when he discovered that the vet might be wrong. He went back in and demanded a new test, which ended up saving his cat's life. Seems that not everything around AI is terrible.

We cat people may come from many different backgrounds, cultures, and faiths, but we all have one belief we share in common - and that's of the existence of the Cat Distribution System. It's that meowsterious… body, entity, or office, maybe, that matches the cat in need to the right human that'll adopt them. This is why you hear of so many stories that go along the lines of "I didn't search for a cat, but this cat has found me. We're in love now." The CDS doesn't just send the cats over - they make sure, by some intricate fate weaving, probably, that the match is meowing magnificent. But this particular cat that appeared right after this family's senior cat had crossed the rainbow bridge had more than just the CDS surprise up her paw.

Did this former employee ask for what he was worth or did he overshoot it a little?

Most supervisors should know that when one of their employees sets aside time to have a chat, the possibility of a resignation could very well be on the horizon. This employee had recently been denied a promotion that he felt qualified for. He voiced this frustration to his boss, who ended up brushing it off and essentially doing nothing about it.

So why was this supervisor surprised when his employee told him that he would be resigning after two weeks? It could have been a combination of tunnel vision and hubris on the part of the employer. What's more amusing is that as soon as the employee handed in his letter of resignation, his now former boss almost immediately asked for him to stay on a bit longer. 

They ultimately agreed that a temporary contract would be the right fit and one that would be mutually beneficial for all involved. Then, the topic of the hourly rate came up, and both the employee and his supervisor were taken aback with the offers that both parties brought to the table.

Whenever we see cats adopting or befriending other animals, we always think that it's the cutest thing, but we've never known quite why that happens. Well, now we do. 

Despite the fact that people always call cats aloof and unfriendly, we, as people who actually follow cat content online, know that the opposite it true. Cats bond very hard with all kinds of animals. We have seen a cat adopt a bunny that was abandoned by its mother. We have seen a cat instantly befriend a dog who desperately wanted love, cuddling with him every night. We have seen a cat adopt a baby otter and raise it in an adorable but strange little relationship. 

It happens way more often than you would think it does. And every single time, we are so busy awwing at it and thinking that it's the cutest thing in the world, that we end up forgetting to wonder why it happens, what causes the cat to look at these itty bitty things as family rather than anything else. 

An ex-feral cat and a senior ex-fighting dog who hates cats… you would think that would never work. But somehow, the opposite is true, and these two became best friends. 

Opposites attract. That is what people say. And maybe that is why, despite the fact that cats and dogs are so, so different, they sometimes end up becoming best friends. Cats will bond with the dogs they grew up with. Dogs will bond with cats who are patient and open. There are enough differences for them to overcome in normal circumstances. 

In today's story, there was a lot more for these animals to overcome. The dog came from a complicated background and hates cats. The cat doesn't quite understand how to act like a cat, how to purr, how to show affection in ways that normal cats do. And yet, the two of them became best friends. How? We don't quite know. They just got adopted by the same person and somehow became each other's safe and comfort.

If there is one thing we absolutely cannot ignore, it is the sound of a cat meowing in distress. It doesn't matter where we are, which way we were headed, or whether or not we were in a hurry; if we hear a cat meowing loudly, we will find the sweet baby and make sure it is alright.

This rule has led us into back alleys, into trash cans, and underneath cars, and every single time, there was a sweet cat that needed our help, and we were ready to provide it. We have gotten stray cats out of truly messy situations simply because we listen to their cry for help, and we will continue to do so as long as we can. It takes five minutes out of our day, while it can save the furry feline's life. 

When the family in the story below heard the cry for help of a kitten in their house, they weren't sure where it was coming from in the beginning. It took them a while to figure out that the meowing was coming from the roof, but they still had hopes that the kitten that was making that distress signal was not alone and that its mom would come help soon. 

It wasn't long before they realized that the meowing kitten was alone, and that they were the only ones who could help it off the roof and back to safety. Together, they climbed on top of their home, got the kitten off the roof, and brought her back to solid ground. Luckily, this lovely family was not ready to say goodbye to the tiny kitten, as they could tell she still needed help and support. They gave her a shower, dried her off, and named her 'Roof' in their native language.

Alas, with nothing but a milk mustache and a breathy mew, kittens steal the hearts of cat lovers every day. 

Smol, cute, and forever demanding another round of dinner, cats will bite our ankles and break our favorite mugs, but they will always be revered as the angels who saved their hoomans. Because, despite the meows for late-night snacks and the laser pointer misfires, cats always want the best for their human companions, just as we do for them. 

What could go wrong when the neighbor's cat chooses your car as their favorite sleep spot? 

Cats have a particular worldview: what's theirs is theirs, and what's yours is also theirs. 

Every cat thinks they are the finest cat ever created, and everyone else is a peasant who should be pleased to be in the cat's presence. 

This is an excellent quality for cats to have, and it's cute to see which items and places they claim as their own. 

For example, maybe they really love sleeping on a bookshelf, and will knock down all your books in order to do so. They don't care that the books are your property, or that you want the books in that spot. The cat's needs come first! 

What are the lengths that people will go for a prime parking spot?

This 28-year-old recently moved into an apartment complex where tenants were granted parking spots but none of them were assigned. Naturally, some spots were more desirable than others, which inevitably led to conflict. Since property management refused to take part in helping mitigate any tension by assigning parking spots to residents, some tenants began battling it out for the three best parking spots just so they would not have to park their cars 60 more steps away. 

It turns out that it's remarkable how much time and energy tenants will expend in order to avoid having to park in a slightly less ideal spot. One would think that the amount of wasted anxiety, stress, and action over these three so-called "perfect" spots could have been used toward a better cause. In fact, these two neighbors in particular probably spent way more time and energy competing with one another than they would have to park in the other unassigned spots.

Cats do not believe in mornings. 

Cats are not morning people, and they make that very clear. Early hours are not for purrductivity. They're for pretending the world doesn't exist. If a cat is up, it's not because they want to be, it's because something interrupted their carefully scheduled nap cycle. You might be ready to start your day, but they're still fully committed to snooze mode.

The morning routine looks very different for them. Slow stretches, half-open eyes, and a general refusal to participate. You'll get a look that says this is not purrsonal. It's just too early. They move like everything is optional, taking their time, no rush, no concern for whatever you've got going on.

Even when they do get up, it's not exactly high energy. More of a soft launch into the day. A few steps, maybe a yawn, then right back to finding a new place to nap. It's less rise and shine and more rest and recline. The vibe stays firmly on the sleepy side.

By the time they're actually ready to function, you've already been awake for hours. They operate on their own schedule, and mornings just don't make the cut. For cats, the day really starts whenever they decide it does.

Apparently, neighbors must now "match each other's style" in order to live peacefully next to each other. 

The new neighbor in the story below really wants the fence between his house and the resident's next door to match the rest of the style around his home. Despite there already being a fence in place between the two houses, one that was built only two years ago, this new neighbor thought it was appropriate to demand its replacement with something that would match his own fence better.

The resident who built this fence wants to have a good relationship with their neighbors, and they want to avoid any possible strains, but paying for a brand new fence when there is nothing wrong with the current one is not something they can afford. So even if they wanted to make their new neighbor happy, they are not going to pay $1500 to make it happen.

He wasn't supposed to stay, but that changed quickly. 

Mr. Bingley came in as a rescue and somehow fit right in almost immediately. Just a week ago, he was tucked away in the garage, underweight and needing a little time to recover. It was meant to be temporary, just a safe place while he healed. But even then, it was obvious he wasn't going to stay just a rescue for long.

The biggest holdout was the husband. He was clear from the start. He didn't want a third cat. But then things started to change. First it was checking on Bingley in the garage. Then a treat here and there. Then asking how he was doing. By the time Bingley came inside, the decision had already been made without being said. Now he's fully attached, giving him kisses and acting like he was always part of the plan.

The rest of the house fell into place just as easily. The resident cats accepted him and the toddler jumped right in too, already playing with him like he's been there forever. It all went smooth for the new cat, especially one who just came in off the street.

The vet visit confirmed he's on the right track. A little underweight, a small cold, but otherwise healthy and improving. In a week, he went from a rescue in the garage to a cat that fits perfectly into the family, like he was always meant to land there.

There's something about a snowstorm that really just sends people over the edge, the unpredictability of it all, one second you're driving in a straight line and the next your car is sliding uncontrollably off the road. And that wet, damp weight of the snow just makes life feel somehow… heavier? Especially when you have a job to get to to make ends meet.

A lot of people are operating at the end of their rope, and it doesn't take much for them to lose hold. Sometimes people just need someone to blame too, and if you might find yourself on the receiving end of blame that isn't yours to shoulder, but has nowhere else to go.
