No one should work for free, not even job candidates!

It's always important to remember that just because you're looking for a job does not mean that you have to put in hours upon hours of unpaid labor in order to prove yourself worthy of employment. This developer had been looking for a new job opportunity for a while now and was sick and tired of having to carve out significant portions of his free time outside of work, doing assignments for future employers that they should already know and trust he was capable of completing.

He shared his new strategy for dealing with this phenomenon with the r/interviewhammer subreddit community. That strategy consisted of charging employers a flat fee any time they asked him to complete assignments that he knew would take longer than three hours to finish. Believe it or not, he actually saw results from this strategy.

These kitties are bringing purride, personality, and a little bit of chaos into June.

Have you ever walked into a retail store and thought to yourself, "How dare these employees sit down while they work?"

Neither did we. We honestly don't care if the person scanning our items in the supermarket is standing or sitting down; it truly doesn't say anything about their work ethic or the business. Actually, the opposite is true. If we go into a store and there is no chair in sight behind the register, we will probably judge the business owner, who, without a doubt, is the one behind the lack of chairs. 

Why are business owners or even managers so against letting their customer-facing employees sit down? What is it about sitting down that they deem unprofessional? Every other desk job comes with a chair, and surely the managers themselves allow themselves to sit during their own shifts, so why can't those who run the register sit down while they endlessly scan items?

When the employee shared their story in Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance Subreddit, those who read the story asked themselves the same questions. But to the credit of the employees in the story, they were not willing to let their new manager get away with his "no chairs" rule. When this guy first came into the store, talking about "professional appearance" and his new rule of removing the stools from the registers, the employees knew they had to act.

So, they did the one thing employees should always do when a new rule is brought to action: they turned to the company handbook. There, there was a policy stating that employees can take short recovery breaks if they experience any physical fatigue that affects their performance or safety. Suddenly, any employee who stood in front of the register for longer than 15 minutes called for a fatigue break and wandered off to the break room. It wasn't long before this new phenomenon alerted HR, and the chairs returned to their rightful place…

This family set out for an event and came home with a kitten instead.

Stories like this are exactly why people on Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem subreddit swear cats somehow appear in the right place at the right time. This family was driving three hours away for an event when the dad suddenly spotted a tiny kitten on the side of the road and pulled over. What started as a normal drive immediately turned into a rescue mission for one very smol passenger named Gizmo.

The family spent the next several hours trying to figure out how to help him. They called multiple shelters along the way, but none were able to take him in or they were already closed. Instead of giving up, they drove another extra hour out of town just so Gizmo could get checked at an urgent vet clinic. That kind of effort for such a tiny kitten says a lot about the people who found him.

Thankfully Gizmo turned out healthy, playful, and very easy to fall in love with. At only five weeks old and 1.3 pounds, he was already using the litter box perfectly, cuddling everybody, giving kisses, and acting completely comfortable in his new home. Rescue kittens always seem to figure out safety surprisingly fast once they realize they are finally cared for.

Once Gizmo got a name and started cuddling the family, there was no chance he was leaving. He really found the perfect people to stop for him.

When having your in-laws stay at home, your household routines change, and your privacy can disappear. Imagine dealing with month-long visits every single year and having to host them all on your own. It can easily feel overwhelming over time. 

Living with in-laws can feel exhausting for some people, even if it is just for a few days. Imagine a whole month in which your husband works 16-hour-long days, and you have to cook, clean, and do house chores while he is away. 

We love our dogs, but they would sell us out for a spoonful of peanut butter. So, it must not have been hard for the Cat Distribution System to bribe them to let this wild "bobcat" in to safely deliver her litter in peace.

Why do people get cats? Because they want to live with a furry roommate who bosses them around all the time and occasionally likes to snuggle. That's pretty much the only reason. But there are many reasons why people adopt dogs.

In the past, people adopted dogs for safety and survival. Dogs used to help their owners hunt and protect them from dangers trying to enter their territory. Now, our doggos are about as useful for safety as a fork is for eating soup. They are great companions and purrfectly lovable, but they're not going to bark at an intruder - they're going to present him with their favorite toy and ask for belly rubs. 

The doggos in this post from Reddit's r/Millennials subreddit just verifies our claim. Their pawrent came home to find her puppers lazily lying on the bed, while she heard a choir of tiny meows coming from underneath her bed. Normally, an animal lover would be thrilled to find a litter free kittens, but there was only one problem: she didn't own a cat.

There was another pawtential problem that she didn't want to test: there is a big bobcat population in her area, so there is a chance that it wasn't any normal cat that chose her room as their nursing area. It could be a wild bobcat.

What is the professional way of saying "leave me alone" to someone?

If we said every single thing that came to our mind to our boss or colleagues, we would not be able to keep our jobs for longer than a few days. When you work in a corporate environment, you have to play the corporate game, which means that you have to notice what you say to people and how you say it. You can't just say everything that's on your mind.

However, once you leave a job, you have a rare opportunity to be as honest as possible without any repercussions. Not only that, once you don't owe these people anything, there is not a single reason for you to comply with their demands or answer their questions. It wasn't enough. After their last day, the former colleagues and boss kept calling and emailing this employee with questions and demands. They needed this file, wanted to know about that case, and even asked the former employee, who understandably refused, to come in for additional training.

What used to be a simple night out has gradually transformed into multi-day destination trips complete with themed outfits, packed itineraries, and surprisingly expensive price tags. While some bridal parties are happy to participate, others find themselves trying to balance friendship, finances, and real-world responsibilities. For many people, a wedding celebration is supposed to create memories, not financial stress.

A story shared by Reddit user @mosquitojenkins in the r/weddingshaming community struck a nerve with readers for exactly that reason. The poster explained that her best friend's four-day bachelorette trip would cost at least $1,000 per person, an expense she simply could not justify after recent car repairs, moving costs, and other financial obligations had drained her savings.

The situation became even more complicated because the bride had allegedly already ended a decade-long friendship with another member of the bridal party who could not attend. According to the story, that friend was a stay-at-home mother struggling with childcare and financial constraints. For many readers, that detail shifted the conversation away from wedding planning and toward expectations within long-term friendships.

The discussion quickly expanded into a broader debate about modern wedding culture and whether expensive pre-wedding events have gotten out of control. Many commenters argued that close friendships should be able to survive reasonable financial boundaries, while others questioned why destination bachelorette trips have become such a common expectation. Now I have to admit this story got me angry before I even got to the details, because what do you even mean you have to deal with someone else's kid at work? Kids are a joy most of the time, especially when they're your own or if they're family, but a coworker's kid? Interrupting work!? That's just too much dude.

There is never a justification for wasting a job candidate's time for two entire months.

This man, who shared his completely understandable frustrations with members of the r/jobs subreddit community online, found himself following a dangling carrot for far too long. He was hoping to land a position as an operations manager at a small manufacturing company. He felt that his 22 years of military experience applied to the role and had even met the founder and his spouse in person during the interview process.

He was given assurance that things would likely work out in his favor. However, trusting a potential employer's word is never a good idea, especially when none of these assurances had been made in writing.

They say that cats come to us from surprising places. Well, in this story the place that these kittens are found in is not so surprising, however, they sheer quantity of kittens found, well that is.

In the stories we usually come across on Reddit's r/cats subreddit you might expect to come upon a box filled with at most 6 tiny helpless kittens. The modest size of litter that sends most hooman pawrents into a tisy trying to figure out what to do with the unplanned for children. And while this is bad enough in itself it is no match for the 12 kittens that this cat mom found soaked by the rain.

It must have been quite the sorry sight to see so many feline lives left to expire like that, but now that this pawrent had seen it, there was no turning back. She knew that it was her responsibility to ensure the safety and health of each and every one of those dozen kittens and that is exactly what she did. Enlisting her partner to run round the clock care and eventually find the purrfect furever home for each kitten in their clan. It is impressive when an organized rescue manages to pull something like this off. So for a couple of cat lovers to do is truly mindblowing. 
 

How far are you willing to go to earn a cat's trust?

We've always believed that it's much easier to trust a cat person because cat lovers understand what it takes to earn a cat's trust, and they are willing to play the long game in order to do so. A cat person knows how important it is to respect the furry feline's boundaries and has no issue with patiently waiting for the feline to open up. They know how rewarding it will be at the end, and they will wait for it for as long as it takes.

That is why, when someone tells us they are a cat person, we know we can count on them. We know how far they will go to earn our trust and eventually… our love.

What would you do if you accidentally stole a cat?

We've seen some hissterical feline mixups in our time as writers for I Can Has Cheezburger. Pawrents thinking their lost cat has come home, only to realize that it's not "their" cat at all, twin-like cats getting adopted by the opposite family, etc. But this story takes the cake, or should we say, the "troublepuffs".

Minh, the feline foster mom, documented her hilarious story in Reddit's r/Cats subreddit for all of us cat connoisseurs to giggle at. She heartwarmingly opened her house to a mama cat and her two kittens until they could find homes for them. When she went to pick them up at the shelter, "mama cat" did not want to be touched, so she just let her get into the traveling carrier without much thought.

This is the vet visit every cat owner fears. 

Every cat finds their pawrent in a different way. Some walk up and choose you, some you meet in a shelter, and others you have to work to gain their trust. Sunny, the cat in Minh's story from Reddit's r/Pets subreddit, chose the latter. She was a stray cat that wasn't very trusting of anyone or anything. It took Minh months to gain her trust, even just enough to trap her. She didn't do it for no reason, winter was coming and Minh knew she wouldn't be able to survive alone. 

Sunny didn't make it easy for her. She didn't like her new indoor life. She hid from Minh whenever she entered the room. But like all cats, with love and patience, she started opening up. One night, she decided to trust again, and from then on, Sunny and Minh were inseparable. It's a love story that's purrfectly superious to Romeo & Juliet, if you ask us.

And then, it happened.

She took Sunny to the vet, and got the worst diagnosis her vet had seen in 20 years. Sunny suffered from hyperthyroidism, and without intervention, their time together would be cut dramatically short. She posted Sunny's story hoping to hear from others who have gone through the journey they were about to embark on. 

These are the words that every pawrent has nightmares over. Of feeling powerless, of having no control over your baby's future. The scary feeling that everything you worked so hard for was about to be taken from you, unfairly.

But there is one thing we know for sure: Cats are resilient creatures, and they thrive when they are loved. If Minh stays by Sunny's side and loves her like we know she will, we're pawsitive that they will pull through. Together. And for many more years to come.

Cats may not solve problems, but they will absolutely supervise the crying session.

Cats have somehow become tiny furry therapists without ever getting a license. They always seem to know when their pawrent is stressed. Bad day at work? Suddenly there is a cat glued to your side purring loud enough to vibrate the entire couch. Crying in bed? Here comes a little emotional support loaf ready to sit directly on your stomach like that will magically fix everything.

The biscuit making really adds to the therapy session too. Cats will knead blankets, hoodies, legs, basically anything nearby while staring deeply into somebody's soul like little whiskered counselors. Half the time they are probably just hungry, but somehow it still works.

Cats refuse to let anybody be sad alone. The second somebody closes a door for dramatic alone time, there is immediately a paw reaching underneath it or a concerned little meow outside. Purrsonal space is not a part of the healing process.

Of course, cat therapy sessions can get chaotic fast. One minute there is comforting purring and soft cuddles, the next the therapist is biting somebody's ankle because dinner is fifteen minutes late. Emotional support with a side of violence.

Still, cats always seem to appear at the exact right moment. They curl up next to people after exhausting days, follow their pawrents around when something feels off, and somehow make everything feel a little lighter just by existing nearby. Tiny little purrfessionals.
