We do not get to say this enough but cat rescuers truly are the angels of the cat community. Going out into the community, providing food, medicine and occasionally trapping for TNR. They do the work not for the money but for the cats and as you will come to find in this story the things they come upon are truly incredible and could not have been handled better by anyone else. This feline family was luckier than most when it comes to rescues.

We have heard of cats being found at the bottom of bins, on top of roofs and pretty much any other place you can imagine. But in the trunk of an abandoned car is certainly a first. This scary situation was come upon by a couple of cat rescuers who were out on a daily feeding route. giving the strays of the area something to keep them going while also getting a count on the number of cats currently in the local area. But when they saw one of these felines leap through a tiny crevice into a car they suspected there was something going on.

And it turns out they were very much right to suspect that something was going on as this cat was hiding two purrecious kittens in the car's trunk. A trunk that was beginning to cook and turn into an oven. With no simple way to open the trunk our rescuers had to put their heads together and macgyver their way to opening it. But what they found evidence of in the car is truly unreal.
 

When the rain starts tapping on the windows, there's no better excuse to curl up somewhere warm and embrace your inner sleepy kitty.

Fall is coming, and I cannot be happier. Cozy season is close, and with that, soft and warm naps, good books, a nice teacup - or coffee - some rain, maybe a fireplace… I can keep mentioning the things that make me love this season. My favourite part, you ask? Definitely curling up with a cat to watch some rain coming down, as we read a good book on the couch.

I think that I'm not the only one ready for this: I think my pet is ready, too! We all had to embrace and tolerate those crazy hot days where going out to work or even running a small errand was a whole adventure. Having the AC running all day and not being able to fall asleep properly because of the heat is just something that I'm more than ready to put behind me and get this cozy and even spooky season started!

Since we still have some heat going on and we're not quite in fall yet, I have a special thing that will start getting us in the mood. And that's scrolling through some sleepy cat memes.

As I said, I'm waiting to have my cozy nap with them. But they still are not ready to cuddle, so I'm trying to settle with these pictures, and let me tell you that they work wonders. Of course, it's not the same as having the actual nap and cozy moment with them, but they do help me get in the mood for when this can actually take place. So, instead of feeling disappointed that we're still not in full fall mode, I laugh with these memes, and I honestly have a good time.

Cats are everywhere nowadays. They cheer us up by appearing on our daily feeds, or they throw our most breakable things over the nightstand for no apparent reason; heck, they even sometimes stare into our souls from some random corner of the house. They are a permanent presence in our daily routines. They make us awe, they make us laugh, and they make us wonder what sort of unknown magic exists inside empty carton boxes and shopping bags. They simply are part of our life. In fact, as it seems, they have been part of human lives for a while now and, being the curious, interesting and enchanting creatures they are, we have always tried to make memes out of them. Tools changed, but intentions stayed the same.  

As proof of this, we have art. For hundreds of years, all sorts of painters have tried to accurately represent these whimsical companions, in all their splendour. In fact, you have probably tried the same thing yourself at some point and, if you're anything like us, you were probably not that successful at it. But worry not! The wild kitten is found near the woods inside a tree hollow. The account that posted the animal rescue video identifies the feline as a serval and shows a family bringing it home. 

Bringing any animal home is a serious responsibility, but bringing a wild animal into a home is a bigger one because it is very different from raising a domestic pet. It's easy to imagine the exciting part of it, like the thrill of meeting an exotic creature that is so tiny, watching it explore your house, and getting to know its personality and its needs and wants. The hard part comes later. What kind of life will this animal need when it is no longer small enough to fit inside a blanket?

Affection is the first part of it, but that is not enough in order to raise the animal well. We should also recognize that a wild cat cannot be expected to fit neatly into our idea of a household companion like any other ordinary cat. Wanting to adopt him means being willing to learn, seek support, and get accurate information about the wild animal's needs. 

The family in this story welcomes the little wild cat into their home and grows attached to him as they watch him grow. The serval becomes part of their days, and all family members are happy to play with him and give him the proper care he needs beyond the excitement of their first encounter. The big cat becomes part of the family. He is truly a companion for this family, and they are happy to treat him as another family member. But despite his size, his playful personality makes him seem as curious as any other cat, and this family adores him just as they would a beloved house cat.

What's more impurrtant, another lecture on finding derivatives or playing with a cute kitten your student found on the way to your class? There is only one right answer, and it's obviously the kitten.

School is officially back in session, for better or for worse. If you're a parent, you're probably pretty relieved to not have to entertain your kids 24/7 while working full time. If you're a student, you're probably wishing you had at least a few more days of summer back before returning to yet another year of studies. If you're a university student, the biggest regret you have is leaving your parents' washing machine behind and going back to living in the dorm, where you have to actually clean up after yourself. C'est la vie. 

But going back to school isn't all bad, especially if you live on a university campus with cool teachers, like our Calculus professor today! On the way to one of his lectures, a university student found a friendly orphaned orange kitten. Not wanting to leave the kitten alone, they asked their professor if they could bring the kitten to class, and he said yes! The video below shows all the cuteness that ensued, and we can guarantee you that nothing productive was done that day.

The Calculus students played with the kitten, but it was the professor who really found his joy. He pulled out his laser pointer, entertaining the cat while attempting to teach, but eventually, it all devolved into filming and enjoying the kitten to its fullest extent. I'm sure that whatever they were supposed to learn that day, be it standard deviations or integrals, could wait until next class.

The next day, some students took the cat to an animal shelter, where he was given a checkup, a bath, and prepurred for adoption. 

He was adopted less than a week later. 

No more kitten playdates during class, but hey, it was fun while it lasted, right?

Being away from your cats to do your job is both heartbreaking and vital. On the one hand you are hurting from being far from the feline who occupies a large part of your soul. While on the other, you are making the money that will feed, clothe and keep your fancy feline fur baby living at the standard they have become accustomed to. So we hope these silly cat memes will help ease the pain and refocus you on the pertinent task at hand.

As pawrents to the feline species we have quite the responsibility to keep them in good spirits and in good standing. You see, a cat is not necessarily so concerned with how good other cats have it. Life can be hard at times, so it's not bad if you need some extra motivation to move on with your day, or week… or even month. Not judging here! Not at all! It's normal to struggle: we are humans, and we cannot be the same every single day of the year. August and September are complicated months as well: after vacation and how slowly everything goes, it's hard to regain that speed and go back to work and doing things normally. For some people, it takes them a couple of weeks to remember and get settled, and others are back since day 1. Something that really helps me get back on my feet is laughing and having a good time. No matter where I am. If I'm with friends or family, then it's going to be easier to laugh, but if I'm alone, I don't let the loneliness get me and pull out a good collection of memes to make me giggle. We often find ourselves commenting on the curious nature of the Cat Distribution System. A system set up to deliver cats with no home to the purrfect hoomans fur them. Seeing as it is a system run by cats their delivery methods are unconventional but when you see them you know them for what they are. And this story of the kitten who was pulled out of a car in purrfect condition and given a loving home with two feline siblings is very much an example of that. If not one of the finest examples we have seen to date.

As we said, the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways. Sometimes it likes to make its deliveries obvious, other times it likes to make them almost invisible and in cases such as this one, they like using the hooman's special skills to fetch the feline they have been gifted. And thank goodness this hooman was a mechanic and not just the receptionist at the auto shop as fishing this kitty out of the motor was no easy task. Talk about a motor that purrs eh? So we got a clean and simple CDS delivery, what's the big woop? Well, we will tell you.

What we love about this story is that it is the purrfect example of how to rehome a kitty. Sure, the 'being found in a car' part is unnecessary. But the fact that this kitten went from streets to sheets is exactly the thing we love. It was spared the sorrow of the shelter system. It was freed from the frustration of foster care. And most important of all it was kept safe from ever having to know what living on the streets is like. 
 

Just a sob story with a tinge of hope. 

It's a pet pawrent's worst nightmare, but it happens. This family has never owned cats, then one day a cat wanders into their backyard and hung out with the family and the children. Everyday the cat came she stayed a little bit longer. They fed her once and the rest was history. She goes to the backyard everyday and she plays with the children. Her name is Melty Chocolate River Rocks, unique but cute all the same. She's the sweetest cat and loves the kids. She also loves to sneak into the house. The family left for a 4 day trip and left Melty Chocolate River Rocks with an automatic water and food feeder. When they got home hardly any food was eaten and the neighbor said he only saw her on the first day of the trip. They are worried about her, and hope she'll come home soon. It's truly a pet pawrent's worst nightmare that their cat would go missing, but it's also pard of the risks taken when you have an outdoor cat. At I Can Has Cheezburger we sincerely hope that the cat gets back to her family safely. 

Whimsy is essential in this day and age. 

Cats have an otherworldly quality about them. They exist outside the rules of ordinary life in many ways. They're infectiously whimsy to say the lease, and everything from the way they look, think, feel, and behave makes them seem more like otherworldly creatures than domesticated pets. They're so magical, and it can be extraordinary to watch them. If you watch them for long enough, you start to notice their mystique. The way they burst into zoomies, chasing some invisible ghost or monster, or when they look sharply in one direction as if there's a spirit communicating with them. 

It's like they're from a dreamworld; their soft fur and purring sounds. Their loaf bodies and cutesy meows. It's no wonder we're all so obsessed with them. Their curiosity adds a sense of whimsy as well, it's like we're being enchanted by them. We do everything for them, all for a bit of their playful, whimsical, magical presence. They do everything for themselves; they choose when to be affectionate, when to disappear, and when to reappear as if they're a magician on show for us, showing us their talent. It's like they're living a parallel story alongside ours. Their little habits and behaviors are so playful, it feels like a touch of childhood. Their slow blink, kneading blankets, and their comfortable fur bodies. They exist in a liminal balance between ordinary and extraordinary. They remind us that childhood wonder is right in the palm of our hands. 

Why does my cat wake me up at night?

We think that this is a question that every single cat owner has asked themselves at one point or another. There we are, peacefully sleeping, when suddenly, we feel a tiny paw on our faces. Or maybe hear a suspicious amount of loud meowing. Or, if our cat is feeling particularly dramatic, we might get the full 3 AM zoomies happening directly across our faces. And we are left wondering… why? 

It's frustrating, we know. But as frustrating as it can be when your feline alarm clock goes off in the middle of the night, there are usually reasons behind the behavior. Getting mad at our cats is pointless. It won't change anything. We need to understand why this is happening. 

If your cat crosses the rainbow bridge before you are ready, sometimes, they use one of their extra lives to come right back to you. 

The idea that cats have nine lives came from somewhere, we don't know where exactly. It's a piece of folklore that developed at some point and stuck with us. Some people attribute this to cats' flexibility and agility, their ability to fall from great heights without harm. Some people attribute it to cats' righting instinct, where they always land on their four feet. And then there is us. We believe that this idea of nine lives comes in the form of reincarnation. 

Okay, let us clarify for a meowment. We believe that reincarnation in cats is real mostly because we want to believe it. I look at my gorgeous senior cat at home, and as I watch her get older and older, as the fear of her crossing the bridge gets stronger and stronger, I believe in cat reincarnation more and more. Because I can't imagine life without her. But we also believe in this because there are simply too many coincidences to dismiss. Today's story is one of them. 

A week after their senior cat suddenly and unexpectedly crossed the rainbow bridge, this owner came across one-week-old kittens. Kittens that were born on the same day their beloved ginger cat passed. And the instant bond they had specifically with the one ginger kitten in the bunch truly made them believe this kitten was a reincarnation of their feline. 

Pull up a chair and make room because the cat is joining dinner tonight.

Cats really do look like tiny little people when they sit at the table. All they need is a plate in front of them and maybe a napkin tucked into their collar. We'd invite them to every meal if we weren't worried about losing half our food in the process.

Eating around a cat requires supervision. Yours may have finished their own dinner approximately 30 seconds ago, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the meal currently sitting on your plate. They need to inspect that too.

Soon enough, a little head pops up beside the table. Then come the paws. Maybe they'll sit quietly and stare until you start feeling guilty. Maybe they'll skip the manners and go straight for a taste. Either way, your dinner now has an audience.

We can't even get mad when they look this cute doing it. A kitty sitting in their own chair deserves to be included in the conversation. Ask how their day went. Tell them about yours. They'll probably respond with a meow and wonder when you're going to stop talking and start sharing.

Family dinners could use more cats anyway. They bring plenty to the table: toe beans, purrs, fluffy faces, and a complete inability to understand why everything on the menu isn't for them.

Just keep one eye on your plate. Those paws may be cute, but they're also quick.

So scoot over and save the kitty a seat. They're part of the family too, and apparently that means showing up for dinner whether they were invited or not.

Now, can somebody please pass the meown course?

Imagine stopping at a convenience store on the way to a doctor's appointment and leaving with one extra passenger tucked into the car.

While her daughter, Tina, ran inside the store, one woman started hearing some seriously loud meows. After getting out to investigate, she traced the noise to the passenger-side rear wheel well. Yep, there was a kitten in there.

Thankfully, Tina managed to get the tiny tuxedo out in about three minutes. Meet Altima, the approximately 7 or 8-week-old kitten who apparently decided regular transportation wasn't exciting enough.

The scary part is that nobody knows where Altima actually climbed aboard. The store was around 15 miles from one home and more than 20 miles from the other. Considering the Texas Panhandle had been dealing with temperatures over 100°F, we don't even want to think about how that ride could have ended. This little tuxie picked a pretty dangerous place for an adventure and got incredibly lucky.

And if a random kitten is going to emerge from your wheel well, having years of fostering experience is about as convenient as it gets. Her rescuer already had everything needed to care for the unexpected arrival. Altima got a bath, had no fleas somehow, went through quarantine, received her first kitten vaccine, and already has her spay appointment planned for October.

Now that the serious stuff is handled, Altima can focus on the important business of being ridiculously cute.

Her personality is still loading, but we already know a few things. She purrs loudly, drools, wants to suck on her hooman's earlobe, and sleeps curled into shapes that have earned her the title of "tuxedo pretzel."

Not bad for a kitten whose day started inside a wheel well and ended with her own foster setup.

Altima definitely chose the most dramatic possible way to get herself rescued.

We're all familiar with that one hire that no one understands how they got the job.

They don't have the skills, they don't have the qualifications, they don't even have any strings to pull. They simply walked into the business, charmed everyone in the building, and got themselves the job.

That is exactly what the kitten below did.

When this construction crew started working one morning, the last thing they expected was to welcome a new, tiny, fuzzy team member to the crew. But when they heard little meows coming from inside their machinery, they simply could not ignore the cry for help and immediately started working on getting the small kitten out.

They got the whole rescue mission on video, right up until the moment the kitten went flying out of the excavator. When they started sharing the story online, people were instantly enamoured with the brave cat who managed to get herself a job as a construction crew member, even without any skill whatsoever.

We're not kidding. After she got rescued, Sue (short for Komatsu) got her very own uniform, safety hat, and vest, so she could join the team that saved her life. Sue was adopted by a family member of one of the rescuers, and now she visits her friends every week and oversees their construction work to make sure no kitten gets harmed in the process.

Tell me: how many of you have been reluctant to interact with a Sphynx cat just because you think they look weird? 

Sphynx cats have that enigmatic look that no other cat has. When we hear that ancient Egyptians revered cats, that is the image of a cat we have in mind: a Sphynx sitting regally on a pedestal, dressed like a Pharaoh, with a bunch of hooman servants at its feet to feed it tuna. I have absolutely no idea whether there was tuna in ancient Egypt, but at least I think they had fish. They must have had fish. Anyway…

Sphynx cats are not like any other regular cat. I have never met one in person, but the experts say that they are usually really affectionate with their hoomans and really playful. They get their name after the famous Egyptian Sphinx, that's true, but I bet that something you didn't know was that they are not originally from Egypt. No, sir, they come from, wait for it: Canada! Can you believe that? Somehow, that information makes absolutely no sense to me. Canada is known to be a pretty cold place, so why would they have a cat with no hair to warm itself up? I'm telling you, it made infinitely more sense to believe they actually came from Egypt. It's hot there; you have deserts, sand, and it would be terribly difficult to keep a cat's fur clean with all that sand lying around. I guess nature likes to play around every now and then with some weird combinations. 

Either way, Sphynx cats deserve more recognition. It's not fair to cast them aside just because they are balding a little. Under those criteria, most of us would have to start casting aside half of our uncles. I'm joking, obviously. Family is still family. And Sphynx cats are still kittens that deserve our love and attention. They can be just as cute and wonderful as any of our regular furry cats. They might not be furballs in reality, but they are in spirit. So here I bring to you some of the cutest photos of Sphynx cats to warm up your heart. Most of them are wearing little sweaters, which makes them look all the more pawdorable! 

You know when cats get into really weird places without explanation? 

We've seen them inside drawers, behind or inside the fridge, inside our wardrobes, in boxes, on top of the roof, and in so many other places! They are like professional contortionists and hide-and-seek players. 

Cats like to feel protected and guarded, so they get into the most secret, hidden corners of the house. They're also really gossipy creatures, so it's natural to find them on top of the roof looking at our neighbor's backyard or plastered against the window to see what's going on in the street. Our purrfect fluffy friends like to hear all the tea; if only they could talk, they would come back to the house to tell us all the hidden details from the neighbors' lives. Yes, they like to know about other people's lives as much as we do. 

As for the laundry thing, our best guess is that they actually like us and are trying to find a place that smells like us so they can feel like we're still with them. We have to go to work, we have to do our groceries and run errands, so we can't be beside our babies all the time. Yes, much against what we think, our feline fluffies actually love us and miss us when we're gone, so they find clothes that smell like us to feel like we're close. They are big old softies on the inside, even if they want to make it look like they're all indifferent and better than us. They are sentimental and clingy as heck when they want to be, and we can't let them forget that! That's why this time we have a collection of cat photos that apparently missed their owners and wanted to take a dive into the laundry basket to feel cozy and warm. We can't blame our furry babies for that, especially now that autumn is starting and we're all looking for a bit of comfort and a bunch of snuggles. Get your laugh ready and your blanket at hand to enjoy these lovely laundry cats! 

Unflappable, nonchalant, calm - cats give us a great example of how to chill out, especially when some of us treat them like a delicate zen bonsai project to decorate.

Seriously, how are cats so calm? Sure, they're not always calm. Some cats catch the zoomies in ungodly hours of the night, going absolutely berserk while parkouring on your ceiling. Some cats can not zip their treat hole for all hours of the day, screaming to get pets, snacks, and to be let in and out freely. It's true that some cats are crazy. But some cats are more zen than a Buddhist monk doing meditation alone in the mountains of Mongolia. They can be so calm that you can stack random stuff on them, and they'd still be completely unfazed. But how?

We think it might be because the cat craze and the cat calm are interconnected. Just think about it… with the example of toddlers. Parents know - when you want to get your 4-year-old to be zonked out when bedtime arrives, you need to spend all their energy during the day. And that's a lot of energy. Well, cats do sleep longer, but what if that's because they craze out all the time when they're awake?

There's not one conclusive answer. But what there is - it's evidence. And we bring it here in the form of silly cat pictures with things stacked on them for you to scientifically analyze. Or, you know, just enjoy and laugh about.

A good meowrning means a hot cup of coffee and some sweet cat memes to go along with it. 

A good morning starts with a good routine. Alarm clock going off at around the same time, food or coffee ready within minutes, our clothes chosen the night before. All of these things are important for a good start to your day. The routine. But the most important thing - the most impurrtant part of our routine - is none of these things. There is one thing that we need each and every morning to make sure we get out of bed on the right paw, and that is simply a whole bunch of cat memes. 

And yes, it really is that simple. A couple of pictures of funny cats first thing when we wake up, and everything else seems a little less difficult than before. A couple of minutes scrolling through silly cat memes while we are drinking our morning coffee will make the whole day sweeter. You don't even need to put time aside for it. Scroll as you drink. It will have way more influence on your morning than you think it would. You're already here right meow, might as well try it. 

Coco was not a fan of the wet intruder that invaded her home and took her favorite spot on the couch. Ironically enough, it was probably Coco who showed "Oscar" (the seal intruder in question) how to get in by following her through the cat doors and straight into the living room!

It's funny to me that cats have a reputation for being cold and unfriendly, because in my expurrience, cats are some of the friendliest creatures around. They love to "adopt" other animals as their kittens, and make friends with wild animals more often than not. Like, when this orange cat became friends with a wild deer, or when this adult mama cat adopted a puppy as her own. Maybe the cats don't like making friends because it ruins their street cred, but friends seem to find them whether they like it or not. I think they might even give capybaras a run for their money when it comes to the number of friends they make per lifetime.

Today's story is no exception. Originally covered by The Guardian, a global news organization that delivers "fearless, investigative journalism," this story is the purrfect example of a cat not intending to make friends, but a friend being made nevertheless. A wild seal was roaming around a New Zealand neighborhood, where it ran into Coco, a marine biologist's cat who was lounging comfortably in the backyard. The seal took interest in Coco (Coco did not take interest in the seal), attempted to defend her hoomans' home from this curious creature, then promptly retreated into the living room via two cat doors.

Much to Coco's dismay, the seal followed Coco through the cat doors and promptly took her favorite spot on the couch. Her hoomans arrived back home and found Coco at their neighbor's house, and the seal wandering around their own home. They named him Oscar, and eventually contacted wildlife authorities to return Oscar to where he belongs. 

Just in case you're wondering, no, Coco still hasn't forgiven Oscar for spooking her. Her hoomans still laugh about it to this day, and she will exact her revenge for this in due time.
