While this story came from Reddit's r/Feral_Cats subreddit, the feline in question is actually rather far from the concept of being feral. Of course initially it seemed that she might be considering she was found outside, but soon enough it became clear that this was a poor dumped cat who wanted nothing more than to be loved in the confines of a calming and comforting home. Alas, when her irresponsible pawrent decided she could not handle the cat she did not spay being in heat, the feline was left outdoors to do what cats do best. That is until our rescuer stepped in to make sure that would not happen.

In a heartwarming turn of events this feline's rescuer was met with no challenges, no arguments and no phone calls to police. Only a cat rescue who was eager to help and who stepped up to the plate with no questions or qualms. Ultimately prepawing the purrecious feline for a life as an indoor catto with a family who will truly love her. It just goes to show that even amongst the maelstrom of the overloaded rescue system there are still good people who just want to help cats find their furever homes and live happily ever after. Just as this indoor purrincess had happen to her after getting cleaned up. The rest of her days will be spent living a life of lavish luxury with a family who will love her deeply.

We don't know what's around the corner, but for all intense and purposes we can assume that there's something good waiting for us in the form of a furry furball friend. In Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, this guy has been putting food and water out for the neighborhood stray cats, and one showed up who he's never seen. He immediately felt a connection, so he took him off the street and brought him inside. He doesn't seem to belong to anyone, despite initial questioning. 

At first, the cat was hyper aware and a bit paranoid. He was so skittish and would get startled at every little noise to the point that he was too scared to eat. The man quickly decided that he would step up and take care of the cat because it's an awful way to live. When another stray tried to fight the skittish one, he broke up their fight. The skittish white cat ended up on the end of the driveway, and the man did a little "pspsps" at the cat, and sure enough he came running. The anxious ball of fur started purring as soon as he started petting him. He thought, "This cat is way too friendly to be a feral, it must be someone's pet that escaped." He then proceeded to take photos of him and actually try to see if he was escaped and with a home. He thought because the cat was so friendly and affection that maybe he did have a home and a family. He proved to be a stray sweetheart, and after a few days realized that he's just here to join his fawmily. The person in the story already has three cats, all of which were gifted to him by the cat distribution system. Two of the cats are indifferent, and the other is a bit on the defensive side, but it's nothing that can't be worked out.

We will never understand leaving your cat to your ex after a breakup, especially when that ex has no interest in cats.

Breakups are hard always, but they're even harder when there are cats involved. The cat gets attached to both people, even if it was owned by only one of them before. Both people get attached to the cat too. More often than not, in situations like these, when both partners love the cat, we see custody battles over cats take place, and the partners start fighting about who the cat loves more. Really, it would be a better situation if one of the people in the relationship had no interest in cats, because that way, the choice for where the cat should go after the breakup would be simple, even if it wouldn't be easy for the cat itself. What we have yet to see is a situation like the one we're writing about today - where the boyfriend whose cat it was left the cat to his ex-girlfriend who doesn't care about cats. 

The story was first shared on r/notmycat, and it was framed quite simply. A neighbor's cat coming to visit, and the kind neighbor giving him water and befriending him. But why does the cat need water from a neighbor? That's what the internet asked. And only in an update did we get the full story. The ex-boyfriend abandoning their cat, the ex-girlfriend letting the cat roam freely without water during a heatwave, often not being home to let the cat in when it wanted back inside, leaving him to meow at her door for hours. It doesn't seem like the cat necessarily wanted to change homes. It looks like this is something that is happening because of a lack of options. But the neighbor is a good option, and the cat will be much happier with someone who cares. 

Cats are our kryptonite, and this robber used that common knowledge to his advantage. 

Shameless behavior. That is all that we have to say about this incident. We cannot even imagine how the idea to do something like this would cross someone's mind. Not only did this man steal a kitten from a store, he then took the kitten to a bank to commit felony robbery with her as an accessory, and also handed the kitten to one of the employees while demanding money from another. He got caught. The kitten is fine. But we're upset anyway. Because we think that this would have worked on us. 

We would have folded like cheap suits in this situation. Present us with an itty bitty kitty in need of help, and our brain would shut down. We would do anything for that cat, including but not limited to giving up all of the money in a bank. We would do it. We would be ashamed about it, but we would do it, because our one and only priority in that situation would be protecting that innocent kitten. And the reason that this man chose to do this is because he knew. He understood that kittens are our kryptonite. 

Of course, maybe the cat wasn't quite that innocent. We do know that our cats commit crimes in our homes all the time. And the shelter that she was returned to seems to agree. As they say: "Now that her brief 'life of crime' is behind her, Magnolia is back to doing what she does best: stealing hearts." She's still looking for a forever home, as far as we know. But we're not worried about her. Now that she's internet famous, it's just a matter of time. She's going to be fending off potential adopters before she knows it.

There's a good reason to keep your cats indoors.

Look, I don't want to stress any fellow cat pawrents reading this, but there are very simple, measurable, and studied parameters about keeping your cat indoors vs. keeping your cat outdoors (full time or part time). Let me just show you the raw details first: While indoor cats often live to 12-18 years, free-roaming outdoor cats have an average lifespan of just 2-5 years. They face severe hazards, including car accidents, predators, infectious diseases, and poisons (many plants are poisonous to cats, for example).

And since most people don't want their cats encountering life-threatening situations often, it makes sense that cat pawrents will keep their cats indoors. Maybe add a nice catio with a great view, but generally - indoor. And that's the harsh truth u/godallid's parents learned. They raised two yard cats, real sweethearts. But the mom refused to let them inside - she was still hurt from losing the family dog a few years back. Now, I never judge the decisions of a grieving pet pawrent - I've never experienced pet loss, and I dread the day I'll have to face it. But this specific decision to keep the emotional distance from the cats, by keeping them physically distant from the house, had very sad consequences.

Just as I've mentioned above, cars are one of the most dangerous things for roaming cats. And unfortunately, one of the cats was hit by one, and passed over the rainbow bridge. It's such a sad, sudden, and horrific way to lose a cat. But that was the horrific shake-up and wake-up call the mom needed - she decided differently, that no more. She's not losing any more pets. The cat has been officially promoted to an indoor prince - just as any cat deserves.

It's tough being a cat pawrent for the first time, but luckily for cat people, we have each other to lean on.

I remember the first few weeks with my beloved cat. She was a teeny tiny kitty, a month and a half old, and very sickly. But I adopted her, and knew with a full heart that she's now my responsibility. But… I had no idea what to do. First of all, a vet visit was a great first step, needed for every new cat you adopt. But that's why I think this woman and her husband are smart people - they turned to the wisdom of the masses. And when it comes to cat people, the masses are always there to help. Seriously, cat people from all over the world are always ready to give advice for first-time cat parents, because they know this one simple truth - when you help a fellow cat parent, you help their cat by extension. And helping cats is something all cat people are always happy to do.

Reading this comment section made me remember the times when I was a new cat pawrent myself. But now that I already know how to care for my cat and cats in general, I'm happy to see how helpful the online cat community is for other first-time cat pawrents in need of help. It warms the heart to see cat people helping each other.

I am a purroud subject in my cat's kingdom.

Basically, everything in my apartment was done with my cat in mind, to cater to her needs, wants, whims, and desires. For example, I insisted that the closet in my bedroom doesn't come with regular doors, but the sliding kind. This is because I wanted to make sure I can leave the closet doors open at all times, without the doors taking so much space from the room. That's because I wanted to make sure my cat can always jump inside and nap on the sheets or on my shirts, if she wants to. She does that from time to time, and I'm happy to provide her a comfy place to take a cat nap.

Another thing I did just for my cat is to make sure she has a supervision spot above the cupboards, for when she wants to judge how I cook in the kitchen. I store stuff up there, above the upper cupboards (like paper towels and boxes of cleaning wipes) - but I made sure to arrange them in a maze shape, and not in line next to each other. That's all for my cat, of course - so she can jump up there and choose her favorite spot to look at me from above. As she was meant to do. She is my cat queen, and I am but her puny peasant servant.

And me? I am happy to serve my beautiful queen. She's been the ruler of my life for years now, and I'm not about to demote her ever. I cater to her every need, I make sure she has the best life pawssible, and I will give anything - money, time, energy - to make sure my cat is happy. I know this is a sentiment shared by many cat pawrents, and I just wanted to make sure you know we're all in the same boat here. The boat of living under a feline overlord - but happily so. Cats rule us - and we're overjoyed about the fact.

I've always thought of myself as someone who is relatively hip with all the new technology. I'm old enough to have had to learn to use phones in my lifetime but also young enough to understand that it's important to move on with the times and to learn the ways of new technology. I've always looked at my granddad, who until his last day thought that my phone was a wallet, as something strange. That's not who I'm going to be! Yet, here I am, and AI is here, and I simply do not like it. Especially when it comes to cats. 

There are so many cute cats in the world and on the internet. There are endless funny cat memes and pictures and videos. We don't need AI for cat stuff. Maybe with other things, it could be useful in some ways, but it does nothing for the cat world. And I say these things, and then wonder if, to people who are younger than me, I sound like my grandfather. And you know what? I don't care. This is a hill that I'm willing to tussle on. Some new technologies are worth it, and some are not. 

Texting. Now that is a technology that everyone should be able to use. And this 90-year-old grandmother, after years and years of her family most likely trying to teach her, finally found a good enough reason to learn. And of course it's cats. This grandmother has so many stray cats in her yard that she loves taking care of, and she has a grandson who loves cats, and now, she has a texting ability that she uses, and what does she send? Pictures of her cats. 

You walk into the supermarket with a grocery list and one mission: buy what you need and try not to forget anything. Then, between the cereal and the canned tomatoes, you notice a pair of fluffy ears rising above the shelf. Forget the list. There is a cat in the store, and you need to meet him. Meeting the feline manager has suddenly become your priority. 

Supermarket cats and bodega cats know that location is everything. Why sleep in an ordinary bed when you can curl up beside the bread display? Why sit on the floor when a stack of paper towels offers an elevated view of the entire aisle? They have a remarkable ability to look completely natural in places nobody expects to find them. They are like longtime employees napping confidently on the products. 

No shopping cart goes unnoticed. The feline supervisor examines its contents and decides if the customer has made acceptable choices. Tuna receives immediate approval. Customers compare prices and search for different product brands, but the cat is conducting a much more important inspection.

All they want is different beds to take a nap in the middle of their shifts. We must understand them. Being a feline manager is not that easy. They really need to rest after their thorough inspections.

Others prefer to observe from behind the counter with the serious expression of someone reviewing quarterly sales. Others just wait for customers at the counter. Just pay for your stuff and go home, hooman.

Taking your cat to the vet is always an… interesting experience. Everyone hates it, basically. Your cat hates every second of it. You have a hard time beause your cat is stressed. And the vets have a hard time because apparently, subduing a 10-year-old chonky cat long enough to do the tests that they need is a mission that requires one vet, one nurse, one secretary, and another, more experienced vet. Actually, that might just be my cat. Either way, the whole experience is a struggle. And although not always, usually, we take our cats to the vet for reasons that are not fun, which, of course, only makes things worse. 

We hope that every vet visit will be short, that the vets will tell us our cats are totally fine and that we took our cats to the vet for silly reasons. But that is unfortunately not always the case, as is with today's story that was originally shared on r/CatDistributionSystem. Sometimes, you get bad news at the vet's that you wish with every fiber in you that you didn't get. Shushu, a 2-year-old cat, had a bad episode happen to him, something not exactly clear, but the vet said that it was a heart attack and that it was so strong, Shushu only had a few months and there was no point in operating on him because the damage done was so bad. To that, we can only repeat what Shushu's owner's said: "Never underestimate one's will to live". Because after being told that Shushu only had two months left to live, Shushu decided that it wasn't her time yet, and two years after this diagnosis, she's still living her best life, healthy and happy.

This family is a self-proclaimed cat magnet. The cat distribution system chooses them more and more. In Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, a family already swimming in cats finds just more cats. They first found a kitten in a park, who they named Juniper. Their neighbor just had a cat give birth in his yard, and that's when they found the box of five kittens dumped next to a free pile. They can't keep the kittens because they already have three, and it's not cheap to have pets. They agree to keep the kittens overnight, but can't take them long term. They're in Portland, Oregon, so they make a post in the hope that someone will respond to their post and adopt one or all of the kittens.
