Carpenter builds stray kitty her own personal cat home from scratch, she loves it and moves in

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 12:30
This is just too adorable.

As a stray cat, you have to pick your prey with caution. What if you choose the wrong owner and end up in a small studio apartment with a neglectful cat dad? Or someone who works all day every day? There's no saying who the person is when a cat chooses them, the only thing they can do is use their animal instincts. In the story below, the kitty chose a pretty good one. This kitty was smart and chose a carpenter. She came around slowly but regularly. She came around and around and eventually the guy decided to use his skills for the greater good and build her a cat house. He grabbed some scrap lumber from a dumpster at his work and built her an insulated home. It took a couple of weekends but he's really proud of his work. So next time she came around he got to show her her new flat. She took a little tour of the apartment. It's too adorable. He named her Penelope and the two will be neighbors!

6-year-old decides to gift a kitten his family is fostering to his martial arts teacher, but when the teacher comes to meet her, the kitten’s mom marches over too and makes it clear they’re a package deal

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 12:00
The only right thing to do when a cat chooses its human is to let that cat go to them.

Fostering a cat is a beautiful thing. Sure, not everyone can do it. Some people - like basically all the writers at ICHC - have a bad habit of wanting to adopt every single cat that we see, and so fostering and getting attached to a cat that we are not supposed to keep is a bit problematic. But the people who do it are angels. Giving a cat a home until they are able to get one furrever instead of having them stay at a shelter or, god forbid, have them thrown back outside, is everything. Teaching these cats that humans can be kind, can be gentle, can be loving. Some of these foster cats come from the streets, and it takes a long time to gain their trust. But it's worth it. Once they learn that humans are not that bad, they can finally go home with one and live the spoiled and happy life that they actually deserve.

The family in today's story was doing that for two cats - a momma cat and her kitten. And of course they got attached. It was unavoidable. Not only was this mother and daughter due two of the cutest cats in the world, but there was also a six-year-old in the family. Now, as you can imagine, if we, at our age, still get attached to basically every cat we interact with, for a child to live with one for a while would be life-changing.

This family had no doubts that they wanted to keep the momma cat. And the kitten? The 6-year-old boy decided that the best person to give this kitten to was his favorite teacher. The teacher was ecstatic, but when he came to get the kitten from their home, something unexpected happened. The momma cat walked up to the teacher and laid her claim. This is her human is what she decided, not the big family. And the family did the right thing - they let the bonded pair stay with each other and go to their forever home together.

Fall baking is not just for humans. Your cats would love some freshly baked treats too.

There's something about fall that makes us want to get cozy with a blanket, stay inside, and bake approximately 500 things we absolutely don't need. Suddenly, every afternoon feels like the perfect excuse to turn on the oven, make something delicious, and pretend like we're the kind of person who has their life together. And while your cat probably isn't interested in your pumpkin spice obsession, they are interested in snacks. Cats love snacks of all kinds. So why not use up some of our cooking time to make them something delicious too?

We not whip up something special just for them, and it doesn't even take that long! These homemade cat treats are delicious, and we promise, unlike the fancy cat toys and high tech gadgets that you buy them, this is something that your cats will actually really appreciate.

'She likes to lick tape': 18 Ridiculous Non-Food Items Cats Will Try to Eat the Second You Look Away

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 08:00
They don't call them "cat burglars" for nothing. We just wish they would steal diamond jewelry or expensive watches for us instead of trying to gnaw on the piece of plastic we just threw away.

You know what they say about cats and curiosity, right?

I'm not sure where the stereotype of cats being "picky eaters" came from because every cat I've ever owned has loved to eat everything, including things that are not food. From plastic containers to sewing thread, my cats love to sneak into my craft room and gorge themselves on a buffet of whatever they can find. Why do they do this when they have a purrfectly healthy and tasty bowl of wet and dry food waiting for them in the kitchen? It's not a rhetorical question - I actually have some answers for you!

Small items like hair ties, string, or ribbon move unpredictably and resemble small prey. Cats usually start off by batting them, playing with them, and then dive into the deep end and try eating them. They may not be "tasty", but they do satisfy an instinct deep down in your feline's DNA. Also, just like hoomans, cats might start eating things out of boredom, or to self-soothe. Have you ever been stressed and felt like you wanted to eat a giant candy bar? Well, it's pretty much the same thing. Repetitive chewing can become a comfort behavior in cats.

So, all in all, they're combining prey drive, curiosity, sensory preferences, and sometimes self-soothing behavior with the unfortunate inability to understand that a hair tie is not a mouse. Below, we gathered some hissterical, and slightly concerning, responses from cat owners who named the non-food item their cat will 100% try to eat the second they look away. Use these answers as a guide for your own cat, or just simply to laugh at how strange cats can be. There is no right answer, except that the string on your floor is not even close to being a real snake.

25 Cozy Cat Memes to Carry Your Heart Into Autumn With Crunchy Leaves and Cuddly Cattos

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 07:15
Autumn couldn't have come a meowment too soon - it's time to welcome in all the fall feelings and felines with colorful leaves, pumpkin everything, cozy blankets, and cuddly cat memes.

There comes a point every year where summer stops feeling like freedom and starts feeling like a purrsonal attack. The sun won't stop yelling at 100 degrees and 200% humidity. Everyone keeps pretending to enjoy sweating through their clothes in the name of "making the most out of the season." Parents are exhausted from entertaining their kids 24/7 without school. And honestly? I've had enough.

Bring me the crunchy piles of leaves that I loved to jump in as a kid. Bring me the oversized sweaters purrfect for swaddling my cat with. Bring me the warm drinks that cost too much but make me feel emotionally stable for approximately 17 minutes. And most impurrtantly, bring me the cold weather that makes me want to stay indoors with my cats and never leave.

Autumn is simply a more cat-coded season. Cats know that the second the temperature drops even slightly, it's time to locate the softest blanket in the house, curl into a purrfect loaf, and act like they invented the whole concept of coziness. This is the exact energy we are carrying into this collection of cozy cat memes. these are not just random feline funnies tossed into a pile like fallen leaves - they are tiny seasonal serotonin boosts for anyone who is ready to trade summer sweating for sweater-weather softness.

Change is hard for most people, which is why I thought this menagerie of memes might help your heart transition from hot, humid survival mode into cinnamon-scented recovery mode. Everything is better with cats, right? And pumpkin spice, but that's a topic for a different article altogether.

Beloved English teacher says goodbye to his students at the end of the semester with a heartfelt email, but a surprise attachment of his cats has the whole internet falling in love: 'I'm actually gonna miss him so much.'

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 06:30
Being an English teacher and a cat parent is a combination that makes so much sense.

When I think of all the cat parents I know, the thought of how wholesome they are eventually creeps into my mind. Because they're just so kind and great people. They just also happen to raise a cat child (whether the cat itself is as wholesome as they are, or a zoomie demon of menace, is a different question altogether). And then there are also the English teachers I've had in my life. I'm not sure if any of them had a cat, but they were all also very kind people, always the best teachers of the year.

So now I want you to imagine this wholesomeness that comes from being a cat parent and being an English teacher, and combine them into one person. The result is cuteness overload. One student on Reddit shared the proof that woke up all the dormant people of the online feline family, because her English teacher said his goodbye to the class with an email attachment of his beautiful cats. And really, they are absolutely stunning. A 10/10 parting gift, if you ask me. Looking at these floofy felines is basking in glory - even if it's through some pixels on the screen.

I'm not really sure what about English teachers is so wholesome (maybe it's something to do with the language?), but it just is. And when they're also cat pawrents, it's where the adorableness potential really shines. Apparently. It's not accurate science (for this, you have to look for the STEM teachers). It just is like that. And for this particular teacher? We can only wish him a great rest of his life with his ameowzing cats.

Lovey Dovey Kitten Photos Spreading Romance, Purrfect Cuddles and Warming Up Our Hearts

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 04:00
Who says only hoomans get to fall in love?

Our kitten cuties are not only affectionate and cuddly with us, but they can be just as clingy with each other. Granted, some cats are a lot more independet on don't want to be cuddled unless they are the ones coming to us and actively choosing when, where, and with whom to cuddle for a determined amount of time. But others just can't live without our hugs.

We don't want them to feel lonely when we leave, so sometimes we get the brilliant idea of getting a second cat to keep our first cat company. That can go really well or really wrong. If our first cat is territorial, be prepared to hear them chasing each other and quarreling like cats and dogs (pun intended). They will learn to tolerate each other eventually, but oh boy, will they make you sweat.

But don't panic just yet! There's still another option. They might actually like each other, and if the first cat is sociable, they will surely become the best of friends and love each other eternally and unconditionally. When they get attached, they get attached for life. That's the thing about our pets: they will be forever loyal to us and to each other. If they share time and space and keep one another company when the owners can't be there, they will form the most pawdorably purrfect bond of all, and then we will be lost. How can we handle so much cuteness every day without going mad and never wanting to leave the house ever again, so we get to stare at our furballs all day? It's almost too much for us to handle; we're simple hoomans trying to get by every day and go back home to cuddle with our cats.

This collection of cute, cuddly photos of loving cats will warm up our hearts and make us want to get a second cat this autumn, so we can give them as many hugs as possible! Grab your kitten, a blanket, and get on the couch with these loving furry babies.

22 Wholesome Cats for a Softer Day on the Internet (September 11th, 2026)

Sat, 09/12/2026 - 03:15
Some days call for less doomscrolling and more cats being sweet, silly, and unaware of the state of the world.

Science can confirm that cats are one of the most intelligent animals in the world. They are not only very adaptable with their bodies, but also highly emotional, which gives them the ability to be careful and mindful of where they go and what they are doing. These skills are not only great when it comes to survival, but they also know how to relate and behave with humans.

Since they are very intuitive and can read between the lines, they pick and choose the human that makes them feel their best and most secure. That is why every cat person out there says that when a cat picks you, it is the best bond and feeling ever. You know that they are very independent and can survive without a human if they wanted to. But if they choose to have someone by their side, that person is going to feel the luckiest, because it is the luckiest.

I have some friends that were chosen by their cats, and they talk about them with such love and care that, for me, since I've never owned a cat, it's a crazy thing to understand. I've always had dogs, and I've always considered myself to be a dog person, and thought that I would end up having multiple of them… but when I talk to my friends, and they share what their life is like with their cat, it makes me want to reconsider my desition. Of course, I could have cats and dogs, and that's it, right?

With dogs, things are much more innocent and fun. Dogs are more needy and need their person next to them every day and every night. And I love that about them... but I kind of want to experience the feeling of having a cat and how that works. So, while I arrange and make a cat choose me as their owner, I have collected the most beautiful cat portraits on the internet. They are soft and wholesome, especially when feeling tired and want some warm cuddles.

Little black kitten stranded in a tree above the water ends up nestled in a fisherman's lap after he brings him safely aboard his kayak

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 16:00
A black kitten stranded in a tree above the water was an unexpected passenger for a fishing kayak. The fisherman went in search of fish and ended up

Before the cat rescue, however, the fisherman heard a conversation and thought it was a catfish, not an actual cat. To his surprise, he found a real cat. Another fisherman had mentioned a cat in a tree shortly before he got on the water, and he assumed the stranger meant a catfish caught on discarded fishing line. He hadn't understood that the warning was about an animal needing help, and that it concerned a kitten. To his surprise, he heard a kitten meowing from afar. "That guy was talking about an actual cat," he said. All of a sudden, the earlier conversation made sense. Somewhere among the branches over the water was a small animal asking for help. The fisherman decided to get on his kayak and explore the water to save that kitty.

No one would ever expect to find a kitten beneath the highway bridge, between rocks and tangled branches. That's not a place for a kitten. Poor little one; he must have been so scared. How did he end up there? Fortunately, the fisherman finds him, and the kitten makes it aboard, safe and sound. After the fisherman welcomes the little passenger aboard, it nestles between his legs, and they head together safely back to shore. Now, the fisherman's next mission is to find the baby cat a home.

5 tiny kittens rescued from a heartbreaking start make an incredible transformation surrounded by love

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 15:15
You'd never know from these photos just how rough things started for these five kittens.

Reddit user Gonkalicious_2176 shared the litter's story on r/FosterAnimals after taking on their first experience fostering this many kittens at such a young age. A friend had spotted a Facebook post looking for someone to take the motherless litter, and they agreed to help.

Thank goodness they did.

One kitten had already passed away before they arrived, leaving five babies behind. The remaining kittens were found alone in a box on the porch, filthy and severely underfed. Three were desperately begging for food, while the two white kittens, Molly and Maggie, were unconscious. Their breathing was the only indication they were still alive.

This is where things get pretty incredible.

The kittens were rushed home, and sugar rubbed onto Molly and Maggie's gums helped revive them. Going from barely clinging on to becoming healthy little kittens is one heck of a glow-up, and their foster family deserves plenty of credit for getting them there.

There was apparently a lot of trial and error along the way. This wasn't a household accustomed to caring for a litter of five fragile babies, but giving up clearly wasn't an option.

Now Simba, King, Cali, Molly, and Maggie are 8 weeks old and thriving. They have toys to attack, wet food to devour, and their first round of vaccines behind them. Basically, they're finally getting to worry about normal kitten things instead of survival.

Their foster says the experience has become the highlight of their year, and we can see why.

Watching five tiny kittens go from such a rough beginning to growing stronger every day has to make every sleepless night worth it.

Fresh Flower Garden of 26 Feline Funnies to Bloom Up Your Friday

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 14:30
A cat meme bouquet of bundled joy.

Cats make our souls bloom. With every headbutt bonk they give, every slow blink they grace us with, every ridiculous zoomies session in odd hours of the night, they tend to something inside us we didn't even know needed tending. Cats the gardeners of happiness, planting little seeds of joy in the human mind and somehow always knowing exactly when we need a fresh fountain of laughter to get us through the day. And they take care of that every day.

And they don't just plant and forget - they nurture. With their own green paw, cats water and harvest a kind of joy that only grows when it's shared with them. It's a two-way garden: you fill the food bowl, they fill your heart. This creates a whole ecosystem of affection that flourishes like a symbiotic relationship of pure purring joy. That's the real meowgic of bringing a cat home - you're not just adopting a pet, you're planting something that keeps blooming for years. And that something is the best friendship you'll probably ever harvest.

Even scrolled through a screen, that happiness doesn't wilt one bit. Bundle it all into a bouquet of cat memes, like the ones waiting for you below, and all that cat joy still shines through - bright, unbothered, and warm, like sunlight falling just right on a colorful bed of flowers. So grab your favorite watering can (or coffee mug, because that's the obvious choice to water your mind) and let's scroll through this warm and sunlit field of feline funnies. Friday's about to bloom - cat style.

Racetrack worker finds a tiny black kitten on the site, and by the time he and his girlfriend get around to whether they can afford a fourth cat, Bean's already decided she's staying.

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 13:45
Some cats adopt themselves, even if they need the initial push to start the process.

Most people decide they want to adopt a cat. They go to the shelter, or search online in local Facebook groups if anyone is trying to find forever homes for a litter of kittens that was born in their backyard, for example. But it's the human part of the equation that usually takes the charge and tries to actively search for a cat to add to the family. But that's not the case with some cats who are being adopted, because they simply adopt themselves. It doesn't matter what's the living or financial situation of the person, the cat has made up their mind - and they're staying.

When a cat adopts themselves, it's an unmistakable step by the notorious Cat Distribution System. This mysterious whatever-they-are seems to install a software update in the cat that sends the command to be adopted by their designated person - attributed to them by the CDS, of course. They do this matchmaking between the purrfect cat and the perfect person. And when it's about the cat who decides they're staying - it's even stronger than usual.

And that's what happened with the now-cat of u/Rotenmango. But there was one small difference, probably instigated by the CDS as an initial push toward the self-adoption of this tiny black kitten, now known as Bean. She was filmed by u/Rotenmango's boyfriend at his workplace, making him decide to at least help the little one. But now? Well, it seems like she's going to join a family full of feline friends and two loving hooman pawrents.

'He's obsessed with my husband': Pawrent's cats spot a 5-week-old kitten in the backyard, discover he's partially blind, then watches the rescue mission become a love story as the kitten becomes smitten with her husband

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 12:00
What's the biggest green flag a guy can have? Being loved by cats. There is no other answer.

There are a lot of good qualities to look for in a partner. Some people really value bravery and courage - someone who will stand up for others to help the people they care about feel safe. Others will search for a partner who is a provider. But when I was looking for my purrfect partner, there was one thing that I knew I needed in order for it to be right - he needed to be loved by cats. Not just someone who loves cats, but someone that felines instinctively feel is approachable and trustworthy.

For all of us who have lived with and know cats, you know how rare a purrsonality trait that is. That purrson needs to be soft and inviting, but not a pushover. They need to be compassionate and kind, and have a belief that even the smallest creatures are worthy of our love. I knew my husband was the one when, the first time he met my cat (I only had one back then), she immediately went up and laid on his lap. She's not purrticularly fond of strangers, and usually hides when someone new enters the house. She was curious and trusted him within seconds of meeting him.

These kinds of men are rare, but if you find one as a cat purrson, you know they're already leagues above most other guys. And, thanks to the kitten rescue video posted on @jacnpat's Instagram page, we can safely say that we found another one. A pawrent's cats found a 5-week-old kitten in their backyard, and were thankfully able to rescue him. Naming him Bjorn, they realized he was half-blind and desperately in need of some help. What helped baby Bjorn feel safe and comfortable, nearly immediately? Her husband. He became obsessed with him instantly.

Their rescue mission turned into the most wholesome love story, and it's just beautiful to watch. Scroll down to watch these hoomans and their feline family welcome Bjorn into their hearts and home!

9 kittens and their momma found dumped under a dumpster in freezing weather, are offered shelter by a cat-loving couple, who take care of them until every last one finds a home: 'Momma was so tired from the constant nursing'

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 11:15
Dumping a new cat mom with her 9 babies out in freezing weather is simply cruel.

Being a new cat mom is hard enough. Litters are rarely just one baby. Far more often than not, these new moms have many mouths to feed and wiggling fluffballs to keep in line. We see it in our everyday lives. If you've ever adopted or fostered a cat who had just given birth, you know these mommas need breaks. These mommas bring their babies to you to take over babysitting duties. They have to teach their kiddos how to drink water without getting it up their nose. They have to teach them how to eat, and if they puke, then how to puke exactly on the carpet and nowhere else. they have to show them exactly how to treat their humans, how to make sure we're good servants for them. Motherhood is hard in every species. It's the greatest challenge there is. Being with a human makes the whole thing so much easier… if that human is a kind one.

The cat in this story was dumped by a not-so-kind human. This momma cat was sweet, gentle. She didn't deserve to be taken out of the warm home that she was in with her nine babies in her paws and dumped under a dumpster in freezing weather. No cat would deserve this, of course, but especially not one who had already been taken off the street once, a cat who already knew the care, the life, that humans could provide. It's easy to get used to a good thing, and she was used to it and then had it taken away from her. She was strong, though. This is one cat who was not going to give up, not on herself and not on a single one of her babies. She kept her babies alive and as healthy as she could until she was found. Nine tiny lives, dependent entirely on someone who was not ready for it, and she did amazing. And when she was finally found for the second time, she was found by actual good people.

Abandoned kitten approaches mother and kids at a bus stop, the kids instantly fall in love with her and convince mom to adopt her, and the 10-year-old is so inspired she decides to become a vet

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 10:30
Having pets when we are young is something that shapes who we are as people.

Adopting a cat for your child is not just something cute and fun. It's something that will have an influence on their lives for the rest of their lives. Cats do not let people roll over them. They have standards. They have demands. Cats train their humans just as much as we train them. They teach us… they teach us to be patient, they teach us to be gentle, they teach us how to love without pressure, to be kind and to let people come to us when they are ready. Adopting a cat for your child means teaching them all of this when they are very young. And that makes a difference.

Of course, adopting a cat also means adopting a little chaos machine. But 3 AM zoomies are something that will bond your kids with your cats even more. It seems like such a simple thing - to adopt a cat. But even I, as someone who didn't have cats growing up, have learned so much from them once I finally took that step. I think having a cat made me a better person. And although it seems that the kids in today's story are already pretty good kids, growing up with a cat will only make them better.

27 Cozy Feline Funnies to Keep You Warm Through the Chilly Autumn Days

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 08:00
Fall is here, and that means that it's officially time to curl up with a blanket, a hot cocoa and come purrfect cat memes.

Fall. Oh, how happy we are that fall is here. Sure, summer is fabulous in its own ways. Ice cream, iced coffee, beach days, that's all great. But there is nothing that we love more in this world than being able to sit down at home, curled up under a blanket, with our cats by our sides, rain softly tapping the window in front of us, a cup of hot cocoa in one of our hands and a bunch of wholesome cat memes in the other. That's… purrfect. The simple things in life bring us the most joy, we think, and those things are nearly always the cute cats we see on the internet.

And yes, it's early fall right now. Maybe there are some places in the world where the cold hasn't quite hit yet. But it doesn't matter. The vibes are already here, and however how we might be, we will sit down with that hot cocoa and those silly cat memes. Those are the rules of fall, and we are not the ones who made them. We just benifit off them.

25 Cozy Cats to Curl Up With When the World Feels Too Loud

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 07:15
We all need rest – a reset, a washing over of the difficult, tumultuous, or hard times, and what better way than with soft and sleepy kitties?

Soft and sleepy kitties work wonders on our brains. When we need a cute little dopamine hit of cat memes, they really pull through. They're instantly and easily accessible, and they do the trick every time. In a world that constantly pushes for productivity, movement, and output, it's easy to forget that rest is not just a luxury, it's a necessity. People are not designed to run endlessly without a break. Just like anything else, we need moments to slow down, reset, and simply exist without pressure. Without those pauses, even small tasks can begin to feel overwhelming, and the mind grows tired in a way that sleep alone doesn't always provide. Rest doesn't have to look like a full day off or a long vacation. Sometimes it's found in small crevices, soft moments, tiny breaks that interrupt the chaos of the day.

Scrolling through sleepy cat memes is surprisingly purrfect for a brain break. There's something calming about watching cats rest. Their squinted eyes, their soft and gentle purrs, and the way they stick their tongues out when they're totally comfortable. A kitten curled into a purrfect little ball, a fluffy cat stretched out in a sunbeam, or a chubby tabby loafing peacefully on a blanket. These images rekindle a sense of natural pleasure, they just give us a comfortable image of stillness.

September Cat Memes for Welcoming Sweater Weather With Open Paws

Fri, 09/11/2026 - 06:30
Sweater weather > bikini weather.

The different seasons are for different people's preferences. Not everyone is built for intense, scorching, sweating summers, and not everyone is built for cold, bone-chilling, icy winters. The globe offers an array of weather, and if you're lucky, you just might be born somewhere that matches your preferences and temperament perfectly. Not everyone is afforded this kind of weather purrfection, but if you are then you might want to scroll cat memes. Depending on where you are in the world, you might be experiencing the first breezes of autumn air, the taste of crisp cold weather, and you might even be unlocking the chest under your bed filled with scarves, fuzzy socks, and sweaters for the first time in months. You might also still be sun tanning and going to the beach, but no matter where you are, it's still September. The weather is still in it's nascent stages of change, and cat memes are still here to welcome you (and the changing seasons) with open paws.

One thing about sweater weather that never gets old is that the leaves change along with your wardrobe. Seeing the changing weather, skies, colors in the air, and the temperature outside can be inspiring to want to make a change yourself. If you find yourself halfway through the year wondering where you will be this coming January, never fear because cat memes will always be here to guide you, comfort you, make you laugh, smile, and anything else.
