Our cats do some bizarre things. If we had a dollar for every weird, unhinged, chaotic, and crazy unexplainable things our cats did then every cat pawrent would be rich. From zoomies, to running up the walls (literally), to being calm one minute and suddenly poofing their bodies, giving crazy eye, and darting into the other room, our cats continue to give us endless entertainment. The face alone is hissterical. Does your cat ever make growling sounds like it's possessed and about to have an exorcism? Or does your cat try to eat any human food you put out? And we mean any – from bread, to dried lentils, some cats are crazy enough to eat things that they can barely digest. 

Or what about when they want to knock everything off the table, and before you know it all of your chap stick has mysteriously disappeared under the couch. Cats can also be manipulative!  The purring, the slow blinks, the little head bumps that feel like spiritual blessings. Cats deploy these tactics strategically—usually right after knocking over a plant or sending a cup flying—to avoid prosecution. These manipulative purr-machines know exactly what they're doing, and they always get away with it.

Welcome, lovers of the internet. Being in love is basically the best feeling in the world. Just when you think everything is collapsing around you and you can't even stand on your own two feet, someone who loves you just pops up and lets you know that everything will be okay. Just like the love you have for your hooman or your cat, your cat also shares this sort of euphoria with his or her favorite kitty friend. The holiday season is a time for uplifting tales as much as it is for the saddest and toughest of tales. And while we usually bring you some of the more cheery chronicles of cats, we wanted to highlight one heartbreaking and heartwarming story that showed off just how sensitive and kind the Cat Distribution System and cats as a species can be. For this tale tells the story of the kitten who stumbled into an open door amidst copious amounts of snow into a home that desperately needed him. And in doing so, he was able to support several people through some of the toughest times in their lives. Making an everlasting paw print on their souls.

So while we take time to be thankful for all the people in our lives, we wanted to also remind you all that we must take time to show our gratitude to our cats as well.

Cats are the best snugglers, and winter proves it time and time again. Once the weather becomes a little chilly, the air is crisp and the cat is ready to say "Nope" to every temperature drop. They will meow profusely until you sit in a cozy corner, just so they can jump onto your lap, turn a few times to make sure you're all soft and comfortable, and then roll into a cinnamon pastry shape and purr their warmth until forever. And that, fellow feline fanatic fans, is pure bliss. Every cat person would agree. We're sure every cat person has "Snuggle with a cat" on their winter to-do list. We know we added it already in the autumn.

But cats are independent, they have their own schedules, wants, whims, and desires. It's the cat's decision on when, where, and for how long to cuddle. When it happens? It's ameowzing, for sure. But it might not happen exactly when we want or need it. But if you need a soul snuggle in the shape of an adorable cat, look no further than these fluffy feline funnies. They're the pawrfect mood lift on this crisp and chilly day - like a cat choosing your lap as their snuggle spot. Because cats are simply the best like that.

Some people wish they could adopt all the cats. Well, at least the ones who don't have a home yet, the ones who are now facing the winter months in the streets. No roof over their heads, no safety out there, no warmth to keep them cosy. This thought hunts a lot of cat lovers, but some of these feline fans try to do something about it - they set out to care for the strays, the cats who don't have homes. They take a colony of cats under their care, feeding the felines so they won't starve, TNR them for health and safety, and generally being the benevolent pawrent - even if they cannot take the cats inside.

And when you take care of a whole colony like that, you care about each and every cat. And that's exactly the love and care level this one TNRing person had regarding her cat colony. When one of the cats was seen wounded and alone, she tried to take care of him - but he wouldn't let her. And taking care of a cat who is afraid of receiving help is difficult (especially when you have many other cats to take care of). And one day - he disappeared. She feared the worst had happened - that he succumbed to his wounds, or was too cold to keep a survivable body temperature. But a single note on the fence where she feeds the cats made her realise - this cat has found his forever home.

No fireplace can warm the heart of a feline fan this winter quite like knowing a sweet stray won his forever home.

You can't judge a cat by how they act in an animal shelter. Cats are their best selves when they have safety, security, a routine, and space. They have next to none of these things when staying at a rescue. They're cramped into tiny metal boxes, surrounded by other cats, and are constantly stimulated by people and other animals. It sounds purrfectly stressful to us, let alone a cat. So when this volunteer decided to foster the new feisty feline at her rescue, she wasn't exactly sure what she was going to get.

He wouldn't leave his "safety" box since he arrived. Everyone assumed he was too spicy to deal with. But when she opened his cage and offered her hand, all she was met with was love. She took him home (he had a lot to say about it), and now he's exploring his new home while waiting for her to find him a furrever family. In the video below, you'll see how sweet and gentle this "spicy" cat is, and it breaks our hearts that no one even went to check just because he was shy.

Give the spicier ones a chance. Purrhaps they just need some time and space to open up. They could be the best cat you've ever met.

We say this as people who love cats and love adopting cats and think that cats are the best: do not gift cats to people. Generally speaking, we think that is something that you should not spring on people as a surprise. Adopting a cat, at the end of the day, should be the decision of the person who is going to have the cat live with them. Of course, sometimes, it works, and you get wholesome stories of people receiving kittens as gifts and completely falling in love. We get that too. If someone gave us a kitten as a gift right now, we would probably be happy, but that's because we are at the right time for it in our lives. 

We completely understand why the woman in this story was reluctant in accepting the kitten that was gifted to her by her sister. She wasn't ready, not after the loss she experienced. And that's okay. And yet… although she might not have been ready, her cat clearly was, and so the cat called dibs, and the kitten stayed, and now, slowly but surely, the kitten is winning over everyone. 

Sometimes, especially during colder days like this, when we're sitting at the office, or when we're going grocery shopping, or doing any of our other responsibilities, our minds… wander. And we think about the one thing that we miss the most at home. Our cats. Their softness, their fluffiness, their warmth. We miss that feeling that we get whenever we press our faces into their soft, soft bellies. That's the feeling that we miss. And although nothing can quite replicate it, we think that these wholesome cat memes are about as close as we can get.

We've never heard of a cat popping out of a sewer, following someone how, and getting adopted that way, but… we suppose we shouldn't be surprised at this point.

A summer visit to Ohio turned unexpectedly memorable when a routine check on backyard chickens revealed something surprising… a tiny kitten hiding beneath the coop. Loss is a part of life, but it doesn't make it any easier to go through grief or sadness when you lose someone close to you. There's a hole there that can't be filled with anything else, and coming to terms with the loss is the best way to move on from it. The story below isn't about loss, but it centers around the potential for loss. The protagonist is a cat mom who's had her cat for 16 years, which is the age of the cat. Now that the cat is 16-years-old, he's having health issues. He has surgery to remove his bladder stones. After the vet, he's not at his full health. It's to be expected, but it doesn't make it easier. 

The old cat won't eat, won't drink. He still is trained to go to the bathroom, but since there's nothing there, he just sits next to his litter box confused. It's heartbreaking for the cat owner to see, and she's tried everything in her power to make her cat son eat, but he won't. She seeks wholesome internet advice on what to do for her cat, as she's not ready to lose her favorite person in the world. 

Cats are truly a mysterious bunch, and we would not be surprised if many of this world's mysteries could be solved if a cat thought translator would be invented. If we could finally know what is going on in their tiny, albeit brilliant, minds, who knows what mysteries we could solve? But at the very least, the mystery of why the cat child featured in today's story decided to wriggle out of its harness and run away would be solved. For what is a loving feline pawrent meant to think when their cat child does their very best to squirm out of the only thing keeping them together while outdoors?

Lucky for the pawrent in this story, the cat came back, but if it had not, that could have been a pain and weight that they would have lived with for the rest of their life. So the moral of the story is we need the technologists that be to invent a cat thought translator.

Let's get the bottom line out of the way first - we're absolutely happy to know this cat is in her forever home. It might take her time to mend the broken trust she's experienced from her previous owners, but it'll come. This kind neighbor who took her in seems to have all the right intentions and means to make this beautiful feline girl right at home - from here on out, and forever. Soon, she won't be the "kind neighbor" who saved this cute cat, but her actual human mama.

Now that the bottom line is at the top, we can continue to what bothers us so much, bubbling under the surface, that we have a mighty need to ask - who in their right mind abandons their cat?!
