I'm starting to understand why kittens sprint across the room out of the blue. Just like us, they remember the thing they were supposed to do on Monday that they didn't. We're in the middle of the week now, and they haven't done it yet, so they're panicking and running. I wish we could react the same way.   

The main difference is that kittens can crash into a cardboard box, take a nap, and keep on with their day as if nothing happened. Humans have to face the consequences of postponing things that were meant to be done by Monday. At least you owe an explanation. That's the bare minimum, and the best-case scenario when forgetting about an important task.

This week's delivery includes sleepy kittens that use sleep as their coping mechanism. It doesn't matter if they forgot to do some serious kitten business; they run, panic, and fall asleep in a position that can't possibly be comfortable, pretending that nothing happened. After creating trouble, their way to solve it is to sleep and forget about the problem too. I mean… That's not the best advice ever, but sometimes it works for cats. Instead, we humans know that sleeping to avoid life problems is not the solution to anything. Even if we try to ignore our problems for a while, they are still there, so we need to take action sooner or later. Acting like the problem is not there won't make it disappear. In fact, it can make it grow bigger, which is potentially worse, and I don't think anyone wants that. 

So, no, we can't sleep and just forget about it. We are not as privileged as a tiny kitten. They are still babies growing up and still figuring out how everything works in the world, so they deserve to live in their innocence and be taken care of. When we are kids, someone takes care of us too. Later, that's a benefit we lose when we become adults. I'm sorry; adult life is like this. But at least we can laugh at kitten memes! We still have that benefit, and this particular one comes once a week. See you next time!

Imagine returning home after being out of state helping your dad, and realizing your beloved motorcycle was not there…

So, we all hear those crazy neighbors' stories when one of them feels entitled to do whatever they want with other people's possessions… but this one just crosses the line. A man had to leave the state to go help his dad after a big procedure, and ended up being with him for six months. Meanwhile, he left his motorcycle parked in a special spot and had all the documentation that proves that he owns it (and that's not abandoned, basically).

When he returned home, he realized that the vehicle was no longer there, and thought it maybe got towed. But later, he found out through a neighbor that someone else took it to a friend's garage and sold it for $2,800… that's a bike that's worth at least $7k total. But the money is beside the point here; the problem is the neighbor's attitude and how he decided to take something that's not his and sell it!

Even writing those words makes me feel so weird. I wouldn't know how to react if I found out that my neighbor sold my vehicle just because I left home. I would even feel watched and monitored… Imagine the number of times he had to be looking at the bike to realize it was "abandoned" and that getting it towed and sold was the actual solution.

Anyways, I'm curious to see what the next step is… Is he able to recover the bike after it's been sold? Does the buyer have to give him more money, or maybe the neighbor is responsible for not only returning the vehicle, but also giving him the $7k? It's a complicated situation, to say the least.

Why are people so persecuted about literally anything?

Having some entitled guest wanting to check into a hotel and then making a scene with the front desk employee over anything is one of the most common stories I read. But we usually focus on the fact that they mistreat the employees that are trying to help them or the fact that they expect to get some exceptions after being mean towards the staff. But today I have a new thing to concentrate on. In the story below, we get a showcase of the people who are always prosecuted by themselves and their minds. These people think that everything is a scam or somebody trying to use them for something. It gets to a point when they start to doubt everything and everyone. As if everyone's main goal was to scam them.

Security deposits have been a thing forever. Almost every hotel will ask you for it to make sure that if something breaks or gets damage the customer can be made responsible for it. They are not going to let a guest into the room with that said deposit, as it is a liability for the hotel. Letting a guest in without that can cause the firing of the front desk employee that let them in and even legal problems. So when the employee of this story started to insist on it, it's obvious that they are doing it to avoid getting in trouble, not because they want to bother or scam the customer who wants to check into the hotel.

This customer decided to view the situation of giving his card for a security deposit as a scam. He started to think that by giving it, he was going to get charged for things he didn't agree to. This was a grown adult who I'm sure has stayed at a hotel before. Why would he think that of a security deposit? He is in a trusted environment that complies with the law. What about the hotel made him think that giving his card would get him scammed? I actually don't understand what was going through his mind. I get that with the rise of AI, people are starting to think that everything is fake. But this man was at a real hotel getting asked to do something he has probably already done before. Maybe we just all start to chill out a bit. Not everything is a scam. We need to think before creating a scene over something like this. 

Everyone gets more energy during the summer months, even cats. The only difference is that when cats get the zoomies, all laws of physics go out the window.

You know the term "cabin fever"? It's when you get antsy for staying in one place too long, and for us, that feeling only gets worse in the summertime. With the sun shining and the endless blue sky calling to us outside, we can't even consider the idea of not using up our summer vacation for a trip to the beach or a weekend camping in the great outdoors. Why stay inside when the weather (albeit hot) is purrfect for being outdoors?

The same is true for our cats - although we have to say it for safety reasons first: cats should only be allowed outside if they are leash-trained or have a safe, secure place to explore on your private property. Letting an indoor cat outside all of a sudden is just asking for trouble. 

If you don't have either of those things, it's time to break out the feather toy and get your cats moving, playing, and jumping. Even if your cat is more of a lasagna-lover than a gravity-defying feline, just power them up with some summer sunbeams and they'll be ready to bounce off the walls in no time.

Tossing an elderly cat, who's only ever known the life of an indoor cat, onto the streets is plain evil. 

One of our greatest fears, as cat owners, is our cat crossing the rainbow bridge. It's something that we know will happen one day, and we knew it back when we adopted our cats too. It's inevitable. One day, it will happen. And that's awful. It just is. But at the ned of the day, we know that this is how things are supposed to be. Because the one thing that is worse than us losing our cats is our cats losing their owners. They might be this itty bitty part of our giant and complicated lives, but for them, we are everything. 

Our fully-indoor cats, who we have been with since they were kittens, don't know life without us. They don't know life without blankets and free food to scream for at six in the morning. If I were to put my cat out onto the streets, she wouldn't survive half a day without rushing back to me. And the same is true for Fida, whose story was shared online as a tribute after she crossed the rainbow bridge. 

Fida's life was long and comfortable, but at 17 years of age, her owner passed. The worst thing that can happen, right? Almost. Despite the fact that her previous owner had family - people Fida knew who could take her with them - they all decided that she was a "burden", that she wasn't worth the effort, and they tossed this elderly cat onto the street. We're sure that she would have tried to come back home if she could, but she had no home to go back to. It was a miracle that Fida was found when she was. And an even bigger miracle that she spent her final two years loved and in a home instead of in a cage in a shelter. 

What would you do if your family disowned you?

It's not an easy question to answer, since it doesn't happen often and most of us have somewhat stable relationships with our families, at least stable enough not to get disowned. But that doesn't seem to be the case for everybody. 

A Reddit user who goes by u/LopsidedEntry9376 shared an uncomfortable family situation regarding money and inheritance. Their father approached one day with brand-new information: he had made changes to his will. These changes mostly affected the user's brother, who will no longer be getting the part of the inheritance he expected. The father didn't give specific motives, and the sibling didn't see the actual will. The sibling is now conflicted because, even though it's his father's decision and he has the right to do it, they also know the brother was counting on receiving his inheritance and already making financial plans around it. 

The information we have about this case is scarce. We don't know why the father chose to leave his son out of the will, or why he decided it was a good idea to tell his other child about it. We don't know what plans the brother is making, or his current financial situation. What we do know is that, even if it sounds harsh, parents have the right to do as they please with what they leave behind. It doesn't sound like the father is unfair to his children regularly, but again, we don't have all the information. Most likely, the father knows something about his son that made him unfit to receive his inheritance, and he's just protecting his assets and the rest of the family's well-being. 

The son, on the other hand, sounds like a cold person. Who makes plans for an inheritance that you don't yet have? If your parents are still alive, why are you hoping for the time when they are no longer here? We can't be sure, but that sounds like a motive for the father to cut him off. 

Summer is coming to an end, and we are not ready for it. 

Okay, so we know that we have been complaining all summer. About the heat outside. About the AC inside. We know. But we also know that we are going to miss it. Some things are just- different in summer. Watching our cats sunbathe in every sun spot they can find, soaking up all that warm goodness. Watching our cats sit in sinks all around the house, looking for relief from the heat whenever it gets too much. 

We're going to miss these moments… all the way to next summer. But before this summer is officially over, we felt that it was only right to send it off the way that we have received it. Throughout this entire summer, the one thing that has kept us sane and happy when we were outside in the heat or inside in the AC icebox, was funny and wholesome cat memes. They have kept us distracted, warm when needed, chill when needed. They have held us together when the weather and life were going to beat us. What kind of ownership does a guest have over their hotel room?

We pay a lot to stay at hotels, and we want to get our money's worth. That usually means that we expect our room to be clean, for the facilities to work without an issue, and even for the breakfast buffet to be as diverse as possible. When we check out, and the front desk clerk asks us, "How did you enjoy your stay?", the answer should be that it was impeccable, absolutely perfect, no complaints. 

Does that really happen every time? Absolutely not, but a girl can dream.

With all due respect to the money we pay for a hotel room, we can't expect the hotel to treat the space as if we own it. The hotel owns it; there is no way around that. As long as you're there, they will give you as much privacy and autonomy over the room as possible, but at the end of the day, when you check out, the room goes back to the hotel's care.

This means that if someone decides to check out early, they relinquish their right to the autonomy over the room. Checking out at the front desk is basically saying, "I don't need this room anymore, it is your responsibility now," which allows the hotel to do whatever they want with it, including giving it to someone else.

So why was the guest in the story below, posted on Reddit's r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk, so upset when she found out someone else was staying in a room she checked out of? 

It was her decision to check out even though she had paid for another two nights in the hotel, and if she wanted to still have autonomy over it, she simply shouldn't have handed over the keys. The hotel doesn't care whether you sleep in a room or not, as long as you're paying for it, you can do whatever you want with it. But if you officially tell them your stay is finished, the room is back in their control. Do with that what you will.

If you want students to follow your instructions to the T, then make them clear enough for that…

I remember when I was in school, I was the kind of student who always complied with what the teachers asked. I used to be one of those students that only got A's and was always noted as "the good student" or "the model student". In the long run, it actually ended up doing a number on me as I started to get incredibly anxious about academics and obsessed with grades. But the good part was being noted and liked by teachers for my efforts and test scores. I remember that it got to a point where I was so advanced with class tasks that I went home and had no homework. I was always working towards doing my best and being the best at school. When, in reality, it wasn't really that important.

Because of how I behaved at school, I actually miss all the pranks and giggles that other students were doing. I was not included in them as I was too busy paying attention. I remember thinking I was better than other students because I actually focused in school, but later on I realized that I just missed all the fun. That's why in my last year I tried to chill a bit. I got more involved with other classmates and even pulled a prank with them. It was something really simple and not mean at all. It didn't even get us punished. But it was nice to get a peek of both worlds. Being the straight-A student and pulling a prank on the teachers.

Now that school has been over for a while for me, it's nice to have some fun memories to think about apart from just remembering myself studying all the time. With the story of u/DoublePreparation241, I got to remember the fun parts of school. Maybe this story is some kind of malicious compliance to the person that did it, but for me it seems just a funny, non-malicious prank to make the teacher more aware of himself. It didn't cause any real issues, and it made this user have a fun time doing it. So, staying in the funny pranks students pull in school, do you remember any that you did? 

There are very few things cuter than a baby kitten meowing and looking fluffy.

Our cats are our daily source of happiness and dopamine that we so desperately need. Their meowing and purring give us the jolt of joy that nothing else can provide. Their soft paws and fur, their cute faces- everything about them is the definition of cuteness overload.

If our adult cats, as they are, make us happy, imagine the rush of delight we feel when we receive a new baby kitten at home! Granted, baby kittens take quite a bit of work: they have to be fed and cleaned more often, especially if they are rescues and don't have their mom to look after them. In those cases, we become the new moms/dads and take on the paramount task of raising them to be happy and healthy. They need to be taken to the vet for an examination, and we have to follow their instructions to the letter. We want what's best for our pawdorable furry friends, so we leave nothing to chance. 

Of course, we wouldn't dream of leaving our grown cats alone; we love them just as much, and they have been with us forever! However, when they grow up, some tend to become more independent and only need us to feed them. If we are feeling like we have an empty nest, we might also have the wish to bring another cat, one to whom we can give all the residual love that our older cats refuse to accept from us. That way, everyone is happy! Our older cats can keep their independence without having us all over them the entire day; we get an outlet for our pet-love, and a baby finds a new home. It's a win-win type of situation. 

In some cases, the older cats might feel a bit more territorial. In those cases, we have to find a way to make them understand that they are not being replaced and that they need to be good to their younger siblings. When you think about it, cats are an awful lot like toddlers… Some of us might not have human children, but we sure are raising kids in our own way!

You know those popular reality TV shows where the storage facility auctions off random abandoned storage units? Ever wonder what the other side of the story was?

This Texas man was renting a climate-controlled storage unit in Texas for 3 years, paying the storage rental fees with automatic credit card payments. During a software update, the facility dropped off his automatic payment or otherwise lost his credit card information. The next time he went to visit the unit, he found that $14,000 of his belongings had been auctioned off to the highest bidder for $420. 

The facility admitted that the system had also glitched to stop sending no-payment notices from being sent but stated that their liability clause limited their liability to $200. They insultingly offered him a $200 gift card, of all things, in compensation. This left the man wondering what his options were for holding the storage facility accountable, and he turned to.

The irony that they offered him less in compensation than they profited from the errant sale just piles on the irony of this man's misfortune. Talk about great customer service… 

Should an employer have the right to mess around with employee break times?

Punctuality is one of those basic life skills that almost all workplaces are going to expect from their employees, but it is important to have some leeway. While it may be clear that anybody who takes endless lunch breaks or regularly clocks in at any old time is not properly fulfilling their duties, even decent workers have mishaps and bad days that mean that they do not strictly adhere to the hours they are supposed to be doing their job.

While it can be frustrating to deal with lateness as a boss, it is important to judge it on a case-by-case basis and offer understanding and support where appropriate. A role where an employee constantly feels judged for seemingly small mistakes, like a few missed minutes here and there, is not likely to do their best work or stay very long with the company. Being on time is a basic expectation to fulfil, but it is something that most people don't manage 100% of the time. Showing a little grace where possible can go a long way, unless the tardiness starts to become a pattern that can't be ignored.

When you work with kids, every day is an adventure. But you still don't expect the cat distribution system to get you while a group of boys hide from a little kitty. 

Kids really do keep us on our toes. Everything could be as calm as ever, and suddenly a scream, a cry, a shout at something. There's a sense volatile energy all the time, because with kids you never know what they're capable of. They're about as unpredictable as someone can get, and it gets worse when there's a group of them like at schools. Working in an elementary school is like being a babysitter of sorts, and every day feels like an adventure. Here, we have as spontaneous as it can get. An elementary school teacher is busy doing her normal job, when she suddenly hears screaming from the boy's bathroom. What does she find, but a little scared and skittish kitten backed up against the wall. She tries to run but couldn't get enough traction so the teacher scooped her up. She told the principal that she was going to take her home. She already has a variety of pets, namely a senior Siamese cat, a Pitbull puppy, and some chihuahuas. But all the animals promptly gave her proper love and care immediately. They gave her a good sniffing to greet her, and she really enjoyed it. She wants to name the little one Tinúviel, as a Tolkien fan. This is such a pure story of the transition of chaos into cuteness. Enjoy! 

If you HAVE to be there, then you NEED to get paid

I hate when managers threaten employees with getting fired after every little issue. I don't think that should be allowed at all. It's disrespectful, and it creates a toxic workspace environment where the employee complies with ANYTHING because they are afraid of being unemployed. If the only way you can say an order as a manager and make sure it's complied with by an employee is by threatening to fire them, maybe you aren't a good enough leader to be a boss.

I always have a lot of bad things to say about bosses. I hate when they micromanage, when they mistreat the employees, and especially when they threaten to fire them all the time. Here we have those three in just the story below. The boss was micromanaging to see if this employee was working till the last second of her shift. It was a couple of minutes before closing. She was allowed to have been finished for the day. Then it was the mistreatment and the threat of firing. These two appeared together when the manager decided that a great response to the employee saying that if she has to stay for a little more, she will just clock out as soon as she needs to go was to say: "No, I'll fire you".

I think a good leader wouldn't do things like this. And I also think the employee should do something about it. Whether it is talking to human resources or to a higher authority of the company. But this kind of behavior shouldn't be tolerable for anybody, and acting like this makes you an incapable boss. What would you do if you were in this situation? I would definitely reach out to somebody, and if nothing changed, I would consider resigning. There's probably a better job where employees don't have to put up with incapable managers like this. 

When we are stuck in the sorrow of the work week there is not a lot that we can do to change our situation. Most of us are stuck in an office, unable to quickly pop out for a head clearing stroll. Staying a whole extra hour on your first day might show commitment, but expecting an employee to come back after they've already gone home takes dedication to a whole different level.

There's nothing worse than a first day at a new job. Well… I'm sure it depends on the company you started working with, but overall, it's not a very pleasant day. Maybe you're a bit nervous; you're not really sure what exactly you're going to be doing… but it gets better with time. In this story, however, the opposite occurred with an intern who started his first day of work at a coaching office.

According to the job description, the work hours ended at 5:30 PM, but since it was his first day, he decided to stay until almost 7 PM, just to make sure that everything was okay. He got home close to 8 and got a call from his manager telling him to return to the office as soon as possible… he declined, of course. He stayed longer than he should, and there was not really a reason as to why he had to go back.

The manager, instead of being more understanding, decided to fire him on the spot. Not only that: she even mentioned that they value revenue and the company's success rather than the employees' personal lives… And I have a lot to say about this. 

First, no company can pretend that its employees only live to work, because it's the whole opposite: people live a life, and to be able to afford it, they have to work. So, to expect people to have all of their lives revolving around work is not possible or healthy. I'm glad that this intern lost the job; I'm sure there will be other opportunities for them in the short term.

Summer is great until you're covered in fur from head to toe and can't exactly change into shorts.

When the temperature starts climbing, cats know it's time to find the coolest spot in the house and claim it until further notice. That might mean stretching out directly in front of the air conditioner, parking themselves beside a fan, or abandoning their usual cozy beds for the bathroom floor. If there's a cold surface available, chances are a feline has already called dibs.

Fans are especially entertaining because cats seem to understand exactly what they're for. Plop down in front, let the breeze hit those whiskers, and suddenly you've got one very cool cat. Bonus points if their fur starts blowing around and gives them the glamorous wind-machine effect of a professional photoshoot. Work it, kitty.

Air conditioners offer an even more luxurious option. Why settle for a little breeze when you can position your entire body directly beneath a stream of cold air? These cats aren't paying the electric bill, so there's no reason to conserve. Turn that temperature down, hooman. Your furry roommate is melting.

Other felines get more creative. Sinks become summer beds, tile floors become prime real estate, and sprawled-out sleeping positions allow maximum belly exposure. The tightly curled winter ball has officially been replaced by the full-body sploot. Every inch of cat needs access to that precious cool air.

We can't blame them. Wearing a permanent fur coat in August sounds absolutely hiss-erable. If beating the heat means spending the afternoon belly-up in front of a fan while their hooman sweats somewhere else, so be it.

Stay cool, stay pawsitive, and please don't disturb the cat currently occupying the best spot in front of the AC.

Business partnerships among friends work a lot like school group projects. Everyone starts with good intentions, equal shares and responsibilities, then someone tries to piggyback their way to success. Only with a bunch of money on the line instead of a letter with a math symbol next to it

"This meeting could have been an email" has reached its final boss.

It's well known that most companies don't really care about wasting their employees' time for the false sense of productivity. What does that mean? Well, it means that even if companies know that they can save valuable time by turning some meetings into simple emails or allowing employees to work from home to avoid commute time, they still prefer to waste everyone's time for the sake of false productivity.

"Let's sit in this meeting room to discuss something that could have been a Slack message." "You need to drive to work every day for over an hour just so you could sit on an office chair for 9 hours and do the same thing you could have done from the comfort of your own bed", all so that your boss could see your pretty face and pretend like they actually know what you're doing all day.

If companies truly cared about productivity and getting work done, we know for a fact that employees would be much happier in the workplace, mostly because their workplaces would be their homes. Unless there is an actual, valid reason for someone to leave their house to work, say, they work as a pizza delivery person, working from home is just as good, if not better, for the company and the worker alike.

The employee who shared the story below on r/jobs is dealing with a company that has taken the demand to return to the office to the next level. Not only are they forced to work from an office after cancelling remote work, but what they end up doing in the office makes no sense whatsoever. Why make your employee arrive at the office, only for them to hop on a Zoom call with the people who are already physically there, and stare at each other's faces through a screen while sitting five feet apart from each other?

We hit a new low, folks.

She thought a neighborhood stray needed her help, but a few weeks later, she would need him just as much.

This fluffy white feline had been wandering around the neighborhood for a while, but his future pawrent never thought much of it. He was so pretty and well-kept from a distance that she figured he probably had a home nearby and was simply enjoying some outdoor adventures. Then one day, he planted himself on her back porch for hours and gave her the chance to get a better look at him.

Up close, it became pretty clear that this handsome boy could use some help. She decided to try getting him into a kennel, fully expecting him to reject that idea immediately. Apparently, she underestimated the persuasive powers of tuna. One tasty bribe later, he walked right in and was off to the vet. Somewhere between scooping him up and getting him checked out, the idea of sending him back outside went out the window. This boy had found his home.

Then, only a few weeks after he arrived, his new pawrent unexpectedly lost her dad.

Later, she came across the belief that white cats can be viewed as spiritual messengers, arriving to offer protection and healing. She doesn't consider herself particularly spiritual, but it was hard not to think about the timing. Her new companion had wandered into her life right before everything changed, giving her a fluffy little presence to come home to while dealing with an unimaginable loss.

Maybe this beautiful boy had been wandering the neighborhood until he found the porch he liked best. Maybe tuna simply sealed the deal. His pawrent prefers to think there was a little more behind his arrival, and we can certainly understand why.

She opened her door because he needed somewhere safe to land, only to discover she would soon need him right there beside her too.
