It is one thing to wake up to the Christmas-like joy of finding a cat in a box plonked outside your front door. But it is a whole different story when that happens 3 times and you hardly have space to make the latest arrival to your cat rescue comfortable. But that is the story of u/Chuphojaabhai the heroic hooman who has dedicated his life to the love of cat kind.

You can tell that this rescuer is a truly lover of cats, if not only for the fact that he posted this story on Reddit's r/OneOrangeBraincell, a place for fans of brainless felines converge to cackle at the hilarity of a cunning cat with no concept of three dimensional space for example. So not quite the place you would usually post a rescue story. Nonetheless, the tale of this orange idiot is an endearing one and one that shows just how important it is to show up for cats, no matter the cost.

It is a story that shows how little you need to make an impact, and how vital people like this rescuer are. Without him in the picture and as a known member in his community, this kitten could have very well found itself on the side of a road, in a dump, or far worse. But thanks to this rescuer's fame in the community there was another, no guilt option available to at least attempt to ensure a decent continuation of life for the tiny cat who suddenly had no home. 
 

Some decisions are supposed to be taken without thinking too much about them

I know this advice can sound strange, but sometimes intuition is pointing in the right direction. People who love us oftentimes try to help us make good decisions, but they have a limit to what they can know. They only have their experience and their lives as reference. And their lives, naturally, are very different from ours.

Redditors under /askreddit started sharing experiences where they made decisions based on a gut feeling, and then proceeded to succeed.

I'm not saying you shouldn't consider anything before making a major life decision; you definitely should. But intuition exists for a reason, and it's better to fail at doing something you love than failing at something you don't, or so they say. What I mean is, traditional paths are not secure either, so if your future is not going to be secure anyway, better take the chance.

My grandmother always told me that I could change paths any time I wanted to, and as many times as I wanted to, and I took that to heart. There is no age limit to change, and every circumstance, as hard as it might seem, has in itself the possibility to untangle it.

We all know at least one person who is incapable of admitting to their mistakes.

In their eyes, it doesn't matter what led to the mistake happening; everyone else is at fault but them. Even if you only imply that they should take responsibility for their own actions, they will act as if you wronged them and their entire family. It's impossible to win an argument with them.

The very least you can do is not give in to their demands. They can act like their mistakes are yours all they want, but that doesn't mean they will get what they are after. When it comes to the service industry, there are plenty of ways to teach people like this that they can't always get away with blaming other people for their faults.

There is a lot this customer refuses to come to terms with; his mistake is one among many things he decided to blame on the hotel that was unable to accept him as a guest. It all started when he arrived at the front desk and discovered his booking did not appear in the system. After some digging, the front desk clerk found that a booking had been made in the name of this guy, on the same date, but to a year ago.

Apparently, the guy did not notice the wrong date, but not only that, he didn't check his emails for confirmation, didn't notice the charge made when he failed to show up for the booking last year, and didn't think to check that his reservation still existed after he made it so long ago. Even though all of these were actions he failed to do, he still blamed the hotel for not informing him of the error.

Since the hotel was fully booked, they were unable to give the guy a room, which, after all of his claims and accusations, we're sure they didn't mind. The guy, who clearly had issues with taking responsibility, doesn't sound like the best customer to serve…

The internet doesn't make cat memes like it used to. But we do.

The landscape of the internet has changed quite a bit since I was a kid, to say the least. Gone are the days of the 5-minute loading time while your dial-up modem connected you to the internet, when we made the original memes on Microsoft Paint or the early versions of Photoshop, before YouTube was even a seed of an idea in someone's brain. Now anyone with a phone has immediate access to the internet, and memes are a dime a dozen. It's so easy to make them that the internet is literally saturated with them, and they've lost a bit of the soul they had when they were first created.

It's natural that the internet today looks completely different from what it looked like 20+ years ago. Technology advanced, and so did our tastes. No one has the attention span to watch hours of Nyan Cat racing through his pixelated universe or the patience to hear the Hamster Dance play over and over again while scrolling. But there is a big part of me that misses the human element that went into the creation of all of these early memes of the internet. They weren't purrfect, they weren't tailored for viral success - they were just silly and caught on because they were ridiculous.

Sadly, not every family has this knowledge, and mothers-in-law still act as if their sons depend on them for their every move. In my opinion, the fact that she encounters no boundaries when she displays this sort of attitude is an advantage for her, and she will continue to cross them every time she can if nobody puts an end to it, because she is consciously or subconsciously trying to sabotage her son's relationship. Of course, I believe the one who should be setting the boundaries is the son.

Some mothers need to understand that their sons have already grown up, and if they can't comprehend that on their own, they should definitely receive some help to achieve that realization.

I hate when people deem a favor you do as something that you HAD to do. You offer to do something for someone because you appreciate them and want to help them out. But then you get hit with something that reminds you that they didn't deserve it at all and are ungrateful towards your hard work, and then you feel bad. You were doing something genuinely nice, and it got deemed as if it was nothing. That is not only completely unfair, but it also proves that the person didn't deserve it, as they are mean.

In the story below, we get one of those cases. We get a woman who git asked by her boyfriend to make a birthday cake for this man's daughter as he didn't have the money or the time to buy her one. This woman accepted it because she loved that girl and she had no problem helping out. She did it and took it to the party, but wasn't able to stay long as she had to go to work. During her time at the party, she was asked if she wanted something to eat by her boyfriend's family members. She kindly denied, as she needed to go. That, apparently, was taken as some kind of insult by that man's family. So, later that day, he confronted her and said that she should have just accepted the food.

Now, this woman made a birthday cake for free to this man's daughter just because it was on her kind heart to help out. But her boyfriend, instead of appreciating the gesture and the fact that she even made time to drop it off, just confronted her about not accepting food from his family. Do you get why this woman was mad, right? You have to be so dumb to pull something like this after someone made an effort for you because of how much they appreciate you. It's good that this woman broke up with someone who behaved like this. She deserved way better!

No amount of time with our cats will ever be enough time. 

Spending 18 years with your cat is an amazing feat. It's something that we wish we could have with our cats. I look at my little fluffball, 11 years old, and I pray every day that she lives so many more years. But at the same time, I know that if I'm lucky enough to have her live till 18, I will still not feel like it was enough time. Because it never is, is it? 18 years were certainly not enough for the person whose story we'll be talking about today. Cats should live forever. 

You can never know how long you have with your feline. That's why we say that you should always make the best out of every second with them. Ginger was loved his entire life by his owner. For 18 long and beautiful years, this cat was spoiled and loved, and his life was everything that it was supposed to be. Sometimes you realize that a relationship is over because of the simplest things.

You don't have to be a math wiz or statistician to know that 132% of a set whole amount is statistically impossible. But who needs real math anyway?

A statistics professor imposed a strict group-project rule stating that every member of the group must complete an equal share of the work. This was determined by a confidential self-report made by each member of the 4-person group at the end of the project, where each member reported the percentage they had completed. 

This was done under the threat that if the total of all 4 reports didn't "match up perfectly, " every member of the group would receive a 0 on the project. But when one slacking group member didn't do any work, and his 3 group members each claimed the 33% share of the work that they had fairly completed, the slacker went ahead and claimed another 33% "equal" portion anyway. While this technically followed the professor's rules, he called them out on the fact that the total did not equal 100%. Under threat of failing the project and the class, the group members were forced to think on their feet and make 132%=100%.

The intention was clear: solve the frequent problem with group projects where some members of the group don't pull their weight and ensure that everyone did an equal part of the project. But that's just not how it turned out.

And yes, his saying that she lacked motivation was the kick she needed to go after what she wanted, but it wasn't petty or just a way of revenge. Mind you, she had wanted to go back to school for a long time. 

It definitely sounds like the boyfriend likes to put her down. First, he says she lacks motivation, and when she gets it and does something for herself, he accuses her of being petty and inconsiderate. That is classic manipulation, the kind of man who likes to put down his partner to make themselves feel better and more important. Our advice for this girl is: cut him off. He doesn't really love her, and she clearly doesn't need him. He's only going to try to guilt-trip her over this, and who knows over what else. Those are the kinds of relationships it's best to get out of on time.

When a cat spots their forever person, they will do anything and everything to get to them. 

And we do mean anything. We have seen some amazing stories like this. Cats come to their humans in the most unexpected ways sometimes. You could be having a completely normal day, on a walk, when a cat will follow you home - no warning, no question. They will walk right through the front door with you. They will even do more than that. A cat can seek you out. You might be someone who has never wanted a cat, someone who would need some convincing, but if you are chosen by a cat, then don't worry, a cat will take its time convincing you to let it into your home. A cat could spend months convincing you, but eventually, you will cave.

Move over Mufasa, Scar, and Simba - there's a new legendary lion(ess) in town, and her name is Josie.

We've all heard it before, probably for the first time in your 8th-grade biology class: "survival of the fittest". Only the strongest survive; mercy for none. By all accounts, Josie should not have lived to be 17-years-old, which is far longer than the average lifespan of a generic lioness. At the age of 12, she started going blind and her body started to slow down. Her pride, valuing the survival of the group over the individual, left her behind. 

But not everyone left. Her daughters, Dawn and Duffy, stayed with her. 

Thanks to a viral post on X from @Rainmaker1973, we learned that Josie's daughters protected her from scavengers or a bold predator hoping to take down an easy catch, they made sure she always ate first, and helped direct her through rough terrain with soft calls. 

These three legendary lionesses made history in Addo Elephant National Park, and will not soon be forgotten. Their story of feline family, survival, and determination to survive is one that we can all look at and collectively say, "Wow."

If you ever wonder whether there is an ulterior motive for a policy, all you have to do is take a look at whether or not it even makes sense.

An employer changed its flexible 2-day-a-week working policy to a mandatory return-to-office 4-day-a-week requirement. Except no one stopped to consider the fact that the office space was too small for everyone to work there at once. This created a situation where employees are now being forced to work from odd places, and even the cafeteria, just to have a place to sit.

When work from home hit full force because of certain events, many companies elected to downsize their offices—or did away with them entirely. That, or they have simply grown since everyone had to work in the office.

So what happens when your company adopts a trendy Return to Office (RTO) policy demanding that everyone work from the office from now on?

Some cats wake up ready to seize the day. Lazy cats would prefer the day stop making so much noise while they're trying to sleep.

These felines have perfected the art of doing as little as pawsible. Getting off the couch is a major commitment, walking across the room requires careful consideration, and anything more than a paw's reach away might as well be in another country. Why waste precious energy retrieving something when a perfectly capable hooman is standing right there?

Their schedules are packed, too. Breakfast at eight, nap at eight-oh-five, move three feet into a sunbeam around eleven, nap again, scream for lunch, and recover from lunch with another nap. Somewhere around four, they may find the strength to stare out the window or knock one object off a table. After a day that demanding, dinner better be served on time.

Movement is kept to an absolute minimum whenever pawsible. If the water bowl is too far away, they'll simply wait until thirst becomes a future problem. A toy rolls six inches out of reach? That toy belongs to the floor now. Even turning over during a nap can look like a major physical undertaking, complete with a dramatic stretch and several minutes of recovery afterward. These cats aren't wasting a single ounce of energy unless treats are involved, and even then, delivery is preferred.

Playtime has limits too. Wave the toy closer. No, closer. Still too far. Practically place it between their paws and maybe they'll give it one lazy swat before deciding they've done enough cardio for the week.

Somehow, after sleeping most of the day, these cats still look exhausted. It's almost impressive.

Maybe they'll accomplish something tomorrow. Maybe they'll move to the other side of the couch. Either way, another nap comes first.

Thursday feels a little less like the weird bridge to Friday when fluffy paws, ridiculous feline logic, and a few well-timed meows take over the timeline.

A 31-year-old employee became the top-performing member of his team after seven years of working for the same company. Normally, he expected to be promoted to a manager role when his current boss was moved to another department. 

However, things took a turn when they hired a woman that has no experience in the field, since they thought this was going to bring fresh air and more clear perspective. When mysterious meows started coming from a parked car, one couple quickly realized their morning plans were about to change.

One rescuer was heading out for the day when desperate little cries stopped him in his tracks. After following the sound around the bottom of his building, he traced it to the front hood of a parked car. Hiding near the engine was a scared kitten who had somehow found his way into one of the last places anyone would want a little feline hanging out.

Getting him out was another story. The kitten had no intention of leaving his hiding place just because two concerned hoomans asked nicely. The rescuer and his girlfriend brought over food and water, settled down beside the stranger's car, and waited. And waited. Hours passed while they sat on the ground trying to convince their unexpected neighbor that coming out was a much better option than remaining under the hood.

Eventually, all that patience paid off. The kitten ventured far enough out for the couple to grab him and finally get him somewhere safe. After spending who knows how long tucked beside an engine, the little survivor could eat, drink, and relax without any cars starting up around him.

His rescuers are now searching for a possible owner and plan to get him checked out by a vet once the weather cools down. There's still a chance someone nearby is missing their adventurous little guy, so they aren't declaring him theirs quite yet.

If nobody comes forward, though, the CDS may have already handled that part. Spending hours beside a stranger's car to save one kitten sounds suspiciously like the beginning of a new cat pawrent origin story.

Next time, CDS, a cardboard box on the porch will do just fine.
