This is one of those sweet stories where it's the cat who finds their human, and not the human who finds the cat. Sometimes the cat distribution system sends an adorable kitten beside your son at the bus stop. When that happens, you have no option. You have to take her home. 

When you are the chosen one, a short walk home can become an unexpected kitten rescue. You only had slippers to take the cat? Well, then, put it inside your slipper! The cat distribution system doesn't send a calendar invitation. There's no way you could be prepared for this, so you have to adapt and use whatever you have at hand at the moment. This woman had a slipper, and she wasn't afraid to use it. Nobody brings kitten rescue supplies when picking up their child at the bus stop.

The kitten was dangerously close to the street, so the boy's mom felt she had to take the tiny cat somewhere safer. She carried the kitten in the slipper and took her home. The kitten fit inside perfectly and felt safer than being alone in the street. Once she was safe at home, the boy's mom gave her something to eat and quickly started working on better accommodations. 

When you find a vulnerable animal stranded on the street, there's no way you can leave it like that. Or at least I feel that way. If I can't adopt the animal, at least I can take it home for the day and find a proper owner. That might have been the original plan of this mom, but after taking so much care of the kitten, the kitty started to grow on her. She made her a temporary bed; she bought her food and toys; she made her interact with his dog… She realized she was clearly getting attached. So much so that she ended up naming her Ivy. Such a cute name.  

Sometimes, all somebody needs to hear is a blunt truth

Usually, these types of comments are met with a lot of defensiveness, and precisely the way they are expressed is what prevents the message from being received; but sometimes a glitch in the matrix occurs, and a once-in-a-lifetime opening appears, and by saying the brutally honest comment, one gets a message across that wouldn't have been well received or accepted in any other way.

This story was written under the r/tragedeigh subreddit, so I imagine you can tell what it's about. Simply put, it is not necessary to overcomplicate names to make them sound more epic; they end up sounding ridiculous, and normal names can be beautiful and mysterious too.

I think this mother did well by pitching her baby-name idea before actually naming her child; maybe she was consciously trying to gauge the reaction. I assume that if you're planning to give your baby such a strange name, you are well aware it might cause some controversy, but I guess this mother couldn't see what kind of controversy the name would cause until she received that unfortunate comment.

Look, everyone should be free to name their child however they want, but in my opinion, they should do so with the knowledge that doing that could potentially grant them some extra difficulties with peers at school.

Summer is almost over, but the sun is still putting in overtime. 

August is officially almost at an end. Summer. It's nearly behind us. All the heat outside, the freezing AC inside. Or at least it should be. We always think cats are angry and secretly judging us, and they are, but they also have moments of happiness!

Happiness doesn't look the same for everybody. For some, it means to laugh until you run out of air; others think that happiness means to be in a state of general peace and satisfaction with yourself. No matter what we understand as the definition of happiness, somehow we always manage to transmit the exact feeling, with surgical precision, to whoever is listening to us. Unlike sadness, which tends to be particular for every person, happiness is a feeling that's individually defined but universally understood. Maybe that's because there's so much poetry trying to figure out sadness and all its different sources, and very little (in comparison) dedicated to explaining happiness. That one is easier to understand: you feel complete, joyful, your brain is flooded with dopamine, and your whole body is relaxed. No matter how you define it, you always know what it means. 

Since happiness looks different for human beings, it wouldn't be crazy to assume that it also looks different for animals. For dogs is easy to spot: they wag their tails, jump, bark, run around, and live like everyday it's a party. We love them for their enthusiasm. For cats, it seems to be nothing of the sort. They don't have such obvious ways to show they're happy, and that's why sometimes we don't really know how our furry friends are actually feeling. Their tails don't wag; they only meow when they want something, and running around is simply beneath them. So, how do we know if our cat is happy? They have other tells.

They blink slowly while looking at us; they follow us around the house and curl up beside us on the couch; they look for proximity, not contact; they close their eyes and fall asleep in our presence because they feel comfortable and protected. A happy cat doesn't make a fuss; they coexist quietly with us. If we pay enough attention, we'll notice in an instant how comfortable, how happy, and how loved they feel. That's all we need.

It's not a nice gesture if you have to beg people to accept your gift.

I bet that buying a home for the first time as a couple is super exciting, but I also bet that it's extremely expensive. We hear all the time that buying a house is almost impossible for people nowadays, and it's true. But some people work really hard and achieve that dream. That doesn't mean that it implies a huge financial deal where they need to start cutting back and saving so they can pay mortgages and debt. That's why some families have the nice gesture of helping out. They either help with remodeling and painting, or they provide the couple with some appliances or furniture. Some families are in the financial position to buy new things. Others just offer their old ones, which doesn't mean that it's not good, but it's not exactly the same.

In this story, u/Lovebug_Olivea tells us that she and her boyfriend have just moved into the house they bought. As a gift to "help them out", her in-laws offered their old furniture so they didn't have to spend money buying it. This furniture is pretty outdated, and it doesn't go with the aesthetic they are planning for their home. They do not like it at all. So they kindly thanked them for the offer but decided not to take it, as they don't like it in their home. This created a big family drama, of course. Her boyfriend's mother was deeply hurt by this to the point that she made her husband call the young couple and make them feel bad about their decision.

Now the couple is in a difficult position. They really don't want the furniture, but the position they are in is deeply uncomfortable. They are starting to think that maybe they should accept something just so everyone calms down, but should they? They hate the furniture. It was a gift, a pass-on. Is it really necessary that they accept it? I think they have every right to say no to it. But maybe it's better to just do it to avoid the family drama. 

The passing of a pet is a difficult time for any pawrent. But the time it takes us to recover and find a new pet to pour our soul into varies greatly. Some pawrents never recover, and others, like the pawrent in this story find themselves with new pets mere moments into their recovery journey.

Now, losing a dog and gaining a family of kittens is not quite a one to one trade. But when you are gifted something so special, so sweet and so uplifting, it does not matter whether it solely fills or completely overfills the hole in your heart. Had she not been willing to step up, while also stepping back from her grief then it is hard to say what might have happened to these poor felines. As the title mentions, when she found them she actually saved them from an invading tom cat. A situation that could have ended very badly for all involved. But most of all this story is about how love is much like an energy. It cannot be created or destroyed, it is recycled, and just because you might have lost a love, it does not mean that energy will not come back to you one day.
 

Making a good impression during a job interview goes both ways.

While the main focus is almost always the candidate and whether they would be suitable for the role, this is also an opportunity for them to assess the company and whether they would feel comfortable working there. Many employers automatically assume that receiving a job offer from them will be seen as the ultimate honor, when in reality, that sometimes couldn't be further from the truth. Remote jobs have their lights and shadows. Some days you don't even get out of your pajamas, and you end up feeling like a giant slug. Some days you stop so many times to do random household chores that you end up working double time just because you couldn't stop getting distracted. Where did the habit of having reasonable aspirations go?

Some of us only want jobs that pay a normal amount of money and let us check out and go chill at our homes without worrying about anything work-related for the rest of the day. Some of us want to be clerks, cashiers, and receptionists; we want to do our jobs well, but we don't want to have major responsibilities, only little ones.

Is it so hard to understand that some people are not looking to become great entrepreneurs or CEOs, and actually desire to have close-to-zero impact in the company? Not in a negative way; I mean being a stable, kind-spirited, 'mid' employee.

For some of us, life begins the minute we clock out; and it's not because we're chasing this big dream outside our jobs. Maybe it's just because we enjoy the art of doing nothing, or the art of lying in the sun, or the art of spending time with friends, and we don't have many aspirations related to our careers, only the aspiration to enjoy the present moment, and the moment that comes immediately after it.

Going on a trip with a friend has only two possible outcomes. Let's hope it's the good one!

When planning a trip with a friend, there is a lot that can happen. You can fight over what activities to do, you can argue about the money you are spending in hotel rooms, you can distance yourselves from each other because of the awful time you shared during said trip. But it can also have a positive outcome: you can grow closer because of the trip bonding, you can learn more about each other, you can discover that going on trips with friends is the best way to spend vacation. That all depends solely on the attitude all of you have during the trip. How you compromise and communicate, trying to maintain your tones and have the best time together you can possibly have.

As someone who LOVES friends' trips, I can give you a bunch of reasons why they are the best kind of vacation you can get. But if you have the wrong attitude, then they won't work. I have gone on trips with friends, and it's important to keep in mind that you are going with people you like, people you care about. So, no matter the situation or the frustration you may feel, remain civil and kind. You don't want to fight and argue for days. You want to spend a nice time with amazing people. A lot can happen on a trip. Try to let the bad parts slip in, and the good parts become the main memories.

I remember that on my last trip with friends, we argued because of the condition that the apartment we were staying in was in. The place was great, but we were leaving dirty plates in the sink and clothes on the floor. It made me crazy. Instead of confronting them, I did something better. I started cleaning and kindly asked for help. They all pitched in, and in no time the place was looking great. So, don't be like the people from the story. Talk to your friends. You will probably find a solution where we all get what we want. And if not, maybe they aren't that good of friends.

Calling out to all non-cat lovers! Wait… what? Isn't this supposed to be a cat-loving post? Let me give you a quick answer to that: yes, it is. But hear me out. I grew up not liking cats at all and being an absolute dog-loving person. I've never given much thought to cats, just thought they were the enemies of dogs, and that's it. However, as I became an older (and wiser) person, I was able to identify a lot of reasons as to why I love cats.

Mainly, they are not only incredibly funny, but they are crazy smart. The fact that they always land on their feet has to give you an idea of how superior they are. They are the only species on Earth that are able to do that, in the physical way and in the rhetorical way. Not only that, they are the cutest and a great companion for humans as well, without the neediness of a dog. 

Although both are awesome, I would never give up my love for dogs. I think it is great to appreciate both of them, and to have space in our hearts for as many cats and dogs as may appear in our lives.

Basically, if you heard about it, it's because it's already old

10 Years ago, if you got into Tech, and stuck to it as a career path, it would've been a great decision. Today, even though we're facing a major revolution in the tech industry, it's no use trying to get in there when the experts are already training bots to eliminate all the entry-level jobs you would have 5 years down the line when you finish studying.

Still, I'm no expert, and I can't assure you what areas inside tech have a future, but from what I see, everything, not only tech, is rapidly evolving, or should I say 'changing'? Using the word " evolution might be a little too optimistic, in my opinion.

Today I saw an Instagram reel where a girl said that party-planner positions were in high demand right now because there is a growing tendency to try to make culture 'happen' somewhere outside the virtual world, and that, in my opinion, could be the key to careers of the future. Contrary to what baby boomers would assume, soft skills might become all the rage in the upcoming years.

If I'm being one hundred percent honest, I don't think predictions ever age well; we could've never predicted the rise of AI; we could've never predicted everybody was going to work from home at one point; we could've never predicted so many things.

In the end, I think choosing a career path only works well when you choose something you're truly passionate about, because that passion is going to help you find a way to success if your career is not the highest-paid in the market, and it's also going to help you escalate if it is.

Some people come home from a wine tour with a few bottles. Others somehow come home responsible for a kitten.

Reddit user Lovable_Geek had snagged a spot on a private wine tour with 13 other women for an afternoon of sipping and sightseeing. At the third stop, a cider farm, the group immediately noticed several cats hanging around the parking area. One tiny orange kitten quickly stole everyone's attention, happily being held and soaking up pets from 14 new admirers.

The tour guide mentioned that the kitten was available for adoption. His two siblings had already found homes, while the kittens' feral parents had arrived at the farm back in May. After the tasting, Lovable_Geek went back to spend more time with the little orange and casually asked the owner what adopting him would involve.

Turns out, not much. The farm taped up a box, added some air holes, and suddenly there was a kitten joining the ride home. Nothing like heading out for an afternoon of cider and returning with an entirely new family member.

The spicy little orange wasn't thrilled about staying inside his makeshift carrier and kept attempting an escape, so friends met them back in the city with a proper one. He's now staying separately in the bathroom while getting treated for fleas and parasites. The resident dog is already obsessed with him, while the adult cat has chosen offense.

A vet appointment also delivered one surprise: the kitten everyone thought was a girl is actually a boy. Despite being a little small and needing some extra care, he was a total champ for his blood draw.
