Cats have been adored by humanity for millennia. As a frequent flyer at the laundromat, I know exactly what I would do… 30 minutes is maybe even too long a grace period in my book. 

Was this father entitled to be included?

What stands out in this story is that the father seems to be sending two conflicting messages: one that he can't be bothered to make the effort to see his daughter on her graduation day, and the other that he wants to be a part of the milestone and the celebration. I genuinely wonder if his wrath is not deep down directed at his own contradictions. This made me miss the times when one had to confront only the situations that happened in real life, and then they were talked through exclusively face-to-face (except for handwritten letters, but you understand me). There wasn't a possibility of getting home after a very busy celebration day and finding a hundred text messages with all the stream of consciousness of your angry father. You could delay the talk until things cool down a little, and everyone involved has thought through it, especially in this case, since the father lived far away.

Saving kittens is the easy part. The real challenge begins once you bring them home.

While Reddit's r/kittens subreddit is full of cute kitten photos, stories like this reveal the reality behind many rescues. After pulling a litter of kittens from beneath a dilapidated old deck, one compassionate rescuer reached out for help, only to find that no local rescue organizations could take them. Rather than leave the kittens without care, they took on the challenge themselves. 

The kittens had a rough start. After being rescued, they needed round-the-clock attention. Fleas became one of the biggest hurdles, especially because the kittens were too young for standard treatments. The runt of the litter has needed even more care to make sure it's eating enough and keeping up with its siblings.

The rescue effort has also come with a financial commitment. Between vet visits, supplies, food, and other necessities, the foster caregiver has spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket to make sure the kittens have everything they need.

Despite the challenges, the reward has been watching the litter slowly grow stronger with each passing day. What started as a group of fragile kittens hiding beneath a neglected deck has become a litter of thriving little personalities. The kittens may eventually move on to forever homes, but it's easy to understand why their rescuer is already dreading that day. After all that time, effort, and love, they've become much more than temporary guests.

When something goes missing, we tend to think of anyone who's not family as an intruder. For instance, the other day I was crashing at a friend's house, and she accused me of unplugging the refrigerator and causing everything to defrost. I said I didn't remember doing that, but I was ready to take care of it financially . After we finished cleaning it up, she suddenly remembered she had done it earlier that evening, when she was looking for an adapter for her charger and forgot to plug it back in. I remember the situation so clearly because in that moment, I reflected on how her first impulse was to blame the intruder. Anyway, I didn't  take that personally because I understood  where it came from, and also because I've experienced it myself from my friend's perspective. What's the worst-case scenario when flying in a passenger airplane? A faulty landing, duct-tape on the wings at the tarmac, or an unforeseen medical emergency?

Cruising at 20,000 feet up in the sky, this medical emergency happened with the right collection of passengers aboard: a pair of dating doctors with complimentary PhD's in medical responses. Luckily, this passenger was well taken care of, but the airline made a serious fumble afterwards when they tried to "thank" their on-flight heroes. As if the insult of a meager 25,000 fly points wasn't enough to feel under-appreciated, the airline also sent correspondence that misnomered their two heroes. Well, more specifically, just the woman.

While the dating doctors are both certified PhD physicians, in all the paperwork, they only referred to the boyfriend as "Doctor" and his comrade and partner as "Miss." On top of the very small expression of gratitude (25,000 fly points), this title mix-up rubbed this hero the wrong way, causing her to dash online to Reddit's r/MildlyInfuriating subreddit to vent about it all. 

Normally, I don't care about titles or misnomers; I've been incorrectly called "Jessica" my entire life. However, when it comes to an earned title, one that takes 10+ years of student labor, late nights, and lab hours to achieve, you better believe I'm calling someone "Doctor" if they've earned it. Especially in the medical field, this sort of title has earned the respect not to be forgotten, no matter what gender you are. Perhaps it was just a clerical mistake on behalf of the airline, but I think this might earn this lady doctor more than just a one-way ticket to Cleveland or Orlando. 

Perhaps her PhD, as well as her epic heroism on a flight gone wrong, should earn her a more heroic title than "Miss" or "Ma'am." Where do you stand on this? Although it's just a technicality and therefore only "mildly infuriating," I think this particular argument should be brought up on the corporate flagpole, if not for any other reason than to score a few more fly miles as a reward.
