Since the weather is getting warmer and the sun is shining stronger and stronger every passing day, we now get to wake up to a cheerful morning.

On some days, we know exactly what our mood will be the moment we open our eyes in the morning. And for us? Well, setting aside just how great it feels to wake up to a sunny morning, not being woken up to cat screams about breakfast is also a great bonus. There is something so wholesome about a cat curled up on the bed, warm and cozy thanks to the sunshine, simply content to be alive. We can spend hours just staring at our little fluffballs like that, as we are tempted to throw our workday out of the window and join them for another long and restful nap.

Smart mama cats don't wait for purrmission to come inside. 

This mama-cat-to-be didn't wait for purrmission or a formal invitation to this hooman's home, she knew she needed a safe, warm place to give birth to her litter of kittens, but she didn't expect the love, compassion, and the overwhelming sense of belonging she felt when entering this person's house.

A cookie, fresh from the oven, is a sensory experience all on its own. The warmth and gooiness of a soft, fresh from the oven cookie. It's satisfying and warms your soul more than your body's nutrient needs. Cats give a simple and relatable ease. They're living, breathing things and can curl up beside you, purr, and do a little kneading on you also. There's a quietness and safe atmosphere when you're around them. They don't rush you, nor does a cookie. There's a simple existence to them. 

People who say that they "don't like cats" are people who have never actually given cats a fair chance. 

Cats get a bad rep. Every cat person knows this. It's just that we, actual self-proclaimed cat connoisseurs, care enough to check if those rumors are correct. Of course, they are not. Cats are not aloof, uncaring creatures. Cats are not mean. Cats love their humans very much, even if their way of showing it is not what you instinctively expect. Cats and dogs are different, that's true, but one is not a better pet than the other. 

For people who claim that they are "not cat people", it's just a matter of meeting the right cat. Not all of them will. Not all of them are deemed worthy by the CDS. Some haters will remain haters, and quite frankly, it is their loss. More cats for us to adopt. But some of them will be deemed worthy. Some people who "hate cats" will get adopted by a cat, and they will have their entire worldview about cats shattered. Because cats are pawsome pets. This couple is proof of that. Once upon a time, they were "dog people", and now, they have not one, but two kitties living in their home.

Few people give timid cats a chance, but those who do are always happy that they did. 

Cats who have previously been strays are not always the simplest cats. And that is fair. They have a history, they have stories to tell, they have lived a whole life - with difficulties of their own - that you know nothing about. These timid cats who are afraid of humans are generally afraid of them for a reason. Not every human is a cat person, as difficult as they may be for people like us to understand, and while most of those people don't care about cats, some of them are actively terrible to them. 

Still, winning a timid cat's love is something so, so worth it. Getting a cat to trust you, to see - in you - that not all humans are terrible, is worth every bit of effort. Maybe their love wouldn't come as quickly as that of another cat. And maybe these cats will show their love in ways that are a little different. In the end, it will all be worth it. All these cats need is a chance, and once you earn their love, they will love you just as hard, if not harder, than any other cat. 

Cats never cease to surprise us.

Even after millennia of cats living side by side with us (as they graciously permit us to), even after years upon years of sharing amazing stories online of cats from all over the world (just as the online feline family does best), after decades of scientific research into cats (because they're that interesting) - cats seem to still hold so many suprises up their paws, and we are constantly amazed by every new discovery we make. Indeed, very exciting. This is what happened with Lenny, the street cat with a long, almost grueling adoption story (told below in full) - but the family who cared for him never gave up on the little guy. Because, like all cat people, they know - all cats deserve a home. Whether they're the plainest of colors, or unique just like him - his fur genetics explained by kind people who were mesmerized by his added pictures. Truly, such a handsome cat.

Cats are the pawfessional nappers of the animal world, and that's a feline fact.

Some would argue that the title for the best sleeper in the animal kingdom should go to another animal. There are burly bears, who hibernate between 3-8 months in winter - that's such a long sleep, we're surprised they need any other sleeping time after they wake from hibernating. There are also bats - did you know they sleep 18-20 hours a day, while they're hung upside down like mice curtains? That's talent. Koalas are also great condedants for the tired crown, sleeping even more than 20 hours a day. You see, the eucalyptus leaves they eat are so low in energy (and mildly toxic) that koalas conserve power by… doing absolutely nothing most of the time.

But then you have cats. Cats don't hibernate, but Olympic napping is probably the sport they'll always win gold in. Cats nap pawfessionally, and they do it anywhere: on their humans, on the couch, in cardboard boxes, on your pillow, and in every nook and cranny you don't even know a cat could fit in. And they do it in a respectable 12-16 hours a day. If that's not what professional napping looks like, we don't know what is.

Besides, if you're a cat pawrent, we're pretty sure you're already reading these very words with a cat on your lap, sleeping, of course. Moreover, if you're a cat pawrent, you already know your cat is the best sleeper in the house. It doesn't matter how many of your family members sleep very well each night, or if you have other pets - the cat always wins the gold medal of best sleeping creature.

One meow at the patio door turned into six cats. 

A young pregnant cat abandoned by a previous tenant started showing up at a new apartment, begging to be let in. Since there was already a cat in the home, she was given a shelter in the patio closet, some kitten food, and a safe place to stay. Then, just over a week after moving in, she gave birth there to five kittens. Not bad for what started as helping out a stray.

Then came the vet visit, and thankfully everyone got a clean bill of health. Momma cat, now Arya, is doing well, the kittens are growing, and the whole family was able to move indoors. What started in a patio closet has turned into a full little nursery set up in the guest bathroom while the babies grow.

A cat that had been abandoned now has a name, a safe home, food, medical care, and people fussing over her and her kittens. The image of tracking kitten weights one week into knowing them says a lot. These little guys are clearly in good hands.

And Arya seems to know it too. Going from meowing at a patio door to slow blinking at the people caring for her babies is a pretty sweet turn. Someone went looking for one cat and ended up with a mom and five kittens instead. Feels like the cat distribution system really outdid itself on this one.

Nothing says peak coziness like a full-blown cat cuddle puddle.

Cuddle puddles are what happen when cats forget they're supposed to act aloof. All that independence disappears the second a good snuggle pile forms. Suddenly it's tails wrapped together, paws thrown over shoulders, and multiple cats somehow sharing one bed made for half of one cat.

The best part is how excessive it gets. Two cats cuddling is sweet. Five cats stacked in a furry heap looks like a sleepover got out of hand. Someone is always using another cat as a pillow. Someone is half falling off the pile. Somehow everyone seems comfortable anyway.

Cat cuddle piles also have a way of looking both chaotic and completely peaceful. It's a tangle of ears, whiskers, and mystery limbs where nobody seems interested in personal space. The cats are packed in so tightly they look vacuum sealed. It feels less like cuddling and more like a community event.

Cuddle puddles make cats look extra lovable. The same animals knocking things off shelves and sprinting through the house at midnight are suddenly curled up in one giant fluffy friendship knot. Just a full-on purr pile of mutual affection. Hard not to melt a little looking at that much concentrated cat content.

You know what they say: don't judge a cat by their angry expression (or something like that).

There have been many internet-famous cats over the years that will go down in the history books furrever and ever. The most famous is probably "Grumpy Cat", AKA Tardar Sauce, who became an internet sensation overnight for her purrmanently grumpy face. There are hundreds of cat memes about her, maybe even thousands, and she truly changed the cat meme world with her purrfect presence. 

Then, you have Smudge, the cat famous for the "woman yelling at cat" memes, as well as the coughing cat meme. And now, we have Garfi, the senior Persian feline who holds the title for the "World's Angriest Cat". But, Garfi has a secret that you would never guess: he's actually a sweetheart. Sure, he's still a cat and lives by his own rules, but he loves his family and his bark is definitely worse than his bite.

Bones are overrated anyway.

Somewhere along the evolutionary timeline, cats made a decision. Not about hunting, or territory, or survival, but about structure. Specifically, they decided they didn't want any. While the rest of the animal kingdom was busy developing skeletons and respecting gravity, cats were quietly opting out of the whole arrangement.

What you're about to witness is not a glitch. It's not bad photography or unusual angles. It's a lifestyle. A philosophy. A fully conscious rejection of the physical laws that govern literally every other living thing on this planet. A windowsill the width of a pencil? Prime real estate. The joy of being able to give a cat a home, especially after so much time and effort were put into the process, is something that's hard to describe in words.

But one person did just that - took care of a cat for a year and a half outside her family's home, and after a successful adoption process, went to tell the online feline family the good news. This is such a heartwarming read that can surely melt the hearts of every cat person out there. When is any regular cat become a Cat™?

Arguably, any cat is born with the Very Cat personality component in their soul. It's like the part of the mind that thinks 200% like a cat, and drives you to do all the cat things - regardless of logic or rationality. Just: is it cat? Do it. Is it not cat? Don't do it. So we're not saying that it's not sure this cat thing is in every cat since the moment they're born - the pawtential is always there (well, they're the OG cats, no?). But some cats don't click or vibe with the Very Cat mindset. Some cats act like dogs. Some cats are sure they're human.

Surprisingly, though, some humans act in a Very Cat way. Think about it - there are people who only want to be left alone to nap for 16 hours a day, and then crave the zoomies effect at random hours of the night. Some people want affection, but for exactly three seconds, and then they will allow you to love them from the other side of the room, in silence. We all know a person like that. A person hardware with a cat software installed.

But what makes a cat be Very Cat? Well, that depends on the critter itself. If they're doing all their cat things, regardless of what anyone thinks or tells them - then that's a very catty cat right there. No mistakes there. They can be smol cats, large cats, floofy or short-furred - they are definitely the cattest of cats. And we love them exactly as they are.

With all the actual chaos in the world right now, what we actually need is a dose of cute chaos. Something on theme, yes, but wholesome. 

Just when you thought, for one single moment, that things might be calming down a little around the world… boom. They are not. Things are just as crazy as before. Everything is… as normal at this point. We think that, slowly but surely, we are getting used to this new normal of madness. It doesn't even feel new anymore. And so, since it doesn't look like the world is going to change anytime soon, we basically need to embrace the madness. In whatever ways we can. Chaos is normal. So we might as well look for cute chaotic cat moments to fill our days with instead. 

Cute cat pictures, wholesome cat stories, silly cat memes - those are things that have been helping us get through the past few years with our sanity mostly intact. Mostly. But they have been helping. And since they have been helping but not fixing things entirely, our only conclusion is that we most likely are not looking at enough of them. They purr, they cuddle around them, it's easy to see when a cat loves something. But the things that cats hate… that's easy to see too, and it is absolutely hilarious. A cat's miffed face is one of the best faces. And Fergus's miffed face is one of the best that we have seen in a long, long time. 

Cats are fighters. They just need a little hope, and they can make it through anything. 

It's amazing, the kind of recoveries that cats can make. You can find them in the worst circumstances, frozen, broken, sick, with vets giving them one day to live, but as long as they have hope, there is a chance of them not just making it, but making a full recovery. As long as you don't give up on them, they will make every effort to not give up on you. 

This kitty was nicknamed "tiny survivor" by her pawrents, because that is what she is. The family's golden Labrador found the kitten outside. Her mother and her siblings had crossed the rainbow bridge. She was alone, fighting for herself despite never learning how. And she was sick. We don't know how long she would have been able to go on had this Lab not found her. We don't know how much hope she had left. What we do know is that it wouldn't have lasted forever, that she needed more hope, something to hold onto. And that Lab became that thing for her. After recovering from her treatment, he is the place she went to. Her best friend, her savior, her hope.
