The Cat Distribution System doesn't always send a tracking number.

For a few days, there had been the occasional mysterious meow drifting in from outside the apartment. This rescuer assumed it belonged to a neighbor's cat, except after asking around, it turned out no one in the building had one. The soundtrack of surprise meows continued anyway.

Then came the moment. While doing the dishes, another meow rang out, followed by a small sound against the door. Not imagination this time. Just enough to pause, dry hands, and open it. And there he was.

A very distinguished gentleman of a cat, standing there like he had arrived exactly where he meant to be. No tag. No obvious owner. Surprisingly clean and healthy for someone appearing unannounced. He didn't look lost. If anything, he looked confident, like he had selected this apartment specifically.

Naturally, the only question left hanging in the air is whether the adoption paperwork is already in progress. Sometimes the Cat Distribution System doesn't send advance notice. Sometimes it simply delivers a well-groomed gentleman to the doorstep and lets things unfold from there. Whether he's a wandering visitor or a future permanent resident remains to be seen, but he certainly made an entrance.

The Sunday scaries don't just hit hoomans.

Cats absolutely get the Sunday scaries. You can see it once the weekend starts winding down and someone says the word Monday in a tired voice. They don't know what Monday means, but they know the energy just shifted.

Sunday night turns them extra clingy. Suddenly they need to be exactly where you are. If you sit down, they're on your lap before you even get comfortable. If you stand up, they follow you like you might disappear. If a bag comes out or a laptop opens, they insert themselves immediately. This is not a coincidence. This is damage control.

And this sweet stray cat really took her time. A year and a half of socialization attempts finally bore fruit, and she agreed to come into the house. Little by little, she made her transformation from a street cat to a fully-fledged house feline, ruling her house with an iron paw and a big heart. We can't help but wish her and her humans all the best, they deserve no less.

Some people are sugar-crazed. They have to eat something sweet at the end of every meal, or they always have a sweet breakfast, and their go-to snack is usually something that involves chocolate. There's nothing wrong with that, as long as it's done in meowderation. But we prefer to take our sweetness in another form. A feline form, if you get what we're saying. Our cravings aren't for sugary snacks, but for purrfectly sweet cats and kittens that give us a boost of pawsitive energy.

We have nothing against sweets, it's just not really our thing. But if you ask anyone about us, they will tell you how obsessed we are with cats, so it makes sense that our Sunday craving will be for a bottomless bag of cute cat and kitty pictures. Instead of getting a sugar rush, we'll get a rush of wholesome sweetness for the soul that will last longer than any bite of chocolate or piece of cake. For cat lovers like us (that means you), it's the purrfect bite of happiness to end your weekend with and calm you down before the week begins.

Orange cats are known for being the himbos of the cat breeds, but they're also known as being some of the most loving. 'Mr. Man', our step-dad-who-stepped-up, proved this by raising two orphaned kittens his owners found.

Before you adopt an orange cat, you should know two things: they have one collective brain cell that they share with every other orange cat on the planet, and they are very loving. They may not be the brightest crayon in the box, but what they lack in intelligence, they make up for in love. They will incessantly head-bonk you. They will sleep on your chest, in between your legs, on your head while you sleep, and anywhere else that is close to you. 

Our orange of the day let his love pour out by wholesomely adopting two teeny-weeny kittens his pawrents found outside. They had an adult female cat as well, but it was the orange boy (or, should we say, man) who stepped up and took them under his figurative wing. He instantly made them feel like part of the family. He took care of grooming them, cuddling with them, and even disciplining them when they did something wrong (see picture #23 below). 

Cats don't need to be related to consider each other family, and that just makes it all the more heartwarming. If they can find purrpose in helping others in need, we think that we, as hoomans, should be able to as well. We never thought the day would come when we would say this, but we could all learn a thing or two from orange cats!

Oftentimes, we talk about how, despite the fact that so many people say that cats are aloof, unfeeling and uncaring, cats actually build some of the strongest bonds of any animal that we have come across. You don't need to go far to find the evidence. Just look at us. 

Cats love their humans, that is a fact. You can see that so easily. A cat that has truly bonded with a human will follow them around everywhere, sleep next to them, and come to them when they are stressed. And it's not just humans either. Cats bond with other animals as well. Cats and dogs can be best friends, despite all of their inherent differences. Cats and birds can be friends, despite one technically being a predator and the other prey. 

And of course, cats can bond with other cats stronger than nearly with anything else. We actually have a name for pairs of cats like these - we call them bonded pairs. Sometimes, a bonded pair will be siblings from the same litter who have grown up together. Other times, it will be cats rescued together and brought to the same shelter. And sometimes, their second half will appear in their lives out of nowhere. But they will recognize the bond. And the will fight to get to one another.

Winter is nearly over, but it looks like the cold is not going anywhere anytime soon. They may look like sweet little shadows, but black cats always have a little mischief planned.

Black cats really have mastered the art of being a little bit spicy and a little bit sweet at the exact same time. One minute they're giving you that slow blink from across the room like everything is calm and peaceful, and the next they're swatting your hand because you dared to stop petting them for half a second. There's just something about a tiny void with attitude that keeps you on your toes.

They'll follow you around like a shadow all day, curl up next to you like they've never done anything wrong in their life, and then immediately knock your drink off the table the second you look away. It's never personal though. That's just part of the charm. You get a headbutt, a cuddle, maybe a biscuit-making session, and then some light chaos for balance.

Black cats have this way of acting like the sweetest little companions while also clearly running the entire household behind the scenes. They want attention on their terms, treats on demand, and they're not above a dramatic tail flick if they feel like their needs aren't being met quickly enough. Still, the second they curl up next to you or start purring, all is forgiven.

A late night drive turned into a rescue.

Driving home around 11 PM, this rescuer noticed what looked like a piece of trash near the white line on the road suddenly move. After pulling over, it turned out to be a tiny kitten sitting there in the cold. She was freezing, covered in road grime, and so small it felt like there was barely anything there besides bones and purrs.

The first 48 hours were spent worrying she might not make it. She was so thin and tired that the rescuer couldn't help but panic about whether she'd pull through. After a few Dawn dish soap baths to get the dirt off and a very expensive trip to the vet, she slowly started to perk up.

What began as a late night roadside discovery quickly turned into making sure she was warm, clean, and fed around the clock. Each day she seemed a little stronger than the last, settling in more and starting to act like a kitten instead of just trying to rest.

Now she's safe, warm, and finally starting to thrive. It's hard to believe she was just sitting there by the road not that long ago, and thanks to the rescuer stopping when they did, she's getting the chance to grow up in a place where she's cared for.

There's something so wholesome about pies and cats alike. Like you're entering a fairytale cottage, with the sweetest thing waiting for you and freshly made, while your sweet and loving cat brushes up against your leg, waiting for a bite of the apple, cherry, or blueberry pie you can't wait to get your mouth on. Cakes can be towering and intricate, but it's not like the beauty and simplicity of a pie. On this day, give yourself a little treat. But a slice of pie from your local diner or bakery, get that chocolate filled croissant you've been eyeing in the window of the cafe, and let yourself go home comfortable to your cat, pie and all. Don't let the rush of the world flood past you in pieces of pettiness, of pain, or of anything else. Just enjoy the here and now.

Cats can truly be found in the most bizarre places before they're adopted, but the most impawrtant thing is that they're found, taken, cared for, and spend the rest of their lives in their forever homes. And if you don't find that one CDS cat for yourself, you might need the equivalent of a father with a car shop, a dad who will find you a cat. You never know who might be the CDS agent in your life.

You know what they say… feed a cat once, and you've got a new friend. Feed a cat twice, and now they demand you feed their whole family!

Cats have two modes: either pretending not to want your attention but secretly wanting it, or boldly telling you that it's time for you to pay attention to them. One day, they could be looking at you from across the couch, staring at you until you do the right thing (pet them), and the next, they'll stomp right up to you and head-bonk you until you are forced to love them. There is no in between.

As someone who has rescued quite a few cats from the street, we can tell you that the fastest way to a cat's heart is through their stomach. If you feed them, they're much more likely to trust you. And you best believe that if you feed them once, they'll come back again for more food. And more often than not, they'll bring some friends.

That's what happened to our kind stranger below, who is now being played by a friendly cat with the biggest puppy dog eyes we've ever seen to let him, and his siblings inside during this cold winter! You'll see what we mean below, but let's just say that this kitty is pulling out all the stops to convince him to be their purrfect pawrent. And you know what? We would fall for it, hook, line, and sinker.

Dog owners will say something like, "I got my Sir Charles III from a distinguished breeder with a long line of championship puppers", whereas cat people will be like, "I found Mittens in a trash can".

Most of our cats were saved from the streets, or were given to us as kittens from "oopsie" litters. Only once we've gone out and adopted a cat, and don't misunderstand us, there's nothing wrong with adopting cats, we just seem to have a knack for saving the ones that get left outside and forgotten. Or maybe it's the other way around, the Cat Distribution System just dumps these cats in our area because it knows we can't resist taking them in. Either way, it doesn't matter - we love all our little rescues, whether we found them hiding under a car in a parking lot or in an animal rescue shelter.

And we're not the only ones, this is a general thing that's common amongst most cat pawrents. But not dog pawrents, though. Especially in the US, you don't just find stray dogs as often as you find stray cats. Usually, dogs are adopted from a shelter or bought from a breeder, but that doesn't translate over to our feline friends. 

It makes all of our adoption stories purrfectly unique and heartwarming because the glow up is real: from discarded trash to our purrsonal treasure. All these cats below were once forgotten by society. Left behind. But now, thanks to the love of their hoomans, they're beloved meowmbers of our families.
