I'm not scared. If you understood that, then you are most likely also a cat person and speak cat. I don't mean literally, but you love cats so much that you just get it. Iykyk. Sometimes the universe looks upon you and knows what you need in your lowest moment, and that is what it did for one cat loving couple when it sent them quite the curious kitten.

When you're about to move for college, the weird of ephemeral encounters suddenly hits you. And that's exactly what happened to this student about to move for college. The unexpected happened in many ways, and she knows this void cat was meant for her. 

She's moving soon, so getting something long-term or permanent wasn't part of the deal. She's always been a dog owner, and her parent's aren't big cat people. But she saw this black cat roaming around her place, and make her way into the garage. She feels an instant connection, and even claims they've met before when the cat was a kitten. Take the "mohawk" cat we recently learned about, where after turning to the online cat community, his owners discovered his fur is actually a rare genetic trait.

While there are no rare fur shenanigans here, we're still talking about the ultimate surprise a soon-to-be cat parent can discover about their orange kittens - she's a girl. You see, only 20% of orange cats are girls, and that makes them a rare and beautiful unicorn amongst the entire domestic cat species. And that's still a cat fur genetics thing, apparently. But let's get into the science side of things later. For now? Let's look at this surprising cutie.

Open a drawer and somehow it's already occupied.

Drawers don't stay empty for long when there's a cat around. You open one for a second, turn away, and suddenly there's a cat inside. Doesn't matter if it's packed with clothes or barely open, they'll make it work. Shirts, socks, anything in there just gets pushed aside until there's enough space.

They seem to like how tucked in it feels. Dark, soft, a little hidden. They'll squeeze between things, turn a couple times, and settle right on top of everything like it was meant for them. You come back later to grab something and there's just a pair of eyes looking up at you instead.

They don't act caught either. You open the drawer and they just stay there like it's their spot now. No rush to leave, no reaction like they did anything wrong. If anything, they stretch out more or shift to get comfortable again. You move stuff around them and they barely care.

It ends up becoming part of the routine. You open a drawer and half expect to find one in there. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, but it's always a possibility. It's such a random place to end up, but they treat it like one of the best spots in the house.

What was supposed to be a trip became a cat adoption.

A trip to Miami turned into bringing a cat back to the UK. Tangerino followed this traveler home during the vacation and didn't act like a stray passing through. He stuck close, came inside, and settled in like he had already picked his person.

That changed everything fast. This person didn't just leave and think about it later. They canceled their return flight and started planning how to get Tangerino home properly. Before committing, they tracked down the local colony feeder through a TNR group. She confirmed Tangerino wasn't bonded to her and was completely fine with him being adopted, which cleared any doubt.

Tangerino made the whole process unusually easy. Harness training for the flight went smoothly. He stayed calm in the carrier, used the litter box, played with toys, and slept indoors without any pushback. No long adjustment phase, no stress, just straight into it like he'd done it before.

He also reminded the traveler of an orange cat they lost a year earlier. That connection shows up clearly in how quickly things moved. What started as a random vacation encounter turned into rescheduling flights, planning international travel, and coming home with a cat who acted like he'd always been part of it.

Where there's one hungry cat… there's usually a lot more you haven't even noticed yet.

We often think of cats as solitary animals, but in the wild, cats tend to live in colonies. This is why when you see one stray cat, there's usually a lot more that you're not seeing. And, once you feed one of them, they all instantly know that you're a pawtential source of food, and they will swarm you with attention until you continue feeding them. The same goes with kittens. It's rare to find one singular kitten in the wild, so if you do find one, please, go back to the area and look around for more. You might end up saving a whole family!

A stray mama cat approached a new neighbor, then led him to her litter of baby kittens hiding behind their house. Hunting for herself and four other mouths was too much for her, and she needed help. With three big dogs in his house, he knew he couldn't keep them, but he also knew he couldn't just leave them there. Can you name a better feeling than when a cat chooses you as their purrson?

Getting a pet can be overwhelming, especially your first one. If you're anything like us, we wanted to wait until we were purrfectly prepared before adopting our first cat. We went out and bought all the things. Two litter boxes, plenty of food and litter, toys, food bowls, a water fountain, treats, cool cat trees, the whole shebang. We brought home our little baby, and the first thing we learned (very quickly) is that you can never be purrfectly prepared. You're always going to need another bag of treats, a different toy, a new brush, etc.

This fear of not being ready stops a lot of people from adopting a pet, but we're here to tell you to just go for it. If you wait until you're fully stocked, you'll never actually go out and do it, because you'll never be ready. It's just something you do, or in our case below, happens to you! Our woman below wanted a cat for months, but never felt ready. So, she let feline fate run its course, and what happened next? You guessed it - a cat found her and chose her at the "purrfect time". Turns out that right now is the "right time".

Just when you thought Pallas' cats couldn't get any cuter, we purresent to you: the brainless and clementine-colored version.

If you ever played Pokémon, you understand the concept of a "shiny". A shiny Pokémon is an extremely rare Pokémon that has a very low spawn rate and comes in a custom color that sets it apart from the rest of its kind. Some people search for these shinies for days, weeks, even months before ever catching one. Well, if there was one animal in the world that was truly like a Pokémon, it would be a Pallas' cat, and we just found its shiny version.

The orange pallas' cat, also known as Otocolobus manul ferrugineus, is a subspecies of the regular Pallas' cat that is only found in Iran and other central asian regions. Their clementine-colored coats shine a bright orange during sunrise and sunset, and can be described as more of a rusty, sand color during other meowments. 

While these fluffy felines may be orange in color, it doesn't mean that they share their orange-ness with their domesticated brothers (and sisters, but we all know female orange cats are also quite rare). Orange house cats have a tendency to be…. how can we put it nicely? Let's go with "bold and adventurous", but what we really mean is that they have nothing but hot air in between their ears in place of a brain. Orange pallas' cats definitely have more than one collective brain cell to survive in the harsh outdoors.

By Wednesday, you can bet your last Churu that we've already exhausted all of our patience for the week. In fact, it's a meowracle we made it all the way to Wednesday without turning the office into a crime scene. Not really, but the real meowracle is our ability to control our facial expressions, because if people actually knew what we were saying in our heads while at work, we might have trouble keeping a job.

It's not our fault that we're purrfectionists. We have a very high standard for ourselves and our work, and it has become overwhelmingly obvious that not everyone holds themselves to the same standards. Some people are just okay with being wrong all the time! It's a strange choice to make, but we're not here to judge. Wait, who are we kidding? We're basically a cat (on the inside), and all cats do is judge. So, we might be judging a little bit, but only because our way is the only way to do something correctly.

You may not be able to express these thoughts out loud, but the good news is that you don't have to! After all, saving cats is tough, saving kittens is even tougher, and when they have just been brought into the world we live in, it can be even tougher. Which is why most of us would reach out to those who are supposed to know better for advice on how to handle such a situation. The only problem being that the voice on the other end of the phone, while authoritative and knowledgeable, does not have eyes on the situation. So following their guidance blindly is not the way to go, and thankfully these cat rescuers did use their own judgment of the situation before them to save the life of a cute kitten who would not have lasted much longer on his own.

So while it is important to listen to those who know more than you, it is also important to remember that your judgement of a situation is what makes or breaks a situation. And in this case the kitten was saved and given a loving home for all eternity. 
 

The minute there's fresh dirt and new leaves, cats show up. 

Spring shows up, the plants start growing, and suddenly cats are everywhere in the middle of it. A garden isn't just a garden anymore, it's something to walk through, sit in, and mess with. Fresh dirt gets treated like it was put there for them. New leaves get inspected, tapped, and occasionally chewed just to see what happens.

Indoor plants don't get ignored either. The second something new comes into the house, a cat is already there checking it out. Sniffing, circling, deciding if it's worth knocking over later. You water the plants, and somehow that turns into an event. There's always a paw getting a little too close or a tail brushing through something that shouldn't be touched.

Outside, it's even more of a free-for-all. Cats move through gardens like they've always been part of it. Sitting between plants, hiding under leaves, popping out from places you didn't even notice were open. It turns into a mix of calm and chaos, depending on what they decide to do next.

Spring is supposed to be about growth and things coming back, but with cats around, it's also about figuring out what survives them. Some plants make it, some don't, and the cats stay completely unbothered either way.

She showed up on the patio and never left.

This went from we already have four cats to five really fast. A random cat showed up on the patio, and it turned out three different people in the house had been feeding her. No one planned it or even talked about it, but it was already happening. Once multiple people are involved like that, it's hard to treat the cat like a stranger.

The other cats didn't react the way you'd expect either. No hissing, no trying to keep their distance. Instead, they kept going to the window and meowing, like they were trying to get attention and point her out. It didn't feel like they saw her as a threat. If anything, it came across like they wanted her to join them.

Then she was inside, and nothing changed. No tension, no adjustment period, just walked in and settled down. The other cats didn't react at all, like she had always been part of the space. That kind of immediate acceptance doesn't happen often.

And once she curled up in someone's lap, that was the end of it. There's no putting a cat back outside after that. She had a name, Cinnamon Toast Cat, which made it feel even more set. Calling her a "home invader" didn't really hold up anymore. She showed up, got comfortable, and ended up staying.
