Letting "your cat" roam around for 8 months isn't something that's forgivable. It's abandonment.

We've said it before, and we'll say it again 1,000 more times until everyone in the entire world gets it: if you're going to allow your cats to roam freely outside, you have a duty to sterilize them and microchip them. Otherwise, you're just part of the problem that so many of us try so hard to fix. You're allowing your cat to contribute to feline homelessness, and you're putting them in danger. Is that purrfectly clear?

Also, if you have no way of identifying the cat as yours, you can't get upset when it falls in love with someone else, they fall in love back, and they decide to keep them. That's exactly what happened with our adorable tuxedo cat below. A humble purrson found the skinny black and white cat and took them inside. They formed an emeowtional bond and they decided to keep her. Then, 8 months later, a neighbor knocked on their door and demanded "their" cat back. They said what any normal purrson would, which was no. 

If nothing ties you back to that cat, not a vet bill or a microchip, that cat is not yours. You're feeding a street cat that you've claimed ownership to, but as we can see here, that cat is free to make its own choices. And it has. With its heroic hooman rescuer who took them inside and showed them what real love was.

Sometimes, the CDS brings a kitten not directly to you but to your doggo. 

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways. We say that all the time, yet people still seem confused about it. Some people - specifically ones who don't and have never owned cats - still think that we are the ones who choose our cats, rather than having them distributed to us. Those of us who have cats know the truth, of course. Generally, you don't have a choice about how a cat is going to be brought into your life. Like when someone adopted a kitten during a 2 AM picnic, or like when that kitten flew in through someone's window out of absolutely nowhere, or like when that Starbucks barista got handed a kitten via the drive-thru window. 

Or, like it happened in today's story, it wasn't even the human who was distributed the kitten. It was the dog. It was the dog who found the poor, sick kitten in the basement. As far as we know, if he hadn't gone there, the humans never would have found the cat. But fate brought the feline and canine together, and now, they are all living happily ever after in their forever home. 

Ridiculous problems require solutions that are equally as ridiculous. 

The life of a cat owner is more complicated than you would anticipate. Cats are simple creatures, right? They just need to be fed, have their litter boxes cleaned, and be petted every once in a while - if they deem you acceptable, of course. Except that no, it's not that easy at all. And so, we look for solutions. If your cat demands to be fed 15 times a day, we get an automatic feeder. If your cat demands that the litter box be impeccable after each and every time they use it, you might get a self-cleaning litter box. If your cat needs to be bathed because it was too adventurous and climbed up the chimney, you might get a bath bag for your cat - to try to make the experience less dangerous for both of you.

Of couse, all of these things, at the end of the day, are to make your life easier. The cats still hate them. The automatic feeder - they sit next to for hours and sometimes try to eat the feeder. The automatic litterbox might scare them and make them tinkle the other way. The bath bag - self explanatory. And nail trimming bags… same thing, useful for us, hated by the cats, but the reviews of these things on the internet… absolutely hilarious. 

Cats don't let anything stop them from living their best lives. 

We talk about it all the time - the confidence that cats have in themselves, and how much we wish we could have just a smidge of it too. It doesn't matter what our cats' situation is, they always remain true to themselves. They could be trahshcan kitties that you brought home, they could be apartment cats that were born and raised inside, or they could be living in million-dollar mansions with the fanciest of foods and servants, they will still get zoomies in the middle of the night, try to drink from your water glass when you are not looking and meow their little fluffy heads off in the middle of the night. 

But it's not just their living circumstances that cats don't pay attention to. Cats don't let anything stop them from living the lives that they want to live. Cats with three legs - tripods, as we call them - still manage to cause just as much chaos as any other cat. Cats that are deaf will scream just as loudly as any other cat to let you know exactly where they are - whether they realize they are being loud or not. And blind cats… goodness, we don't even think that blind cats know that they are blind, with the way that they run around our houses and pop out to spook us when we're least expecting it. 

That is certainly true for the cat in today's video. It seems that this little kitty was born blind. He was already blind when the couple who rescued him found him. And he was cute enough to very quickly move from his foster home to a forever home. Except that this forever home was not actually his. In that home, they called the kitty too loud and were upset with him for wanting attention. He was not what they thought they would get when they signed up for a blind cat. He was so much more. 

When he was brought back to his foster family, that was it. They could not let him go a second time. It was fate. And they kept him. And in that home - his actual forever home - he is loved for exactly who he is. He is truly living his best life. He's got two kitty best friends, pawrents who love him, and an opportunity to cause as much chaos as he could ever want - safely. 

He came for food and stayed to change someone's life.

This cat showed up on the balcony one evening like he'd always known where to go. Big, handsome, and way too put together to look like a stray. He got a bowl of food just in case he was a lost neighbor's cat. The next day, he was back, waiting after work like this was already part of his routine.

The hooman who opened that door had always said they were a dog person. Cats were fine, sure, but not really their thing. This guy clearly had other plans. A vet visit confirmed he wasn't anyone's pet. He'd been out there on his own, somehow surviving an entire Canadian winter. Long, strong, and built like he knew exactly what he was doing.

He got the name Dunk, partly inspired by shoes and partly because he loves rubbing against feet. Since then, he's been chipped, neutered, and fully upgraded to indoor life. He's claimed a cat tower, figured out toys, and even learned to get along with the dog. Not bad for a former balcony regular.

What started as "I'll just feed him once" turned into a full conversion story. Dunk isn't just a cat who found a home. He picked his person at the right time and stuck around until the message landed. Turns out the system works exactly like that.

You haven't truly lived until you've caught a blep in the wild.

Having an identity crisis can feel like standing in front of a mirror that no longer reflects you clearly. The features are familiar, but the meaning behind them feels blurred. You're used to fitting a script, used to having a role, whether it be the cook, the boyfriend, the girlfriend, the mother, the creative, the artist, the friend, or the student, and now that mold is gone. You're left with yourself, and now have to wonder what was beneath the guise. Questions in your head begin to echo themselves: Who am I without this relationship? Without this success? Without the expectations placed on me?

An identity crisis often emerges during transitions. A breakup, a move, a loss, a failure, or even unexpected success can shake the foundations of how you understand yourself. When the external structure changes, the internal narrative wobbles. The story you've been telling about who you are no longer fits neatly, and that gap can feel frightening. In 10 years time, this guy has gone through lots of other pets, but this fluffy kitty has stayed put. Being pawrents to an outdoor catto is no easy thing. Sure you might argue that it is better that they conduct their business and shenanigans outside such that your home stays cleaner and without clawminal activity. But the truth is that all that time they spend away from home is terrifying. As any outdoor feline pawrent will tell you, there is no knowing what they are up to and in what state they will come home.

After all, cats do love a good scrap from time to time. But there are curveballs too, such as this snowstorm, that can cause a catto to completely lose their otherwise wonderfully strong sense of direction and belonging. Isn't it crazy how we thought our parents had it all figured out? Now that we're in our 30s, we can safely say that we do not have it all figured out. Well, on those days, when your mom isn't here and you're out of sick days, it's our love for our cats that gets us out of bed. If we don't go to work, we won't be able to give them the life they deserve, and so, we put on our adult pants and go do our adult things.

'Capitán', the Maine coon, was the king of his territory for five years, and he showed us what a true king does: he nurtures and protects, against all odds and with no excuses.

Strength is not always about how physically strong you are. Don't let those macho weirdos on social media try to convince you otherwise. It can be about the strength of your will or your ability to protect those who need help. If strength were just about how big your muscles are, them the leaders of the world would all look like Arnold Schwarzenegger (and we all know that's not true). Our stray Maine coon, 'Capitán', is showing us a different kind of strength, the purrfect kind that offers kindness instead of brute force.

He was the guardian of his neighborhood park, a tomcat no one dared mess. Neighbors noticed a new addition to their small stray cat community, a small white kitten. The kitten kept bumping into things, and didn't get surprised by sudden movements. That was when they all understood: the kitten was blind. Immediately, Capitán stepped in to become his guide. Even when the residents intervened and tried to rescue the blind baby, both of them would cry nonstop until they were safely back together. Because of Capitán, the kitten was able to survive in a world that would not have treated him kindly.

Yes, this cat is real and alive, and we are head over heels for it.
