Teen refuses to give sister rides to school even though they live together and go to the same place, internet roasts her for the sibling drama: ‘My commute is my only alone time’
'That's fine, buddy, we've got you now': Shelter is contacted about an injured, abandoned, microchipped kitten, contacts his owners, but the owners say that they don't want him anymore
We don't know what we would do without the people working in shelters. Nearly every day, if you look, you could find stories of people abandoning their cats. Because some people don't get it - they don't understand how amazing cats are. And every day, every time we come across a story like that, we think to ourselves that instead of abandoning the cat outside, to fend for itself, after knowing nothing in its life besides indoor living, all they needed to do was give the cat to a shelter. It may not be perfect, but it would still be better.
And some shelters are godsent. In some shelters, the people working there go to any length to make sure that the cats that end up in their care are given the best care possible. They save these cats' lives. Without this shelter, Dweeb never would have made it. He was incredibly sick, barely seven months old, abandoned on his own, and when his owners were contacted through the chip info, they said that they don't want him. This shelter saved this kitty's life, and many others, and we are forever thaknful.
‘You're not going to win this fight’: General manager demands employee give up their desk at “hot desking” office, employee books the space again out of spite
When an office decides to switch to a "hot desking" system, in which no one has their own desk at the office, and everyone has to book a workspace in advance, office disputes always tend to follow. We never heard of a single employee who likes this system, and these disputes are probably a big reason why.
Cat mom refuses to declaw her cat after family insists that she must in order to “keep their dogs safe”: ‘It genuinely makes me sick even thinking about [it]’
When we were kids, we had two cats. Our parents declawed them. We were too young to understand what the cats went through after that, but once we learned what it did to them, we vowed never to accept declawing ever again.
But you have to give our parents a little grace, it was a different time in the 1990s. In that time, it was seen as a common veterinary purrcedure. It was even recommended as a solution for cats scratching furniture and to prevent scratching injuries. There wasn't nearly as much criticism on declawing back then as there is now.
Now, declawing has been outlawed in over 40 countries and is being banned in more states as years go on. And yet, some people still remain in that 90s mindset that it's just a routine practice that doesn't affect cats at all. These people are wrong, because now we know that it's much more harmful than simply removing their claws. The equivalent in hoomans of the declawing operation would be like taking off your whole finger until the knuckle. Doesn't sound so harmless now, does it?
So when this cat mom's family demanded she get her cat declawed to "keep their dogs" safe, we're glad to hear that she isn't even entertaining the thought. Some people just don't want to learn, and as hard as you might try, you can't teach someone who doesn't want to learn. Leave those people behind, even if it might be your own family.
23 Flavorful Memes of Foodie Felines Demanding Deluxe Dinners
Some cats are perfectly happy with whatever lands in their bowl. Then there are the cats who approach dinner like they're reviewing a restaurant menu. The bowl goes down, the cat walks over, gives it a careful sniff, and pauses like it's thinking about the experience so far.
Bougie cats have standards. Chicken again? Didn't we just do chicken yesterday? Maybe today should be salmon. Or tuna. Something that sounds a little more exciting than the usual dinner scoop. They'll sit there staring at the bowl like they're waiting for the chef to come back out with a better option.
Of course, the moment hooman food appears, things get very interesting. The cat suddenly shows up next to the table like it was invited to the meal. Whatever is on the plate becomes the most important thing in the room. Sandwich, pasta, chicken… it doesn't matter. If a human is eating it, the cat immediately believes it must be the fancy food.
These cats are convinced the real menu exists somewhere else in the kitchen. The bowl might be acceptable, but clearly there are better choices hiding behind those cabinets. So they wait. They watch every move their human makes near the fridge or pantry.
And every once in a while, the patience pays off. A treat appears. A small bite of something better lands in the bowl. Bougie cats don't celebrate the victory. They simply eat it like this was the correct meal all along.
'Toby has decided he found a home with us': Sweet stray cat arrives on a family’s porch, refuses to leave, and slowly turns a four-cat home into a five-cat household
About a month ago, a cat showed up on the front porch meowing like he had something important to say. At first he kept a little distance, but eventually he worked up the courage to approach the kids. Once he realized this house had friendly hoomans and food, he didn't seem very interested in leaving.
Things escalated slowly from there. When a storm was coming, he was allowed to stay in the garage for the night. The garage then felt too cold, so he was moved into the bathroom for a temporary stay. The official rule in the house was still that the cat was not staying. That was the plan, at least.
They did everything they could to find an owner. Local Facebook groups, Nextdoor, shelter sites, and even driving around the neighborhood looking for flyers. The cat was clearly used to people, but he wasn't chipped and nobody came forward looking for him.
While all this was happening, the cat continued settling in. He turned out to be incredibly affectionate and sweet. The kids quickly grew attached and the daughter gave him a name. Toby now has a vet appointment coming up and a comfortable place to sleep.
The official story is that he can stay until a home is found. Toby seems very confident that part of the search is already finished. The cat distribution system appears to have decided this household needed a fifth cat after all.
'Despite his hard life, he has remained gentle & sweet!': Affectionate stray wanders the streets in hope for a furrever home, kind human unexpectedly takes him in as his own
When you come across a special soul, it's impossible not to boast about it. It's not everyday that someone meets a purrfect cat on the street. This human has his own theories about why this adorable and affectionate cat was dumped, but he gives his story of finding little Sweater. Sweater is one of the most special cats to date. He never gets tired of being snuggled and pet, he wags his tail like a dog, and he's incredibly gentle. He likes to press his forehead against his new owners (who hasn't had him very long), and he loves to touch noses. He loves watching TV, usually from his luxury throne (aka the basket with his blanky in it on the cat tree). The owner claims that his favorite shows are veterinary shows and Golden Girls!
This new owner was even going to TNR the precious thing before he fell in love with him. He decided he can't live without this guy, and now the two are inseparable. Enjoy the rest of the wholesome story!
'Promoted at 12, laid off by 2 PM': Company leader publicly congratulates worker who has already been fired
Though many bosses have big egos, they're still under pressure to make a good impression with their workforce. They often feel the need to make big statements to the company, both when times are tough, and when big accomplishments are made.
That's what happened here, when the big boss congratulated an employee… but it went very wrong from there. And it happened in front of numerous other employees, who will never forget what he said.
11-year-old desperately wants an orange cat after his crossed the rainbow bridge, his parent's finally give him an orange boy from a shelter and the family was never happier
Who wouldn't want an orange cat? They're just like gingers in real life, they're spunky and fiery and interesting. So this 11-year-old boy used to have an orange cat, but the cat crossed the rainbow bridge 7 years ago. He's been begging his parent's to get him another one for so long, but they had other responsibilities, other cats, and the timing just didn't feel right. Now, they decided it's time. And when it's time it's time! Timing is everything. So they go to their local shelter with the 11-year-old and his 6-year-old younger brother. They spot an orange cat there, and the shelter workers say that this one is skittish with people, but they let the boys sit in the room with the cat in case things work out. And lo and behold, the cat warms up to them immediately! It takes no time at all and the cat is rubbing his face on their hands and purring in their laps. Needless to say, they came home that day happier than ever, and with their family just a tiny bit bigger than before.
24 Hissterical Posts of Food Stealing Cats Called Out by their Pawrents
It is no easy task being pawrent to a lawless cat child. You have so many different things to manage in your cat's life that it is only natural that they are able to get away with some parts of their clawminality. And seeing as we generally put more pressure on them to not rip up our furniture or climb on the walls, it is often the case that food is the subject of their clawminal tendencies.
And that is where this collection of funny felines caught attempting to and succeeding to steal their pawrent's food comes from. So sit back, make sure your cat child is far away from you so that they do not get any bright ideas, and enjoy the cat-based calamity and chaos that goes on in the homes of other pawrents.
15+ Employees who got fired for great reasons: 'A coworker drove 80+ MPH making a delivery'
While no one follows the rules 100% of the time, some workers really push the limits by following almost none of the rules at all.
Most of us have encountered a handful of coworkers like this during our working lives. It defies logic! While you are beholden to your manager's strict oversight and monthly KPIs, the dude next to you takes naps in his seat, never knows what's going on, and watches Netflix for most of the day. You wonder how long he can possibly get away with it
23 Soft and Serene Cat Memes to Melt Away the Stress of Your Week
It's easy to feel relaxed when a cat is around. Sure, cats might have their unexplained midnight zoomies, their random screams at blank walls, or their chase of imaginary prey. But all that pales in comparison next to the absolute zen state cats can get humans into. All cat pawrents have experienced more than once the weighted blanket situation - when the cat decides you're their bed, and there's nothing you can do about it. Just… embrace the current situation and relax into it. The purrs help, fur sure.
And this relaxation might even come just by being next to cats, in their vicinity. A cat who sleeps in the corner, who slowly blinks at you, telling you how they trust you with a mere look. So if you don't have a cat to be next to - try cat memes instead. Being next to cats in the digital realm, for coziness and relaxation.
VP advocates for underpaid employee's 18% raise, CEO refuses and spends 3x as much money to replace him
This CEO thought it was a better idea to refuse a top employee's request for a long overdue 18% raise. When the employee understandably quit on the spot upon hearing that his request had been denied, the CEO wound up spending three times that amount of money finding a decent replacement. Unfortunately, the VP of the company, who shared this anecdote, was caught in the middle of all this nonsense.
Pennsylvania caterer demands extra $1,500 the morning of a 350‑guest event, forcing the planner to accept less food despite already paying $4,500 in full
You can spot them easily: they speak in half‑truths, collect payments like trophies, and suddenly develop selective memory right after your money clears.
After finding a limping kitten in her parking garage, a woman turns to the online feline family for support when her vet and husband turn against the rescue: ‘Don't listen to your vet, who clearly doesn't care for cats.’
Every cat lover has this corner in their mind that's reserved for a specific alarm that blares up when a cat in need is right in front of us. It's this intrusive thought that goes something like "I can't leave this cat. They need my help, and I have the capacity to care for them. I can make this cat's life better." It's usually the result of the Cat Distribution System activating it, as if every cat lover is a sleeper agent for cat rescues.
This is exactly what this one woman describes - because against all odds and (ill) advice, she keeps the tiny kitten she found in her building's parking garage. The kitten was in such an unideal state, but this alarm in her head didn't allow her to let go. This woman took this kitten's care into her loving hands, and practically acted as if she had already adopted him.
But the problems didn't end here. With a very confused veterinarian's advice, and a reluctant husband, she's facing a front of feline resistance. But she's strong-willed, and her cat love knows no bounds. All we have left to do is wish her and her new kitten the best life pspspssible.
Cat lover runs on the freeway to rescue a kitten in the fast lane, risking it all for Chauncey the 1-month-old tabby cat: 'Omg OMG is that a kitten?!'
Because of this brave cat lover's heroic feat, Chauncey the adorable feisty tabby cat kitten gets a second chance at life: One that doesn't remotely resemble a life-or-d3ath play through of Frogger.
Worker surprised by manager's reaction when they give their 2 weeks' notice, manager demands that they stay longer and give 1 month total: '[My] manager is upset that I didn't give "advanced notice"'
'I gave him some chicken hoping he would leave soon': Orange kitten hops into a person's car and refuses to leave, the person feeds the hungry cat, thinking it's just hungry, but it backfires, and now, they're adopted
We warn people about this all the time. Cats remember things. Cats can tell who is kind and who is not. At the end of the day, it is a known fact that cats domesticated themselves, and there is a reason for it. It's much easier to be spoiled and loved in a warm home with servants than it is to fight for every morsel of food out in the wild. And every day, even today, cats choose to give up the outdoor life, that it is too much for them. Cats choose to adopt humans for themselves.
You never know when or where it will happen, but the second that it does - the second that a cat chooses you - there is no going back from it. It will be the most regular day in the world, and out of nowhere, your life will completely change and will be, from then on, full of shenanigans, meowing and midnight zoomies. And it will be the best thing that has ever happened to you. You might not believe it in the moment, when your life is turning upside down, but you'll see it eventually.
Employee gets even with coworker who "forgot" his wallet every day at lunch time, costing them $180+: 'I started tracking everything'
When you're out with a group and one person "forgets" their wallet, someone has to step in and help them. It's awkward if you're out with a big group of people and only one person can't dig into that big meal with everyone else. You can't just let a coworker sit there with no food and a growling stomach! Someone will offer to pay, and they'll just have to hope they get paid back ASAP… right?
'He told me I chose our cat over moving in together': Manipulative husband gets his wife a cat, then forces her to choose between keeping the cat and moving in with him, leading her to want to divorce
We truly think that cats are like truth detectors. They may not always be able to tell you who is a good partner for you and who is not, but they will give you the signs. The way that your partner treats your cats means so much. If your partner is jealous of your cat and doesn't know how to deal with you showing your cat affection, that's a problem. If your partner thinks that you kissing your cat is disgusting and refuses to kiss you if you do, that's another problem. And if your partner, one day, gives you an ultimatum: it's either them or the cat, then we think that the choice should be a clear one.
Of course, it's never easy to make that choice. It's never easy to put your relationship off to the side because of the signs that your partner gives you. It's why we think that you should have the cat conversation early. The sooner you get to an agreement when it comes to your pets, the smaller the chance that you will end up in the situation that this woman and her husband ended up in.
