'We've both breached the contract': Landlord illegally enters tenants' apartment when they're not there, the tenants are keeping cats without his knowledge, and they're all stuck in a stalemate because neither can complain

Wed, 03/11/2026 - 07:00
There is always some drama going on when it comes to landlords and cats.

Listen, we know that finding an apartment that allows cats can be difficult in some places, but it must be done. Attempting to hide your cat from your landlord is a risk that is generally not worth taking. You never know if the landlord you have will be a decent one or not. If they will be humane about the way that they deal with the situation or ask you for insane things. Maybe they will be an understanding landlord, but seriously, we have seen landlords demand tenants leave after finding out about their cats or asking tenants to declaw their cats to protect their property.

In our opinion, it is always better to disclose than to take the chance. Your kitties are too important to take that risk. You don't want to end up in a position of having to find an apartment that allows pets in an emergency, not when you have the time and opportunity to move to a place that allows pets in the first place. Of course, sometimes, things happen anyway. And we hope that your situation with your landlord would end in a way that this one ended - strangely funny.

21 Purrecious Pictures of Cats Who Heard the Treat Bag and Came Running

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 16:00
Nothing wakes a cat up faster than the crinkle of a treat bag.

Cats can sleep through vacuum cleaners, doorbells, and full conversations happening right next to them. But the second a bag of cat treats crinkles open in another room, they hear it like an emergency broadcast meant only for them.

One moment the cat is nowhere to be seen. The next moment it appears in the doorway, staring directly at the treat bag like it teleported there. No running sounds, no warning, just a cat suddenly present and ready to purrticipate. They often try to play it cool too, casually walking closer like they just happened to wander by at the exact right moment.

Once the bag has been spotted, the negotiation begins. The cat sits down and locks eyes with the treats like this is a very serious business meeting. Sometimes a paw reaches toward the bag. Other times they simply stare with full focus, making it very clear they plan to stay there until the situation improves. Opening the bag once is rarely enough. The cat knows there are more treats inside, and the cat believes those treats belong to them.

For creatures that spend most of the day sleeping, cats have somehow developed the most advanced treat detection system in the house. One tiny crinkle of a treat bag and they arrive instantly, right on time for snack duty.

'I knew he had chosen me': While caring for a colony of outdoor cats, a couple jokes about naming the next newcomer Mark, and soon a tuxedo kitty shows up to claim both the name and a new home

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 15:00
A year ago, a small black-and-white cat showed up and accidentally became part of the family, thanks to a joke that got a little too real.

It all started after a movie night watching The Room. Like many people who experience the film for the first time, the house quickly filled with dramatic impressions of the line "Oh hi, Mark." At one point, while feeding the small colony of outdoor cats they care for, the girlfriend joked that the next cat to show up should be named Mark just so the line could finally be used properly.

A day or two later, a new cat appeared. A little black-and-white guy who looked a bit like a tiny Batman. The moment he showed up, the name was obvious. Mark had arrived.

After checking around for an owner and finding none, it became clear that he wasn't going anywhere. The cat distribution system had spoken again. Once he was brought in and checked out, Mark quickly proved he was more than just a funny name.

Now about two years old, Mark has grown into a clever, playful cat who keeps the whole house busy. He loves to play, especially with his brothers Larry and PatPat, while Bernie, the older cat, prefers to sit those games out. Mark has also earned the role of the household greeter. He's often nearby, watching everything and showing up right when someone walks through the door.

30 Purrfectly Whiskered Kitties to Whisk You Away to Wonderland

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 14:00
Wonderland, but with cats!

We all need an escape in our lives. Escapism exists for a reason. No one can be fully present and alert about life's tumults, trials, and tribulations every moment of our days. We need a break from the heaviness, something that can take our minds off of the bad bits and make us feel good. Sometimes an escape from ordinary world is used with a little imagination, and why not imagine purrfectly whiskered kitties? They're here to whisk you away to a cozy little world that's all your own, where you can do what you want, where everything is sacred, and where there's a magic to everything. Cats already have that slightly mysterious air about them, as if they know secrets the rest of us don't. One moment they're starting intently at a blank wall, the next they're darting across the room as if chasing invisible spirits. It's easy to imagine that cats are living half in our world and half in a world of whimsy.

In this feline wonderland, whiskers, fur, purrs, and paws are the dominant forces behind what happens. They use their whole being to produce a magic unlike any other. They can suddenly turn a simple house into a fantastical kingdom ruled by fluffy monarchs with very strong opinions about snacks. Every single kitty below belongs to this wonderland of whiskers and whimsy. They bring a personality that's just purrfect for whisking us away, to make us feel as though we're also not in our reality. You don't have to carry life's burdens all the time, it's okay to have times where all you want is comfort, and that's where these cats come in. Enjoy these wonderfully wonderland kitty memes.

'She reminds me of my soul cat I had in high school': Uni student spots poor cat as he's leaving for class, she plops and he takes her in immediately

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 13:00
It only takes a plop to make someone fall in love with you.

It can feel like fate when you find another soul that resembles someone you've known. In the story here, it feels like that kind of serendipitous fate. It's a university student who's just leaving his apartment ground on campus, when he spots a cat who looks like she's not in great shape. She's dirty with fleas on her, but has a beautiful white and brown coat. He approaches her and she's already friendly – she flops immediately, just asking for belly rubs. Then he takes her in. He already has two cats, but he's open to more. He gives her several baths in a matter of a few days, and there's a lot of dirt that comes off of her. He takes her to the vet for their full check up, and he knows she's his forever. He says she reminds him of the cat he had in high school, who he claims is his soulmate cat. It's incredible that they found each other. Read the full story below for all the wholesome and adorable details.

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 12:00
It might not be the holidays, and it might not be the 1990s anymore, but that does not mean that a JC Penny photoshoot with your cat is not on the cards, at least for these pawrents.

Who would have thought that in today's modern landscape there would still be a need, or any kind of demand for the photoshoots that JC Penny had become famous for over the years. Perhaps it is a reaction to the online trends of cringey photos of couples in celebration of their engagements or soon to be born babies.

But whatever it is that has drawn millennials back to JC Penny, the fact that they have brought cats with them is simply sublime and we are delighted to have this collection of cute cats posing for cringey photos with their pawrents in what must have been some of the strangest encounters to go down at JC Penny. So settle in and get ready for a collection of cuddly cats who look like they would rather be in a china shop with a bunch of dogs than in another JC Penny pic.

This is why every time we encounter cats not only going to the great outdoors - but doing so in the snowy Scottish highlands - we run back here to share the magnificent sight with you all. So let's get to the beautiful matter at hand - meet Bongo and Fifis, who are absolutely stunning standing there with the snowy background all around. Such brave cats, such ameowzing adventurers.

'You have a cat on your car!': Realtor drives out of neighborhood when she realizes her clients' cat is stuck on the roof of her car

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 09:00
It's not every day you become a purrsonal Uber driver for your clients' cat.

Cats are meowsterious creatures. They can find their way into the tiniest of spaces, can disappear for hours in your own house, and love to show up in the most random places. After a few scary experiences, this has taught us to always check to make sure we know where the cat is before leaving the house. It's now a second nature; we check for our wallet, keys, ID, and cat. We're pretty sure the family in our video below is going to do the same now! However, it wasn't even the family who noticed their cat was gone, it was their realtor, who was surprised to find a secret stowaway on her roof!

While driving out of the neighborhood, she heard someone screaming at her. She rolled down her windows and heard, "You have a cat on your car!", and she absolutely did. While looking for the purrfect spot to sunbathe, her clients' cat climbed onto the roof of her car, and stayed there, confused, as she drove away. Thank goodness someone noticed, or else that kitty might have gone for the ride of its life.

The realtor drove the kitty back to his pawrents' house, VIP style. He got hand-delivered to his owners, who laughed the whole thing off. Thankfully, no cats were lost or hurt, but this one did get the fanciest Uber ride any cat has ever gotten. Watch the whole hissterical video below!

Funniest and cutest notes veterinarians have written about their kitty cat patients: 'The vets wrote NOT HANDLEABLE on my gal's chart'

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 08:00
Going to the vet's with your cat is always an adventure.

If you have ever owned a cat, then you know that one of the worst parts of it is having to take your cats to the vet. Simply because cats hate the vet, and we hate doing things that they hate. Of course, there are the occasional exceptions - cats who purr at the vet's and all that, but generally speaking, cats don't like the experience. Cats hide at the vet's. Cats go crazy at the vet's. Cats want the whole thing to be over as soon as possible.

The vets love the cats, of course. Even the spiciest cats will have the vets cooing at them. Because that is what vets are. They love animals, and they are awesome people, but… they also have to be honest. In their notes to about the cats themselves, in the warnings that they leave for the other vets who will have to deal with your cats in the future, they have to say the truth. For the better or worse. Some cats, the vets will say are amazing. Because they are. And other cats… other cats will be shamed in your vet's notes to the point that you, as the owner, will feel just a little bit ashamed as well. While you are also laughing.

3 sisters decide to keep their late father's house so his elderly 21-year-old cat can live out his retirement days in a familiar place, and the reaction online is so wholesome: 'His Royal Furriness is napping in the sun'

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 07:00
Doing something selfless for a cat is one of the purest ways to show kindness.

We always say that cats are like family to us and that we would do absolutely anything to make them happy. It is usually things like giving our cats the wet food that they love the most. And it is buying our cats cool cat trees, even though they generally prefer the boxes they come in. And it's getting our cats cool toys, even though they care about them maybe ten percent of the time. It's about spoiling our cats in every way that we can - any way that would keep them happy.

But even with all of that, we don't think that many people would do for their cat what these three daughters did for their father's cat. After his passing, they got their father's house - and the cat that lived in it. The simplest solution at that point would have been to rehome the cat and decide what to do with the house afterwards. But that is not what they did. They decided to truly treat this cat like family. They decided to keep this house on - keep paying or it, keep maintenance of it - all so that their father's elderly cat could live his retirement in the space that he is used to. And that is what we call kindness.

'He chose to live with sheep': Lonely stray cat who's never known what care or warmth felt like bonds with farm sheep, now acts like he's part of the sheep flock, leading the little lambs

Tue, 03/10/2026 - 06:00
Cats don't just choose humans. Sometimes, they choose to adopt friends from other species as well.

We say it all the time. Cats are the ones who choose their families, not the other way around. You think that when you walk into a shelter, looking for a cat to adopt, the outcome is in your hands, but it is not. Whether you walk out of there with a cat or not is entirely in the cats' paws. They might choose you, and they might not. You need to prove yourself worthy first.

Of course, we don't know the exact way in which we can prove that we are wrothy to them. That is why the cat distribution system still, to this day, catches people off guard. It works in meowsterious ways. But it does always work. And although, more than anything else, cats choose humans to adopt, sometimes, they also choose other animals.

And it can be any animal. A cat can choose a dog as its best friend, despite their differences, despite the fact that they are known as sworn enemies, despite how different their behaviors are from one another. A cat can choose a bird as its best friend forever, despite the fact that one is prey and one is the opposite, despite the fact that you would never imagine a cat befriending a bird. We have even seen cats choose turtles as best friends, and isn't that a ridiculous combination that you have probably never thought of.

For animals that have such a reputation for being aloof and preferring to be on their own, cats are actually extremely friendly creatures. They are simply friendly only with the creatures that they choose to be friendly with. And honestly, we think that is fair. You would think that we would be incredibly surprised to see the cat in today's video befriend a bunch of sheep in a flock, but no.

The thing that actually surprised us about this video is not the interspecies friendship. That is something that we have seen quite a few times, both with cats and with other animals. No, what actually surprised us was the cat turning into a little shepherd and leading the flock himself.

22 Hissterical Memes of Serious Security Cats Standing Guard Over the Treat Supply

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 15:00
Cats may be small, but they take home security very seriously.

Some cats seem convinced they are the official security team of the house. They pick a good spot by the window and keep track of everything happening outside. People walking by, birds landing on a fence, a car door shutting down the street. It all gets logged in the tiny cat brain. From that window post they watch the whole neighborhood like a very serious guard who takes their job extremely seriously.

Inside the house, the patrol continues. Cats wander from room to room like they're checking that everything is still in its proper place. A grocery bag gets a full inspection. A cardboard box becomes an instant watchtower. Even something as simple as someone opening a cabinet can trigger a full investigation. Guests are handled with the same level of attention. A cat will sit nearby, staring quietly like it's deciding whether this new hooman has been properly approved.

Of course, the security team runs on a flexible schedule. Long naps in sunbeams are an important part of the routine. After all, it takes energy to monitor the house all day. But the moment something interesting happens, they're awake and back on duty. Every little noise gets attention. Every movement gets noticed. Living with a cat means there is always a tiny guard somewhere nearby keeping watch over the whole place.

'I know this will be a long journey': After two years of patience and slowly earning the trust of a shy feral on their porch, a couple decides to give her a safe home inside

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 14:00
Some cats take a little longer to trust people, but when they do, the bond is really special.

For the past two years, this shy porch cat has slowly become part of the routine. She lived outside, but she always knew where to find food, shelter, and a familiar pair of humans who cared about her. A small house on the porch, daily meals, and the occasional visit indoors helped build a fragile but meaningful trust over time. She's always been cautious and quick to hide, but she kept coming back.

When it came time to move to an upstairs apartment, there was a small test. Food was placed at the top of the stairs during her usual feeding time. To everyone's surprise, she followed and even stepped inside to explore the new place for a moment. That small step felt like a sign that maybe she was ready for something more.

After trapping her and bringing her to the vet for a checkup, it turned out she had already been spayed as part of a TNR program. Now she's settling into a temporary crate space while she adjusts to indoor life. It's a big change for a cat who is used to having the entire outdoors as her territory, so it's no surprise that she's feeling unsure and keeping to herself right now.

But the fact that she relied on this home for food, shelter, and even brought the occasional "gift" says a lot. Trust like that takes time. With patience, quiet space, and plenty of care, this porch cat may slowly realize that she's already right where she belongs.

Abandoned kitten found in the middle of the woods at night alone by sweet couple, they immediately take her in, clean her up, and give her the home she deserves

Mon, 03/09/2026 - 13:00
Abandoned and alone – being a kitten in the woods isn't safe, or recommended.

This poor thing was just abandoned on her own. A couple heard distant meows coming from the woods, they immediately went towards the sound, concerned about the idea that a kitten would be there lost and alone. The kitten was dirty, covered in dirt and dust. They immediately took in the kitten, cleaned her up, and they are doing everything they can to make sure the kitten is well. Maybe they will end up adopting the poor thing, but if they don't we can all trust that they'll take good care of the kitten until finding her a furrever home.
