Bags don't stay empty for long around cats. 

Cats don't see bags as objects, they see them as opportunities. The second one shows up, it's game over. Paper, plastic, tote, doesn't matter. If it makes that little crinkle sound, it's basically a personal invitation. You put a bag down for one second and suddenly there's a cat inside it like it spawned there.

They also have zero respect for size limits. A bag that can barely hold a sandwich will somehow contain a full cat. Front half goes in confidently, back half gets sorted out later. There's a brief pause when the bag makes noise, then right back to business like nothing unusual is happening. Full purrsuit of bag living.

Once inside, they're convinced they've disappeared. Entire cat visible, tail waving around, head poking out, still acting like they've mastered stealth. They'll sit there staring at you like you're the one missing something. Peak delusion, zero doubt.

The bag is no longer yours. It has been officially reassigned. You could have just unpacked groceries, you could need it later, none of that matters. The bag has a new purpose now, and that purpose is cat.

You may pay rent, but the cat owns the place. 

Cats don't move in, they close on the property. No paperwork, no inspection, just one confident walk through the door and suddenly they're the homeowner. You might have signed the lease, but they clearly see themselves as the landlord. From that moment on, it's less of your place and more their purrsonal residence.

They set the house rules immediately. Doors must remain open at all times, chairs are first-come first-served (and they always come first), and any surface can become a designated cat zone without notice. You try to relocate them and get hit with a look that says that's not in the contract. It's their way or the hallway.

They also take their role seriously. Daily walk-throughs happen on their schedule. Slow, deliberate steps from room to room, occasional pauses to loaf in the middle of everything like a supervisor on site. If something is out of place, they'll inspect it. Quality control is clearly a full-time job.

After a while, you just accept it. You adjust your routine, work around their chosen spots, and respect the boundaries they've set. They're fully settled, completely comfortable, and running the show. You're not the owner, you're just lucky enough to live in their house.

A once fearful cat is now choosing cuddles on her own. 

This couple adopted Méi, a 3-year-old calico who had already lived a full life before even getting to them. She had been found outside with three kittens, so it made sense that she came in cautious and unsure. In the beginning, she kept her distance, hiding most of the time, watching everything closely, and not fully relaxing. They were even told not to expect much closeness from her, which made those early days feel a little uncertain.

But things started to shift faster than expected. Within about ten days, she made her way onto the couch, sitting near them instead of staying hidden. She was curious, clearly wanting to be close, just not fully ready yet. Even while her owner was away, she recognized her voice on the phone and came looking for her, which says a lot.

Then came the real turning point. After being gently introduced to the bed, Méi came back on her own. Not just once, but over and over, climbing up, getting closer, settling in, and eventually sleeping right on top of her. Now she follows her around, chats constantly, and purrs like she has a lot to say.

It's the kind of progress that feels small on the outside but means everything for a cat like her. She went from always watching from a distance to choosing closeness on her own terms. Now she keeps coming back for more.

We're not saying that all cats are stupid or something. In fact, cats are highly intelligent and skilled! But for some reason there's a strange dissonance between their intellect and abilities, and their countenance. There's a common and unforgettable dumbfounded look on their face. They're constantly bewildered at something, and it seems like they mentally just arrived in this universe. They could have been elsewhere, but we'll never know it. But in a way, that's what makes them so cute, unique, and memorable. There's something so pure and innocent about their silly smiles, their tongues sticking out, and their eyes wide in shock at some invisible thing. They're playful and imaginative, and that's part of why we love them so much. There's endless amusement with cats solely because of that blank expression. They look at nothing, and it looks like nothing is inside their heads. One moment they're elegant, poised, and regal, but the next they're staring blankly at a wall as if they've completely forgotten what existence is. The Hound has been a feral cat for nearly his entire life. He got into trouble, got banned from some places, made himself a reputation… until he got older, decided to retire, and chose the one and only human that he wanted to live with. 

Life as a stray cat is hard. You have to look for shelter, look for food, face the weather. There is a lot to do, and although many cats do it, probably because they don't know much else, we, as owners of cats, know just how much happier they would be getting spoiled at home. Cats love being fed endlessly, having as much water as they could ever need, and always having a warm spot to warm up in.

But there is a reason that house cats live longer, and some street cats come to that understanding. Like the Hound did. He understood that it is time to retire, and now, he is living his best life, being spoiled, loved and telling all of his stories, from inside a warm home.

We did it again, friends. We have made it to the weekend. There were some moments when we weren't sure it would happen. So many crazy things are happening all at once in the world right now, and everything feels a little shaky and unsure. The one thing though, at least on the internet, that never changes, is the people's love for cats. And that is what we are here to enjoy today. In this weekly Caturday meowgazine, we put together the best of the best of cats on the internet. 

In this segment, we bring you the best cat memes of the week, the ones that people shared and smiled at. We bring you the most viral cat tweets that had people talking all week long. We give you the most wholesome cat stories, the ones that made people smile even while things in the world around them were stressful. People are always loving on cats on the internet, and we, the cat lovers that we are, are thanking the internet every day for it. 

Cats act like every meow is breaking news. 

Cats meow like they've got a full speech prepared and you're the only audience that matters. It's not just a sound, it's a whole meownologue. Hungry, bored, mildly offended, or just checking in, they've always got something to say and zero hesitation about saying it loudly.

Some cats keep it short and sweet, a quick little meow and they're done. Others treat it like a full meowsical performance. They'll follow you from room to room, meow after meow, like you're in the middle of an ongoing conversation you didn't agree to join. You respond once and suddenly it's a full back-and-forth.

It started with one unexpected visitor and quickly became a whole family

This family had moved out to the country years ago and never once saw a stray cat. Then, just a week after losing their cat, a tiny white cat quite literally dropped into their lives. On a day they almost wouldn't have been home, she tumbled down from a tree, walked right up like she belonged, and flopped over for belly rubs. Her collar was tangled, her leg caught, and they helped free her. From that moment, she stayed close.

They did everything they could to find an owner. Knocked on doors, posted online, had the vet check for a chip. Nothing. She was healthy, friendly, and clearly not going anywhere. Then came the surprise. She was pregnant. What started as one unexpected cat quickly became something much bigger.

About a month later, she gave birth to three kittens. Tiny, fluffy, and full of purrsonality right from the start. The idea of separating them didn't sit right, so they stayed together. The house filled up again, this time with four cats, and somehow it all made sense.

It really feels like the Cat Distribution System stepped in at exactly the right moment. Just when the house had gotten quiet, it filled it back up with life again. One little cat turned into a whole new chapter, bringing energy, chaos, and a lot of comfort with it.

A purring cat can derail your entire day in seconds.

And while you might have assumed that most cats would turn their noses up at the idea of any kind of labor to earn their keep. It seems as though more than a few of these felines have stepped up to the plate and are set to take on a significant portion of the job market by next year.

Like this rather peculiar turn of events with a woman adopting a kitten from the street, chasing its brother for days, only for him to break into her home and reunite with his sibling.

Such are the mysterious ways of the Cat Distribution System - we might never fully understand how it works exactly, but if we know only one thing about it that'll always satisfy us, it's that it never fails to match the right cat to the right hooman who will adopt them and give them a forever home. These ameowzing rates of success make us believe in the ways of the CDS, this curious entity that gives cats their needed homes, even if we don't know anything about it.

Without multiple coincidences happening one after the other, this couple never would have adopted this cat. But they did, and they decided to name her appropriately. 

The CDS works on coincidences. That is something that we, as cat people who are online a lot, know for a fact. Story after story of coincidence after coincidence. Stories of the CDS delivering a kitten to a couple on a picnic at midnight. Stories of the CDS delivering a kitten to someone via the Starbucks drive-through. Stories of the CDS sending a kitten flying into her new owner's arms - literally flying in through the window. Dropped the kitty in, and the kitty never left. 

It's always a coincidence, and the people that it happens to always feel like it is the most special thing in the world. Because it is. It is purrfect and special every single time. For the couple in this story, it took infinite coincidences to be adopted by this cat. They did things that day that they have never done, and they were rewarded by the universe with the best gift that it could give them - a kitty. And that kitty got the most appropriate name they could think of. Everyone, meet Karma. 

At first, when this itty bitty kitty met this puppy, her reaction was fear. He's quick, he's excited, he's a little too much of everything. But it took nearly no time at all for her to change her mind, and the cuddles that ensued are some of the cutest ever. 

Cats and dogs can be best friends. A part of that thinks that this is obvious, but some people still truly believe that they cannot. We, as people who are chronically online, and specifically, chronically in all the cat and dog spaces online, have seen this countless times. Pictures, videos and stories about cats and dogs bonding, becoming inseparable. 

Of course, there is a reason why these beliefs exist. It's true that cats and dogs are very different from one another. Just in the most basic thing, in the wagging of their tail - for a dog, the wagging of the tail is an indication of happiness, and for cats, it's an indication of curiosity at best and strong irritation at worst. 

Usually, for a pair like that to become friends, cats and dogs need to grow up together. That way, they have enough time to learn the differences between one another, to find out the true meaning of all of them. Growing up together is not necessary, though. Some cats and some dogs are simply more patient than most, and they are able to use that patience to learn the meaning of each other's behavior later in life as well, without having to spend their childhoods together. 

And sometimes… on rare and beautiful occasions, none of that is necessary. Sometimes, cats and dogs bond with one another instantly. They meet one another, and within no time, they are fast friends. They choose one another the same way that they choose their humans. That is what happened in this video. 

The kitten and pupper here did not know one another, but they also did not need years to bond, to learn. They just needed a couple of minutes. The doggo, with his excitement and persistence, kept approaching the kitten. And then the kitten, after the initial shock of meeting him, realized that the excitement was just that, and it wasn't anything to be scared of. Just like that, within no time at all, this kitten went from fearing this puppy to cuddling with it. And yes, the cuddles are indeed as cute as you imagine.
