Cats sploot like they just gave up mid-movement. One second they're walking around, next second they're flat on the floor with their back legs kicked straight out. No lead-up, no hesitation, just straight into it. They hit a limit and decided that was enough for now.

They always manage to do it right where you need to be. Middle of the room, doorway, anywhere that makes it slightly inconvenient. Fully stretched across your path with zero awareness. You're the one stepping around them while they stay exactly where they are.

The legs are what make it. Straight out behind them like they forgot they're attached. The front half looks completely normal, the back half looks like it stopped working. Cats are whimsical, whiskered, and wonderful. They're the purrfect escape from the grind of the work week. We get so caught up in our busy day to day lives. Work, commuting, errands, cleaning, laundry, groceries, cooking, and tending to your pets. But cats are so whimsical that they just take us right out of that state of mind and into luminous states. It is not often that a rescue pawrent plans for their incoming cat with such dedication and forethought that it makes us wish we were the cat and consider swapping places with said cat. But in this case, we would have paid good money to a witch doctor to turn us into a cat.

In most rescue stories, the rescue itself is the thing that is worth more than anything else. Sure, it is nice to have nice things, but when you are a cat coming from a life lived on the streets and possibly worse. Just having a roof over your head and food in your bowl is more than enough to keep you satisfied with your choice to be rescued by a hooman.

But in this story, the hooman hero who rescues the cat is so darn considerate and cat loving that his approach to readying his home for her arrival was so full of thought and care that we would not have minded taking the cat's place at all. We cannot remember the last time that someone laid out our bedding for us, cleaned the toilet and cooked up some delicious food for us. So the only questions we are left with are how can we turn into cats? And how are we going to find a hooman like this one?
 

When a cat chooses us, it's always a blessing. It's already hard to win the trust of a cat, so if and when you do - it's an easy choice to embrace it with both hands. But we know cats are very opinionated, and this one here? She adopted her humans, for sure, but very much in her own terms.

It's not every Tuesday and Wednesday that a cat comes your way, feels comfortable in your home, and adopts themselves as an integral part of your family. But when it happens, almost like the cat is sent by the Cat Distribution System right to your door, it's a magical situation. All of that is especially true if the cat decides to divide their time between families. Some cats are poly… and there's nothing we can do to change them. We all know that cats, as cute as they are, can be one of the most stubborn animals. Their strong will is sometimes heavier than a hippopotamus refusing to go out of the lake - and let's see anyone try to defy them. And this one cat here below? There's a running joke about orange cats that they all share one collective brain cell, and each orange cat who doesn't have the brain cell is just running on instincts and a purrre drive for shenanigans. That being said, they're also some of the most loving cats we've ever met. All you need to take care of an orange cat is some food, a big heart, and a lot of patience.

The food part is crucial, because many of them are food motivated, which is what makes the start of our story below so intriguing. A cat dad started to get worried when his clementine-colored kitty didn't show up for breakfast one meowrning, so he started looking for her. He heard some noises coming from above him, and realized that the shuffling and scratching noises were coming from the attic. He climbed the stairs, poked his head through, and found not only his fluffy feline, but a 5-creature crew of tiny criminals that had taken up residence in his attic. More than that, the fuzzy felons seemed to be treating his cat like their leader.

What did we tell you? Orange cats have a way of making the impawssible possible, and to always expect the unexpected.

It might not be just a coincidence that your cat got clingier recently, they could be telling you something you don't even know yet.

Cats are much more purrceptive than we give them credit for. Dogs usually get all the fame and spotlight when it comes to understanding things about us hoomans, but cats just communicate it in a different way. One of the biggest ways cats communicate with us is through physical actions, and if your cat all of a sudden becomes awwdorably clingy, they might smell some hormonal changes you're not even aware of yet.

They don't understand pregnancy the way we do - if they saw you with a giant, round belly, they would probably just think you're a giant, chonky cat, not a pregnant one. But, cats can smell when your body starts pumping out a whole lot of estrogen in order to move the pregnancy along, meaning that they can actually smell your pregnancy without ever seeing it. You also produce more body heat, and we all know how much cats love warm things. It's not uncommon for cats to start sleeping on your pregnant belly for warmth and comfort.

Don't take every time your cat starts cuddling with you as a sign you might be pregnant, but sometimes, it might not hurt to check. Although it wouldn't be the first time that we found out by surprise! If a cat is generally friendly, but there is only one person that she hates, then there has to be something very special about that person. 

At least, that is what we instinctively think. We always tell people to trust their cats. Believe the signs that your cats give you. If your cat hates your boyfriend, then there is generally a reason for it. A bad vibe. An incorrect kind of feeling. And if your cat is reacting like this, then you should keep one eye open. If your cat keeps running away from your roommate, listen to it, take notice. 

Of course, just like people, sometimes… cats just don't bond with some of us. Cats can love some people while simply tolerating others. And that should be okay too. After noticing the signs, listening to your cat, and then doing your own investigation of the person, if you find out that the person is actually cool with cats, then maybe your cat just- doesn't like them. And that's cool too.

Stray cats have this uncanny ability to multiply when you feed them.

Like little Trojan horses, mama cats will slip into the hearts of nearby humans, and a few months after they've won over their hearts, they double (sometimes triple) their numbers! Did someone order more cats? Do any cat lovers want to love and care for a litter of kittens? Surely, every cat lover has the time and capacity to bottle-feed four little kittens every two hours for the next several weeks? Who needs sleep anyway? 

As always, a cat lover could never resist the pathetically smol mews of a kitten. Meowing in unison and exclaiming their elation over their towel-covered cardboard box home, these kittens were extremely grateful when their mama cat decided to trust in the care of a human. After she'd proved herself by feeding the mama cat for several months, this street calico knew that she could trust this bipedal giant more than the others out there. This particular human was not only trustworthy and kind but generous enough to share the beloved kitty kibbles and a bowl of water on those really hot days. 

For that, this cat lover was rewarded 5x over when the mother cat decided to bring over her kittens for their own luxury spa treatment. 

An unlimited cat buffet and a heart full of love awaited these kitties, and the mama cat knew exactly what she was doing when she hopped the fence with each kitten, one by one, changing their little feline lives forever. All it takes is the TLC and affection of one human to change the mind of a cat, coaxing them out of hiding and into a place of love and trust. 

And when a mother cat with four mouths to feed learns to trust after a lifetime on the street, that is truly a beautiful thing. Behold, the video of a sweet mama learning to love again through the lens of her innocent babies. It's no wonder this calico went viral!

How do you think your cats would behave if you made them into social media influencers?

When we scroll through different videos on TikTok or Instagram, whenever we see a funny video of a silly cat going along with their pawrent's shenanigans, the first thing that comes to our minds is, how on earth did they manage to convince their cats to do all of that?

We've seen videos of cats performing circus-worthy tricks, we've seen them lip-syncing to viral sounds and pop songs, and we've even seen them traveling across the world on the back of their hoomans. Some cats simply go along with everything. And every time we finish watching another crazy video of an influencer with their pawdorable and accommodating cat, we can't help but look over at our two furry felines and wonder what would happen if we tried to do that as well.

However, any time we point a camera phone at either one of our cats, even if it's just to take a cute picture of them, they seem to know what we're up to, and they refuse to play along. It doesn't matter what they were doing; as soon as the camera is on, they stop. This only confirms our suspicions that our cats know they can become famous on the internet, and that they simply do not want to. There is no point in trying to get them to act out a viral sound or get them to do silly tricks, because they won't participate in anything they don't approve of, and it's clear they do not approve of the Instagram account we made just for the two of them.

Honestly, it is probably for the better that these feisty felines are not interested in becoming influencers on the internet, because the fame would have gone straight to their heads, and we are not sure we are ready to deal with all that drama that would have followed. We are grateful that we can still create some silly cat memes from the funny photos we take of them when they don't notice, just like the hissterical ones that are waiting down below.

The evidence is there, the cat is not. 

Cats commit crimes with zero buildup. One second everything is fine, next second something's on the floor and they're already walking away. No rush, no panic. Just a calm exit like nothing worth noting happened. The evidence is right there, but they're done with it.

Getting caught doesn't change anything. You'll watch it happen in real time. Paw reaches out, object gets pushed, full eye contact made. They still follow through. Nothing changes after. Same behavior, same results. They'll do it again five minutes later with the same energy. You already know how it's going to go, and they do too. At some point you accept it. It's their house, you just live in it.

This was never supposed to be a second cat situation. 

It started as a completely unplanned decision. A friend posted about two abandoned kittens, and on impulse, this person decided to take one in. This wasn't part of the plan at all, especially after already adopting a cat they thought would be their one and only. But sometimes those "just this once" moments turn into something bigger.

Walter came in as a tiny rescue and settled in fast. What could have been a slow adjustment turned into an easy fit. The real surprise was the senior cat. Instead of tension or distance, there was acceptance. Then more than that, actual friendship. Playing together during the day, sharing toys, and ending up sleeping side by side like it had always been that way.

That kind of bond doesn't always happen, especially with a new kitten and an older cat. It usually takes time, patience, and a bit of luck. Here, it just worked. Walter didn't just join the home, he became part of the routine right away.

Now it's hard to imagine things any other way. The "only cat" plan didn't last, but what replaced it feels better. One impulsive decision turned into two cats that actually enjoy each other, keeping each other company and filling the space in a way one cat couldn't on their own.

For the dog to be so gentle around a newborn kitten is simply amazing. 

This couple were on the beach with their dog having the time of their lives. They noticed something by the side of the car wheel. There was a dog food box, and inside the box was none other than a little kitten! A mere 15 days old, and tiny as ever. She's purrfectly healthy, despite being a stray, and they decide it's the cat distribution system giving them a kitten and they take her home. They give her pet milk formula by the vet's recommendation. They had already considered getting a cat, but thought better of it due to their dog. Despite their worries, the kitten and dog are getting along better than expected. They have a great connection, and the dog is respectful of the kitten's age and abilities. Never doubt the mysteriousness of the cat distribution system!   

Cat lovers around the world know the power and potency of the forbidden feline fluff. It is a material so enchanting, so intoxicating that even the most serious of dog lovers can find themselves drawn into the fluff.

But lucky for you cat lovers this forbidden fluff is safely tucked behind your screen and so the worst that can happen to you is that you end up smushing the screen to your face. Whereas in reality if you were to be put into a trance by said fluff and drawn in closer to touch it, you could very quickly find yourself in a situation that you might never come back from.

Many cat lovers claim that they would be more than ok with closing out their days on this planet having at least been able to experience the intense fluffiness of the feline belly. But we figure it is much more reasonable to enjoy it from the safety of a photo such that we might at least learn to try and control ourselves, thereby sparing our lives in a real life fluff encounter. 
 

Of the 9,347,382 pictures of your cat on your phone, which is the one you would choose if you could only choose one?

We always advise people to upgrade their cloud storage when they adopt a new cat, especially if it's their first one. Before having pets, you take a normal amount of pictures of everyday things, like your food that's purrfectly tasty, a "cheers" moment with friends, or a cool statue you saw on vacation. But once you adopt a pet, you start taking pictures of them all the time. We're not exaggerating. Sometimes, you'll just take a picture of them doing absolutely nothing just because you can (and because they're adorable, even when they're doing nothing).

Before you know it, you'll have thousands of photos of them clogging your phone storage, and only a handful of them are actually "good". We're not telling you to delete them, we'd never do that, but what if someone told you that you could only keep one? Do you have one photo of them that purrfectly represents their entire purrsonality? You could only share this one photo of them for the rest of their lives, could you do it?

Are we really living in a world where AI is more trustworthy than the doctors in our hospitals?

There is such a thing as too much information. When WebMD came out, it made everyone believe that the five minutes of research about their symptoms was about the same as 8+ years of medical school. A small cough could mean that you had some purrfectly obscure diagnosis that only you could find. Don't get us wrong, sources of information like WebMD are very useful, but should always be verified with a doctor who actually did go to medical school.

Now, with the increasing popularity of AI, the same thing could happen. A treasure trove of information without proper context can lead to wildly different outcomes, but it can also catch the rare human errors that slip through the cracks. For example, just a few weeks ago, a man cured his doggo's terminal cancer by making a vaccine with the help of ChatGPT and other generative AI. You have to admit that that's pretty incredible.

One of the unfurtunate parts of being human is making mistakes, and those mistakes have consequences. One cat owner got a life-ending diagnosis for his fluffy feline, and was advised to let her pass as soon as possible, but something about the results just didn't make sense to him. So, he plugged in the results to ChatGPT, and that's when he discovered that the vet might be wrong. He went back in and demanded a new test, which ended up saving his cat's life. Seems that not everything around AI is terrible.

We cat people may come from many different backgrounds, cultures, and faiths, but we all have one belief we share in common - and that's of the existence of the Cat Distribution System. It's that meowsterious… body, entity, or office, maybe, that matches the cat in need to the right human that'll adopt them. This is why you hear of so many stories that go along the lines of "I didn't search for a cat, but this cat has found me. We're in love now." The CDS doesn't just send the cats over - they make sure, by some intricate fate weaving, probably, that the match is meowing magnificent. But this particular cat that appeared right after this family's senior cat had crossed the rainbow bridge had more than just the CDS surprise up her paw.

Whenever we see cats adopting or befriending other animals, we always think that it's the cutest thing, but we've never known quite why that happens. Well, now we do. 

Despite the fact that people always call cats aloof and unfriendly, we, as people who actually follow cat content online, know that the opposite it true. Cats bond very hard with all kinds of animals. We have seen a cat adopt a bunny that was abandoned by its mother. We have seen a cat instantly befriend a dog who desperately wanted love, cuddling with him every night. We have seen a cat adopt a baby otter and raise it in an adorable but strange little relationship. 

It happens way more often than you would think it does. And every single time, we are so busy awwing at it and thinking that it's the cutest thing in the world, that we end up forgetting to wonder why it happens, what causes the cat to look at these itty bitty things as family rather than anything else. 

An ex-feral cat and a senior ex-fighting dog who hates cats… you would think that would never work. But somehow, the opposite is true, and these two became best friends. 

Opposites attract. That is what people say. And maybe that is why, despite the fact that cats and dogs are so, so different, they sometimes end up becoming best friends. Cats will bond with the dogs they grew up with. Dogs will bond with cats who are patient and open. There are enough differences for them to overcome in normal circumstances. 

In today's story, there was a lot more for these animals to overcome. The dog came from a complicated background and hates cats. The cat doesn't quite understand how to act like a cat, how to purr, how to show affection in ways that normal cats do. And yet, the two of them became best friends. How? We don't quite know.
