This little kitty is living a life of royalty. 

Not everyone lives next to a castle. In Europe and Great Britain, it's a dime a dozen to have historical buildings, beautiful architecture, or ancient castles just existing around you. The world can be such a unique and unusual place. For the family in this story, they do in fact live near a castle, Drimnagh castle to be exact, in Drimnagh, Ireland. They were at the castle and next to it is a duck pond. They were going about their merry way when they see this little one-brain-cell kitten trying to catch ducks double his size from the duck pond beside the old castle and visitor center. He just just a tiny and lost thing. They saved him from falling in, took him home where he started to play, eat, and sleep. They took him to the vet and there was no chip. The castle workers came and got him along with some toys he played with all night and some treats. It was an adorable reunion between king kitten and his castle. Knowing that it was not her place to immediately take the kitten home, she stepped back inside to wait and see if momma came back for her baby. But when rain clouds started to move in and water began pouring from the sky, our young rescuer had one heck of a decision to make.

 

One chaotic cat is hard enough, but when two criminal cats work together, you get something iconic. 

Everyone knows that cats are capable of committing crimes. That's part of the deal. You adopt a cat, you know that your furniture will be scratched, your food will be stolen off your plate directly from under your nose, and your favorite breakable items will meet their end against the hard floor. That's how it is. That's how cats are. It doesn't matter that cats sleep for most of the day. The few hours in which they are awake are hours full of chaos and hilarious disorder. That's one cat. As a cat owner myself, even just the thought of losing my cat is an unbearable one. My sweetheart is 11-years-old already, and even though I write stories every day about cats who reach very old ages, I also see the ones who don't. I try to make every second with her count, and I try not to think about the day it'll all be gone. Because I can't. She is my first cat, my soul cat, my everything, and I don't know how long it will be before I'll be able to adopt again after her. But a situation like the one in today's story might get even me to deal with the future grief differently. 

If I, like this person, right after losing my cat, found a sick kitten in desperate need of help like this one, I wouldn't have been able to look away either. This kitten was 8 weeks old, 1 pound in weight and half-blind, and she wasn't meant to survive the first 24 hours of her life after being found. Of course, when this person rescued this kitten, they didn't know this. They saw that she wasn't well, but they couldn't know that the situation was so dire. And while still dealing with the grief over their own cat, they had to deal with the news that this one was likely not going to make it. But they didn't give up on her, waking up every hour or so to feed her and help her. And the kitten didn't give up either. She had hope now for a better future, and she wanted to live, so she fought for it. And right now, she is doing so, so much better.

He was offended, but we don't understand why - you need to connect to the cat you adopt. You need to choose them on your own.

This cat was alone outside, in a dangerous area, and she was lucky to be found by a human who recognized that and wanted to help. And the cat knew that too. When she was being rescued, she was cooperative. She wanted to be off the street. She worked with the human, allowing them to put her in a crate and take her away from it all. And this human was so excited and wanted so badly to adopt her. It was only when she was home that she realized what it actually meant to be off the street, and she reacted with fear, and that fear manifested as aggression. And that hurts to see. Especially after everything was going smoothly before. We understand that. And so did the rest of the internet. But just like we would have, the internet urged this person to give the cat another chance, and sooner rather than later, it paid off big-time.

Losing your cat, even if it's just for one day, is the worst experience in the world. I say this from experience. I lost my cat for exactly 24 hours back when she was less than one year old. I was a teenager, she was my first cat, and it was not my fault, but it was certainly the worst day of my life. The amount of tears I cried, the number of hours I spent outside searching for her, calling her name, shaking the treat bag into the night, hoping and praying that I didn't lose her forever… It took less than an hour for me to notice she was gone. The person in today's story, the one who claimed that the kittens were theirs, didn't notice they were gone for two whole weeks. That is not a cat owner. 

These kittens were in desperate need of help, and a person in the neighborhood decided to actually do something about it. They caught the kittens and helped them when no one else would. They even reached out to their neighbor to make sure that they weren't crossing some boundary, and the neighbor was more than happy for them to help these animals. It was the neighbor's 30-year-old granddaughter who had an issue. Suddenly, out of the blue, she came rushing in, saying the cats were hers, and even went as far as to involve the police. The rescuer saw the red flags, and although they were shaken, they didn't want to give the kittens to someone like this. So, they called her bluff, got the police involved on their end, and just like that, the kittens are safe again.

Cats have somehow convinced the world that sleeping 16 hours a day counts as being busy.

Cats don't schedule naps. They simply decide the day has been productive enough and power down wherever they happen to be standing. It doesn't matter if they were chasing invisible enemies through the hallway thirty seconds earlier. Once nap time arrives, the mission has been aborted.

Finding a place to sleep is never a challenge, either. Your clean laundry? Perfect. The chair you were about to sit in? Even better. That tiny square of sunlight creeping across the floor?
