Abandoned itty bitty kitty turns husband and wife from dog people to cat people with her cuteness, changing their entire purrspective on pets: '[She] is now a happy and healthy 1-year-old cat'
Cats get a bad rep. Every cat person knows this. It's just that we, actual self-proclaimed cat connoisseurs, care enough to check if those rumors are correct. Of course, they are not. Cats are not aloof, uncaring creatures. Cats are not mean. Cats love their humans very much, even if their way of showing it is not what you instinctively expect. Cats and dogs are different, that's true, but one is not a better pet than the other.
For people who claim that they are "not cat people", it's just a matter of meeting the right cat. Not all of them will. Not all of them are deemed worthy by the CDS. Some haters will remain haters, and quite frankly, it is their loss. More cats for us to adopt. But some of them will be deemed worthy. Some people who "hate cats" will get adopted by a cat, and they will have their entire worldview about cats shattered. Because cats are pawsome pets. This couple is proof of that. Once upon a time, they were "dog people", and now, they have not one, but two kitties living in their home.
'While I have made a little progress, I am still very timid around people': Person finds out formerly feral cat has been stuck in a shelter for over 2 years because she's scared of people, decides to give her a chance, and finds out she's purrfect
Cats who have previously been strays are not always the simplest cats. And that is fair. They have a history, they have stories to tell, they have lived a whole life - with difficulties of their own - that you know nothing about. These timid cats who are afraid of humans are generally afraid of them for a reason. Not every human is a cat person, as difficult as they may be for people like us to understand, and while most of those people don't care about cats, some of them are actively terrible to them.
Still, winning a timid cat's love is something so, so worth it. Getting a cat to trust you, to see - in you - that not all humans are terrible, is worth every bit of effort. Maybe their love wouldn't come as quickly as that of another cat. And maybe these cats will show their love in ways that are a little different. In the end, it will all be worth it. All these cats need is a chance, and once you earn their love, they will love you just as hard, if not harder, than any other cat.
Rockstar stray with a “mohawk” meows his way into a family’s home, only for the online cat community to reveal that his unique markings are actually a rare genetic phenomenon: ‘I guess he's officially our cat.’
Even after millennia of cats living side by side with us (as they graciously permit us to), even after years upon years of sharing amazing stories online of cats from all over the world (just as the online feline family does best), after decades of scientific research into cats (because they're that interesting) - cats seem to still hold so many suprises up their paws, and we are constantly amazed by every new discovery we make. No wonder we love cats so much - they always keep us on the edge of our seats.
So imagine you care for a stray cat outside your home, and you're mesmerized by how unique and beautiful his fur patterns are. He's such a rockstar cat, he even has a "mohawk". So you do all the work to bring him inside, and once you do, you inform the community online, only for them to inform you back - dear family, you've got a very special boy there, with a rare type of fur! Very exciting, right?
Indeed, very exciting. This is what happened with Lenny, the street cat with a long, almost grueling adoption story (told below in full) - but the family who cared for him never gave up on the little guy. Because, like all cat people, they know - all cats deserve a home. Whether they're the plainest of colors, or unique just like him - his fur genetics explained by kind people who were mesmerized by his added pictures. Truly, such a handsome cat.
A Sleepy Scroll of 21 Cat Memes for Tired Folks With Snuggly Felines
Some would argue that the title for the best sleeper in the animal kingdom should go to another animal. There are burly bears, who hibernate between 3-8 months in winter - that's such a long sleep, we're surprised they need any other sleeping time after they wake from hibernating. There are also bats - did you know they sleep 18-20 hours a day, while they're hung upside down like mice curtains? That's talent. Koalas are also great condedants for the tired crown, sleeping even more than 20 hours a day. You see, the eucalyptus leaves they eat are so low in energy (and mildly toxic) that koalas conserve power by… doing absolutely nothing most of the time.
But then you have cats. Cats don't hibernate, but Olympic napping is probably the sport they'll always win gold in. Cats nap pawfessionally, and they do it anywhere: on their humans, on the couch, in cardboard boxes, on your pillow, and in every nook and cranny you don't even know a cat could fit in. And they do it in a respectable 12-16 hours a day. If that's not what professional napping looks like, we don't know what is.
Besides, if you're a cat pawrent, we're pretty sure you're already reading these very words with a cat on your lap, sleeping, of course. Moreover, if you're a cat pawrent, you already know your cat is the best sleeper in the house. It doesn't matter how many of your family members sleep very well each night, or if you have other pets - the cat always wins the gold medal of best sleeping creature.
'The cat distribution system brought me a momma cat and five babies': One abandoned stray showed up at the door and turned a new apartment into a kitten nursery overnight
A young pregnant cat abandoned by a previous tenant started showing up at a new apartment, begging to be let in. Since there was already a cat in the home, she was given a shelter in the patio closet, some kitten food, and a safe place to stay. Then, just over a week after moving in, she gave birth there to five kittens. Not bad for what started as helping out a stray.
Then came the vet visit, and thankfully everyone got a clean bill of health. Momma cat, now Arya, is doing well, the kittens are growing, and the whole family was able to move indoors. What started in a patio closet has turned into a full little nursery set up in the guest bathroom while the babies grow.
A cat that had been abandoned now has a name, a safe home, food, medical care, and people fussing over her and her kittens. The image of tracking kitten weights one week into knowing them says a lot. These little guys are clearly in good hands.
And Arya seems to know it too. Going from meowing at a patio door to slow blinking at the people caring for her babies is a pretty sweet turn. Someone went looking for one cat and ended up with a mom and five kittens instead. Feels like the cat distribution system really outdid itself on this one.
23 Purrecious Pictures of Purrfect Cat Cuddle Puddles to Curl Up With
Cuddle puddles are what happen when cats forget they're supposed to act aloof. All that independence disappears the second a good snuggle pile forms. Suddenly it's tails wrapped together, paws thrown over shoulders, and multiple cats somehow sharing one bed made for half of one cat.
The best part is how excessive it gets. Two cats cuddling is sweet. Five cats stacked in a furry heap looks like a sleepover got out of hand. Someone is always using another cat as a pillow. Someone is half falling off the pile. Somehow everyone seems comfortable anyway.
Cat cuddle piles also have a way of looking both chaotic and completely peaceful. It's a tangle of ears, whiskers, and mystery limbs where nobody seems interested in personal space. The cats are packed in so tightly they look vacuum sealed. It feels less like cuddling and more like a community event.
Cuddle puddles make cats look extra lovable. The same animals knocking things off shelves and sprinting through the house at midnight are suddenly curled up in one giant fluffy friendship knot. Just a full-on purr pile of mutual affection. Hard not to melt a little looking at that much concentrated cat content.
Meet Garfi, the 17-year-old Persian feline holding the title for "World's Angriest Cat" who is secretly a sweetheart
There have been many internet-famous cats over the years that will go down in the history books furrever and ever. The most famous is probably "Grumpy Cat", AKA Tardar Sauce, who became an internet sensation overnight for her purrmanently grumpy face. There are hundreds of cat memes about her, maybe even thousands, and she truly changed the cat meme world with her purrfect presence.
Then, you have Smudge, the cat famous for the "woman yelling at cat" memes, as well as the coughing cat meme. Nyan Cat, the meowgical flying rainbow cat, is one we won't soon furget, and if you're too young to know how Nyan Cat is, then look them up this very instant. We don't like to give out homework, but for some topics, it's crucial for your continuation in life.
And now, we have Garfi, the senior Persian feline who holds the title for the "World's Angriest Cat". But, Garfi has a secret that you would never guess: he's actually a sweetheart. Sure, he's still a cat and lives by his own rules, but he loves his family and his bark is definitely worse than his bite.
Don't judge Garfi by his furrious expression, that's just how he was born. He loves the attention, so make sure you scroll all the way to the end to let him know he did a job well done by taking all of these purrfectly cute pictures!
24 Melting Kitties Defying Space and Physics
Somewhere along the evolutionary timeline, cats made a decision. Not about hunting, or territory, or survival, but about structure. Specifically, they decided they didn't want any. While the rest of the animal kingdom was busy developing skeletons and respecting gravity, cats were quietly opting out of the whole arrangement.
What you're about to witness is not a glitch. It's not bad photography or unusual angles. It's a lifestyle. A philosophy. A fully conscious rejection of the physical laws that govern literally every other living thing on this planet. A windowsill the width of a pencil? Prime real estate. The inside of a salad bowl three sizes too small? Five-star accommodations. The edge of a staircase at a 90-degree angle? Ideal. Preferred, even.
Seasoned street cat spent over 500 days deciding if the persistent people who care for him are really willing to make him their indoor king: ‘We fed [him] outdoors for a year and a half.’
Some cat adoptions take a long time. For some cats, it's not by choice. It might be a rejected cat, waiting for their adoption turn, or a cat who couldn't find their way back home. But some cats, believe it or not, are simply too shy or scared to get adopted. Yeah, shocking. But seriously now - some cats never learn how to behave next to people, and definitely don't necessarily know what it's like to have a person care for them. It might be confusing to them, that these weird and big cats who walk on two legs bring them food… so they run away.
But when these said people don't give up on the more "difficult" cats, they win the love of a cat - which is arguably the best thing in the world. Sure, some cats require more patience and attention, making the adoption process very long (and sometimes tedious), but the results are unmatched. The joy of being able to give a cat a home, especially after so much time and effort were put into the process, is something that's hard to describe in words.
But one person did just that - took care of a cat for a year and a half outside her family's home, and after a successful adoption process, went to tell the online feline family the good news. This is such a heartwarming read that can surely melt the hearts of every cat person out there. And this is exactly why we bring it to you right here - because learning about another cat who won a home and a family's heart is always wholesome.
28 Feline Funnies Featuring Cats Being Their Very Cat Selves
Arguably, any cat is born with the Very Cat personality component in their soul. It's like the part of the mind that thinks 200% like a cat, and drives you to do all the cat things - regardless of logic or rationality. Just: is it cat? Do it. Is it not cat? Don't do it. So we're not saying that it's not sure this cat thing is in every cat since the moment they're born - the pawtential is always there (well, they're the OG cats, no?). But some cats don't click or vibe with the Very Cat mindset. Some cats act like dogs. Some cats are sure they're human.
Surprisingly, though, some humans act in a Very Cat way. Think about it - there are people who only want to be left alone to nap for 16 hours a day, and then crave the zoomies effect at random hours of the night. Some people want affection, but for exactly three seconds, and then they will allow you to love them from the other side of the room, in silence. We all know a person like that. A person hardware with a cat software installed.
But what makes a cat be Very Cat? Well, that depends on the critter itself. If they're doing all their cat things, regardless of what anyone thinks or tells them - then that's a very catty cat right there. No mistakes there. They can be smol cats, large cats, floofy or short-furred - they are definitely the cattest of cats. And we love them exactly as they are.
26 Purrfectly Pawdorable Feline Funnies to Cure Your Urgent Craving for Cute Chaos
Just when you thought, for one single moment, that things might be calming down a little around the world… boom. They are not. Things are just as crazy as before. Everything is… as normal at this point. We think that, slowly but surely, we are getting used to this new normal of madness. It doesn't even feel new anymore. And so, since it doesn't look like the world is going to change anytime soon, we basically need to embrace the madness. In whatever ways we can. Chaos is normal. So we might as well look for cute chaotic cat moments to fill our days with instead.
Cute cat pictures, wholesome cat stories, silly cat memes - those are things that have been helping us get through the past few years with our sanity mostly intact. Mostly. But they have been helping. And since they have been helping but not fixing things entirely, our only conclusion is that we most likely are not looking at enough of them. We need more kitty cat cuteness and chaos in our lives. And that is why we are all here.
Giant Scottish cat goes viral for hating windy weather, and the internet makes him into an instant classic meme: 'He guards the coast of his homeland with bravery'
If you are someone who has ever actually been owned by a cat, then you know that cats have so, so much purrsonality. They are not carbon copies of one another. Each cat is different. Each cat has different habits. Each cat has likes and dislikes. And they show it to us. They make sure that we know what they love and what they hate in the funniest ways.
Some cats will scream at closed doors because they hate doors being closed for some reason. Some cats love sinks and will refuse to leave them even when you have to use them. Some cats love going outside, some can't stand the thought of it. Some cats love water, and other cats hate every snack except your Cheetos. Of course, the things they love - that's cute. They purr, they cuddle around them, it's easy to see when a cat loves something. But the things that cats hate… that's easy to see too, and it is absolutely hilarious. A cat's miffed face is one of the best faces. And Fergus's miffed face is one of the best that we have seen in a long, long time.
'Tiny survivor': Golden Labrador finds a tiny sick void kitten whose mom and siblings crossed the rainbow bridge, she makes it through treatment and comes out the other side spicy, snuggly and with a new doggo best friend
It's amazing, the kind of recoveries that cats can make. You can find them in the worst circumstances, frozen, broken, sick, with vets giving them one day to live, but as long as they have hope, there is a chance of them not just making it, but making a full recovery. As long as you don't give up on them, they will make every effort to not give up on you.
This kitty was nicknamed "tiny survivor" by her pawrents, because that is what she is. The family's golden Labrador found the kitten outside. Her mother and her siblings had crossed the rainbow bridge. She was alone, fighting for herself despite never learning how. And she was sick. We don't know how long she would have been able to go on had this Lab not found her. We don't know how much hope she had left. What we do know is that it wouldn't have lasted forever, that she needed more hope, something to hold onto. And that Lab became that thing for her. After recovering from her treatment, he is the place she went to. Her best friend, her savior, her hope.
20+ Whiskerful Kittens Holding Softness and Serenity for Sleepy Dreamland
Wherever you are right now, whatever you're doing, and whoever you're around, there's probably someone there who is sleep deprived. Hey, it might even be just everyone there who's sleep deprived. Just because something is common doesn't mean it's normal, and being sleep deprived has become a constant state of being for so many people for so many different reasons. Whether you're a Gen Alpha teen, a working mother, or just a millennial trying to not get in debt from your morning coffee, everyone is equally as likely to be a bit bereft in their sleep.
Cats usually don't struggle with this basic human condition. Cats have a way of…sleeping all day. And if you're a cat pawrent, extra reason to be sleep deprived! These little furballs will make it so easy to be awake when you don't want to be with their midnight meows, zoomies, and modes of chaos. Just because they're cute and seem innocent doesn't mean they are! Their way of harboring energy is by stealing it from you the way an energy vampire would. But at the end of the day what can we do? No one is going to get rid of them, and if you ask us at I Can Has Cheezburger, we would just sacrifice all our sleep for a better quality of life for our cats.
21 Super Spoiled Cat Children Who Stand to Inherit their Pawrents’ Estates
These are not your next door neighbor's cat. Or whatever it is cats would do if given the opportunity to change the ways of this world to their will.
Either way we figured it would be a good idea for you to get to know some of these soon to be rulers of the world and so we put them together in this collection of cute cat children. Sneaky stray cat disappears after being trapped and adopted into Canadian cat lover’s home, causing reset of trap and capture of second feral feline, after which original cat comes crawling out of basement, making them an instantly happy fur family
For after going through a classic feral feline capture and rehabilitation this cat pawrent thought that their time with troubled felines was over. That from that point onwards they would be dealing with a decently well behaved feline who enjoys living indoors with them. However, old habits dissipate slowly and before long the cat she painstakingly worked on acclimating to her home went MIA. And as any reasonable pawrent would do she set up the trap once more to capture the catto she was sure had run away.
However, as fate would have it this was a Cat Distribution System trick designed to capture a second feral feline to join the first one who had been hiding in the basement tearing up the insulation while trying to chase mice. And with stories like this you can start to see where the creators of shows like Looney Tunes got their inspawration.
'The CDS has hit me with a kitten': A kitten trapped in a wall gets a dramatic rescue, a full meal, and a purrmanent place in a four-cat home
Four cats through the cat distribution system and somehow another one shows up. This catto was pulled from inside a wall and named Oatmeal. A stray had kittens in an attic and two fell into the wall by a coworker's apartment. While the mother managed to retrieve one, the other was left behind crying until the coworker got him out. From there he got passed along and quickly upgraded from wall kitten to house kitten.
Oatmeal seems to have settled into the role immediately, especially once the wet food came out. After attacking a bowl of food for ten straight minutes, he's figured out that home is where the food is. But along with the cuteness comes the usual rescue scramble: figuring out how young he is, watching for health issues, setting up quarantine from the other cats, calling vets, monitoring litter box habits, and basically turning into a full-time kitten manager overnight.
It is hard not to like how much changed for him in a day or two. He went from stuck in a wall and crying for help to being fed, watched over, and fussed over. That is a pretty good turn for a tiny stray.
Oatmeal already sounds like he has the makings of a classic rescue success story. A rough start, a dramatic save, a huge appetite, and now a safe place to crash. Little man seems to have landed on his paws.
22 Sleepy Memes of Cats Planning Their Day Around the Next Nap
Cats will spend all morning doing almost nothing, get tired from that, and decide it's time for a recovery nap. Then they wake up, stretch for thirty seconds, and somehow need another nap. It's a schedule built entirely around rest, and honestly, they've got a point.
A sleepy cat will turn any spot into premium nap real estate. Laundry pile? Bed. Laptop keyboard? Bed. Freshly folded clothes you were about to put away? Luxury suite. They don't chase dreams, they chase deeper sleep. These little nap connoisseurs are out here treating every sunbeam like a reservation.
Took three steps to the food bowl? Exhausting. Watched a bird through the window? Time for a paws. Knocked a pen off the table? Better hit the meowtress. They move through life like they're one inconvenience away from calling it a day.
And the poses somehow make it even better. Curled into croissants, melted off the couch, face planted mid-doze like they powered down unexpectedly. Some cats don't look asleep, they look professionally committed to snoozing. If anyone understands the art of saying "just five more minutes" and turning it into two hours, it's cats. They're not lazy, they're purrfecting the nap game.
28 Kitty Paws to Give You a Paws and a Big Smile
Seriously, how can something the size of a coin have the emotional impact of a full-blown therapy session? And yet, here we are, scrolling through photos of fuzzy toe beans like it's our full-time job.
Kitty paws are nature's way of saying, "Hey, take a break. You deserve a little joy." Whether they're tucked politely under a loafed body, stretched dramatically mid-nap, or reaching out like they're about to boop your soul, these little marvels never miss. There's an art to the paw. The fluff-to-bean ratio. The gentle curl. The occasional surprise stretch that feels like a personal invitation to relax your entire life.
26 Cats Serving Pure Meme Meowtivation Through the Craft of Sofa Snoozing
It is true. And you can call us crazy cat people for this, but our cats really do motivate us so much. And not because cats are cute and wholesome, and we want to make them happy. Not really. It's because cats have standards, and they enforce them with an iron paw. A cat will refuse to eat anything but the food that it likes, and if that food costs more, then you better work harder, human. It will sit there, lazing about on our couch that we bought and make sure that we, as its servants, are good enough.
Really, cats are inspirational in all kinds of facets of life. We would like to be a lot more like them. And that starts with consuming more of that meowtivation, especially if it comes in the form of silly cat memes. When we are not home, when our pawdorable kitties are not within reach, we must do what we have to to remain connected to the cat spirit.
