'The universe decided it was time': After a stray mom moved her litter and left the tiny runt behind, a couple welcomed the orange kitten they’d been hoping for

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 10:30
Five was too many, but one was just right.

A neighbor texted asking if this family could take in five kittens. They already foster, so it wasn't a random ask, but five is a lot, especially when money's tight. They couldn't do it, but they didn't just leave it there. They started looking for someone who could take the whole litter, trying to make sure the kittens still ended up somewhere safe.

The next day, the neighbor followed up. The mom cat had moved the kittens overnight and left one behind. At that point, it was a simple decision. One kitten was doable, so they stepped in and took him.

He's tiny, just 11 ounces, but healthy. They brought him to the vet right away and everything checked out, which is a big relief with a kitten that small. Now it's just the usual routine, feeding him, keeping him warm, and watching him closely.

They'd already been wanting an orange cat, and that's exactly what this kitten is. They didn't go looking for one, it just worked out that way. One kitten left behind, and it happened to fit exactly what they could take on.

21 Brewtiful Pictures of Barista Cats Who Took Over the Café and Are Judging Every Drink Choice

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 09:45
A cat behind the counter changes everything.

Cats would run a café like they're doing you a favor just by being there. You walk up, ready to order, and the cat behind the counter gives you one slow look like your drink choice is already questionable. No greeting, no help, just a quiet stare until you panic and order something more expensive than you meant to.

A cat barista wouldn't believe in customization. You get what you get. Oat milk, almond milk, regular milk… it doesn't matter, the cat has already decided. If the cup gets nudged slightly off center or your lid goes missing, that is part of the experience. You are not asking for a fix.

There is also a high chance your coffee never fully makes it to you. It gets inspected, sat next to, maybe lightly tapped just to test gravity. You reach for it and suddenly the cat is right there again, like it forgot you were involved in this at all.

You still take the drink and leave like nothing happened. It might not be what you ordered, but at this point it feels like that was never the point.

'I hate people': 4 abandoned newborn kittens with their eyes still closed found in a paper bag in the California heat, but thankfully, a kind couple saves them just in time and nurses them back to health

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 08:00
When caring strangers save abandoned kittens in desperate need of help, you remember that there is so much good in the world to offset the bad.

No one can resist the cuteness of a kitten. Kittens are some of the most precious, sweetest things in the world. Or at least so we thought. We love kittens so much, we see them as something to protect, that the thought of anyone abandoning a bunch of kittens in a bag in the horrible California heat is… well, unthinkable. But there are some people out there who, apparently, don't have that nurturing instinct when it comes to itty bitty kitties. There are some people who are cruel, no matter how much we don't want to believe it. Thankfully, there are good people out there to offset the bad.

When this woman saw these abandoned kittens, her first reaction was, of course, shock. The second one was to do the right thing - to save these kittens. These were not kittens who were abandoned by their mother or lost. Someone else had seen them before, and that someone chose to leave them in a bag to fend for themselves. We need more people like the couple who saved them, who nursed them back to health. Because there will always be bad people out there. We just need to make sure that we're part of the good ones who keep the balance in this world.

25 Fluffy Feline Funnies Delivering a Soft Meowment of Whiskered Internet Bliss

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 07:15
The best way to take a break from the craziness that is this world is with the best thing in the world - cat memes.

We don't know if you have noticed, but it's been a little whacko out there lately. All we want is to get on social media and scroll through some cute cat pictures, and what we find instead is like- armageddon or something. It's a gamble every time. You might get what you want on social media, or you might see something that you wish you never have. We miss the old times, when the internet was basically all cats and nothing else. There's a part of us that wants to go back. And this why we have made this our job - putting together collections of purrfect cat memes

We save you the stress, basically. We sit here, scrolling through the wasteland that is social media in search of the content that will make you smile and nothing else. No stress, only cats. That is what we want in our lives, and that is what we bring to yours - all the funny cats that you could ever need in one simple site that is doing its best to maintain that old side of the internet.

24 Sassy Little Meow Machines for Your Daily Dose of Dopamine

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 06:30
Sometimes we wake up with an insatiable desire for a dopamine hit so big that we have inspiration and motivation for the entire rest of the day. That's where cat memes come into play.

All of us need a brain break now and again. Good thing it's 2026 and we have smartphones! Imagine what it was like to "decompress" in 1930…must have been awful. But the way we can instantly douse ourselves in dopamine is basically incredible. There are times we need a little brain treat, not a podcast, not a useful, informative, or productive life lesson, just a pure, silly scroll that brings us back to a certain childlike magic and wonder for our little adult but dopamine-loving brains.

Cats truly are the masters of combining elegance with absolute nonsense. One second they're perched dramatically on a windowsill like ancient guardians of forbidden knowledge. The next, they're screaming at a wall because they saw a dust particle move slightly. Their emotional range is unmatched! That's part of what makes them so relatable. Have an oh so happy Sunday scroll of cat memes.

27 Sweet Sunday Kitties for a Peaceful Purr-Filled Reset

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 05:45
Sundays aren't just a day for rest and digest; it's really the puurfect day to scroll peaceful cat memes to get a piece of soft serenity before the work week.

Sundays are made for the introverts, the cozy people, the indolent folk who prefer a movie night in to a party on Friday nights. Sundays are a purrfect allotted day for the liminal rest to catch up on whatever you need to. Maybe you've been putting off vacuuming, maybe you just need to do that grocery run that you've been neglecting, or maybe you need to just lay in bed and stare aimlessly at your phone. The point is that Sundays are soft, and they let us take a deep breath before the chaos of the week begins. What better way to spend the day that with a collection of sweet Sunday kitties living their best, most peaceful little lives?

Cats are the rulers of rest. They practically invented naps (and the Spanish with their siestas). Cats make us jealous of their lifestyle without even trying, but on Sundays, we don't have to be jealous anymore. We can only envy their ability to be on constant rest mode as they lounge in the sun's halation on the floor for hours, or curl on on the couch the whole day you're struggling away in the office or elsewhere. They just exist in all their commitment to comfort, softness, and coziness.

Two cats have successfully expanded their territory to include the local care home, and their owner is delighted about their new career choice: ‘I know [they] make the care home residents happy.’

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 04:00
It's been a while since we heard of cats living a double life, but this story is on the top of this list.

Not all cats are as faithful as others. It doesn't mean that they don't like their humans… just that they have others. Not making any parallels here (get this thought out of your mind), but it's known that your cat might live a double life, calling themselves "the cat" of another family as well. For them, it means double the snacks, double the pets, and double the size of their kingdom. What more could a cat ask for?

Take our cat, for example. In the previous apartment we lived in there was a shared balcony with the neighbors, who had two cat brothers: Shooki and Simba. They were, and we're not exaggerating, absolute units of cats. Every time they waddled across the balcony to our place, it was a "Oh lawd, they comin'" situation all over again. But our cat, Cassie, is a slender void warrior princess who showed them who's the boss. As long as she let them, they were welcome in our place. But the neighbor described the rule of terror she conducted in their place - she was the queen of both apartments. Luckily for her, the neighbors thought she was cute (which she is).

But some cats don't expand their kingdoms by invading another apartment and subjugating its cats to your will (looking at you, Cassie). Some take a tour at the near care home, and decide "Yes, these old people are great. I'm going to live here 50% of my time". Which is exactly what happened to one cat mom, who discovered her cats in the care home right next to her home. And yes, it's as wholesome as it sounds.

The Sacred Sunbeam: 40 Purrfectly Toasty Cats Living on Solar Pawer

Sun, 05/03/2026 - 03:15
Spring is here, and it brings its sun power with it - to the joy of all cats!

Hello there, fellow feline fans and cat pawrents! The height of spring is finally here, and honestly, it's about fluffing time. Now that we're finally in May and those annoying April showers have finally decided to pack it up and leave, the world is looking way more inviting. While we're out here just trying to figure out our allergies, the cats? Oh, they are absolutely thriving right now. Sunbeam season is officially back in business, and they are here for every single second of it.

There is seriously nothing better than watching a cat find that one purrfect golden patch of light hitting the floorboards and just... melting. It's like they turn into floofy little popsicles the second they touch a warm windowsill. Since the rain finally cleared out, they've been reclaiming their thrones in the garden, flopping down like pampered royalty on a long-awaited holiday. You see them stretched out on the porch, sun-soaking in the grass, and basically turning every backyard into their own private five-star resort.

This is why we asked the best cat community in the world, our very own ICHC cat peeps on Facebook, to share their majestic feline overlords finally basking in the sun. And we're very purroud to present them right here (well, just 40 of them, but really - all your cats are great!). And if you want to share your own cat with the rest of the coolest cat people online - head over and follow the I Can Has Cheezburger Facebook page, to search for these picture-sharing joy posts. We'll waiting for you, like cats waiting for a single sunbeam all throughout winter.

No other day can compete with Saturdays. From sleeping in, to the feeling of freedom that you don't have to set your alarm clock in the morning, to the joy that you can just snuggle your cat all day, it's just the best day.

There's something unique and magical about Saturdays. It's serendipitous; you can plan whatever you want for the day. The day is your oyster, and you're in the best mood. Your cat is enjoying everything too! He hates being home all alone, so when he knows you're there to stay it peeks his mood. The serendipity that lives in the space of Saturday isn't life changing, but suddenly it inspires you to do what you love most: scroll cat memes. Saturdays carry a different kind of energy. It's the kind that feels slower, softer, and full of possibility. And when you pair that with the gentle bloom of spring, you get the perfect setting for a collection of whiskered little beings living their absolute best lives. These 24 Saturday kitties are here to deliver peak springtime whimsy, one soft paw at a time. There's something about cats in spring that feels especially magical. Maybe it's the way they stretch luxuriously in warm patches of sunlight, as if they've personally summoned the season. Or the way they sit by open windows, noses twitching at the breeze, taking in every scent like tiny, curious poets. Cats love basking in sunlight, so bask in this moment of freedom.

21 Purrfectly Posed Pictures of Flexible Feline Yogis

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 10:30
Cats make every yoga pose look easy.

Cats don't follow routines, they just move like this naturally. One second they are sitting still, the next they're in a full stretch that looks like it belongs in a yoga class. Front paws reach forward, back lowers, then lifts into a smooth arch like a clean cat-cow flow. There is no buildup or hesitation. They move when it feels right and land in positions people actually practice.

They take their time with it. A stretch is not rushed or cut short. They lean into it, hold it, shift slightly, then hold it again like they are settling deeper into the pose. It looks simple, but it is controlled in a way that is hard to copy. You might try to follow along, but your downward dog starts slipping while they stay completely purrfectly balanced.

They also tend to do this exactly where you are. Sit on the floor and they will walk straight onto your mat, step across your legs, or pause mid-stretch right in front of you. Suddenly your yoga session turns into theirs. You adjust, they do not, and somehow they end up centered while you are pushed off to the side.

Then they end it in the most casual way possible. One last stretch, a slow tail flick, and they drop straight into a loaf like it is the final pose. No cooldown, no effort showing, just a quiet exit from their own little pawga session.

22 Meowdy Memes of Rootin Tootin Cowboy Cats Running the Range

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 09:45
Saddle up, the house already has a sheriff.

They roll through like they just rode in from a long stretch of open range, paws hitting the floor soft and steady. Every room turns into their territory without a word. The couch is their saloon seat, the windowsill their lookout post, and the kitchen their next stop on the trail. A low tail flick says more than a whole speech ever could. Meowdy, partner. This place is spoken for.

They have that slow, no-rush swagger, like a gunslinger who never needs to prove a thing. A cat will post up, lock eyes, and hold it like a proper standoff. No flinching, no fuss, just a quiet "you sure you wanna be here?" in one long look. Whiskers forward, ears tuned, ready if needed but never overeager. Around here, they call the shots without saying a word.

Every meal turns into a full hunt, even when it is poured into a bowl. They circle, pause, and close in like they tracked it themselves. Then it is done, clean and quick. Another job handled, another story added to the legend. A lone ranger does not rush supper, and neither does a cat with a full day of roaming behind them.

When the day winds down, they settle in like they just tied their horse outside. Right in the middle of everything, right where you were about to sit. No moving them, no negotiating. This is their town, their rules, their little wild west, and you are just passing through.

'[They] have a very unique but precious relationship': Lonely cheetah and kind tortoise become best friends in a conservation foundation, cuddling and eating with one another

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 08:00
Friendship comes in all shapes and sizes, and that is true for animals too. The "strangest" bonds are often the cutest.

We all know that cats have a reputation for being solitary creatures, aloof, not needing anyone. What we don't know is how they gained that reputation. Despite the rumors, cats are incredibly friendly… when they choose to be. It is true that cats are picky about who they become friends with, but that is true for all of us. And just like us, once cats choose someone to be friends with, they bond with that someone incredibly strongly. And it's not just humans or other cats.

Cats bond with other animals all the time - house cats and big cats. We have seen, of course, cats become friends with dogs, despite all of their differences. We have seen a lion bond with a tiny dachshund, to the point that it caused more harm to separate the two than to keep them together. And we could never forget the iconic trio - a lion, a tiger and a bear who became lifelong friends after getting rescued from a criminal's home. They choose their friends carefully and for different reasons, but once they bond, breaking that bond is impawssible.

Oh, yes, a whole workweek is behind us, and we have finally made it to the best day of the week. We think that it has been a stressful time for everyone, not just us, and honestly, that is why we, the ICHC editors, are here every single day, putting together wholesome and silly cat content for you guys. Because we need something good in our lives. Something pawsitive. Something simple. And one thing that always makes us smile, no matter what is happening around us, are cats.

'I watched him not bathe for month': 42-year-old roommate threatens to sell her housemate's cat after he refuses to shower or clean the litter box

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 06:30
We all forget to clean the litter box every once in a while, but refusing to shower on top of that is like asking your roommates to live in a dumpster.

In a purrfect world, we would all be cleaning our cats' litter boxes every day. Even better, we would clean it after every use. But, life gets in the way or you just simply furget, and it gets too full. It smells - there's no way around it. But usually, when you get to that point, you have no choice but to clean it. Purrsonally, we can't stand that smell and are hyperaware of it because we strongly dislike when there is a "cat smell" in our homes. You know the one we're talking about.

Well, imagine that smell + your roommate refusing to bathe themselves. Then imagine being a 42-year-old woman living with that! After not being able to ignore her roommate's "cleanliness issues" anymore, she threatened to sell his fluffy feline if he didn't clean his cat's litter box, clean the bathroom with bleach, and scrub off his odor immediately.

We can handle a bit of smell, but we draw the line at pawsitively unhygienic.

P.S.pspspspspsps:
If you are like us and can't handle the smell of your cat's dirty litter, might we suggest the OneIsAll Ease S1 Self-Cleaning Litter Box, we just did a review of it on our website and it's purrfectly worth every penny. No more cleaning, no more dirty litter, just a sleek, beginner-friendly automatic litter box that is I Can Has Cheezburger? approved!

'I thought I didn’t like cats': The tiniest gray kitten suddenly appeared in a pile of leaves and adopted his wife, changing his mind on cats for good

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 05:45
The only people who say they "don't like cats" are the ones who were never chosen by one. Once you're chosen by one, and you look into their big, loving eyes, you're changed furrever.

To be adopted by a cat is a peculiar thing. One meowment, you're going about your day, the next, a cat is climbing up your pant leg, screaming at you for not noticing it sooner. You scoop up the little baby and realize that you can't just leave it there, that would be horrible! You take it home, promising that you'll only keep it until you can find it a furrever home, and then days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and months into furrever. That cat knew that you were theirs from the moment they saw you, it just took you a little longer to understand.

Everyone, meet Frosty, the kitten that chose a hooman from a pile of leaves, then convinced her "not a cat person" husband that everything he knew about cats was wrong.

27 Cat Clawmedy Memes for a Sassy Saturday

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 04:00
Wouldn't it be great to experience our Saturday as a cat does?

Think of the raw pawtential of going through your entire Saturday, weekend, or any day off like a cat would. Granted, any day is a day off for a cat, but that just means one thing - they're never stressed about "getting everything done" while they're on a "day off". Because every day is a holiday for them, they're never stressed about doing anything, really. Cats are so chill, and this is the level of zen we aspire to get to - with cats as our role models.

But cats are not the calmest animals out there. We have sloths, manatees, and lemurs sunbathing like yoga gurus (seriously, google that, it's mesmerizing). So how do cats stay so chill, despite their not-so-calm moments in like? Well, that, our fellow feline fans, comes from cat sass. You see, when your sass levels are as high as a cat's, you just sass out about the day, and… you just don't care. That's it. Does the day bring you grief? Say something sassy to the universe, and continue on. Much like a sassy cat who would swat anything they don't like, and move on with their life.

/so now that Saturday has arrived, and the weekend is officially here, we can all start treating it like a cat would. That would make this weekend much better. Because cats make everything better - even in their own sassy way.

One woman’s trek through Greece's mountains turns into a life-saving mission after her dog finds two black kittens abandoned where no one was supposed to be looking.

Sat, 05/02/2026 - 03:15
While we're all cat people here, we can't deny how much we appreciate dogs who sniff their way to discovering abandoned kittens.

We all love a good kitten rescue story, but there's a particular set that repeats itself - rarely, but it still does. And we suspect it all has to do with dogs' amazing sense of smell. A dog's sense of smell is estimated to be 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than a human's, making it their primary way of experiencing the world. With up to 300 million scent receptors compared to our 6 million, dogs can detect odors in parts per trillion, often identifying substances, diseases, and people from miles away… and also abandoned kittens, repeatedly.

These two tiny floofs found in the woods wouldn't be the first kittens adopted by a dog, let alone found by one. We're obviously thrilled about the bottom line, of the kittens receiving a forever home they so deserve, but we're also glad for the human-doggo combination that keeps on rescuing kittens in the woods. Yes, it usually happens in the woods - because, sadly, this is where a lot of pets are abandoned, in thinking no one would ever search there. But the people who, cruelly so, abandon their kittens there just don't account for the absolutely magical sense of smell of dogs.

People constantly find cats in random places and then adopt them, mostly thanks to the Cat Distribution System, but it doesn't mean that this is the only way this adoption system works. The CDS employs agents, and some of them happen to be dogs. Not everyone needs to be cat people to save cats - some can be dog people. Apparently, it works just as well.
