This manager was unwilling to respect his employee's designated lunch breaks, so in return, this employee was unwilling to wait until after their meeting to eat.

Many of us have worked in environments where the sometimes unspoken rule is the pressure to stay at one's desk and work through lunch hours. Oftentimes, new hires will take notes from their superiors. If they see that the folks on the team rarely take the lunch break that they're very much entitled to take, then the cycle will likely continue until someone challenges it.

This worker shared his story about what happened when his manager decided to reschedule their daily check-in meetings to take place right at 12:00 pm. Despite numerous attempts to subtly imply that this was not an ideal for him, as the employee was someone who valued his lunch breaks, his manager would not budge. So, the employee decided that he would comply and attend these meetings, but he wasn't exactly going to follow classic meeting decorum.

Instead, he decided to use this time to cook elaborate and sometimes very noisy lunch while remaining unmuted during these meetings. First, it was ramen. Then, it was a salad that required a ton of chopping (yes, he chose this recipe specifically because of the number of vegetables he would need to chop). Finally, he decided to cook a full-on grilled cheese with a small griddle he was gifted by his spouse. His manager wasn't very happy with this, but at the end of the day, he had no one to blame but himself.

Some new homes come with a pool, a garden, or a finished basement, but this house on the market came with its very own feline resident. Residing in the HVAC system, the new homeowners were immediately aware that a feline spirit haunted the house, and they wouldn't have it any other way.

Lions, specifically, are known as the king of the jungle. However, a lion obviously never met the cat overlord I have in my house, demanding wet kibbles at all hours and cursing the laser pointer. Like many a mighty house cat, this lion was rescued by accident, getting discovered by his heroic rescuers by chance. Although cat lovers usually find their kitties in the alley, in a trash can, or under their car at the Walmart parking lot, this adult male lion was discovered at a shady backwoods zoo where they did lab tests on him. 

This lion is a survivor, like all cats, and his story is just as emotional and remarkable. Most people are delighted to get flowers. It's a momentary bright spot in your day that lets you know someone was thinking about you and wanted you to have a beautiful floral arrangement. 

But this guy took kind of an odd approach to sending his sister some flowers, and the resulting meltdown it caused was just so bizarre. 

One warm day in, and cats are already on vacation.

Spring break rolls around and cats immediately clock out. No planning, no packing, just a quiet decision that they are now on vacation. The sun comes out and suddenly every warm spot in the house is fully booked.

They take their lounging seriously. One minute it's the window, the next it's a patch of sunlight on the floor, then somehow your spot becomes the best one in the house. A quick stretch, a turn, and that place is officially claimed. If it's warm, it's theirs.

There's a little light activity in between. Bird watching becomes a full event, plants get inspected a little too closely, and anything new in the room deserves at least a few seconds of attention. Nothing too demanding, just enough to break up the schedule.

Most of the day, though, is dedicated to naps. Long, uninterrupted, purrfectly timed naps. Wake up, stretch, shift slightly, and go right back to it. No rush, no pressure, just full commitment to relaxing.

How can you tell that the company you're interviewing for actually cares about its employees?

It can be tricky, finding ways to glean into a company's culture while you're in the hiring process. It's not like you can ask how they treat their employees, because obviously, they will never tell you if they treat them badly. And most companies don't really let current employees talk to potential hires. 

This means that job candidates have to be smart about how they can find out if the workplace they are interviewing for is worth their time. You have to ask the right questions, know what benefits are a must, and what it means to you when a company refuses to provide something.

The job candidate below, for example, recognised a few signs in their hiring process that pointed to a company that doesn't really care about its employees. First, the hiring process itself was a red flag, since the workplace insisted on doing a group interview with other candidates, which is not a good indication of how attentive the company is to its workers.

But the real reason why this candidate decided to withdraw their application was because of something that happened during the group interview. When the hiring manager asked if anyone had any questions, this candidate decided to inquire about the health insurance for the employees, and to their surprise, they were told that the only employees who are eligible for health insurance are branch managers, meaning only four employees in the whole company.

This was an immediate sign for this job candidate that the company doesn't value its employees. If they refuse to provide something as basic as health insurance to all their workers, they obviously don't care about their health. And this candidate has no interest in working for a workplace like that.

We all want to have time, money, and energy to accomplish all of our dreams, and ususally, you get to pick 1 or 2 of those things. You can work a lot and have a ton of money, but no time or energy to spend all that cash. If you do have the time to travel, you might not have enough money to go on a lavish trip. 

And for this person, all they really wanted to do was ensure that their kids had a bright future ahead of them. 

This cat didn't order a pizza, but she did order a new life.

Sometimes a normal shift turns into something way bigger. While out delivering pizzas right before Christmas, this driver pulled up to a house and was immediately greeted by the sweetest cat, who ran right up and hopped into the car like she'd done it before. It seemed like she must belong to someone nearby, but after asking, it turned out she had been left behind when the previous neighbors moved out.

She'd been living outside ever since, with people around feeding her when they could, but no real home. Friendly, healthy, and clearly used to people, she just didn't have anyone anymore.

So instead of leaving her there, the driver took her home.

A vet visit confirmed she was doing well, just a little matted from being outside, and from there it was a full reset. No more street life, no more uncertainty, just a warm, safe place to land.

The only conclusion we can come to is that the CDS knew that this hooman deserved a lot of love but that they were not going to get what they so deserved for Valentine's day and so they stepped in to help.

As for the young woman, let's take a moment to appreciate all that she is juggling while still being a student. First of all, it goes without saying that the vast majority of students do not have enough time on their hands to work full-time jobs while pursuing their studies. 

Students who work deserve credit for taking on more responsibility than their classmates. They have to manage their class and work schedules while carving out some precious study time for themselves. Trying to squeeze in a robust social life on top of that makes it nearly impossible to balance, but so many students find a way to make it work.

The fact that this woman was babysitting her older brother's kids nearly every week for free, only to receive criticism from him for not getting a real job, only goes to show how much unnecessary pressure we put on student workers. They don't need unsolicited advice. They need support and understanding, especially from family members. 

Bzzzz! Cats get their excitement from making you stay up all night, so be prepared. 

Midnight zoomies - as cat pawrents we are way too familiar with this nightly ritual we didn't consent to. They sleep all day so that they can zoom around the house when we're trying to get our beauty sleep. It's not respectful, but who said cats were respectful? They're chock full of unhinged, wild, wily, untamed behavior, but that's also why we love them. Being sleep deprived from cats feels a lot better than sleep deprived from anything else. When you're sleep deprived you're not yourself. You waver in and out of being, you wonder what's even happening around you, but you do what you need to do anyway. 

Despite a cat's chaotic temperament, we love them all the same, and keep them all the same. Their midnight zoomies don't affect us too much, and we still manage our lives. The benefits of having a cat greatly outweigh the negatives, and that's saying something since we all love and need our sleep. But here's to our chaotic, unhinged kitties simply being themselves at all hours of the night. These nightly, unhinged cats having zoomies will be the best thing you see today.
