From petty revenge to silly revenge

I don't think this revenge went as well as this Redditor thinks it did, but as I always say: The revenge is for the avenger's pleasure, nothing more. We should always remember to keep it silly so we don't hurt anybody. Either way, this avenger reestablished the balance of the universe by doing this, and we're all very proud of him. Plus, who wouldn't have liked to do such a thing during middle school? I kinda wish I could go back and do as many silly revenges as I can. One, ideally, has to move on to life's next stage clean from any old grudges.

Raising a shared garden bed with your neighbor requires cooperation, clear property boundaries, and choosing plants that know where they are supposed to grow. Well, mints respect none of those things. Every gardener knows that. That's why the mints are the center of a neighbor dispute in today's story.

Three years ago, two neighbors purchased a raised garden box positioned between their townhouses and divided it evenly. The arrangement worked until now, when one of them planted mint on her side. Before she did it, her neighbor carefully warned that the herb needed to remain inside a pot because it would most probably invade her tomatoes and peppers growing across the dividing line. But do you think the other gardener cared about this? Nope, she dismissed her warning, convinced that the mint had to go into the soil to grow nicely. 

The consequences did not appear overnight, but they eventually came. Shoots began emerging between the vegetables. Pulling them out was just a temporary solution, because more mint kept traveling through the soil until an entire section previously occupied by peppers had been replaced. The neighbor insists that the mint brings plenty of benefits, like attracting bees. Even though that may be a positive quality, the mint still is not helping to restore the vegetables the other woman lost. 

Her best idea to solve this gardening dispute was to wait until her neighbor was away and pull out as much mint as possible, including the plants that were on the other side, and finally install a plastic barrier in the middle of the garden bed. Now, removing plants from the other section is crossing a boundary, but this neighbor had always refused to plant the mint, and when it consumed her garden, it became everybody's problem. She has been warned, and despite the warning, she planted it anyway. Now, she'll have to deal with the consequences.

The infamous dating pool

If dating is hard, I can't imagine how hard finding a husband is. I tend to think these sorts of problems arise from the approach we're taking to dating and not from the dating pool itself. She says some interesting things about her and her relationship with the internet; she says she loves video games, Reddit, CDs. To me, that sounds like a very interesting person; I get the feeling she is looking for dates in the wrong places. I always say this to one of my single friends who's always actively looking for dates (don't get me wrong, I'm also single myself, I'm just not looking for dates right now). She gets very frustrated when THE ACCOUNTANT SHE MET ON TINDER doesn't understand her interest in Dostoyevsky, and I'm like: He's an accountant from Tinder. What I mean is this: I tend to believe you shouldn't look for love or dates. I believe you should look for activities that you love, and you will eventually meet people to love there. To me, this is as clear as it gets. Finding love on Tinder is like finding love backwards. You have a free position in your life, and somebody comes to fill it, and you pick from an array of characteristics. That's just not how love works; in love, you meet somebody you like first, and only afterwards you make a space for them in your life; that's it. At least that's how I think about it: you go at it from a place of lack, or you go at it from a place of genuine desire. I understand different people have different social skills and backgrounds, though, but that would still be my advice to her if she were my friend…

It takes all sorts

It seems like bosses don't even care to pretend that they are nice and friendly anymore. Once you sign the contract, they start acting crazy and inventing all sorts of demands as if you couldn't turn around, resign, and walk away. Honestly, what they do is up to them, because they're ruining their own chances of creating a good work environment or healthy work relationships. That said, this employee now must face a very awkward decision because he had already resigned from his previous job and arranged a notice period. If he resigns from his new job now, he will be left with nothing, and I don't think that's a cost anyone is willing to pay for a decision. Call me exaggerated, but I do think the new boss has already shown his true colours, and those are: pushy, demanding and entitled. It's possible that it just dawned on this employee that his new job won't be as amazing as he thought, and that he now has to pick himself up and try to find another one as soon as possible. We all know that, in this economy, that's a task comparable to The Odyssey. Something like this happened to a friend recently, and she was only able to survive it without losing her mind on the process because she already had another job; this happened when she was looking for a second one. A company hired her, saying her responsibilities were such and such, then it turned out they weren't those, and that the boss was trying to manipulate her into doing something else. I know it all sounds very intricate and unnecessary; that's because it was. There really was no need to manipulate her into doing something else; other people would've been glad to do that job if the responsibilities were clear from the start. All this is to say that we should try to protect ourselves from these crazy anecdotes and try to secure jobs without these kinds of issues. 

If you do something wrong and someone calls you out, don't defend your position. You are wrong, and you know it. That's not going to change. Deal with it!

Being wrong is one thing, but defending that you aren't when you fully know that you are. That is just crazy. Some people need to learn to accept that they can't always be right about everything. Sometimes we are wrong, fully and completely wrong, and it's fine. Nothing bad happened from that. It happens. The real problem is how we react to being called out for being incorrect about something. That shows someone's real character and manners.

When you do something wrong, no matter what excuse you have, as it's littering in the story below, you can't pretend that it isn't when you get called out. You knew it was wrong from the moment you did it. Reacting badly or defensively means that you are an entitled person. If you are normal, you would just say 'I'm sorry' and try to fix it. Not start an argument with an elderly man like the crazy lady in this story. That is just simple escalating everything so much for no reason.

I fully understand why the boyfriend, given the situation, broke up with this woman. She was making a scene and going too far over something she knew she was in the wrong. This man just saw the whole situation happen in front of his eyes and realized that the relationship could not continue any longer. It was over from the moment she started responding in a bad tone to an elder man who was just telling her that throwing trash into the street is terribly wrong. And the worst thing is she knows it's wrong. She was just so entitled she could not understand that someone would call her out and make her pick it up. The fact that this boyfriend is being misunderstood instead of praised for standing up for himself is incredible. She did something wrong and then reacted even worse when called out. Who does that? There is no reason to do all that. She made a small thing a thousand times worse, not him. 
 

Hugging a cat is one of the best feelings in the world. 

Every cat owner knows that cuddling with your cat is one of life's greatest privileges. It just is. No matter how many times it happens, you are thankful for it. You just don't take something like that for granted. Cats don't show physical affection like that to just anyone. 11 years into cat ownership, still, whenever my cat comes to me of her own volition and lies in my lap or cuddles with me in bed, it's amazing. Hearing her purr heals every other bad thing that might have happened to me throughout the day. Because I know how special it is. Every cat owner does. For a cat to choose you and show you that they love you in a language that they know you will understand. 

As for today's affectionate kitty, clearly he chose his person from the first moment. One act of kindness was all it took. He was a stray, he was cold, he was hungry, and out of nowhere, a person came to him and gave him the warmth, food and love that he was missing. And now, he repays this person. Every single day, this cat comes to this man's shop and gives him a hug. 

Social media offers people a place to have an open conversation about marriage, parenting, and household dynamics. But TikTok videos can become a serious privacy issue when a wife secretly builds an audience by humiliating her husband. If he can be recognized in public with a face and a real name, then the videos are no longer harmless or "just for fun". It's a public humiliation that no good spouse would deserve to go through ever.

In today's story, a man discovers that his 40-year-old stepsister has an account centered on complaints about her husband. In the videos, she portrays herself as an exhausted stay-at-home wife who handles the children and cleans the house without receiving any help when her husband returns from work. According to the stepbrother, that's not actually true. Their children, ages 11 and 14, attend before- and after-school programs until their father picks them up. Meanwhile, the stepsister's mother visits twice each week to clean. 

Initially, he wanted to stay out of it. The account remained anonymous, and he didn't want to involve himself in another couple's marriage. So he allowed the content to continue without alerting his brother-in-law. Until something in the account changed. His stepsister began using her husband's real name and uploading real pictures of him while complaining publicly about their marriage and mocking him. At that point, her husband was no longer an anonymous character. In fact, he had become an identifiable target who didn't know thousands of strangers were discussing him. 

That was when the stepbrother reached his limit. He couldn't help but send the husband a link to the TikTok account and apologize for waiting too long to do it. Now, the spouses are not speaking to each other. The extended family is divided over whether sharing the account had been justified, and the stepsister must be mad at him. Blaming the messenger feels easier than confronting what she did with those videos. The stepbrother only gave the husband the possibility to see what was being publicly published about him. Sooner or later, he would have found out. But the wife must take responsibility for the seriousness of the things she did. She could have discussed her frustrations with a therapist, with friends, or even better, with her husband. It's really disrespectful that she exposed him like that without his consent, and they'll have to figure out how things are going to be from now on. The husband is upset, and he has every right to feel like that. An apology is not even enough. 

Angry coworkers stay away from us

Working is already hard enough; we don't need angry coworkers on top of it. Imagine being so impatient and entitled that you yell at someone for not understanding how to properly do a job ON THEIR FIRST DAY. When I clicked on this story, I was like, how can you be so weak as to resign after just one day? But then I completely changed my mind: JUST QUIT ASAP, lol. It makes me sad to think these jobs end up being taken by someone who's desperate enough to endure them; that's why I kinda think there should be something else one could do on top of resigning, but sometimes nothing you do can help. Either way, let's follow this Redditor on his amazing journey.

Tuesday: the liminal space between tranquility and torment.

Gone are the days of childlike wonder, of noncommittal internal monologues based on having no responsibilities, no consequences, and no clocks. No clocks to wake up, go to work, or anything else. The joy of being carefree and unobligated to anyone or anything else is something we only get for a smidge of our lives. There's no rush when you're a kid, you don't need to think about Monday morning work, or paying rent, or the state of the world. Sundays have a way of putting us in that existential crisis, that mode where we are forced to deliberate whether we would rather be a carefree but mindless kid, or deal with all the things adults have to. Once, Tuesday meant cartoons, soft clothes, the smell of something baking, and the luxurious boredom that came from having nowhere to be. Time felt padded, forgiving. Now it feels thin—translucent—like something you might accidentally tear just by thinking too hard about Monday.

This pendulum swing between childhood and adulthood is exactly why we sometimes wish to be a cat. They're soft, floofy, adorable, and they don't have to get up for work Monday morning. Have you ever felt the cold sting of resentment and jealousy as you see your cat bundled up in your bed right before leaving the house for work? Yeah, you're on the verge of collapse, but your cat is happy as a clam. Yet, there is still tenderness here. In the quiet moments. In the softness of pajamas worn all day. In the choice to do nothing, even briefly, as an act of resistance. Sunday holds space for grief over lost ease, but also for small comforts that make the waiting bearable. It is neither ending nor beginning, but the fragile bridge between them. A pause filled with both calm and ache. And maybe the task of Sunday isn't to solve anything at all—just to exist gently in that in-between, until the world asks us to move again.

Despite Tuesday fatigue, or jealousy that our cats don't have to work, there's a time when we can just relax and do something for ourselves to take the edge off, and that's scrolling cat memes. Enjoy!

Neighbors may ask you for a favor once in a while, but when they do, it's typically something within public access. It doesn't involve getting inside your house. Well, this neighbor needed access to the roof and felt entitled to ask the apartment's top-floor resident to enter her house to look for his lost drone.

Residential privacy matters more than recovering a birthday drone, don't you think? Especially when the resident has already tried to help. The woman looked for the drone, didn't see anything, and that's the end of the story. Neighbors can't keep insisting on letting them into the flat to look for the drone. 

It all began when the neighbor's son crashed his new birthday drone onto an apartment building's roof, but nobody could see exactly where it landed. Then, his parents approached the woman living in the upstairs flat and asked whether they could access the roof through her apartment. That's a big no-no. You don't know who these people are, so why would you let them inside your flat and inside your house? Reasonably, she refused to let strangers in her house.

What's more, the resident had already checked several windows on multiple days and could not see the drone. She explained that to the neighbors, only to be chased down by them on the street almost two weeks later. This time, rather than accepting her answer, neighbors attempted to negotiate. They insisted that the search would only take two minutes… As if a shorter invasion of privacy would be any less invasive. 

The woman stood her ground. She was protecting her privacy and her safety. The neighbors have other ways to solve the problem. They can contact building management, hire an appropriate professional, or at least approach the other top-floor resident if they want to have another try. What they can't do is pressure a woman into surrendering access to her home because their son lost a drone. 

Teenage boys are hard to deal with whether they're human, cat, or something else! 

It's never easy to manage having many cats, and especially when they're all so different. It's no secret that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, but does it translate to cats as well? It might be apparent from your own experiences with animals, but sometimes they're more like us than we think. Take it from the couple who rescued this teenage stray back in April. He didn't want to be rescued and was quite resilient, but they did end up getting him into their home. He started out quiet, and then he became quite vocal. They realized that he needed to go to the vet, and then the rest got better. Teenage boys will be boys, whether they're cats, dogs, or humans. The couple has 3 adult female cats, and so they wanted to give everyone lots of time to get used to one another. After his recovery from the vet, he joined the sisters for fun time. He wasn't the quickest to learn, but he's come a long way. Now he loves and idolizes his older sisters, but he has mixed feelings as he's still learning to respect boundaries. He's learned about being a housecat from them and picked up some of their behaviors. 

Now that he's pretty immersed in the family, he quite enjoys his life of luxury, delicious snacks, fun toys, and comfy sleeping spots that aren't like the outdoors. He even loves bread! Read the full wholesome story below. 

Years of careful work can disappear in a single afternoon…

Minnesota couple says all that effort was undone when a neighbor allegedly crossed onto their property, dismantled their handcrafted hedge, crushed more than 20 young willow trees, and cleared part of their woods with heavy equipment. Now they're wondering what legal options they have after years of work were wiped out in what they believe was an act of blatant trespassing.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read this story. It's crazy to me how some people can feel entitled to do whatever they want, without raising a question or even hesitating about whether the call is the right one. And the worst part is that now the property is not secured and hidden, so there is no privacy, and everyone can stare through the windows, making the homeowners unsafe.

I would definitely take this matter into my own hands and start filing a police report. There's no way that I would let this "slip," and I would demand them for the full reimbursement for their damages and ask them to replant all the trees and every plant that was a part of the natural fence. Trespassing and damaging your neighbor's property is illegal in every state, so they should do something about this and find a solution as soon as possible.

Also, for the future, the best thing they can do is to have a bigger fence with those neighbors, and although natural fences look good and are safe, a stiffer and stronger one can be the solution to keep them apart and as far away as possible. Respecting each property boundary is fundamental, as well as having a good relationship with the neighbors. That being said, if there's a case where nobody respects the other, filing a report is the way to go.

Before adopting a new kitten, there is only one creature you need to ask for permission - your cat. 

Being chosen by a kitten feels like one of life's most blessed moments. So pure. So wholesome. So adorable. And if you are a cat person already, then it feels like the biggest gift a universe can give you. A kitten. Oh, our phones would be full to the brim with pictures almost instantly. We would not hesitate to adopt that kitten. Except that's not exactly accurate. We would not hesitate to adopt that kitten, but our cats… well, they might have something to say about it. 

Everyone knows cats rule the household. That's a simple fact. Inarguable. You may be paying the rent for the apartment, but it's not the apartment's legal owner that's letting you live there. No, it's your cat giving you purrmission to live in their space. Without their permission, that apartment wouldn't work. And they don't ask for much. They ask you for food, for the occasional petting session, for their litterboxes to be cleaned, and, of course, for you to not bring home random kittens. They did not sign up for that. You should have made sure with them first. At least the owner in this video knew that. 

There is no arguing with the fact that this kitten chose her. That's just a fact. The kitten was literally waiting for her to come back home from her flight on the steps in front of her house. The kitten wasn't leaving. The kitten wasn't scared. She was just there, ready to be adopted into her new home. The kitten, of course, knew that this was, in fact, her home, so she knew that she would get along with the other cat inside without a problem. But the cat didn't know that, the cat wasn't ready for that, and the cat made his displeasure known. For a while. Until he caved too. Because no one, not even another cat, can withstand the cuteness that is an itty bitty kitty. In no time at all, they were all one loving family. 

Oh, mothers-in-law

Not for nothing, mothers-in-law have been depicted as evil witches throughout history, in every art form possible. Hold on, I'm not saying they are actually evil; I'm saying the relationship between a mother and her son's significant other is always potentially rocky, because mothers tend to want the best and only the best for them, and get very defensive when they perceive the slightest 'red flag'. This daughter-in-law shared her story, wondering if she is overreacting or not, and I have mixed opinions, but let's see what you think.

Every cat acts like they've never seen a full food bowl in their entire life.

If cats could write grocery lists, it would contain one item: more food. It doesn't matter if breakfast ended two minutes ago or they just walked away from a completely empty bowl. The second someone heads toward the kitchen, they're convinced another meal is on the menu. Out come the dramatic meows, the figure eights around your ankles, and the wide-eyed expressions that make you question whether you've accidentally forgotten to feed them for the past week.

Every cat has its own way of asking for another helping. Some sit quietly by the food bowl and stare into your soul until you crack. Others follow you from room to room like furry little food inspectors making sure you haven't hidden the treats somewhere. A few don't even bother being subtle. They'll march right up to the pantry and let you know exactly what they're after.

The real talent is how convincing they are. You watch them finish every bite, lick the bowl until it sparkles, and wander off looking perfectly content. Somehow, a few minutes later, they're back with the same determined expression, ready to launch another round of purrsuasion. If you didn't witness the first meal yourself, you'd probably believe they'd been skipped entirely.

Most cat people know how this story ends. You tell yourself you're not giving in this time. Then your cat lets out one tiny meow, gives your leg a gentle head bump, and suddenly you're scooping out "just a little more." They may act like they're always one meal away from starvation, but we all know they're really just experts at wrapping their humans around their tiny little paws.

Sometimes the problem is you… Let's deal with it.

We are so used to seeing people talking badly or poorly about themselves that when someone is overly confident, we strike it as weird. Having confidence is not a bad thing at all, is necessary. If you don't believe in yourself, who will? But being overly confident can seem more like egocentrism instead of self-assurance. And, unfortunately, I think that is the case in this Reddit story.

We have an employee who calls himself a 'core employee' because he has been working at this small business for 13 years, but that is not something he gets called by other people. Is something he self-denominated himself with. That is not a good sign. Also, we hear that a lot of people have entered this business and left, and that always causes problems with the manager, who really tries to maintain employees. But when this user gave his two weeks' notice, he just accepted it. To have a core employee who worked for a business for 13 years leave is not something any manager wants, unless… And here is where my theories start.

One possibility could be that the other employees resigned due to conflicts in the workspace or with other coworkers, and this employee was one of the reasons. A more positive option could be that he has already worked there so long that they can't ask him to stay any longer. Another option could be that due to his longevity in the job, his pay had gone too high and it was becoming difficult for the business to continue paying him that much. And the prospect theory, I think, is the most likely. He wasn't a core employee. He spent 13 years in the business, but he didn't do a great job. He was just there, providing no real value to the company, but he wasn't that bad to actually fire him. But now that he's leaving, they can hire somebody who is more prepared for the job and who can actually make a difference in a decade of work.

Whatever the reason is, I'm sorry for this employee. But it's a good thing that he's leaving and looking to work somewhere he could be more valued. Let's hope that his coworkers react differently from the manager and actually react sadly to him leaving. Anyway, his path continues somewhere else, and that is the important thing. 
 

We all lean on our parents, even as adults, but there are limits to where and when it is appropriate to have your mommy or daddy at your side, holding your hand.

If I could, I would truly have my mom beside me at every difficult thing I have to face. She would be there at doctors' appointments, in meetings at the bank, and sitting right there beside me every day at work. She gives me comfort, and she is genuinely the smartest person alive, so she can handle any situation thrown my way.

Unfortunately, I am a 28-year-old adult, and as much as I would love to have my mom helping me through the struggles of adulthood, I also know that it would have been insane if she were. I can't grow up and learn how to navigate through life if I lean on my mom every time there is a struggle coming my way. If I ever want to become a mom myself, that is the way things must go. 

So, instead of having my mom right there with me, I do what most normal adults do and call her at the end of every day to vent about my life and hear what she has to say. She still helps, I still learn, and people don't look at me like I'm crazy for dragging my mom with me everywhere I go.

The fact that the 33-year-old employee here wants to invite her mom to the meeting that will determine her fate in the company is as crazy as it sounds. She knows that she will probably get fired during that meeting, and she has been postponing it as much as possible by refusing to attend any meeting her manager keeps scheduling. Eventually, she had to agree to one, and since the company offers the option of bringing a "support person" to difficult meetings like these, this employee decided to bring her mom.

What is her mom going to do about her being terrible at her job? We'll wait and see…
