Ex-feral cat who doesn't know how to cat and senior ex-fighting dog who hates cats get adopted by the same person and build an unlikely but beautiful friendship: 'They're both odd, and have had a wild ride to get here, but look how friggin cute they are.'
Opposites attract. That is what people say. And maybe that is why, despite the fact that cats and dogs are so, so different, they sometimes end up becoming best friends. Cats will bond with the dogs they grew up with. Dogs will bond with cats who are patient and open. There are enough differences for them to overcome in normal circumstances.
In today's story, there was a lot more for these animals to overcome. The dog came from a complicated background and hates cats. The cat doesn't quite understand how to act like a cat, how to purr, how to show affection in ways that normal cats do. And yet, the two of them became best friends. How? We don't quite know. They just got adopted by the same person and somehow became each other's safe and comfort.
Family hears kitten meowing from their roof, they wait for cat mom to return, then rescue the kitten after realizing she's all alone up there: ‘She stayed persistent’
If there is one thing we absolutely cannot ignore, it is the sound of a cat meowing in distress. It doesn't matter where we are, which way we were headed, or whether or not we were in a hurry; if we hear a cat meowing loudly, we will find the sweet baby and make sure it is alright.
This rule has led us into back alleys, into trash cans, and underneath cars, and every single time, there was a sweet cat that needed our help, and we were ready to provide it. We have gotten stray cats out of truly messy situations simply because we listen to their cry for help, and we will continue to do so as long as we can. It takes five minutes out of our day, while it can save the furry feline's life.
When the family in the story below heard the cry for help of a kitten in their house, they weren't sure where it was coming from in the beginning. It took them a while to figure out that the meowing was coming from the roof, but they still had hopes that the kitten that was making that distress signal was not alone and that its mom would come help soon.
It wasn't long before they realized that the meowing kitten was alone, and that they were the only ones who could help it off the roof and back to safety. Together, they climbed on top of their home, got the kitten off the roof, and brought her back to solid ground. Luckily, this lovely family was not ready to say goodbye to the tiny kitten, as they could tell she still needed help and support. They gave her a shower, dried her off, and named her 'Roof' in their native language.
The happy and content kitten now has a loving family, and the pictures below prove just how grateful she is that they heard her when she initially called them for help. Keep scrolling for the full story and awwdorable pictures.
23 Happy Kitten Memes to Meownifest a Spectacular Mew'd (April 6, 2026)
Summoned by the mews of a lost kitten under a bush, cat lovers are hypnotized into hero mode, throwing away their inhibitions and chucking wisdom out the window. All that matters in that meowment is the adorable little life curled up like a tiny cinnamon roll who needs a pawrent to love them and hand-feed them formula every 2 hours on the dot. See? Whoever said that raising a kitten from their shrimp era to full-on cathood would be easy? Nobody. But is it absolutely worth it? Ask the adorable orange cat in your lap or the spoiled tuxedo kitten across the hall…
No matter the cost to their sleep or their sanity, kittens are always worth the extra effort.
Like tiny survivalists, kittens will always defy the odds and come through stronger than ever. Despite their pathetically smol meows and their overinflated noggins, kittens are chock full of survival instinct they can never deny. Alas, the kitten may be the tiniest of critters forlorn in the wilderness, but they're the heartiest and the most likely to change the lives of every hooman heart they touch.
When chosen by the Cat Distribution System to be the sole guardian of a kitten, cat lovers are uplifted, and their souls bond immediately to the little nugget. Cats have that funny way of binding to their humans and forever changing the way they see the world. For if a creature so smol and so mighty could still learn to trust the bipedal beasts of this world, purrhaps so can we.
Alas, with nothing but a milk mustache and a breathy mew, kittens steal the hearts of cat lovers every day.
Smol, cute, and forever demanding another round of dinner, cats will bite our ankles and break our favorite mugs, but they will always be revered as the angels who saved their hoomans. Because, despite the meows for late-night snacks and the laser pointer misfires, cats always want the best for their human companions, just as we do for them.
"Car person" realizes that their neighbor's cat might be damaging their car
Cats have a particular worldview: what's theirs is theirs, and what's yours is also theirs.
Every cat thinks they are the finest cat ever created, and everyone else is a peasant who should be pleased to be in the cat's presence.
This is an excellent quality for cats to have, and it's cute to see which items and places they claim as their own.
For example, maybe they really love sleeping on a bookshelf, and will knock down all your books in order to do so. They don't care that the books are your property, or that you want the books in that spot. The cat's needs come first!
28-year-old bears witness to bitter neighborly dispute over unassigned parking spots: '[This woman] started setting up chairs in front of the parking spaces and would just sit there until a spot would open up'
This 28-year-old recently moved into an apartment complex where tenants were granted parking spots but none of them were assigned. Naturally, some spots were more desirable than others, which inevitably led to conflict. Since property management refused to take part in helping mitigate any tension by assigning parking spots to residents, some tenants began battling it out for the three best parking spots just so they would not have to park their cars 60 more steps away.
It turns out that it's remarkable how much time and energy tenants will expend in order to avoid having to park in a slightly less ideal spot. One would think that the amount of wasted anxiety, stress, and action over these three so-called "perfect" spots could have been used toward a better cause. In fact, these two neighbors in particular probably spent way more time and energy competing with one another than they would have to park in the other unassigned spots.
21 Funny Memes of Felines Fed Up With the Meowning
Cats are not morning people, and they make that very clear. Early hours are not for purrductivity. They're for pretending the world doesn't exist. If a cat is up, it's not because they want to be, it's because something interrupted their carefully scheduled nap cycle. You might be ready to start your day, but they're still fully committed to snooze mode.
The morning routine looks very different for them. Slow stretches, half-open eyes, and a general refusal to participate. You'll get a look that says this is not purrsonal. It's just too early. They move like everything is optional, taking their time, no rush, no concern for whatever you've got going on.
Even when they do get up, it's not exactly high energy. More of a soft launch into the day. A few steps, maybe a yawn, then right back to finding a new place to nap. It's less rise and shine and more rest and recline. The vibe stays firmly on the sleepy side.
By the time they're actually ready to function, you've already been awake for hours. They operate on their own schedule, and mornings just don't make the cut. For cats, the day really starts whenever they decide it does.
New neighbor demands resident replace their 2-year-old fence because it doesn't match his deck, resident refuses: ‘I cannot afford to replace a new fence’
The new neighbor in the story below really wants the fence between his house and the resident's next door to match the rest of the style around his home. Despite there already being a fence in place between the two houses, one that was built only two years ago, this new neighbor thought it was appropriate to demand its replacement with something that would match his own fence better.
The resident who built this fence wants to have a good relationship with their neighbors, and they want to avoid any possible strains, but paying for a brand new fence when there is nothing wrong with the current one is not something they can afford. So even if they wanted to make their new neighbor happy, they are not going to pay $1500 to make it happen.
'I don't want a third cat': A rescue kitten meant to stay in the garage while he recovered slowly worked his way inside, won over the husband who said no, and became a forever member of the family
Mr. Bingley came in as a rescue and somehow fit right in almost immediately. Just a week ago, he was tucked away in the garage, underweight and needing a little time to recover. It was meant to be temporary, just a safe place while he healed. But even then, it was obvious he wasn't going to stay just a rescue for long.
The biggest holdout was the husband. He was clear from the start. He didn't want a third cat. But then things started to change. First it was checking on Bingley in the garage. Then a treat here and there. Then asking how he was doing. By the time Bingley came inside, the decision had already been made without being said. Now he's fully attached, giving him kisses and acting like he was always part of the plan.
The rest of the house fell into place just as easily. The resident cats accepted him and the toddler jumped right in too, already playing with him like he's been there forever. It all went smooth for the new cat, especially one who just came in off the street.
The vet visit confirmed he's on the right track. A little underweight, a small cold, but otherwise healthy and improving. In a week, he went from a rescue in the garage to a cat that fits perfectly into the family, like he was always meant to land there.
Homeowner awoken at 6 am to their entitled neighbor demanding that they shovel their shared portion of the driveway despite the driveway being mostly cleared and not even their responsibility: 'He was furious because it had snowed overnight'
Shakespeare loved to include how natural phenomena were reflective of real issues and malcontent in the people. And I think this holds true. Most certainly, it does always seem like wild weather brings out the most wild nature in us.
There's something about a snowstorm that really just sends people over the edge, the unpredictability of it all, one second you're driving in a straight line and the next your car is sliding uncontrollably off the road. And that wet, damp weight of the snow just makes life feel somehow… heavier? Especially when you have a job to get to to make ends meet.
A lot of people are operating at the end of their rope, and it doesn't take much for them to lose hold. Sometimes people just need someone to blame too, and if you might find yourself on the receiving end of blame that isn't yours to shoulder, but has nowhere else to go.
Handsome and fluffy cat shows up to family starving and terrified, they refuse to let him continue his life on the streets and add him to their dog and cat family: 'Sir George is fitting in more and more'
Sir George showed up at their home in September. He was terrified and starving, and they trapped him at the end of November. They had him TNR'd, but a few weeks after that he started randomly showing up with the need for headbutts and pets. They took him inside on Christmas (a Christmas miracle!), and they found that he needs more medical attention. Seeing that it was the holidays they decided to actually take him in furrever, as well as after doing some research. They couldn't handle the thought they he'd be put down, so that made the bravest decision of all.
He's obsessed with food, and won't stop eating! It's purrfect, since he was starving and needed to gain weight. He always wants to play and interact. He used to flinch when they tried to pet him, but he's getting better at accepting their love and not being worried. He had a hard life, but now he can be at ease in this big family of other cats and dogs. The full story is below, and at I Can Has Cheezburger we're always full supporters of kitty rescue missions.

It is funny, it's kinda like chocolate. Everyone loves some plain chocolate. It is sweet, comforting and decadent. But after enough time you look at that piece of chocolate and say hey, this is kinda boring. I want some sprinkles on this to make it exciting again. Well, that is essentially what we have done here, but with cats. Sure, we all love looking at cats, cute cats, clawminal cats, sleeping cats, they all get our motor purring.
But sometimes we need to be reminded of why we love these cats, so that our cat connection does not run stale. And so we are proud to present you with this collection of cats in which their pawrents share the sweet and special things that they do that make them fall head over heels for their fluffy cat children. Divorced homeowner discovers her retired neighbor is introducing himself to her contractors as a co-owner and making decisions about her house renovation, then acts insulted when she finally tells him to stop
Sick 19 year old dumped cat the shelter had given up on, adopted by shelter volunteer after falling in love with the feline’s sassy meows, new cat mom says: He’s made my life a lot happier, and I feel fulfilled by his presence.’
It is never easy trying to find a home for an older cat. It is a hard sell to tell potential pawrents that they will be going for regular check ups at the vet and that their life will revolve around the wellbeing of an aging and somewhat sickly cat. Especially when there are abundant amounts of cute kittens with no health issues ready and waiting for a loving home.
But these older cats that find themselves homeless are in need of a safe space far more than their kitten competitors, and after a life devoted to the family who had to let them go you would think that there would be more people in the world who are sympathetic to their plight. Thankfully, the shelter volunteer who took on this cat was incredibly sympathetic and took home one of the sweetest senior felines we have ever heard about. Giving him a life of love, light and laughter until his last day.

A Monday Meowrning Marvel of Wholesome Mousers to Start Your Week the Feline Way
To cats, every day is a good day. Why? Because every day they wake up and are served whatever they want on a silver platter. All they have to do is annoy us enough (we love it) until we run out of patience, and then they'll get their food, their purrfect spot on the couch, or whatever else their tiny little hearts desire. And even when they are at their most annoying, as in, shredding-all-the-toilet-paper-annoying, we still can't resist their cute faces. A few meows, some head bonks, and we're already kissing and forgiving them.
So if cats can get away with being absolute menaces to our lives and still get through Monday without a scratch, then so can we. We just have to treat everything we do like a cat would, meaning that we do whatever we want, then we turn on the puppy dog eyes and the charm until they forgive us. And if none of that works, just ignore everyone until they furget about the problem and move on. You might have to wait it out a few days, but hoomans are purrfectly forgetful creatures. You'll be in the clear in no time.
This is all easier said than done, so we gathered a few wholesome mousers below to help you deal with this Monday meowrning the feline way. These hilarious memes are the cattest of cat, straight from the souls of feline fans. And if all else fails, just go hide for a few hours until everyone gets worried they can't find you, then magically show up and everyone will just be happy you're okay. It works for our cats every single time.
U.K. landowner denied right to build a home on his inherited land because the neighbors treat the area as a private park: 'I have applied for planning permission three times now'
Originally from Northern Ireland, the first-time landowner was planning on renewing the construction plans that his recently deceased parent was hoping to finish before his passing. Those permission plans, which had been previously granted by the township, had expired in 2023.
Since then, the landowner has attempted to request permission to build property on his own rightful land, but each time, that request was denied. At first, he assumed that the reasoning was the ambitious nature of what he was proposing. So, he adjusted his proposal of building three homes on the property to two homes. That request was denied outright as well. Naturally, the landowner submitted a third request to build just one home on this land, to no avail.
It turns out that the reason had nothing to do with his actual plans. The real justification was that since those project permissions expired three years ago, community members began viewing this empty, undeveloped land as a park. Kids would play there. Dogs would be allowed to roam free there unleashed.
In fact, it seemed as if everyone was allowed to make use of the property, except for its rightful owner.
Lufthansa flight interrupted to find chonky orange cat who escaped airline carrier and was attempting to sneak into first class 40,000 feet in the air: 'He wasn't sorry at all'
Flying with pets is always a journey. If you're lucky, you have a social cat who doesn't care at all about new places and people, who will just sleep or be fascinated the whole trip. If you're unlucky, you have a cat that gets very anxious and you spend the whole flight trying to calm them down. Either way, it's hard to manage thousands of miles of travel up in the air with a small creature who has no idea what's going on. Let alone bringing a "portable litter box" with you, which is usually just a bag of litter you hope they will go into when they need to use the bathroom.
But, it's still better than the alternative, which is usually leaving your cat behind or rehoming them. The best choice is always to take them with you, if it's a purrmanent trip. If you're just going away for a week, it's probably smarter to find a cat sitter or have a friend watch over them. Even social cats will get stressed out with so much change in such a short period of time.
Well, except for our orange cat and his hissterical flight below. This chonky boy escaped his cat carrier at cruising altitude and was caught trying to sneak into first class. Obviously, the thought he deserved a better seat, or purrhaps, he smelled the salmon they were being served there. The whole flight searched for him, and ended his rambunctious adventure before he caused too much orange chaos.
