Cats who are abandoned do not usually find homes within the first 24hrs of their stray life. Largely due to the fact that they are frozen with fear and usually hiding themselves really well until they feel somewhat safe enough to move about. But in this story our rescue is swift and immediate.

You see this story from Reddit's r/cats subreddit is a wonderfully special example of what can happen if a rescuer can get to an abandoned cat fast enough. Now, when we say fast enough we mean within seconds of the dumping happening. Otherwise the cat will likely run off to hide as detailed above.

So of course it is the case that most of the time it is unfeasible for a rescuer to turn up right as a cat is being abandoned. But in this story we are lucky enough to actually see this act of purrfect timing in action and how it was able to save a scared cat from succumbing to the streets and had him placed in a warm and loving home with fluffy sheets instead. A truly happy ending to make up for a sad and sorrow-filled beginning. 
 

You spent a lot of money on a luxurious cat bed only to watch your cat ignore it and choose the weirdest place possible for a nap? I get you. And trust me, you're not alone. They trick us into thinking they're helpless babies so that we do all of their dirty work for them (namely, the litter box). So the next time your cat is pretending to be useless, remember that they are still your home's protector, pawfessional snuggler, and the in-home pest controller. Cats have all different needs from each other, just the same as flowers have different needs. Your cat may want to be alone a lot of the time, maybe he or she hates belly rubs, and not like snuggles. It can be incredible to get exactly what you want. Life is full of ups and downs, and there's really no telling what's too big to ask, to want, to hope for, and what isn't. The simple things aren't easy to come by these days. Even if you just want a stable job and to enjoy your personal life and a stable home, these aren't things that are as easy to achieve as they were previously. The world is changing all the time, and things are immensely unstable. Without that baseline stability, it can feel difficult to ask the universe for special favors, but you might as well ask and see what comes out of it. 

In Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, a man going through a breakup had the idea to get a cat. He wanted to get the cat with his now ex while they were still together, but fate had something else in mind for him. He likes big cats, fluffy cats, bold cats who make a statement. He really wanted a maine coon, but that's not always the easiest breed to adopt, and he didn't want to buy. He thought about it and let the cat distribution system do it's work. You can call it karma for being broken hearted, or you can call it fate. But he then saw on Craigslist two maine coon siblings up for adoption! The owner couldn't take care of them anymore but was torn about parting from them. If you didn't believe in the cat distribution system before, you should now! 

It's important to set boundaries in relationships. One of those boundaries has to be: "don't throw my cat out of the house when you're mad at me."

We've said it a hundred times before, but we'll say it again. People, discuss cats when you start dating someone. If cats are important to you - which, if you're here, then they probably are - then you have to let the person you are dating know about that as soon as possible. Some people hate cats, as unbelievable as that may sound, and those are people that you should probably avoid dating. Some people don't care about cats - that is also a red flag. Align your goals and expectations about all important things. You have to. And those things have to include your cats. 

Otherwise, you might end up in a situation like the one that was recently written about on r/relationship_advice and end up having to break up over a cat. And this wasn't just any breakup. This was a four-year relationship with plans to get engaged a month away from the incident. And maybe you want to say that four years… that's too late to align expectations, but no, it's not. If a line is crossed when it comes to your pets, then actions must be taken. 

When an old grudge blurs your vision

Loyalty is a double-edged sword. Sometimes, staying loyal to someone means disappointing another. In yet another case of what seems to be a growing tendency between parents, we find the story of a father who prefers his son's loyalty over his son living in a house of his own.

Any form of inheritance symbolically means 'you belong to this line', and the father's intent on forcing the son not to accept what his grandfather is giving to him, to me, reveals the father's hidden interest in the son remaining his heir (remaining on his family line) and not his grandfather's. The question is, why does this inheritance spark so much rivalry?

One of our favorite things about cats is that nothing stops them from creating chaos. Nothing at all. 

Cats adapt. That's one of the coolest things about them. They have one goal in life. That goal is chaos. And they chase that goal without letting anything get in their way. Absolutely nothing can stop them from committing crimes. A cat with three legs will use all three of them for chaos and not even notice it's missing a fourth. A blind cat will use its super hearing to commit the purrfect crime, especially if it includes screaming and running over our stomachs at 3 AM. You would think that a broken leg would put a paws on feline shenanigans like these, but no, not even that can make it happen. 

This is something that has been proved beyond a shadow of a doubt on r/cats when Bug's story was put up. Bug, as he was being rescued from a drain pipe, sprained one of his paws, and the vets had to put him in a cast. But Bug was committing crimes from the second that he was rescued, and a single cast was not going to stop him. In fact, he has discovered how to use said cast as a launcher - so he can run and commit his crimes faster. 

At what point does a difficult neighbour cross the line from annoying to reportable?

There's nothing out there that can prevent you from having a bad neighbour. Well… you can move to a remote spot in the mountains or to the middle of the ocean, but you can still somehow encounter a difficult resident. That's why it's fundamental to have some common rules with others: it's just not fair for someone to take advantage of, or treat either the street or the building as if they were the only ones there. 

This story I'm about to share explains my exact point perfectly. We all know that a block is not private property. The total opposite, in fact, is the space where residents access their homes, pedestrians walk their dogs, kids play, cars drive by, etc. So why would someone pretend this is not the case and act like there's no one else to share the street with? The OP manifested his frustration while talking about these people, and shared some details that the community in r/homeowners was not ready to hear.

Apparently, they not only block the driveway and prevent people to walk confortable or driving safely, but they also don't seem to care that their dog is without a leash outside, and keeps barking at every single living thing that crosses its gaze. He insisted that kids are scared of him, and it's just annoying to hear and watch. Anyways, you cannot wait to read what his response was when the OP built a fence for his own dog, and to protect his property.

What is an appropriate outfit to wear to a job interview?

There's an episode of Modern Family in which Mitchell arrives at work in a Halloween costume after a few coworkers tell him that everyone dresses up on Halloween. Only when he gets to work in a Spider-Man costume, Mitchell, an esteemed lawyer, discovers he is actually the only one dressed up, and everyone else is dressed in their suits.

That is what I imagined happening when I read the story below. A hiring manager texted a job candidate saying they "like to have fun here" and asking them to arrive in a costume. They proceeded to say that they want to see that they have a sense of humor, and that the costume will help them see their personality. Then they ended the text saying that they will also be in costume.

Now, I don't know about you, but if I read this text from a workplace I'm interviewing for, there is no chance I'm showing up for that interview, costume or no costume. 

There's no way of telling whether this is a setup or not. What would happen if you arrive in a costume and the company pulls a Modern Family trick and everyone else is wearing normal clothes? How are you supposed to interview for them like that? But even if this text is completely serious and they all actually dress up for a bit of whimsy in the office… It sounds like an awful place to work, honestly. No one wants their workplace to enforce fun by making everyone wear a costume on a random Tuesday. A fun office is a fun office without needing to try so hard. Either you got it, or you don't.

When cat people have some time on their hands, some talent (arguably only small amounts needed, as demonstrated below), and the desire to enact their free will - you get the funniest results online. In the case of u/uno_name_left, it's demonstrated immaculately, with this particular person asking cat parents to send him silly pictures of their cats, and he… well, you know how it is. Silly cats must receive a silly art treatment. Especially if the picture contains cat bums and tails.

But with all honesty, as hissterically hilarious as it is, it's not surprising to us. We already know that the online feline family is funny, because cat people are seriously the funniest people online. Take this other art endeavour, for example - where a cat mom draws her cat's paws and calls it an OnlyBeans. Or this very round void cat who was rushed to the vet only to receive the diagnosis of "fat cat", sending the feline-loving folks online into a series of joke-making that had us holding our stomachs in laughter. And what about the wife who went on a date with her cat? Her husband could simply not compete with this dapper gentleman.

We know that cat people will never fail to make us laugh, and we're just here to spread the cat silliness even further.

Evidence doesn't support their claims, so what is it that managers are really doing when they push strict Return to Office policies? 

In this story, a remote-working employee shared how, after months of listening to their boss criticize remote workers, they learned that the manager himself lived in a different state and had been only pretending to work from the office.

Look, I get that as a manager sometimes you're expected to shovel the things that are handed down to your right on down to your team without question, but manager-employee trust is important, and few things will hurt buy-in like a manager not "walking the walk" and following their own policies.

When you're a leader, demanding things from others without being able to, well, you know… lead, will run you into problems when it comes to getting buy-in from the team. But, then again, some managers aren't leaders, or at least don't see that as their role. 

How can anyone not adore cats?

Cats have been adored by humanity for millennia. We didn't domesticate them - cats domesticated us, turned us into their servants, and have been acting like they're our royalty since the times of ancient Egypt (and possibly even before, but that's a topic for another day). And we? We're happy to serve our feline overlords. We do it with glee in our hearts and a smile on our faces - we pamper, we pander, we answer their every whim, want, and desire. And it makes us just as happy as it makes our cats.

What's not to like about cats? Cats are fluffy, their fur is purrfectly smooth, and they actually let us pet them. Cats are funny, never failing to make us laugh with their endless antics (yes, even if it costs us a mug or two, or perhaps the living room curtains). Cats are cute, they have the most adorable little faces you can literally stare at all day while audibly "aww"ing at how cute they are. Cats show us love and affection just as much as we show them, which every cat pawrent has experienced and can attest to.

While hoomans spend the next few weeks arguing over lineups, checking scores, and stress-eating our way through the World Cup, cats are approaching the tournament from a much healthier perspective. They don't care who's topping the group stage, whether their national team can make a deep run, or why their human suddenly started yelling at the television. They're simply here to enjoy the spectacle.

Anyone who's lived in a building, a complex, a duplex, or any shared community space has likely dealt with the drama of the laundry room. Oftentimes, the bottom line in the laundry room is simple: don't mess with someone else's clothes. However, if that person neglects their load of towels, they can't expect the whole world to come to a standstill

When this resident's neighbor forgot to tie a string around their finger over their laundry, a vicious neighborhood debate sprang forth, bringing the landlord into the matter. Talk about drama. Immediately taking their debate to the hallowed walls of Reddit's r/AmIOverreacting subreddit, this resident sparked some serious debate over the laundry grace period. 

What do you think was the right call here? Wait for who-knows-how-long for a stranger to get their chore list together, or take control of your own errands, move someone's clean clothes, and set the tone for shared laundromat spaces for the future. As a frequent flyer at the laundromat, I know exactly what I would do… 30 minutes is maybe even too long a grace period in my book. 

Was this father entitled to be included?

What stands out in this story is that the father seems to be sending two conflicting messages: one that he can't be bothered to make the effort to see his daughter on her graduation day, and the other that he wants to be a part of the milestone and the celebration. I genuinely wonder if his wrath is not deep down directed at his own contradictions. This made me miss the times when one had to confront only the situations that happened in real life, and then they were talked through exclusively face-to-face (except for handwritten letters, but you understand me). There wasn't a possibility of getting home after a very busy celebration day and finding a hundred text messages with all the stream of consciousness of your angry father. You could delay the talk until things cool down a little, and everyone involved has thought through it, especially in this case, since the father lived far away.

Saving kittens is the easy part. The real challenge begins once you bring them home.

While Reddit's r/kittens subreddit is full of cute kitten photos, stories like this reveal the reality behind many rescues. After pulling a litter of kittens from beneath a dilapidated old deck, one compassionate rescuer reached out for help, only to find that no local rescue organizations could take them. Rather than leave the kittens without care, they took on the challenge themselves. 

The kittens had a rough start. After being rescued, they needed round-the-clock attention. Fleas became one of the biggest hurdles, especially because the kittens were too young for standard treatments. The runt of the litter has needed even more care to make sure it's eating enough and keeping up with its siblings.

The rescue effort has also come with a financial commitment. Between vet visits, supplies, food, and other necessities, the foster caregiver has spent hundreds of dollars out of pocket to make sure the kittens have everything they need.

Despite the challenges, the reward has been watching the litter slowly grow stronger with each passing day. What started as a group of fragile kittens hiding beneath a neglected deck has become a litter of thriving little personalities. Anyone who's fostered kittens knows how quickly attachment forms when you're feeding, cleaning, and caring for them around the clock.

The kittens may eventually move on to forever homes, but it's easy to understand why their rescuer is already dreading that day. After all that time, effort, and love, they've become much more than temporary guests.
