As Marie Kondo famously said, "Does this spark joy?", and if she was talking about cats, the answer would be a resounding "yes".

It's sad to say, but there aren't many things in this world that bring us joy anymore. Even going to the movies to see something like Scary Movie 6, which is literally tailored for our millennial souls, sounds like a chore now with the rising ticket prices and people's inability to behave themselves in public anymore. Or even going out to eat, we'd rather stay at home and cook in our comfy clothes than go pay for small, overpriced entree and less-than-spectacular service. It just doesn't have the same appeal as it did in 2012. 

But, we've held onto a few things that are like chicken soup for our souls. One is reading, we have never stopped since becoming obsessed with the Harry Potter series when we were kids. The second, and the reason we're here with you today, is cats. All cats. Our own cats, befriending random street cats, and also enjoying all the heartwarming feline pictures on the internet whenever we're feeling like we need a mood booster. 

We come here every Friday with the same feeling: a desire for a fleeting meowment of cat-centered joy. A break in the day where we don't have anything else to focus on except for those cute, fluffy things we call felines. No thoughts, no deadlines, just floofy heads, soft bodies, and a whole lot of comfort. 

We feel sorry for people who don't find as much joy in things as we do in cats. It's the purrfect feeling to know that we can just open our phones or computers and find lists of awwdorable kitties at the tips of our fingers whenever we need to smile. How much should an adult who still lives with their parents share with the rest of the family?

We're not talking about sharing feelings; you should always share your thoughts and feelings with people you care about. We are talking about physical objects you buy for yourself, but have to keep at your parents' home because that is where you live. Some belongings can be easily stored in your room and held safely if you don't want anyone to use them, while others are more difficult to hide or prevent people from claiming ownership of.

When I briefly went back to living with my parents after college, the main person I had to worry about was my little sister.  Even though she was still in high school, we were roughly the same clothing size, so she would constantly steal my clothes and even shoes whenever I wasn't there to stop her, and it truly annoyed me greatly. There I was, working hard for my money and saving every penny I could to treat myself to a nice dress or a fancy pair of pants, while she was still living off my parents and stealing every new piece of clothing she saw on her daily raid of my closet.

The only way I got her to stop was by putting a lock on my closet and ensuring she can't get in there while I was out at work.

Clothes are not the only thing your family can claim while you're all living under the same roof. The 20-year-old college student who shared his story below is currently fighting off family members from his PS5. The funny thing is, they were all super judgmental when he announced that he intended to buy the game console, and they claimed he should use his hard-earned money on things that would better benefit the family. But as soon as the PS5 was purchased, they suddenly wanted him to put it in the living room or allow everyone to play it whenever they wanted.

What can this college student do to ward off his family from something he worked so hard to buy for himself?

Where can the CDS find you, you ask? Literally anywhere and anytime. 

Some people - uh… like us - pray for the CDS to find them every single day. We think we're worth it. We think we've earned it. But alas, we have not been chosen again quite yet, and we are waiting (im)patiently for it to finally happen. Other people don't ask for it at all. They hate cats, they don't want cats, they already have too many cats. There is always an excuse, but the cats never hear it. They don't care. The CDS works in meowsterious ways, and whether a cat will adopt you or not is not up to you. 

The person who shared today's story on r/CatDistributionSystem had those same excuses. They weren't looking to adopt a cat. They already have a cat and a dog. But one look at this tiny pair of kittens, and they knew that they had to take them home. The meowgic took over. All other thoughts were wiped from their brains. It was only "kittens", and just like that, they ended up with four pets in their home instead of two. So, if you're wondering how to call on the CDS, we have no answer. We just keep waiting and praying. 

One favor from friend to friend turned into the realization that her roommate might have been stealing money from her. 

After paying her roommate for utilities every month for three years, one woman discovered a past-due notice that raised some uncomfortable questions about where the money had actually been going.

We do everything that we can, as fosters, to make sure our foster cats get to the best homes, but we can never be 100% sure… 

Fostering a cat is hard enough as it is. Not the fostering itself. We do it because we want to help shelters, because we want to help as many cats as pawssible to find their homes. The hard part is not bonding with the cat, it's not taking care of the cat and taking it to the vet. 

The hard part is letting them go. Because we really do bond with them. We try to make them happy when they are with us, and if they really are happy, then taking them away from that happiness hurts. But we look for homes for them anyway, because we want to help other cats too. We just try our best to make sure the home they end up in is a good one. 

Of course, there is no way to be 100% sure that the home you've found is a good one. We do our best, but sometimes, we're wrong. And when a cat gets returned to the shelter, especially if it was a cat that we fostered, out heart breaks. And the heart of user @laurennwedge on twitter broke too when that happened. So they took things into their own hands, and the solution was simple… just adopt the cat. 

When a fairytale becomes your reality

The 'evil stepmother' trope is one of the oldest family archetypes in literature and mythology. It's present in Cinderella, Snow white, and countless other folktales. I'm prone to thinking clichés exist for a reason, and I'm sure modern psychology eventually started paying attention to why this figure appears so consistently.

The Redditor who shared this story suffered through years of gaslighting, suspecting something was wrong (bath products disappearing, missing keys) while unable to pinpoint what. Finally, one day, the truth came out. Once we discover something like this, the next logical step is wondering: Why on earth would somebody in her position do something like that? And that's what we're going to do today.

Good Samaritan or nosy worker who likes meddling in other people's business.  

Sometimes intentions are good, but the outcome isn't. No matter how great your idea is, you should consult your coworkers before meddling in the business and displace every document they use. In this Reddit story, the employee does seem to want to do good. He saw a problem and a solution so clear that he didn't stop one second to ask, or at least for advice, that he was going to change everything in the file system. I'm not sure if he's a genius or a moron.

That feeling you get when you find something in your workspace that is completely misused, cluttered, or disorganized is universal. Everyone has found that little –or big– thing that they know it would just take a few hours to solve, and it will change the complete management of the office. You have seen it, I have. The thing is that nobody has the time to take care of it, or at least nobody wants to take extra time to do it. The difference between all of us and this employee is that he took the time, every Friday in the last 30 minutes of his shift, to delete, organize, and clean the shared cloud.

The big deal began when people started noticing that the main documents that they use every day weren't where they were supposed to be, and others were simply deleted from existence. I actually think that this worker just got excited that he had found a way to fix an issue. Most probably, he thought of himself as a genius who was going to get a rise or some kind of congratulations for his hard work. Instead, he ends up being someone who has to stay in the shadows because his coworkers are mad at him. What he did is not wrong in itself. It's actually just really disrespectful that he didn't ask before deleting and changing stuff. 
 

Morning! Time to wake up and start your day, my lil bro. I know you didn't get much sleep, but that's adult life. Even if you feel smol and eepy, you need to wake up and face your daily responsibilities. Don't you ever feel like an eepy kitten living in a wakey world? I get it. I feel that way too. Sometimes we're just tiny adults trying to keep our lives together but we are too sleepy to function. But I know you can do it. And deep down, you know it too. Keep going! But first, take a good nap. You desrve it. And these sleepy kittens totally agree.

You can't go through life without getting enough rest because it won't do you any good. Actually you can, but you'll scare everyone away with your grumpy mood, most probably. And nobody wants that. 

But seriously, naps are important. And isn't it so satisfying to sleep without an alarm clock set? That's one of the greatest benefits of the weekend. But since we're still in the middle of the week, listen: getting enough sleep is essential. I hope you're getting your 8 hours of sleep every day or at least something close to it. I don't want you walking around all eepy, please. You deserve some rest or you'll end up like these kittens, falling asleep in random places.

What's the point of a notice period if the employer doesn't use it to ensure they have the quitting employee's tasks all covered?

Your employee is doing you a favor by announcing their departure two weeks before they actually leave, so if you don't use that time wisely, don't expect them to give you more time.

Unfortunately, many employers blatantly ignore this advice and do the exact opposite. They might be hurt by their employee's decision to leave, or they might simply be bad planners, but you constantly hear of employers who contact their ex-employees with questions and demands after they're already gone. Which leads to the question: What should the ex-employees do about it?

If we're being frank, no one should concern themselves with stuff regarding their last job from the minute they walk out of the building for the last time. As soon as you stop getting paid for the job, their tasks are no longer yours, and you can empty your mind completely of anything involving that job. It's time to move on.

Does every employee follow that strategy once they leave? Probably not. Many ex-employees find themselves answering calls from their former coworker and employers, answering questions no one was responsible enough to ask during the notice period. Unless they block these people, they might never stop hearing from them…

The employer in the story below, who shared it on Reddit, however, knew better. During their two-week notice period, there was radio silence from all of the upper management, clearly upset about their leaving. On their last shift, an hour before it ended, one manager decided to call the employee up and start giving them tasks to do. 

Annoyed that the manager waited so long, the employee simply said 'fine' and finished their last shift. No one could stop them from walking out of the building, and any remaining tasks are officially no longer their problem. If anyone has an issue with that, well, bummer to be them.

When the world is catching fire all around us, we need content online that will add a sprinkle of joy into our lives… a sprinkly of kitty cat goodness. 

At this point in 2026, we are just kind of trying to survive. Social media is a wasteland full of landmines. You never know if you are going to read the cutest, most wholesome story in the world about a cat getting adopted, or if you are going to see something that will forever be seared into your brain. Of course, we keep going online a- because we're probably addicted, but b- because we know that, no matter how crazy the world gets, there are always things on the internet that we don't want to miss, and all of these things - yes, all of them - involve cats. 

We don't know what we would do if cat content got banned from the internet one day. It's the only thing that is keeping us sane at this point. All the cute cat pictures that keep going viral online. All the funny cat memes that people keep sharing no matter what else is happening on the timeline. We need these things for our souls. We need them to keep functioning. We need these memes because they are like a sprinkle of joy in a world of madness. 

'With all my worldly goods I thee endow'

Marriage vows typically contain a phrase that refers back to the "what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine" idea; the way we think about that union has been ingrained in us for centuries. However, when one thinks of that, one thinks of shared belongings, goods, food, and shelter, not about claiming authorship for everything our partner has done before we were even in the picture. The woman in the story below is surprised, with good reason, by her partner's attitude towards her creation and asks us if she is at fault for the drama. Given the overt overstepping of boundaries, I'm going to preface this by saying she is not, but it's always interesting to read and analyze how and why humans sometimes act ridiculously.

From Reddit's r/CatDistributionSystem, a woman challenges the universe and asks for a small request. She's been tragically affected by the passing of two dogs. She's never had a cat before, and she decided with her husband that this is the best course of action for their next pet. Better to try something new than keep going when you see it doesn't work. She even told the universe to give her a cat from the cat distribution service after she comes back from her music festivals at Lightning in a Bottle. Sure enough, her and her husband got home and her neighbor promptly knocked on her door with an offering from above. He said he's moving and no longer able to take care of his cat, and surely handed the furball over to them. They knew it was due to their wish to the universe, and the universe answered. Despite some health issues, the cat is fine now and they're so happy to be gifted this furry friend from the universe. Remember that when you ask something, it might be granted. It's better to believe and request than to assume the worst. 

It's easy sometimes to feel discouraged or down on your luck, but a good attitude and hopeful disposition are the first steps to meownifestation. What are you waiting for? 

Stories about young people being delicate, too-easily-offended snowflakes aren't scarce or special. But this story is very special, because scarcely do we come across such a spectacular backfired demand. I hope we get to hear a ton of stories like it, but for now? One of a kind, like, like, a snowflake!And in this snowflake of a story, someone's younger coworkers spend a whole meeting explaining that punctuation is basically emotional violence and that everyone needs to adopt a new system of tone indicators to make the workplace safe for their dainty little hearts. My response would be inappropriate, but these seasoned older employees did what they were asked to do: went home and studied the list all weekend, aced it, came back Monday using every single one correctly, and got reported to HR by Thursday.Looks like, among the other things the newly employed babies in that office didn't learn till now is: Be careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it.

To present your boundaries is a great thing to do to avoid uncomfortable situations, but maybe you should be mindful of how you communicate them.

Is really common to hear phrases like "that makes me anxious" or "I need some space". The fact that we hear them more and more is actually a good thing. Nowadays, people are starting to feel more comfortable defining their limits to avoid miscommunications and uncomfortable situations. The idea that we can verbally express when something is not great for us is valuable. It makes our relationship work better and our friendship last longer. But, as with everything, it has a bad side.

This placement of boundaries has gone out of hand, not only in what the people are expecting others to understand but in the way it gets communicated. There is some kind of entitlement where some people start to believe that just because they don't like something, they have the authority to explain their limits with no manners or with a condescending tone. Is as if they have forgotten that people do not read their minds and that just because you don't like what someone is doing or how they are treating you, it doesn't mean you have the privilege to talk to them in an arrogant tone.

In the case of this Reddit story, even though the user is explaining a very valid point in which he is defining what his job description consists of, he does it in a way that sounds entitled and arrogant. Instead of coming as a friendly reminder or even a formal complaint, it comes across as bossy and condescending. So, the problem with his argument isn't the complaint he made, is actually the horrible tone he took, making the readers of his email feel uncomfortable. Which takes me to my original point: the problem of placing boundaries is not the boundaries themselves, but the fact that most people have the habit of doing it in a not-so-friendly way. 
 

The moment that a cat pawrent hears the topic of classic cat child behavior come up their ears start burning. Each pawrent has their own bank of unique quirks their cat child has collected, but all essentially fall under the same few umbrellas, making the experience quite a relatable one. And seeing as though Caturday is almost upon us we figured you might enjoy a moment to laugh a little at the chaos that the weekend and Caturday will bring with them in your home.

It is a tough fact to face but on the days that we are more available to them our cats choose to do some of the most annoying things. Who said cats hate water? Well maybe most cats do, but these are not your average kitties!

Summer is around the corner and these cats are summer READY. No bathing suit needed, furry skin got them covered! Who would have thought cats would enjoy spending so much time by the water? These kitties are not your regular home kitties, your indoor cat won't let you clean its mouth with a little bit of water. These guys?  Swimming, surfing, castle making, you name it. Some kitties are just built different, no amount of salt, waves, and itchy eyes will stop them. I think this time it was us who underestimated their abilities to adapt. And not only do they adapt, they thrive and look pawesome doing it. 

They will look effortless cool, chic, calmed and collected. Not a single drop of sweat seen in their bodies, they will always look fabulous. Another advantage our feline friends have is their abilities to nap anywhere. No beach umbrella needed, no sunglasses, no renewing sunscreen every 60 minutes, cats have the mega super power of falling asleep wherever they please to. Personally, I would need (a lot) of sun protection, a towel to lay my body, a hat and a water bottle by my side. I am starting to realize maybe my cat was not complicated at all, all along the problem was me.
