'You should have thought about it sooner': Nanny arrives at new job and immediately gets sick, boss refuses to give her a day off

Fail Blog - Thu, 04/11/2024 - 04:00

Being a full-time nanny can either be the best job of your life or the worst, it all depends on the family that you are working for. If the parents are chill and supportive, you can have the best time with their kids and actually become part of the family. But, if the parents are harsh and inconsiderate, the job can easily become a burden and a frustrating experience, even regardless of how the kids themselves behave.

Unfortunately, the family in this Reddit story resembles the latter. OP (original poster) has been hired to be a full-time nanny for this rich family. Even on the first day, she could feel that the vibes about them were just off as both the kids and their mom were sick, so it wasn't surprising when OP herself got sick a few days later. When she talked about it with her "new boss", aka the dad, he was less than thoughtful and insisted that OP getting sick wasn't related to them. He then continued to demand OP to come to work the next day, completely disregarding the fact that she was unwell.

Scroll down to read the full story, and even read some of the actual communication between OP and the dad. After that, click here for a story of an employee who made a mistake that might cost him his job.

A Work Lunchbox Full of 32 Hardhat Cat Memes for Purrfessionals Who Need a Paws From Their Workday

LOL Cats - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 19:00

Take a load off, put your hardhat in the passenger seat, and pspsps your way into the weekend with these funny hardhat cat memes

How often do you get scheduled for a 10-hour shift? For blue-collar employees, it seems like it's every other day that you're reporting to the job site at 5AM only to get home far later than any of your 9-5 friends. What's the big idea? How are we supposed to leave our cats at home unattended for so long? Who will cuddle them!

For contractors on the job, sometimes the best part of your day is that brief 20-minute sit-down where you find a spot in the shade, crack open your lunch box, and heave a heavy sigh at the Franken-lunch you assembled this morning. But at work, there's a slim chance of encountering a construction site feline. Cats are drawn to the hardworking hoomans of the world (scouting for servants). When it comes to the blue-collar employee, cats know that they've found a hooman who can handle their feisty needs–and, chances are, that same worker has a tasty tuna sandwich in their lunchbox of wonders.

Worker contacted by shocked HR months after being told they'd been laid off in case of mistaken identity: 'It took them almost TWO months to realize'

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 16:00

The nature of something serious lends you to believe that that thing will be handled seriously, with calculated, methodical decision-making in its orchestration. Company-wide layoffs are a bit like that; the wide-sweeping impact made on people's lives means you'd expect each and every decision to be made with careful thought. Well, that's not always the case. At the end of the day, there's some administrator somewhere handling the clerical work through some management system, and both people and systems are prone to mistakes, especially when two things are closely related or similar to a level that isn't discernable at a glance.

One such mistake is exactly what led to this worker thinking that they had been laid off for two whole months while their employer still thought that they were working for them. The mistake only came to light when an HR manager got in touch with them to ask them why they hadn't been keeping up with their annual training requirements. The confused worker responded that they had been chopped along with 50 other of the company's employees during a recent round of layoffs. After a few minutes to calculate, the HR manager left in a panic before revealing that their inclusion in the layoffs had been an unfortunate case of mistaken identity. Fortunately for the worker, they were prepared before the "layoff" occurred and had already secured another job that would put them in a more secure role with better pay.

Commenters were quick to point out that the worker should have played dumb and should have acted like they had been working for the entire duration in order to secure payment for the period before giving their notice. See the original post and responses below.

'Anti-anti-theft': Retail employee wins the award for 'Most Brainless Employee of the Month' after attaching anti-theft devices to the price tags

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 15:00

As employees, we're all just tools in the toolbox of our company. For utility purposes, we perform our function at work and then we clock out–it's simple. But as every worker knows, we all have one coworker on the roster who's not the sharpest tool in the shed. Even after months of training and hand-holding, that one coworker seems to always fumble the simplest tasks, making work harder for everyone on shift.

And whether it's by design or by accident, the retail world always seems to harbor some of the dullest dolts in the workforce.

For the guy in our next story, this became painfully apparent after teaching his coworker to use the anti-theft tagging tool. You know, the ones that clamp the dye pack to your chino pants, making an irreversibly damaged hole in the fabric, while also deterring thievery? Well, nobody likes this device either way, but when the anti-theft tag is rendered useless due to an idiotic attachment, its futility is compounded tenfold.

Scroll for the entire hoopla where a coworker wins the award for the 'Most Brainless Employee of the Month' after attaching an anti-theft device to the price tags of all of the new merchandise.

'A legend was created': 20+ Hilarious moments that made people laugh hysterically

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 14:00

All of us have that one story about the funniest thing we've ever witnessed. It's that one tale that your friend group can tell over and over, since it brings everyone to tears of laughter with every repeated telling. Often, the story involves someone in the friend group falling or making a fool of themselves in some other goofy way. The good people of the r/AskReddit community told their own stories about the funniest things they've personally witnessed, and it's impossible to read them without cracking up with laughter.

More than one person walked right into a sign in front of all their friends, which can lead to years of teasing. Another group pulled a joke on their friend by putting a fake fly in her chips. But one member of the group could barely conceal their laughter before that friend discovered the fake bug. When the friend finally did find it, the friend group started laughing harder at that than at the actual prank. You never know when you might accidentally become the next subject of the joke! Whether it's at school, work, or just out and about, hilarity can happen at any moment.

20 instant red flags on dating app profiles: 'I don't understand why it says I'm 39, I'm actually 58'

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 13:00

In theory, swiping through potential partners on dating apps should not be the soul-crushing activity that it is. It should be thrilling to assess potential suitors, to scroll through their pictures and profile information while imagining what a relationship with them could look like. Unfortunately, reality has made it nearly impossible to enjoy the eternal misery of swiping on the apps.

Perhaps it's our fault for always opening these apps during moments of loneliness and general low points. We have to stop doing that. That being said, at the end of the day, the vast majority of upsetting moments that come from the experience of swiping left or right involves how people present themselves on their profiles. In other words, some of you single folks need to clean up your profile descriptions, learn to be more respectful of others, and learn to expect as much as you give. No more blurry photos with fish or other dudes that make it impossible to decipher who you are. No more strange demands in the descriptions. Let us try to enjoy the experience of swiping left or right on you.

'Car dealer tells me I should waste my time': Dealership judges potential customer, customer takes business elsewhere then returns to gloat

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 12:00

This buyer prepared well before heading to the car dealership: they researched the cars and knew exactly what model they wanted. And of course, they knew the right price that they should've been getting the vehicle for. You can't expect the dealer to give you a low price, you have to fight for it.

While looking to buy a new car, this person decided to check out a major dealership in their area, since they'd had a good experience with them before. But they'd only had their car serviced there, and they hadn't met their sales department yet. It turns out that the sales department was quite judgy, and made a snap judgment about this person's income just by looking at what they were wearing.

The writer of the story shares that they were so sure they wouldn't buy a vehicle that the dealership assigned an inexperienced worker to show them the cars on the lot. That wouldn't have been so bad if they'd treated this buyer with respect, but the employees seemed to relish in ignoring this person. At least the dealership learned their lesson when u/NOVAEvilCapitalist showed up again to gloat.

'[I] filled the blue soap with Blue Rit Dye': Tenant enacts petty payback on neighbors for always using her laundry detergent

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 11:00

Laundry thieves are strong contenders for the worst kinds of people. If you're like me and you have a communal laundry room in the basement of your building, you have likely come across a few issues with your fellow neighbors. Sometimes, they take forever to pick up their clean clothes and leave them in the one dryer for hours on end. Sometimes, they remove your clean clothes the minute they are done instead of waiting a few moments for you to pick them up. And sometimes, they just straight-up steal your clothes, laundry basket, or detergent.

Here, we have someone who continued to use their neighbor's laundry detergent without permission. After several notes and warnings to stop doing this, the thief persisted, which left their neighbor with no choice but to enact some well-deserved petty revenge. This meant filling the blue soap box with blue dye and seeing what unfolded.

Keep scrolling below to see what happened after the thief discovered the dye, albeit way too late. For more stories like this, here is one about a wife who locked her husband out of their bedroom because of a petty mistake.

'Let them down slowly': Apartment dweller hijacks the elevator to get payback against an entitled group of dawdlers

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 09:00

Some people have no social awareness. Entitled folks living in their own little bubble are usually the ones who park their shopping cart in the middle of the aisle, let their untrained dogs off leash, and clog up the elevators in your apartment building. There are very few chances to bring karma around and let these entitled people know they're acting inconsiderately, but sometimes life presents you with a golden opportunity for some petty revenge.

The apartment dweller in our next story turned a simple trash run into a spot of justice after waiting forever for the elevator to come down. Through paper-thin ceiling panels, they heard a group of chatty Kathy's upstairs holding the elevator door open for a friend, but as the trash juice dripped on their feet and the wait time became more urgent, this Petty Crocker was prepared to get a little revenge of their own.

Scroll for the revenge that pushed some buttons in this apartment complex and brought the time-wasters a taste of their own medicine as they made a stop at every single floor on their way to the ground level.

'I went back and got every leaf off of her property': "Lawn Karen" complains about her yards' appearance

Fail Blog - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 08:00

"Wealthy homeowners tend to be the most difficult customers," one landscaper revealed. Instead of hiring a landscaper to make their yard beautiful using the talents they've honed, some wealthy homeowners want to micromanage the whole process. Why spend a leisurely afternoon catching up on a TV show or pursuing your own hobbies, when instead, you could bother the landscapers as they try to beautify your house?

U/Nowjamessays*** has a ton of stories to share about their richest clients, who usually are the most picky clients as well. And they clearly aren't alone in this predicament: commenters shared their own stories of all the times they've had to deal with nosy Karens while mowing and leaf-blowing. Just leave it to the professionals, folks! And as one commenter suggested, sometimes it's better for your business if you drop the worst of your customers. You'll have more time for customers who respect your work, and you won't have to deal with nitpicking about every last detail.

After you check out this lawncare expert's story, plus the intruguing comments, read about this bumbling electrician who managed to drop several really valuable items down an 800-foot hole, where they could never be retrieved for him.

Hissterical Cat Memes Celebrating The Superiority Of All Things Feline

LOL Cats - Wed, 04/10/2024 - 08:00

Hello fellow feline enthusiasts! Today, we want to tackle the stereotype surrounding cat lovers. It's a common misconception that those of us who adore cats, particularly women, are labeled as "crazy cat ladies." While we may chuckle at the label, it's time to set the record straight: we cat lovers are perfectly sane individuals.

Despite our overwhelming sanity, we cat people also acknowledge the fact that cats reign supreme in our worlds. Our cats call the shots, when they're hungry, they let us know and we feed them. When we forgetful and silly humans leave a glass of water out on the counter unattended, they are going to push the glass over. They've trained us well at this point, and we almost always remember to put the glasses away before they can be seen by a creature of the feline variety, but alas, we are imperfect creatures. Unlike our cats, who are supreme purrfection. Now, enjoy these hissterical cat memes celebrating the superiority of all things feline.
