'It felt good snitching... especially since they are lying and stealing from my community': Man calls out house flippers for not paying taxes, gains community support

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 09:00

This responsible citizen was browsing through Zillow when he stumbled upon something odd. He noticed a house that was clearly a flip due to the short amount of time between its original purchase date and its relisting for sale (around two months in total). It was obvious that no one was residing in the house. Still, the house flippers were attempting to pull a fast one on the community by listing the property as a primary residence despite that it clearly was not. This moral citizen was angered by the flipper's deceitfulness and felt concerned about his children who attend the local school district, as it seems that corporations are increasingly attempting to deceive the community by finding tax cuts. So, he reported this incident to the government.

As a result of this, he began uncovering more corrupt corporations that were attempting to steal from the community. Little did the man know that his actions would gain such support online for calling out these corporations.

'Life sized Big Bird... not free': 20+ Marketplace mishaps from delusional sellers

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 08:00

Before online shopping, you had to buy from the stores around you, and just hope they had that thing you wanted. These days, the internet serves us hyper-specific ads, and whatever you want, you can get it in any color, from anywhere in the world. But if you want to give your money to someone closer to home, there are always online marketplaces, like Craigslist, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace. Facebook Marketplace in particular has gained a reputation or two. It's a great place to buy things---but you're going to have to overlook some crazy posts from sellers while you're looking for a deal.

Check out the utterly bizarre things people are selling online these days. There are always a few people who aren't selling something, but are actually asking for help with a chore. Oh, that massive box of gravel and dirt is "for sale"? No way buddy, you just want someone who will haul away hundreds of pounds of rocks for free. Other people are selling things that are a bit suspicious, like a sandwich counter they somehow got a hold of.

After you check out these hilarious marketplace mishaps, read about the woman who led the pettiest war ever against some of her neighbors

Tantalizing Tweets of the Fluffy Feline Variety Featuring Hard-Working and Purrfessional Cats Hustling From 9 to 5

LOL Cats - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 08:00

Hi, friends. Our cats have never known the value of a hard day's work, nor will they likely ever. That's okay though. When we adopted them, we took it upon ourselves to finance their luxurious lifestyles, even if it meant that we (my partner and I), would have to work a bit harder than we previously were to afford such a lifestyle for our cats.

Not all cats got our memo, for there is a whole Twitter page dedicated to cats at work. Could it be?? Did felines finally start contributing towards their expensive upbringing? We had to see it with our own eyeballs to truly believe it, but the proof is indeed in the pudding, folks. The professional cats we are featuring today have a wide array of experience and skills, some are vegetable and fruit vendor managers, office workers, construction operatives, and so much more. It seems that only the sky is the limit for our beloved and hard-working cats!

Corporate agency demands more detailed timesheets, worker charges all their bureaucratic tasks, gets time off as a result: 'They freaked out'

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 07:00

Dealing with needless paperwork and bureaucratic annoyances is just a part of working for an organization. Chances are the larger the organization, the more they're going to have a strong attachment to arduous processes and ever-increasing stacks of paperwork. There are other factors, too; depending on how controlling and pedantic each manager up the chain of command is, you might end up with more or less paperwork than the expected amount for your organization. If the biggest baddest boss loves process, you bet you'll be drowning in oceans of red tape.

Whatever the requirements of your specific organization, one rule will always hold true: The amount of paperwork you have to complete associated with your job will only ever increase, never decrease, ensuring that each task associated with your role only takes longer and requires more unproductive time and effort. This paperwork will increase in perpetuity until the entire organization eventually folds in on itself and another emerges… Thus completing the circle of life.

Black Cat In Bright Yellow Vest That Looks Like A Real Purrfessional Prompts Other Users To Share Their Fashionable Harness-Wearing Kitties

LOL Cats - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 07:00

We know… we know that cats don't like wearing things. They are purrfectly happy walking around as the day they were born. We could only dream of having their confidence! You try to put a hat on a cat - just for the joke - and the hat lasts maybe 5 seconds. Try to put fashionable glasses on a cat, and they will last even less than that. And if you manage to get your cat into a costume, be prepared to see some grumpy looks aimed your way.

And yet, even though we know that they don't like wearing stuff, we still keep trying to put it on them, because they just… look so adorable in things. And harnesses are not only adorable on cats, they are also practical if those itty bitty kitties want to go on walks. So, we try, and although most times, we do fail, sometimes… we manage, and our cats look fashionable as heck.

'No pay, no work': CEO informs employees they will no longer get commission on sales, then increases their workload, demanding they put in extra effort during 'tough times'

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 06:00

A job that is based on incentives and commissions is not that hard to comprehend. The better you do at your job–the more money you get out of it. Simple math. Especially when it comes to a sales job. The more you sell, the more you get paid. If an employer takes away the incentives and commissions, well, that is also simple math, no incentives to sell more–less sales.

This is something that the employer in this Reddit story should have realized before he decided to talk to his employees. One of the employees (OP, original poster) decided to share on Reddit the ropes of his boss's announcement. Basically, the company (a sales-based company, important to mention) was having financial struggles, and as a result, incentives and commissions would no longer be paid to employees. The question is, who's going to tell this guy that taking away the incentive for employees to make more sales is not going to help with the company's financial problems?

30 Hissterical Cat Memes To Remind You Why Feline Tumblr Is Such A Classic

LOL Cats - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 06:00

Oh, Tumblr. Do you guys remember the days? The good ol' days when the internet was so heckin' simple. The days when, instead of talking about politics, everyone was talking about how long that cat is. The days when, instead of thinking about various crises around the world, we just wanted to laugh at how grumpy that cat is. The days when we could long onto tumblr and laugh at funny cat memes without a single concern in the world.

Do you remember? Because we do. And maybe the internet hasn't changed as much as we have simply grown up. Doesn't matter. We miss it. And the internet being what it is - eternal - means that we can turn back the clock for a while and enjoy those same tumblr cat classics that used to make us laugh 10 years ago today.

Tone-deaf CEO casually brags about expensive family vacation in front of employees living paycheck-to-paycheck: '[He] drop[s] 15K…twice a year…on Disney cruises'

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 05:00

Imagine having the audacity to talk openly about the $15K you casually spend twice a year on luxury vacations for your kids while your employees are actively struggling financially. One has to wonder if that "hard-earned" money could have been used to keep your employees from having to live paycheck-to-paycheck.

This thread was posted to Reddit by u/Ranier_Wolfnight, who shared exactly how all this drama went down on a conference call. Evidently, at the beginning of said call, the CEO was attempting to break the ice when he talked about how he takes the whole family (including their nanny) on Disney cruises every year for each of his kids' birthdays. Meanwhile, later during the call, an employee in her fifties brought up the fact that a delayed error from her most recent paycheck resulted in her suffering from overdraft fees from her bank. Yikes! Not a great look for the CEO to have just gone on and on about those vacations as if it's some universal experience.

Employees outraged over company causally announcing shifting to a 42.5-hour workweek: 'They actually tried to spin this as a way to promote equity'

Fail Blog - Sun, 03/31/2024 - 04:00

No one wants to work more hours per week. For more money, maybe, but what about working more hours per week for the same amount of money? No thanks. Nowadays, a four-day workweek is becoming increasingly popular, with studies showing that employees are actually more productive when the workweek is reduced by a day. And it makes sense because an extra day off can help prevent burnout and improve overall work-life balance. In fact, a shorter work week could motivate employees to complete their work more efficiently if they know it'll allow them to have an extra day off. It's a win-win situation for both employees and employers. Regardless, this new workplace trend has still sparked a lot of debate.

For this unfortunate employee, her company has decided to do the opposite: increase their work week from 40 hours to 42.5 hours without a compensation change. Who in their right mind would causally accept that fate? Many people in the comments speculated that the company may be trying to phase employees out without having to do a mass layoff or pay severances, and well, it seems to be working.

'Unless he's [next in line], it really doesn't matter': Entitled wife tries to pull her husband's rank to cut the line, gets shut down by a sassy desk attendant

Fail Blog - Sat, 03/30/2024 - 16:00

If you're married to the biggest fish in the pond, does that make you a big fish too? The lady in our next story, learned very quickly that rank no longer matters when it's busy season at the gift-wrapping station; you're just another body in a long line of people waiting for the catch of the day.

For those of us who respect the queueing process–ie: those of us who will willingly line up and politely wait our turn–the order of the line is sacred. The first in line is the first one who gets helped by the customer service rep at the desk. Well, for the impatient and entitled wife in our next story, she thought she could waltz to the front of a very long line, pull rank with the front desk attendant, and be on her way faster than she could say, 'Do you know who my husband is?'

Well, well, well lil' Missy, at the Base Exchange gift-wrapping station where u/NancyLouMarine was working, you're not just 'somebody's wife', you're a nobody who refused to take a number and wait your turn. Scroll for the entire tale of ruthless manners and satisfying entitlement squashing.

Update: 'It was enough to fire him immediately': Food hall managers keep kids and "fancy bigwigs" waiting outside in 90 degree heat

Fail Blog - Sat, 03/30/2024 - 14:00

Dining halls serve hundreds or thousands of people each day, so keeping things running smoothly is paramount.

If you've ever wanted to waste a lazy afternoon, spend some time watching videos of how professional chefs make lunch for the masses. It's fascinating to see the processes behind budgeting for the ingredients, then cooking a massive meal for hundreds of people. Instead of cooking for just one person, lunch chefs have to cook for hundreds, sometimes only with one or two people to help them out. They need the food to come out perfect every time, and to finish cooking just in time for the kids.

This person isn't a chef at a food hall, but they are a cashier, which comes with its own challenges. They're responsible for keeping track of kids from a nearby summer camp. With three workers, it's not too difficult to keep a count of the kids to ensure that no one has to spend too much time in the brutal summer heat. But with just one worker… things start to fall to pieces.

'Oh, the look she gave me': Entitled bartender gets her comeuppance, salty customer tosses pennies on the floor

Fail Blog - Sat, 03/30/2024 - 13:00

99.99% of bartenders do not deserve this treatment, but this one will be satisfying for those of you who have ever encountered that 0.01% of folks who deserve their comeuppance.

As someone who has often been mistreated by bartenders at noisy establishments that favor a more alpha male presence, I certainly enjoyed hearing about an entitled bartender getting called out for treating an innocent customer like a complete and total nuisance. This person was on the clock on a quiet night and was speaking on the phone. At first, like any patient customer, the Redditor assumed it was work-related or perhaps an emergency and politely waited for the bartender to wrap up the call. When it was finally the customer's turn to be served, the bartender was condescending, domineering, and intimidating. The final straw was the eye-roll after the bartender snickered at the customer's order, resulting in the Redditor ultimately just asking for a Coca-Cola. By the time they got the check, the Redditor had enough of this person and decided to use exact change to give her a hard time.
