'My husband picked up a shift at work on our wedding night': 20+ Unforgettably bad weddings

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 12:00

Maybe you can't recall the best wedding you've ever been to, but the worst one probably comes to mind instantly.

Every couple wants their wedding to be memorable in the right way. They want guests to gush over the decorations, talk about how delicious the food is, and dance late in the night until their feet are sore. It's supposed to be fun… but a lot of weddings end up being so much work that the guests hardly get to enjoy themselves.

A common factor seems to be the brides and grooms who plan the ceremony themselves, versus the couples who rely heavily on their family and friends to plan the event. For example, some couples have one person who is way more interested in the event than the other. That bride will be left pulling all the weight of planning the wedding when her partner claims they "don't care what she does." So the bride will enlist her bridesmaids to start making the decorations or making calls to the venue or caterers.

Others wait until the last minute to enlist their friends and family. Things are bound to fall through the cracks! More than 600 people shared the stories of the worst weddings they've ever been to. Our hearts go out to the people who admitted their own wedding was the worst… Maybe it's time to plan a vow renewal and try again!

Employees conspire against annoying coworker over CEO's attention: 'Four of us plant our computers in those magic four seats [next to the boss]'

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 11:00

Note to self: never be the person everyone rolls their eyes at in the office. We're talking about the person who says whatever the boss would like them to say and would throw someone else under the bus in a second if it meant they got extra points in the boss's book. We're talking about the guy who is always scheduling unnecessary meetings just to make it seem like he's busy. Going out of your way for brownie points may impress an egomaniac, but it's always how to annoy and frustrate your coworkers. The best way to appease both parties in this situation is to just do your job well and read the room.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/DuckDuckWaffle99,  who showed us what happens when you annoy your coworkers so much that they start actively working against your agenda to be the best in the boss's book. What's even more amusing is that some folks in the comments section called the Redditor out for being just like their coworker. Trying to compete with your coworker over your boss's attention essentially means that you too want their attention and are no better than them.

Professional Home Inspectors and Recent Homebuyers Explain How Bad is 'BAD' for Inspection Results

"An inspection report with 50+ items is actually pretty typical for a home built in the late '70s."

‘He traded his parents for you’: Gen X couple takes drastic action after the entitled runaway teenager renting a room upstairs refuses to wash his dishes

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 09:00

When you decide to live with a roommate or a housemate, you're rolling the dice a little bit. Without knowing for sure how a person acts behind closed doors, it's nearly impossible to vet a prospective housemate for good manners, shared space etiquette, and cleanliness standards.

However, if things like 'cleanliness' and 'mutual independence' are important to you, don't be like the Gen X couple in our next story who got stuck being a runaway 18-year-old's new mommy and daddy.

Due to the desperately high cost of living these days, a couple decided to rent out the room upstairs to a potential roommate. Knowing that they'd be cohabitating with whoever moved in, they graciously offered the use of the kitchen, living room, and all other common areas–big mistake! Once they realized the kid that moved in was a total slob and an entitled loser, all bets were off.

Scroll for the entire story of how this couple took drastic action to uproot the parasitic man-child that moved in upstairs.

Trucker accosted by irate driver who demands to speak to their boss: 'I kind of smirked at him and told him... he wouldn't like what my boss would have to say'

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 08:00

This truck driver couldn't believe what another driver was upset about. At least they had the ultimate loophole for getting out of almost any work-related scenario.

The trucker in this story was driving their 18-wheeler through Texas when they encountered an angry driver. As a trucker, you have the unique privilege of getting to blow that extra-loud horn whenever someone bothers you. A regular car horn is a little loud, but the horn on an 18-wheeler can be heard for miles. It must be so satisfying to startle any bad driver with a blast of sound.

However, this trucker soon realized that the driver was irrationally upset about the horn honking. The driver started screaming and pounding on the door of the truck. Then, he started doing something no truck driver wants: taking photos of the license plate in order to call their boss and complain. That's why so many trucks have those stickers on them that give out a phone number to report bad driving. It's meant to report bad driving, not excessive horn honking!

Company suffers massive financial hardship after forcing out irreplaceable worker: 'The [department] racked up eight-figure losses'

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 07:00

Usually, it's wise to have multiple persons capable of maintaining the continuity of the important areas of your organization. This means not having a single employee who knows essential company processes, secrets, codes, and passwords that can't otherwise be found, learned, or replicated by someone else. If you happen to have one of these workers in your organization or someone who is otherwise essential to the operation of your business, you will do well to treat them well. It would certainly be a bad idea to try and push them out of your business over some petty power struggle without first orchestrating a transferral of their responsibilities.

Well, that's basically what happened to this worker who handled the international accounts for this logistics operation. Their relationships and methods were known only to them, so when their petty employer tried to force them out. When no one was able to replicate their methods, the department suffered "eight-figure losses".

‘That is a complete violation of my privacy’: Boss spies on employee on sick leave to make sure he is actually sick and not on vacation

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 06:00

It might be hard to come to terms with the concept, but there should be total and complete trust between a manager and their employees. If a manager is unable to trust that their employees are there to do the best they can, then maybe managing is not the best thing for them. Not to say there aren't any employees who take advantage of a job, but if an employee feels like they are not trusted and are being observed with every step they take, they are definitely not going to stay at that job for long.

Especially when it comes to taking sick days. Of course, there are employees who take sick days even when they are not sick, but that doesn't give employers the excuse to come to their employees' homes and check for themselves, which is pretty much what the boss in this Reddit story did. The boss thought that her employee took sick days just so he could go on vacation with another employee, which led her to think it was a good idea to go to that person's house and spy on them. Is that even legal?

Boss forces assistant to remove headset in the office, she maliciously complies and plays audio at full blast: 'She nagged at me in front of the whole office'

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 05:00

Be careful what you wish for, boss!

It's common for bosses to have strange rules and regulations; nine times out of ten, they are tied to a bizarre superiority/inferiority complex. However, we often find that bosses misinterpret perfectly normal behavior as disrespectful, and that's when this becomes an issue. It's rarely insubordination; in fact, most of the time, employees are so laser-focused on their tasks and responsibilities that they do not have their boss's emotions at the top of their minds.

This boss was annoyed by having to walk three feet over to her assistant's desk to ask her a question. Her assistant had her headset on, listening to an audio transcript of an important meeting for a project. The boss called her name several times to no response and then proceeded to yell at her in front of the whole office. But she didn't stop there. She then immediately enforced a new rule that no one was allowed to wear headsets in the office anymore. Well, the assistant needed to listen to that transcript in order to complete their work, so naturally, some well-deserved malicious compliance ensued.

'You made your bed...': Company sends random dude a client's information via email, dude responds by clicking 'cancel' on important appointment

Sat, 03/16/2024 - 04:00

Social media sites and communication apps are readily accessible. Oftentimes it feels impossible to keep up with them all. You may feel at times that you are unable to keep up with them all. Therefore, you might occasionally need to compartmentalize and determine what is more important and what can wait till later in order to be informed and not miss any important information. But in addition to the countless texts and emails you receive daily, what would happen if you started receiving dozens of emails every day for years that were intended for someone else?

The story that follows is a small-scale revenge story involving a man who got unwanted mail from an international company containing a customer's private information. The Original Poster (OP) initially addressed the situation in a cool, collected, and mature manner. But after numerous attempts to come to an understanding with the company fell through, he ultimately decided to take matters into his own hands. He seized the chance as soon as it presented itself. Having said that, make sure to read the story below if you're interested in finding out how OP shocked the business by getting even in the most creative way imaginable! And remember to read the story of the mother who asks that her daughter reimburse her for the $700,000 that she spent on her expensive upbringing when you're done!

Karen outraged over neighbor's motorcycle, now entire neighborhood has to deal with motorcyclist's petty revenge: '[He] revs his engine for a few minutes, then speeds away in the most obnoxious way possible'

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 16:00

A Karen neighbor got into a feud with her neighbor who owned a motorcycle. According to the Original Poster (OP), who is a fellow neighbor and an observer of this feud, the whole neighborhood is fed up with Karen's behavior. Karen is well-known in the neighborhood for always complaining, as Karen's do, but this time she went too far. She was so upset over her neighbor's motorcycle, who, according to the OP, is pretty respectful with it, that she tried to run him down in the neighborhood.

Now, the motorcyclist is getting his petty revenge. He drives over to Karen's house every day, revs his engine super loud, and then speeds off, just out of spite. Everyone agrees that his actions are justified, as no one likes Karen either. But still, no one wants to hear his loud engine, especially in the middle of the night.

‘Overtime pay for zero work? No problem!’: Employee uses overtime to read a book, leading demanding boss to never request they stay late again

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 15:00

Different jobs have different ways of measuring productivity. You might have a certain quota of assignments you have to do during the day, or maybe get to a certain amount of sales. Or, in some cases, your productivity might be measured simply by how many hours you have been on the job, and not by the quality of your work.

This preference for quantity over quality is something that I personally do not agree with. I think if an employee gets the job done, they shouldn't be further kept at their desk for no apparent reason, which is why I felt for the employee in this Reddit story. This employee shared that their boss has repeatedly asked them to stay late at the job, even when they had nothing to do. One day, when the boss came up to OP (original poster) and again asked them to stay a couple more hours just because, OP decided he would use that time for something worthwhile. So OP pulled out a book and read a novel while waiting they got paid overtime. Safe to say, the boss was quite surprised to see what OP was up to…

'Get off the internet, I need to use the phone': 20+ Relatable memes for Gen Xers

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 14:00

If you remember when television sets turned off at night, you're probably in Generation X (or older). That's right, before televisions had a bazillion channels and endless entertainment to watch, TVs would turn off each night. They'd stop broadcasting altogether, and since there weren't that many channels to begin with, your TV-watching experience was just done for that day.

One person mentioned how you used to have to adjust the TV's rabbit ears to get it to work. This is another thing that would be unimaginable to today's youngsters, Gen Alpha. The televisions of today are a half-inch think and hang flat on our walls. Back then, though, if your station wasn't tuning it, you'd have to move the metal prongs on top of the set until it tuned it. These TVs were big bulky dudes: you needed two or three people to lift them, and since they were so large, people just kept them on their floors, or had entertainment systems to store them in.

Check out all of these all-too-relatable memes for the people who lived through the "rabbit ears on the TV" era. Then, this teen had a really great idea for increasing their curfew by an extra hour

'If there are adult diapers, why aren't there adult strollers?': 25+ unintelligent thoughts people actually said out loud

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 13:00

Has anyone had one of those horrendous "did I just say that out loud" realizations? If you haven't, you must be some sort of genius because the rest of us common folk have likely felt foolish and unintelligent in public settings countless times.

Personally speaking, I have vivid memories of being in sixth grade and being called on to answer a question when I was on the verge of falling asleep and saying something barely intelligible that resulted in uproarious laughter from my classmates. I guess I kept them entertained…

Flash forward at least ten years later and running into a friend whose parents recently got divorced. All I remember telling myself was "Don't bring up the divorce" on a loop until we were actually conversing and I impulsively asked how their parents were doing like a complete fool.

Having gone through these situations more times than I'd like to admit, I will always try to retain some semblance of compassion for other folks when they slip up and say something completely off in public. These folks revealed their worst slip-ups via this thread on r/AskReddit. Keep scrolling below for their anecdotes to feel better about yourself. '[I'm] just shocked she would just let herself in': Hotel guest gets shocking surprise during trip abroad

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 12:00

Let this person's story be a cautionary tale for any traveler

Do you use your hotel's safe while traveling? For a lot of people, they don't think they have anything valuable enough to store inside it, so they just don't use it. Other people use them every time in order to protect their wallets, keys, jewelry, and other valuables.

This person was startled to learn that a hotel maid may have been trying to steal from them. In fact, it seems like the maid stole their money right in front of them! The original poster, u/Alert_Astronaut4901, writes that they had this bizarre exchange with a room cleaner while on vacation abroad. The original poster was in their hotel room relaxing when the maid knocked. I guess this traveler didn't have any kind of deadbolt or chain lock to use, so the person knocking just decided to enter. The traveler then found themself in an awkward situation with the cleaner

While this vacationer seemed to think it was a "misunderstanding," commenters told them that this maid probably had much worse intentions than they originally believed. You can check out the full post, as well as the warnings from commenters, down below.

After that, read about these times that kids were hilarious little troublemakers, like one kid with freshly trimmed ½ inch bangs who insisted their hair just "fell out."

'[She] was the absolute worst': Teacher embarrassed in front of entire class during satisfying guest presentation

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 11:00

Who didn't dream of seeing their least favorite teacher get their comeuppance?

You may be 12 years old or you may be 42, but the truth of the matter is that no one forgets that one unnecessarily cruel teacher. This, of course, would be the so-called "educator" who didn't seem to enjoy any aspect of their job with the exception of disciplining children and asserting their power over their students. This would be that teacher who pre-judged you on Day One and who never let you prove yourself as a student or person. This would be the teacher who deserved to be confronted for their bad behavior but who probably never was.

Usually, these Miss Trunchbull-esque figures are institutions at their school and are somehow immune from punishment despite the large chunk of the student body that prays for their demise. However, every so often, there are small wins. Here, we have a student who volunteered to be a part of a guest presentation in front of the whole class along with their teacher. The presentation was about sanitation and cleanliness, and let's just say that it ended with the teacher getting chastised in front of the whole group for being unsanitary. Talk about a well-deserved embarrassing moment!

'You owe me...': Mother demands 18-year-old daughter pay her back $700,000 for expensive upbringing

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 10:00

Typically, parents want to give their kids everything they could possibly want—or, more precisely, everything they need to be successful and happy. But what if your parents kept a record of every single expense they ever incurred on your behalf? Do you have to pay them back, or are they supposed to shoulder the cost of your upbringing?

The account that follows is the story of an astonished girl. On her eighteenth birthday, the Original Poster (OP) received a lengthy and detailed document detailing every expense incurred on her behalf since the day she was born. The costs included everything from meals to housing to the hospital fee upon OP's birth… Over the years, OP has handed over thousands of dollars to her mother because, rather than uprooting and leaving to lead an independent life, she chose to stay under her mother's watchful eye for a period of no less than three years before making the bold choice of venturing out on her own.

Having said that, be sure to read the story below if you're interested in learning more about the specifics of what happened between OP and her mother as well as OP's current situation! When you're done, don't forget to read about the entitled couple that tried to trick an unsuspecting passenger into handing over her business tickets on the plane!

'She wanted to pay cash over the phone': 20+ Senseless souls who left the people around them speechless

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 08:00

Even the smartest person in the room occasionally has a memory lapse. It happens to all of us at some point. However, there are people who seem chronically out of the loop, catastrophically dim, or unreasonably unprepared for daily life. We love these people all the same, but their off-the-wall remarks still stick with us.

One Redditor who goes by u/_FrankAbagnale asked for people to share the "dumbest question someone legitimately asked you," and more than 31k people replied. Some people were in for a startling awakening, like the woman who wondered what meat was in her turkey sandwich. We hate to break it to you, but…

Another person made the mistake of trying to pay for something over the phone using cash. Well… cash doesn't quite work that way, but thanks for calling! And of course, the cashiers of the world have fielded many an odd question. Shoppers have all sorts of intriguing questions about their groceries or other products. Cashiers have to have mountains of patience to deal with inane questions day in and day out.

Speaking of people who aren't the brightest bulbs, this customer insisted she needed camping equipment… but she kept trying to buy it at a store that wasn't yet open for business

Kid breaks his phone at school rather than letting it be confiscated, now the parents want the school to pay: 'You better pay for my son's phone!'

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 07:00

Taking responsibility for your own actions is important and one of the first major lessons that a young kid should learn from their parents. Unfortunately, a bunch of kids were never taught this lesson—or if the seeds were planted… they never took root. When these kids grow up and have kids of their own, predictably the new parents are not the most reliable at teaching their own children a lesson that they themselves never learned, leading to a new generation of entitled people in a vicious self-perpetuating cycle.

Teachers have the joy of watching this take place in real-time, when the parents of a badly behaved student need to get involved and, after only a short conversation, they can easily tell where the behavior came from.

In this case, this student was responsible for destroying his own phone when staff at the school tried to confiscate it from him. Of course, it ended up that the entitled child had entitled parents who weren't

'He lied in order to get me fired': Hotel clerk refuses housekeeping services for demanding guest, guest attempts to get him fired in response

Fri, 03/15/2024 - 06:00

It is completely understandable to want to complain about a poorly done service. When someone pays for a service, they should be left with a satisfied feeling, and not feeling like they have been mistreated or wronged. What is not completely understandable, is people resorting to lying when something does not go their way. If you are not happy about the way things are done, feel free to complain, but what good does it do if you lie? The only thing it does is damage your credibility.

That is why I don't get the hotel guest in this Reddit story. He called the front desk complaining that his room had not been cleaned, which is honestly a valid complaint. Then, even after the front desk clerk explained what could be done, the guest was still unsatisfied and said he would call corporate. Okay, still a valid request. After a while, corporate calls the clerk and tells them that a complaint has been filed about them since the guest said they yelled at him and hung up the phone… Now that is where the guest lost me. Does he not remember that these types of phone calls are usually being recorded? What good does lying do?
