Laid off truck driver finds a better job, old employer panics asking him to come back: 'The boss can't find another driver'

Fail Blog - Fri, 05/03/2024 - 07:00

Sometimes, when you mess around too much, you find out the hard way that there are very real consequences associated with your actions. It's all well and good for you to do as you'd like and act as you please, but when it comes to facing the consequences you'd better come to terms with it.

That's what this employer is going to have to do when they realize that their driver went ahead and found another job (with better pay) after being told that his job was no longer available when he tried to come back after their usual seasonal winter layoffs. They had likely gone for someone with less experience or with shaky qualifications in an attempt to save a quick buck, but when that didn't pan out, they panicked and tried to bring the drive back urgently to maintain continuity of operations. What… did they just think he would wait around for them after being told there was no work available?

The silver lining and the lesson here is that it's easy to get complacent with your routine and forget that you could very easily make moves to change your life for the better. While it stinks to be out of work, especially when you're in a position that you couldn't be without it,  you almost have to be thankful for situations like this for giving you the push you need to make a better life for yourself.

In need of cash, with a slight gap before his new job was scheduled to start, and with some cunning advice from readers, the driver is planning on driving for his old employer until his new job starts, at which time he'll either ghost them or give his notice. Sounds like a win all around.

These pint-sized fluffballs may be small, but their cuteness packs a serious punch. Rental car company loses nearly $80,000,000 in business after trying to rip off a frequent customer for an extra $70: 'My company won't be renting from you again'

Fail Blog - Fri, 05/03/2024 - 06:00

Much like the used car sales industry, the rental car biz can be a little shady. Like so many industries that take advantage of their customers being stranded, rental car companies are known to try and rip off their customers for every cent–however, one diligently vengeful traveling employee saw to it that his continued business was far more valuable than a tack-on fee.

After renting a car for nearly a week while away on business, this traveling worker returned to the rental car lot to return the car and finalize some paperwork. He noticed an undisclosed $70 fee added to his bill stating that he hadn't returned it with gas in the tank, which was a bold-faced lie. The traveler insisted that the fee was a mistake, but the VP of the company wouldn't yield on charging the fee.

So in retaliation (and after years of patience), the traveling employee blacklisted the rental car company from his multinational company's trusted travel list, effectively causing them to lose MILLIONS in annual business.

'Already seeing why there's a high turnover rate': Manager disrespects student worker, pressures him to stay late twice in his first week

Fail Blog - Fri, 05/03/2024 - 05:00

Hiring a student worker means you have to respect their class schedule. Unfortunately, most managers not only refuse to do this, but they also often hire students because they feel like they can easily manipulate them into complying with their ridiculous demands. We suppose the logic is that because they have minimal experience in the working world, they can be more easily pressured than the average jaded and disgruntled worker. You know what we mean by the latter… the guy who looks like he's been working for twice as long as he actually has been and who has bags under his eyes for days. We apologize if we're describing you too accurately. Do not worry. We are describing ourselves as well.

But we all remember what it's like to have a job for the first time and to realize that your manager is taking advantage. This student was asked to stay late twice within his first week on the job and came to understand why it's never a good idea to work at any establishment with that high a turnover rate. Keep scrolling below for the full story. For more, check out this post about an employee who called out their "forgetful" boss in front of the entire team.

Biker shuts down the neighborhood Karen using 7 motorcycles to claim every parking spot in the apartment complex: ‘Yeah, all 7 of my motorcycles'

Fail Blog - Fri, 05/03/2024 - 04:00

Have you ever come home from a long day and circled your apartment complex for parking for 30 minutes? And sometimes, to add fuel to the fire, you see an 'available' parking spot from afar only to get closer and see a motorcycle double parked. What gives! Nothing enrages a person quite like the search for parking, which is why the biker in our next story was such a considerate neighbor–although, the Karen next door didn't see it that way

The biker lived with a roommate who also rode a motorcycle, so the duo would often share a regularly sized parking spot in the lot so that they wouldn't steal more than one space that a regular car could fit into. That's some neighborly consideration, right? However, the neighborhood Karen was peeved that the bikers were 'reserving' the best spots in the lot for themselves and insisted that they don't park two bikes in one spot anymore.

Okay, lady, whatever you say!

Scroll for the entire story of how one biker used 7 motorcycles (and 7 parking spots) to make a point to a nitpicking Karen.

‘I heard meowing, and then this tiny kitten appeared’: Hooman Shares Wholesome Before and After Pics of Stray Cat Who Showed Up at Their Door, Adopting Fluffy Feline and Giving It a Furrever Home

LOL Cats - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 20:00

This wholesome story reminds me so much of when I first found Spock, my own fluffy feline. I had just come home from work, and was about to unlock my door when I heard a small, faint 'mew'. It was so quiet, barely inaudible, that it didn't even sound like a proper meow. I thought it might be a bird, but as soon as my keys turned in the lock, I heard it again, and being the animal lover I am, I went to investigate. There he was, in all his tiny splendor… Spock. He was next to my car and looked up at me with big adorable eyes. I fell in love and took him in immediately. He didn't resist and was such a cuddle bug, even from the very beginning. The sweetest cat in the world. Now, he's a menace, but that's another story.

One hooman shared wholesome before and after pictures of a stray kitten they had found outside their doorstep. Scroll down to read all about it, and then check out these ferociously feisty feline memes to add more joy to your day.

Boss wants to cut marketing worker's pay to save money: 'I’d go from about $1000 a month to $200'

Fail Blog - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 15:00

Generally, in your working life, you might expect that, as you gain experience, skills, and knowledge, you'll be making more money… throughout your career as well as your time in a singular role.

Where you might not be too surprised and even expect to be rejected a request for a raise or two, you'd never expect to have your boss approach you telling you that they're slashing your pay in order to get "more bang for their buck." Openly telling you that they're going to be saving money solely at your literal expense. While you might appreciate them for saying the (usually) quiet part out loud, you're not going to appreciate the disrespect and the hit to your paycheck.

This boss had the audacity to approach their marketing coordinator to tell them that she was slashing their pay. They shared their account of events with this popular online workplace community, venting their frustrations. The only silver lining here is that at least it was their side gig…

'I don't work for you...': Man struggles to tend to family crisis after wife's opportunistic friends move in with them and demand a series of unreasonable requests

Fail Blog - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 14:00

When you marry someone, you also marry their family. Nobody warns you, though, of the large network of friends you 'receive' as a direct result of your connection.

The story that follows describes the frustrations of a spouse dealing with his wife's 'friends'. The original poster (OP) finds himself in an extremely challenging predicament. His wife's friends are now just as much of a concern to him as his own, so he must entertain them in addition to devoting all of his time and attention to his issues of concern. Regretfully, OP is currently dealing with health concerns in his family and finds it extremely difficult to entertain folks he doesn't even like. As a result, OP posted a long list of things the entitled friends had done to annoy him on Reddit in an effort to unwind!

So, be sure to read the story below if you're interested in learning more about how the entitled friend used OP! Finally, don't forget to read the story of the part-time worker who covers for a full-time colleague and gets disciplined by his superior!

Cat Vs Potatoes: The Hissterical Mistake, A Husband Made Purrfectly Caught On Camera By His Wife (Video)

LOL Cats - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 14:00

Thank goodness Thursday is almost over and then it is just one more short day left until the weekend makes landfall. We can all do with a break by this point in the week, and none more so than these feline pawrents who fell victim to the clawminal antics of their facetious feline. An all too familiar occurrence. However, this specific case of clawminality is a rather unique one. For instead of shredding the couch, climbing the curtains or knocking over the prize china, this cat decided to create its very own game using the spherical shape of a bag of potatoes.

Once the sack was timidly left on the counter overnight, all this funny feline had to do was make a hole and the game was on. By morning, his pawrents awoke to a house filled with cartoon like traps laid all over the floor in potato form. It is safe to say that the husband who left the potatoes within reach of his feline fur baby will not be making that mistake again.

'What concert costs 45 cents? 50 Cent featuring Nickelback!': Top Dad Jokes of the Week (May 2, 2024)

Fail Blog - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 13:00

It's not easy being a father… sometimes, cheesy humor is the best that you can do.

And let's be honest: after your childhood and teenage years of being constantly embarrassed by literally anything your dad says, perhaps your adult years should be about appreciating all the typically eye-roll-inducing moments. Because whether or not we wanted to admit it when we were kids, every so often, dad jokes will make you involuntarily guffaw. Even if you try to stop yourself from laughing because you're trying to have a serious conversation with your father, a well-timed, mildly cringeworthy comment can cut through all that seriousness. That's the special power of the Dad Joke.

Keep scrolling below for this week's collection of top Dad Jokes, according to these folks on Reddit. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments section as well. For more content like this, check out these funny work memes to get you through Friday.

20 Hilarious And Heartwarming Pics Of Cats With Better Jobs Than Yours To Remind You Who’s Boss

LOL Cats - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 13:00

Sometimes we need to be put in our place as hoomans. We have rather obviously developed past what is reasonably good for our species, and most certainly gotten too big for our britches. So today we are letting our facetious felines take over and demonstrate how much better they are than us at our jobs. A display that only goes to show that cats are purrfectly capable of taking over and running the world, they just do not feel like it at this present moment.

From the football fanatical feline who is next inline for the NFL draft, to the chef cat who has taken feline baking to new heights, to the senior mouser cat surpassing the effectiveness of any kind of hooman made mousetrap, to the feline doctor who is likely more concerned with the treat you will give him after your check-up than your medical results. These clever cats put us all to shame, and we could all stand to rise to the stellar example they have set out for us.

'I bought $40 wire elf ears. I have worn them zero times': 25+ Times people spent good money on terrible products

Fail Blog - Thu, 05/02/2024 - 12:00

We all make a few big purchases in our lifetime that we end up regretting. Some people do this as teenagers, which makes sense because at that age you're new to budgeting and knowing the price of things. When you get that first paycheck from your retail job, it's hard not to blow it all at once!

The people of r/AskReddit shared their stories of the "absolute worst purchase" they've ever made, and there's a wide variety of items that people regret getting. For some people, buying a new vehicle (or jet ski in one dude's case) was a poor decision. The common wisdom that you shouldn't buy new vehicles since they instantly lose value still holds true. Instead, it's a good investment to purchase a used vehicle. But for people with a bunch of money burning a hole in their pockets, a new vehicle looked irresistible.

Other people shared that they wasted their money on technology that aged quickly. It's easy to buy the newest gadget… but infuriating to watch it go on sale for 50% off just weeks later. Live and learn!

Next up, check out these absolutely frightfully flavored pizza pies, like the dude who managed to put 19 toppings on a single pizza pie (for no extra charge!).
