‘It takes two to tango…’: New employee gives a seasoned employee a dose of her own medicine and bravely defies the strict company hierarchy

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 06:00

In the office, there is a real hierarchy that must be treated seriously and with the highest regard. How well you get along with those at the top of the pyramid may have a favorable or negative influence on your time at work. But what would happen if you were forced to engage in a direct confrontation with the company's highest-ranking employee? Do you give in to her demands at every turn, or do you refuse to relent or back down?

The story that follows tells the tale of a clever employee. Recently, the Original Poster (OP) started working in a new corporate position. Nilly, the office secretary, was resolved to assert her authority as soon as OP arrived at the office. However, when OP recognized how serious the situation was and understood what Nelly was attempting to achieve, he gave Nilly a dose of her own medicine. He held out for the perfect opportunity, and when it did come along, he seized it with all of his might.

That being said, if you're curious about the details of what transpired between OP and Nilly, be sure to read the story below! And when you're done, don't forget to check out the story about the new manager who foils his employee's arrangement with the previous boss, only to discover that the previous arrangement really benefited the company!

Heroic Cat Owner Gets Tased After High-Speed Chase Getting Ill Senior Feline To Emergency Vet

LOL Cats - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 06:00

How far would you go to help your cat? How much risk would you be willing to take to save your cat's life if it was at risk? Would you be willing to get into a high speed chase with police officers, then get tased, arrested and fined for it? Because Timothy Butler was willing to do it all. We, here at ICanHas, hear about all kinds of sweet cat rescue stories all the time, but we have never come across a story like this one.

According to Crazed, Butler was driving through Minnesota at 85 miles per hour when the cops spotted him and the chase started. And it was one heck of  a chase, with the cops attempting everything they could to stop Butler, but nothing did. Eventually, he pulled into the parking lot in front of the vet's office, with Mr. Fluffles in a crate in his hand.

The cops shouted at Butler the moment he got out of the car, but he did not care, so they tased him - right before he got to the door. Still, despite being on the ground, Butler's highest priority was saving his cat, and he begged the officers around him, explaining that he had a cat emergency. He apologized and explained that his 18-year-old cat was having spasms and that his mind was "clouded by his urgent need to get his cat to the vet."

'You've ruined everyone's flight': Top Karens of the Week (February 27, 2024)

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 05:00

Leave it to the Karens of the world to disrupt your in-flight experience, make a scene at a restaurant, and battle over your rightful parking spot. That's just a brief glimpse at some of this past week's top Karens, according to the subreddit r/F***Youkaren. It seems that although many of us have been staying inside this winter and pretending like it's the weather that's keeping us from having social interactions, the Karens have remained relentless. After all, what do they stand for if not to make everything about themselves?

Whether you're traveling by car or plane, whether you're working out at the gym or eating food at a restaurant, a Karen could pop up out of nowhere to ruin your entire experience. Call it main character syndrome, call it narcissism. Whatever it is, these folks need to learn that when you're enclosed in a public space with other people, the best course of action is to mind your own business and keep to yourself. Of course, the actual Karens out there who could benefit from this advice aren't reading this right now; they're probably yelling at some customer service representative somewhere.

‘Don’t bother coming in to work tomorrow': Employee asks manager for missing tax documents from her paycheck, manager responds by firing employee

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 04:00

As a child, thinking about becoming an adult and having to deal with things like taxes is genuinely terrifying. As an adult, well, it's actually still pretty terrifying. It will forever be a mystery why we don't have classes at school that teach us how to deal with these sorts of things. But somehow, we learn the ropes, and with each year we grow up we get to learn more and more about adult life.

The manager in this Reddit post still has some lessons to learn. The person who wrote the post (OP) told Reddit about a problem he was having with his wife's boss, named Sarah. For several months, Sarah has been paying the wife through Venmo, which is obviously not good for tax documentation. When OP reached out to Sarah to ask her for some documents that he needed, Sarah straight up admitted that she didn't want to deal with paying taxes on her employees. If admitting to tax fraud is not enough, she then proceeded to fire OP's wife.

'You put zero tip and I can see that upfront': Customer's order gets held up for hours after shopper decides to teach them a lesson about tipping

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 18:00

One customer was 'held responsible for their actions' by a full-service shopper who felt it was their mission in life to teach them a lesson. What was this lesson about? Well, tipping.

Look, people are awful, I get it. I was a waitress once for many, many years, where I met people from all walks of life. Some were kind, some were petty, and some were downright entitled human beings. Working in the service industry really gets your hatred for humanity going, but still, by law, you don't need to tip. Should you tip? Absolutely. Is it your choice to tip? Also yes.

Scroll down to read about the approach this shopper decided to take, and how it all played out in the end. It all began with a rude message that the customer received after placing an order. Below you can find out what it said. Then, check out this engineering firm that lost big time when one of the manager's decisions to punish an employee by taking them off a project went badly.

Homeowner Argues With Their Feisty Feline Over the Use of Shelf in New House, Cat Wins in Hissterical Reddit Thread

LOL Cats - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 18:00

Your house, your belongings, and even your soul belong to your cat. We don't make the rules… they do. It's no secret that cats run the world, and maybe it's just time we sit back and accept it.

At the same time, we want our plants to survive… Is it too much to ask that they stay away from them? Apparently, it is. This cat owner took to Reddit, seeking advice on how to keep their fluffy feline off a certain landing in their house where they wanted to place plants. We scrolled through the comments and sure enough, most people laughed at the question. How silly… to think that you can remotely control your cat. But then some responses were actually quite helpful, and even though others were giggling, they were giggling with the owner, not at them. Big difference. Scroll down to read all about it, and then check out these goofy cat expressions in the form of hooman funnies.

'He had it coming': Resident gets car towed from neighbor's driveway after parking it there for days, resulting in $3000 fines

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 17:00

What does one should do when a strange car all of a sudden gets parked in one's private parking? Should they look for the car's owner and get them to move it? Should they hold tight and see if the owner will simply move their car on their own? Or should they get the car towed right then and there and let the owner deal with the rest?

The Redditor who wrote this petty revenge story tried a few of the ways listed above when their neighbor decided to park their car in the Redditor's driveway. OP (original poster) first tried to give the neighbor a chance to move it, but when two days went by and the car stayed put, OP had the car towed. That action revealed just how much the neighbor will have to pay to get their car back, since they have several unpaid parking tickets and other debts.

'You need to get me back online': Remote employee left with no internet at home after assuming company pays for it, then gets fired for blaming tech support

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 16:00

Instant karma is the best kind of karma. Nobody wants to see destiny play out slowly over time… We want karma now.

One remote worker called up tech support on a Friday, just as the IT employee was about to head home. The worker was livid that their internet wasn't working, and they completely flipped out on the poor IT employee who hadn't done anything wrong. The worker explained that their internet wasn't working, and demanded IT fix it right that instant. After a couple of questions, the problem became clear… the IT Helpdesk that this worker had called didn't provide their internet services. If the internet didn't work, that wasn't IT's problem. It was the worker's, who refused to accept that they would go the entire weekend without internet. As it turned out, the worker had canceled their internet provider after assuming their company would pay for the services. Oops, guess you have no internet… ever? The IT employee explained that the worker needed to renew their internet with a provider, but that's not what ended up happening. Scroll down for the full story, then check out this engineering firm that lost a huge client after management punished one employee. Gotta love karma.

'None of your candidates enjoy it': Candidate declines one way interview as part of job screening process, leading to dispute with HR

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 15:00

One fed-up candidate who had the privilege of job searching while they still had a job snapped back at an HR representative over text after discovering that a 'one-way interview' was part of the screening process. What exactly is a one-way interview? Well, it can vary but it's usually a brief video recording that job candidates send potential employers to aid them in their screening process. You typically answer a few pre-selected interview questions. Awkward, right? Demeaning almost.

This candidate was not having it… They promptly told HR that they should reconsider this process as it was degrading, to which HR replied that many of their candidates enjoyed it! Yeah right. People who need a job will say anything… I mean, if you're left with two choices, one being telling the truth and two being putting food on the table, it's a no-brainer.

Next up is a story about a micromanaging CEO who flip-flopped between calling an employee a remote worker and an on-site worker. It led to a hilarious dispute where the employee refused to come to work.

'I put in my 2 weeks. And this is where it got fun': General manager reprimands employee over 'neutral' workplace review

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 14:00

This general manager has his crews filling out customer satisfaction surveys. Yes, you read that right. This fast-food GM decided to rig his customer satisfaction ratings by getting his employees to write them! It's one of the hallmarks of super-sketchy businesses. Companies that have satisfied customers don't have to beg their employees to help them get a 5-star rating on the internet.

As you might imagine, that wasn't even the only unethical behavior going on at this company. The employee who shared the story, u/thejakeboi, writes that they've watched from the sidelines as the GM made questionable choices. Throughout their years of working in fast food, the employee saw issues like "false advertising [and] telling us to serve old nasty food to reduce waste." But this employee's salary was on par with a manager's pay, so they just put up with it for a while. And as an employee, it's hard to make big changes anyway---what the general manager says, goes.

Check out this great malicious compliance tale for yourself, as well as comments from other people who've dealt with similar work experiences. Then, this researcher felt guilty after denying a woman she worked with a job, so she turned to Reddit to ask for advice.

'I'm done with you!': Truck driver drags micromanager to upper management after complying with her demands to 'follow company policy' goes wrong

Fail Blog - Mon, 02/26/2024 - 13:00

With great power comes great responsibilities. Sometimes, very 'rarely', people in positions of power might get blinded by their power and turn it against you, thereby reducing your chances of success.

The account of an irritated truck driver is told in the story that follows. The Original Poster (OP) is employed by a freight transportation company and operates a semi-truck. OP distributes between ten and fifteen deliveries per day. Throughout the delivery process, it is anticipated that OP will snap a picture of the package outside the apartment building as proof of delivery. At first, everything appeared to be going smoothly, but when OP's manager decided to write him up for no apparent reason, things quickly got ugly. For context, a driver is only legally obligated to provide photos of the parcel being delivered to a residential address. That is to say, there is no requirement to record the transaction when an item is delivered, say, to a construction site or corporate building.

As a result, after receiving a formal warning for acting in accordance with the company's policies, OP devises a devious plan to exact revenge on the entitled manager while also refraining from violating corporate policy. So, be sure to read the story below if you're interested in learning the specifics of what happened and how OP exacted revenge on his terrible manager! When you're done, don't forget to read about the new hire who boldly defies the rigid company hierarchical order to give the seasoned employee a dose of her own medicine!
