'So... below minimum wage?': Ex-manager offers $50 to a former employee, begging them to come back for one shift

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 09:00

Managers will do just about anything to cover a wayward shift in the fast-food industry. With corporate goons breathing down their neck and a 70-hour week on their horizon, it's no wonder managers become desperately manic when an employee no-shows or calls out sick. They're at their brink. However, the manager in our next story proved to be more manic than desperate after begging an ex-employee to cover a shift after quitting, enticing them with a cash offer of $50–mere peanuts.

After two years of exploitation at his fast-food job, this particular employee had had enough, but only two weeks after they'd quit, they received a pathetic text from their ex-manager, begging them to come cover a shift that someone bailed on. For some, this kind of desperation would mean they could score a couple of bucks from the endeavor–you know, with supply and demand n' all–but the ex-manager had the audacity to offer cash compensation at an embarrassingly low amount.

Scroll for the entire story of how a guy fervently denied an under-the-table gig to help an ex-manager he despised, largely because $50 would hardly cover the gas to go clock in.

'No one stayed longer than a year': 25+ Jobs that were the worst of the worst according to employees

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 08:00

It seems like everyone has had at least one job that made them dread going into work every day. It's the kind of job that gives you a pit in your stomach as you set your alarm clock for the next day. As you drive to work, you're gritting your teeth thinking about what irritating thing your boss or coworkers are going to do that day.

Sometimes it takes a little while to realize you dislike your job. But once you realize, it gets harder and harder to be happy there. You might start daydreaming about other jobs with less responsibility and better pay. For a lot of folks, their coworkers and bosses make them feel drained, and dealing with that every day can become grating. The best time to start job hunting is the moment you realize you're dissatisfied…but a lot of people either need the money or have other reasons why they're forced to stay on.

U/phillybride asked the internet to share "What made your worst job ever your worst job ever?" and the answers were quite wide-ranging. From blue-collar workers to white-collar workers, it seems like everyone has that one crazy story about their worst times on the job. Check them all out below. And then, this person refused to write false reviews about their company, so they decided to leave and let the company crumble behind them.

'The police were also automatically called...': Landlord gets a surprise when they can't disable their tenant's alarm after turning up unannounced and uninvited

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 07:00

One of the core principles of renting a house is that it might be your landlord's house… but you're paying for it to be your home. This is something that gets missed, soaring right over their heads… and smacking into the poorly painted white wall behind them.

Of course, there are laws in many (many) places regarding the rights that your landlord has to enter their property, and the rights that you have to privacy. Many jurisdictions will require the landlord, or property manager, to give a certain amount of written notice to their tenants, rather than "Kramer-ing" their way into their tenants' homes any time they'd like uninvited. Landlords will usually turn to suspicion when their tenants object to a late notice, or no notice, entry. Deciding that it must be because their tenants are doing something wrong or up to some sort of illegal activity. Often the reason is simpler and that we just want to be left the heck alone.

Of course, if your landlord keeps turning up uninvited, you're entitled to legal action. You're also more than welcome to do something along the lines of what this frustrated tenant did.

Cat Smooshes His Face Into His Carrier In A Funny Yet Failed Attempt To Escape The Vet, Leaves The Bus Riders And Twitter In Tears Of Laughter

LOL Cats - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 07:00

Vet visits with your cat… are impurrtant. Sometimes, they're routine. Other times, they're necessary. But they're always - every single time - a whole flippin' adventure. Because cats don't like the vet. Going to the vet is stressful for them, and therefore, it's stressful for us, and us being stressed only makes them more stressed, and on and on it goes. So, is it really a surprise that cats hide at the vet's office? Is it a surprise that they try to escape in a fiery fury every single time their carrier comes into their line of vision? It's not surprising. But it is funny.

The extent to which some cats will go to escape a vet visit, even if it's the most the most routine 'just get a checkup' visit, are endless .They will do anything. Even when they've been caught, and they have nowhere to go, they will continue to fight by giving you the most pained look you have ever seen in your life.

'No refunds, no exceptions': Restaurant refuses to reimburse customer for food they never delivered

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 06:00

'I never got the food', said the customer, perplexed, and continued 'I'd like a refund'. Fair enough, right? Wrong.

The restaurant manager's response was astounding, as made it clear that it didn't matter… They were not going to reimburse the customer for the food, regardless of whether they received it or not. If that sounds crazy, that's because it is.

But wait, let's pause for a second and rewind. The customer in question took to r/pettyrevenge to share their order gone wrong story. Let's call them OP. So OP explained that they had ordered some food online and went to pick it up. When they arrived home, they realized ⅓ of their order was missing… They called up the restaurant who told them that they could come pick up the food they were missing, but OP told them that they'd rather just get a refund as the Super Bowl was about to begin and they didn't want to run out to get the order. One thing led to another, which you can read about below.

Then, check out this employee who had enough of their CEO's antics who couldn't decide whether the employee was 'remote or not'. Decide, dude… Or pay your dues.

LOL Cats - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 06:00

Guy gets fired after six weeks, charges company hundreds to get their equipment back: 'It was very liberating for me'

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 05:00

This former employee refused to go quietly. Unfortunately, he was let go after just six weeks at the company due to sudden mid-quarter layoffs. That meant with such little time at the company, he would not be able to put this on his resume as such a brief stint there most certainly would raise eyebrows rather than help him find work elsewhere. This, along with poor management and a toxic work environment, led him to ensure that his final acts would be petty.

When he was asked to return his work-from-home equipment, he requested to ship them rather than show up anywhere in person. His boss agreed. However, what his boss did not yet realize was that this dude was going to make sure it was the most expensive delivery possible on the company's dime. That meant separate boxes for each item, pricey expedited shipping, etc. When the former employee, who shared his story via Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit, explained what he was doing, the FedEx worker joined in on the fun.

Keep scrolling below for the full play-by-play and for the best reactions from folks in the comments section. For more stories like this, here is one about a new employee who gave a seasoned one a taste of her own medicine.

'I got a dress, white gloves, and a pearl necklace': Retail employee channels her inner ‘Audrey Hepburn’ after getting burned by management for underdressing at work

Fail Blog - Wed, 02/28/2024 - 04:00

There's nothing worse than being an employee of a high-end retail store. If you've never experienced it, picture this: Every day you clock in, you are exposed to the scrutiny of every high-horse, ivory tower, wannabe with a superiority complex and despite your desire to dismiss their overinflated opinion with a waive, your commission depends on them. So without a veil of delusion, you're reminded daily that as a slave to the 40-hour workweek, you'll always be at the mercy of the 1%.

Sounds lovely doesn't it?

Well, in this sort of toxic environment, it's hard for employees not to fantasize about what sorts of anarchy they could get into if pushed far enough. The sales rep in our next story was able to act on her deepest desires, sticking it to the management, while also scoring a chubby paycheck from the customers. Scroll onward to read how one woman channeled her inner Audrey Hepburn as payback for an unjustified burn from her assistant manager.

‘[She was] trying to turn him against us’: Loyal roommate breaks up with Karen-ish girlfriend after she tries to get his roomies evicted, epic showdown ensues

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 21:00

There's no relationship more complicated than that of a person and their roommate's significant other. Like the parasitic third wheel in the house, even the nicest boyfriends and girlfriends can quickly become unlikeable, clogging up the fridge, leaving their belongings in communal spaces, and stealing the quality time you once had with your house-bestie. While it's rare that a roomie's significant other has no lasting impact on the group dynamic, most cases usually result in a hostile home dynamic that can only be solved with warfare. When it comes down to the sanctity of the home, roommates have no choice but to fight fire with fire

In our next story, the house dynamic was certainly rocked when Jay, a beloved member of the perfect 4 person household started dating a rogue Karen. Hellbent on turning him against everyone else in the house, this Karen would stop at nothing to create discourse–even when it came to stealing money from the communal grocery jar. Wanting to enjoy a story chock-full of debauchery and scheming? Scroll onward to read about how a secret love affair was weaponized to open the eyes of a treasured homie to the realities of his toxic girlfriend.

A Spicy Tuna Roll Filled With 39 Goofy Cat Expressions to Giggle Your Way Through a Mid-Week Slump

LOL Cats - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 21:00

There are only 27 muscles in the face of a cat. Compared to the 43 muscles of the human face, some naysayers would suggest that felines have half of the facial expression capacity of a hooman–but knowing all that I know about cats, I beg to differ.

Cats are the most expressive mammals on the planet, they're just more coy about it. When a feisty feline gets transfixed on a wild, feral thread or if the catnip kicks in without warning, kitties will go into feline expression overdrive, where their whiskers twitch and their eyeballs bugle with emotion. Like when a dog gets the zoomies, a cat expression completely takes over the feline and graces hoomanity with a glimmering example of feline feel-goods. Funny thing about these expressive cat moments is that kitties in this state can coax a smile out of even the grumpiest of cat lovers, swelling their hearts to twice the size.

So if you're in need of a feline friend in trying times, look no further than the dazzling kitty charmers below who embody the most emotionally expressive felines online. Before you know it, you'll feel your frown turn upside down and the mid-week slumpies go right out the window. Feline like your inbox needs a makeover? Sign up for our weekly newsletter!

'Give 0% tip, get 0% service': Casino server gets payback on a notorious no-tip customer, causes 'tipping culture' controversy in the comment section

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 20:00

It's no secret that tipping culture in America has gotten out of hand in the last few years. Every business with an iPad as their POS system will flip their little screen around to their customers they sheepishly say, 'It's just going to ask you a few questions'… Sorry, but it's hard to justify tipping 35% on a $7 coffee, but the social pressure of the barista with an imperious stare, a septum piercing, and electric pink hair is tough to ignore.

Baristas aren't known for their impressive paychecks after every pay period, but servers, on the other hand, have become notoriously well-off because of the increased pressure on tipping. As a symbol of toxic capitalism and gratuity drama, servers have become a target for arguments against tipping all altogether.

The server in our next story, a waiter in a casino, recently went viral for a controversial take on how poorly they treated a notorious no-tip customer. You can decide for yourself whether or not this server's malicious payback against a customer was justified or if it was ironically out-of-pocket.

'Is this a joke?': Neighbor demands to buy elderly woman's driveway for $1, she refuses and builds a fence between them instead

Fail Blog - Tue, 02/27/2024 - 17:00

It has gotten to a point where it is extremely common to hear about neighborhood drama, and about entitled neighbors who think they own everything around them. Some stories are more dramatic than others, but everyone has probably dealt with a demanding neighbor at some point in their lives.

That being said, there is one line that a neighbor should never ever cross, and that is taking advantage of elderly people. Like the person in this Reddit post. This man asked his elderly neighbor if he could use part of her driveway so that his children would have space to park their cars. The neighbor agreed out of the kindness of her heart, and let them use her driveway for a few years. Then the man asked to buy that part of the driveway for the mere price of one single dollar and was shocked when the elderly woman refused. That led to a whole dispute between the two neighbors and ended with one of them selling their house and moving away.

Scroll down to read the full story and how it ended. When you are done with that, click here for another neighborhood drama story about a resident who had his car towed by one of his neighbors.

It's about time.
