Barking dog disturbs a sleep-deprived employee every night, so he aims a motion-activated flood light into his neighbor's bedroom as revenge: 'If I’m awake, you’re awake too'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 13:00
Not only was this neighbor's dog sleeping outside all night, but he was distressed, barking at all hours and keeping the whole neighborhood up, until the guy next door taught the owners a lesson in sleep deprivation.

After months of training his own husky to keep quiet at night, this man was totally disturbed when his neighbor got a new puppy, a barker, whom they refused to train. It's not the dog's fault, for sure, because of course the poor pooch was stressed and disheveled after being forced to sleep outside, but the dog owners didn't see it that way. What they did start seeing (in all of its glorious brightness) was a 30,000 lumen flood light shining into their bedroom window every time the dog barked.

If your neighbors can't sleep, neither can you.

16-year-old caring for 14, 11, and 9-year-old siblings stops watching the other kids after parents dismiss his feelings: 'They said as the oldest, they have high expectations for me'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 12:00
These parents are learning the hard way that pushing your oldest child too far will just end up costing them a childcare provider.

I feel for this 16-year-old eldest son, and a lot of other people could also relate to his plight. As the oldest child in my own family, I know the burden, intentional or not, that comes with that role. Of course you love your siblings, and they're your best friends, but they also don't like to be bossed around by you. You're also put in charge of babysitting them all the time — you're basically the de facto babysitter when none other are available. And since you'll watch the kids for free, it makes sense that when your parents need a break, they just make you and your siblings play outside while they relax indoors away from the chaos.

The hardest thing is that since you're a child, there isn't a lot you can do to protest this arrangement. You may even think it's normal! You're basically subjected to the same rules as every other sibling, even though you're the one caring for them 24/7 for free.

Management removes automatic login access for widely used tool, employee maliciously complies until they restore access: 'It took about an hour before they sent us the login info'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 11:00
This worker had to prove to upper management that their new policy regarding login access was a waste of everyone's time and energy.

It's always amusing when bosses and managers step in to institute policies that only add more steps to everyone's workflow. Occasionally, of course, these extra steps are necessary, especially if they are put in place to ensure that everyone is crossing their T's and dotting their I's. However, sometimes those in charge meddle in ways that reflect a total lack of awareness and a miscalculation of how people work and collaborate with one another.

Entitled woman tries to swipe gas pump in -20 degree weather by ‘prepaying' for it even though she wasn't parked their, ends up paying for someone else's gas: ‘I WON THAT ROUND!’

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 10:00
It is way too cold to be dealing with any entitled Karen's tantrum out in public; that is why we all have to work together to shut down the behavior immediately. For example, this situation where a Karen tried to make a scene at a gas station, but the attendant, manager, and other customers were not going to let her win.

There are so many stories of entitled people pushing their way to get what they want. It's stories like this one, where the Karen gets put in their place, that restore our faith in humanity.

Manager gets a day of overtime pay for answering employee text when HR refuses to acknowledge their work-life boundaries, HR tries to get them fired, they counter with their own warning: '[If] they wanted to punish me for it, they could see me in court'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 09:00
An experienced general manager made their stance on their work-life balance known after HR refused to change a process that demanded they handle staffing issues on their days off, which would see them technically working time that they could be reporting. When they reported their findings, it caused a stir and a rift between them and the organization.

The blurring of your professional and personal lives happens quite quickly. It's a slippery slope that starts innocently enough and suddenly spirals out of control.

FINAL UPDATE: Employee working secretly working 3 jobs at once gets caught and fired from all 3: 'How cooked am I, and what can I do?'

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 08:00
When Job #1 discovered that an employee was also working at several other companies, they quickly tattled to the other employers!

Just in case the thought has never occurred to you: did you know that some employees are working multiple 9-5 jobs at the same time? Your follow-up question is, how can that be? Well, I'll tell you how. It happens when a very crafty, cunning worker secures 2 or 3 or 4 jobs at the same time, quickly becoming the worst employee at all of them, as you can imagine. They're constantly missing meetings; their inboxes are stuffed full of unread emails.

When giving tips about their endeavors, they'll tell other budding over-employed workers to simply never answer emails, avoid meetings at all costs, and make up any and every excuse as to why you can't work in-office. Over-employed workers believe that most problems will work themselves out if ignored long enough. Like, if their employee emails them asking for guidance, if they ignore that email for long enough, eventually that employee will ask someone else, or solve the problem on their own.

Entitled boyfriend tries to prevent his girlfriend from taking a promotion, but she refuses to let him drag her down: ‘This opportunity means something to me’

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 07:00
What do you do when a loved one forces you to sacrifice what you love for their sake?

Is this a selfish ask, or simply a requirement and side effect of being in a long-term relationship? The answer? Well, it depends.

For one, you can't expect your partner to surrender a great career opportunity because you'd prefer a more "chill" relationship. Asking this of them is inherently selfish. How can you ask your partner to give up their chance at upward mobility, especially when they seem so thrilled to have finally been noticed by their superiors? When one starts sacrificing their own needs and desires to please other people, they lose a part of themselves.

This next story teaches you what happens when your partner doesn't support you in your career. Scroll below to read it in full.

Entitled sorority girl gets a reality check after disrespecting a retail employee during Black Friday weekend: ‘Maybe learn how to treat workers with respect!’

Wed, 02/11/2026 - 06:00
Working retail is a tougher job than you would think! So many entitled people demand things from you as if you were a roach and everything is your fault. This shopper found out the hard way that there are consequences to your actions when you mistreat the employees trying to help you.

Especially during Black Friday weekend, these employees are working harder than ever and, most likely, handling more adult-tantrums than ever. If you don't treat them with some respect, well, you might just end up with a broken pair of sunglasses.

Employee forced to "prove" himself or get fired, he hands in his resignation instead: 'You were lucky to have me!'

Ultimatums are a recipe for disaster for all involved.

Remember the show The Ultimatum on Netflix? You know, the one where couples were in such conflict that one person wanted to settle down and get married while the other did not feel ready for that kind of commitment yet? For those who don't remember, this was the streaming reality series where ultimatums became the so-called "solutions" that would inevitably become the instigators of more conflict in the relationships depicted on screen. When watching the show, it was hard not to ask yourself why these couples felt like a "quid pro quo" agreement was the right course of action to take in order to save a relationship. Call me old-fashioned, but I always felt like if a relationship had to get to that point, it probably wasn't a very good relationship.

Boss gives employee a $820 parting gift, her partner calls gift "frustrating": 'She couldn't understand my point of view, called me entitled, and basically ended the call'

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 14:00
This person wishes their partner got a gift card to a better store, yet she's in shock about that reaction.

Is it justified to be a little upset about getting a sort of useless gift card? On the one hand, you feel a twinge of guilt when someone gives you a $15 gift card to a store where everything costs like $50 minimum. That person meant well! And it'll still buy you a partial gift. But now you're compelled to spend extra money there just to use the gift card in the first place. I suppose that's kind of the issue with gift cards, isn't it? We rarely spend the exact amount on the card. We either use the entire thing then pay a little extra, or use all but a few dollars on it. Stores make a ridiculous amount of money off gift cards, because they know a lot of them will go unused.

Customer gets 80% off $10,900 small business order by flattering its "customer service": 'I'm going to be losing thousands... I've written to the customer'

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 12:00
This customer chose flattery and got rewarded with the deal of a lifetime.

Usually salespeople are the ones laying on the flattery! But this is 2026, baby, and we're all talking to computers now.

Sometimes it still feels like we're in the midst of giant tech evolutions; world-changing innovations are promised to make our lives easier (or so we're told). But we haven't quite worked out all the issues with some of this tech. Case in point: over the weekend, a small business based in England wrote to a legal advice group with a very urgent question: should they fill an order priced at an insanely low amount? Let's dig into it:

'I owe the HOA 1 cent': Resident of 20+ years in the neighborhood refuses to pay the $0.01 he owes in HOA fees on principle

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 11:00
This resident had no plans to follow up about the alleged single cent he owed his HOA.

The purpose of homeowner's associations is to protect the privacy, safety, and interests of those living in the neighborhood, but we know that this is rarely what they're actually about. The vast majority of HOA board members appear to be insecure, power-hungry folks who want to relive the glory days of being class president in high school. These are people who either have too much time on their hands or an insatiable appetite for enforcing bogus rules and regulations. Of course, homeowners wish they could avoid HOAs at all costs, though unfortunately, it's hard not to end up in neighborhoods and buildings with these kinds of unnecessarily strict community guidelines and so-called "standards."

Employee takes over coworker's role to help save failing company, coworker claims they're making a mistake, only to be proven wrong when stocks go up: 'The clients are now happy'

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 10:00
Getting a chance to prove your worth to your workplace, especially to those who doubted you, is a highly satisfying experience.

There are plenty of ways one can prove that their employment has helped the company they joined. You can look at the data, track clients' satisfaction, and even, in the case of the software engineer in the story below, look at the stock market. These options, and many others, can be a great tool to show your boss, the clients, and even some jealous ex-coworkers, just how valuable and even talented you are.

Not that these moments are why we do what we do, or why we work hard, but they sure are a nice bonus. Who doesn't love getting the confirmation that all the hard work they've put in has paid off? Who doesn't love praise?

When you take over someone else's role, and all they tell you is how big a mistake you are making, it is only natural to feel even more driven to prove them wrong. Just because they didn't do the job properly doesn't mean you will. Sure, it makes sense that they don't want to face the possibility that they were the reason the company was failing, but going as far as telling their replacement that they're dumb for taking the job… that might be going a bit too far.

Blue-collar employee quits on the spot after being talked over and offered a lowball raise, is the 11th person to quit in 8 months: ‘I finally cut him off and told him I was quitting.’

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 09:00
An entitled blue-collar manager decided to yell at his employee for something he constantly does himself. That was the straw that broke the camel's back, prompting the employee to quit. After being offered a lowball raise and being talked over…

When it comes to being a good manager, some of the elements is being accountable to your own failure, listening to your employees, and having your team's back. Unfortunately, this boss was none of these, and now 11 people have quit in less than a year.

23-year-old wife demands 24-year-old husband take their 5, 3, 1, and 2-month-old children to school as he recovers from surgery: 'He looked at me like I was joking. I wasn't.'

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 08:00
These parents of 4 kids under 5 years old can't agree about who should be taking the kids to school each day.

They say being a parent is the hardest job out there, and you can easily see why. There are no other jobs like it. You don't get any sick days or days off, your kids won't listen to you even when you're exhausted from getting no sleep ever, and worst of all, even if you're up all night every night, you're still expected to go to work and care for these little creatures. Even if, like this Dad, you get your wisdom teeth yanked, you still have to care for the kiddos — there's simply no break from the action, especially when it's not one baby, but multiple. Even if he and the wife tried to just take 2 kids at a time, it's still exhausting!

Resident shovels their car out of the snow after a big storm, neighbor yells at them to stop tossing snow into her ‘yard’: ‘“Come on lady be realistic”’

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 07:00
When snowstorms hit a town hard, the only way out is, quite literally, through.

"Through" by way of shoveling, of course. A massive snowstorm-cold front hybrid weather system hit a good portion of the United States a couple of weeks ago, leaving several feet of snow and many angry car owners in its wake. What was left behind were several foot-tall snow drifts, ice-covered windshields, and neighbors turning on one another. This next story showcases what happens when a condo resident tries to dig their car out of the snow before a cold front hits in D.C., but their neighbor thinks she owns the land where they're tossing the snow. Nope, ma'am, that's not your property. And, contrary to what the neighbor might think, snow melts.

Employee forced to pass messages between two coworkers who refused to talk to each other, then he starts trolling them both: 'I started making up messages to give each of them on behalf of the other'

Tue, 02/10/2026 - 05:00
This group of coworkers displayed a shocking lack of professionalism.

Then again, this should have been such a surprise, given the fact that this was a poorly managed comic book store.

For some context, the author points out that before he signed on to work at a store he used to frequent regularly as a customer, the manager of the store recently purged his entire staff to start anew. That was probably the first red flag that should never have been ignored. The second red flag was the fact that the manager decided it would be a good idea to replace his staff with a team of regular customers. That likely was not the smartest move either. After all, if the professional relationship doesn't work out, who's to say that these customers won't just start shopping at a competitor?

15 Football viewers reveal how their Super Bowl parties went: 'The TV went black during the winning touchdown'

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 14:00
If you attended a Super Bowl party this weekend, I just know it wasn't drama-free.

The Super Bowl is a good time for almost everyone, even those who don't care for football. Some people only care about the big game if their particular team is playing (Go Birds!), but even when your team didn't make the cut, it's still fun to pick a team and root for them. Other people are just here for the halftime show, which is understandable, too! Bad Bunny put on an incredible show this year, with Lady Gaga performing alongside him.

Some of y'all only show up for the commercials, and they were… how to put this… a mixed bag this year. Whether they're good or bad, it gets the conversations swirling! Even just coming to the party to yap about that while eating your aunt's famous buffalo chicken dip is a good enough reason to enjoy the big game.

No party is perfect, though. There's always at least one person who starts moping around the second it looks like their team is falling behind. There's also always at least one person who just really doesn't like football, and needs everybody to know that, and who will spend every second of actual football staring into their phone screen until the cut to commercial.

Let's have a laugh at some other people's football party fiascos!

Manufacturing company's product manager decides to quit after getting a bad review over vague expectations from his manager: ’This is my last straw tho and I will not tolerate this’

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 13:00
Some companies pretend they are investing in you while quietly practicing emotional sabotage with a side of pencil‑pushing

Performance reviews are supposed to be about clarity and growth not about guessing what someone secretly wanted you to do after the fact. Here we have a product manager who entered a role with almost no onboarding apart from a couple of generic LinkedIn videos anyone could watch on their coffee break.

'You will be my Valentine?': 15+ Valentine's gifts that missed the mark

Mon, 02/09/2026 - 12:00
Love is in the air, and here's your inspiration for what not to get your beloved for this Valentine's Day.

Hear ye, hear ye — Valentine's Day is imminent! Check your calendar right now, because if you're seeing this, you have just days or perhaps hours to cobble together a gift for your loved one. Don't fall for that "I don't want anything, babe" mumbo jumbo. No way. Even if your partner says they don't want anything, if you love and cherish them, you should get them something they'll love.

It's different for every couple. Some couples would love a weekend spent camping or going to a luxurious spa or relaxing on a warm beach somewhere. Other couples can't resist a long dinner full of great food and great conversation, followed by some dancing or seeing a movie. You can truly customize your Valentine's plans to match what your babe wants, and that's the beauty of it. You can spend a small fortune on flowers and Valentine's chocolate if you want, but if you plan ahead, you can get them something a little more personalized and pay far less for it, too.

These people shared brief snapshots into their lives, which I searched for across the internet and compiled for us all to look at here. Some people bought presents for their kids that missed the mark. One person ordered a Lego bonsai tree to surprise his sweetheart, only to realize that it was shipped in the box — forget about any surprises! And one person is eating a peanut butter and cheese sandwich because they tried to give a gift to their crush… only for her BF to answer the door. And it actually got worse from there, for that poor lovelorn fella. Aww.

It seems like every year, people order flowers for their partners, only to be let down when the flowers actually arrive. It's probably best to go in-person to get them — 1, because it's more heartfelt, and 2, because you can check out the quality before forking over your cash. Best of luck out there this year to all you love birds. I just know you'll all find better gifts than these!
