'Finally, I would be rid of him': Guy deletes all disrespectful coworker's contributions to the company as long-awaited payback

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 13:00

Sometimes the best petty revenge is pretending like your enemy simply doesn't exist. This could be as simple as a change in mentality. However, not concerning yourself with someone's existence (especially a coworker) might not be enough. Sure, it's probably the more mature thing to do, but we're not necessarily concerned with maturity here at FAIL Blog.

This employee had been repeatedly disrespected over the years by a coworker that he trained from the very beginning. Not to sound like an old person here, but talk about not respecting your elders! After the employee, who shared this thread via Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit, attempted to point out some issues with a manual, the coworker dismissed him completely and left with nothing but sassy remarks. Of course, the two ended up having to work in close proximity to one another, and of course, the coworker had a number of other annoying characteristics such as his tendency to make a ton of noise in the office. So upon the coworker's eventual retirement, OP took the opportunity to erase all his contributions to the company. Keep scrolling below to learn how he pulled it all off. 'She never figured out it was me': Coworker gets revenge on supervisor who refuses to plan her own trips

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 12:00

There are two types of travelers: people who know how to plan ahead, and people who do everything at the last minute

Maybe you have a person like this in your life. They're the traveler who gets a list of items to pack two months in advance. Then you find them scouring the internet for hiking shoes the day before the trip. This is the same person who is still shoving things in their suitcase as the taxi is pulling up to take you to the airport.

Worse are people who miss their flights. Some folks strongly believe that going to the airport three hours early is for chumps. Instead, they'll plan to breeze through security 20 minutes before the plane departs. They might make the flight or they might not, but they won't put any effort in to change the outcome.

This person told the story of what happened to their supervisor, who couldn't help but plan her trips last minute. The issue was that she waited until so late that her poor employee was stuck trying to book her flights. At least the employee was able to get back at their terrible boss---seems like she'll never enjoy her travels again, so long as u/ItsCoolImWithTheBand has a say in it.

Next up, this Australian woman must have been kicking herself after she managed to lose her internet service for two whole years.

'Boss [is] listening to private conversations': Toxic boss plants secret security camera, recording employees at work

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 11:00

Sometimes it feels like your boss is watching your every move because that's exactly what he's doing. This employee realized in the worst way possible that their employer was secretly recording their side conversations like this was some Linda Tripp situation. It turns out that the folks of Reddit were hyper-aware of this surprisingly common practice.

As a relatively anxious worker, I always feel the often nonexistent presence of an authority figure breathing down my neck and monitoring my every move. Thankfully, I have been lucky enough to know that this paranoia is mostly in my head. However, this story certainly will put anxious workers like myself on edge. Keep scrolling below for the full story and for the reactions from folks in the comment section, who weighed on the specific legality of the situation. For more stories like this, check out this post about an employee who got revenge on the office Karen.

'Sorry, that's not my problem': Company attempts to charge former employee for credit card ‘late fees’, end up spending $1000 in billable hours instead

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 10:00

When you quit, you essentially leave all your problems with that company behind. But what happens when your past catches up with you, and suddenly you are slapped with a fine you shouldn't have to pay?

This person received a furious email from the former company he worked at, which read that he had to pay a certain amount that had piled up on an old credit card he'd had while being employed there. The thing was, the person had already cut it up — one year ago. So what was going on? It was a fair question. Apparently, the card had not been canceled, but that wasn't really OP's problem… It was theirs.

So, OP ended up costing them a whopping $1,000. How? Scroll down to find out. Maybe next time the company will take a second to look internally, instead of reaching out to former employees who have nothing to do with card cancellations. Up next is a hilarious bunch of work memes to laugh at while you are on lunch break.

'The look on his face was golden': Housemate uses program to lock computer, denying his roommate internet access until he washes the dishes

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 09:00

One man found himself in a sticky situation regarding his messy roommate who literally refused to wash his own dishes. This story brings up some pretty bitter memories for me because I too had a roommate whose sense of cleanliness was worse than a two-year-old. She would also throw tantrums, so I was basically living with an actual child.

In this case, the man found a way to exact some petty payback, and he knew just how to do it. After confronting his roommate who told him that he was never going to wash the dishes (quite bold, that one), he went on an internet hunt to find a way to deny his roommate internet access until he did what he wanted him to do. The end result is hysterical, and something everyone should try at home.

Below you can read the full, detailed account of events as told by OP. After you are done scrolling, check out this person who had the nerve to ask their roommates for $500 to fix their car. Who raised these people?

'I will call a tow truck if I have to': 20 Inconsiderate people who are irritating their neighbors

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 08:00

These people told the internet all about their worst neighbors. Apparently, it's quite a relatable topic! Numerous people showed off their neighbor's bad parking jobs, passive-aggressive notes, and way-too-bright outdoor lights.

Out of all the things neighbors do to annoy us, I think the worst has to be constant noise. Some people have thin walls, so you can hear everything they say, plus every song they play. Other people have dogs who bark all day long while their owners are at work. If you work from home, the nonstop barking will make you dream of going to an actual office. You can't stop their dog from missing their owner, and dogs can seemingly bark for hours on end without ever getting tired of it.

Unless you can talk to your neighbors, there may not be a solution to your issues. There are frequent discussions under posts about writing notes to your fellow inhabitants. Many people believe that scribbling a note to your neighbor only brings bad results. It seems like no matter how harmless the note is, no matter how kindly it's written, people almost always reply to them with vitriol.

On the other hand, people have also cautioned against giving your neighbors your cell phone number. That can lead to a barrage of texts about every little issue, which is also not ideal. At least for the folks who shared their stories to r/mildlyinfuriating, commenters always have some crafty comeback ideas for them, just in case they want to take the petty route.

Up next, check out this time some parents decided to impeach an entire HOA group just so they could get some new roofing

'We worked things out and promised not to drive each other crazy on purpose': Teen drives dad mad for months by moving his stuff within 1-meter radius, revenge wholesomely brings them closer

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 07:00

This must be one of the most subtly infuriating revenge stories, and it's truly ingenious. Living with someone inevitably exposes you to their idiosyncrasies, those small habits that can seriously grate on your nerves. It could be the way they tidy up, their pillow arrangement, or the way they always leave their toothbrush out – the seemingly trivial things that still drive you mad.

In this father-son dynamic, the father finds himself unable to tolerate the disorderly way his teen leaves everything out. Unbeknownst to him, this is just the teen's unique method of organizing his belongings. Fed up with the situation, the dad decides to take matters into his own hands and rearrange everything. Little does he know; this sets off a revenge plot that unfolds over the course of several months.

The teen's retaliation takes the form of a harmless prank, but it's brilliant. Whenever the dad places something in a particular location, the teen shifts it to another spot—never completely out of sight, but just enough to drive someone crazy. However, fear not, this story does conclude on a heartwarming note. To find out the satisfying resolution, keep reading.

‘It’s not my fault you spent all your money': Woman refuses to lend brother money after he blew through his entire inheritance

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 06:00

Should money and family go hand in hand? The reality is, there isn't really a way around it. From the moment you are born, your parents have to financially support you, and as you grow up, money is always an issue that needs to be addressed. Even once you become a financially independent adult, somehow money always is a conversation at some point in family meetings.

So as much as I would love to say you shouldn't mix family with money, I know it is not the most realistic advice, and the woman who wrote this Reddit story would probably agree. After she and her brother got a big inheritance from their grandfather, she used it responsibly to pay off her mortgage and invest the rest, while her brother went on a wild spending spree and spent it all on vacations and a luxury sports car. Now the brother is broke and has come to his sister for a loan. But this isn't the first time OP has lent her brother money, and she won't do it again. Her brother obviously didn't take it well, and neither did their parents.

Scroll down for the full story. Once you are done, click here for a story of an employee who got suspended for being a minute late for work, but was still expected to do the job.

'Let me do my job': Karen refuses to listen to insurance employee's advice, ends up getting zero coverage

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 05:00

She had it coming! People who seek the assistance of customer service representatives should take a moment to check their egos at the door before getting on the phone. No one needs to know how important you are to help sign you up for the right insurance plan. What you do need to do, however, is be patient and listen because these folks have the ability to make things a lot easier or difficult for you depending on how you choose to behave.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/TrikkiNikk, who tried to explain to a Karen over the phone that she needed to listen to the plan information and sign off on it if she wanted to enroll. The Karen, of course, could not be bothered to listen to advice and continued to ignore OP. Cut to a few weeks later, Karen was very upset that she did not get coverage because she wasn't properly enrolled. Wouldn't it have been so much simpler and cheaper if she just listened?

'I knew they would definitely fail': Substitute teacher gets back at cheating students by making an uncheatable test

Tue, 01/30/2024 - 04:00

The shenanigans our classmates orchestrated under the supervision of unfortunately unaware substitute teachers are something that we're likely to remember many years afterward. It's one of those things that are such a universal experience that long ago worked its way from real life over into becoming a trope in popular culture.

The greatest example I had of this was in 8th grade when my Advanced Geometry teacher had a few weeks off work, and we, of course, were to be taught instead by a substitute teacher, an ancient woman who probably went through school before geometry was even invented… at least that would have explained why she had a third-grade understanding of the subject. She literally couldn't answer the most simple geometric question if her life depended on it, and, well, it sort of did.

‘Her rent is MORE than my mortgage’: Woman with 9 cats is upset her homeowner-boyfriend won't move into her overpriced rented house

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 18:00

If you own a home with a low interest rate in this economy, holy moly, you have to hold on tight to that. Most people reaching the typical "homeowners" age are not even able to dream of owning a home, let alone, one with a reasonable interest rate. So when this guy posted on Reddit asking if it was unreasonable for him to not want to give up his home that he owns and only pays 2.8% interest, the internet obviously sided with him.

Employee's PTO Revoked After a Jealous Boss Claims He's 'Never Taken [a Vacation] That Long, Why Should You?'

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 17:00

To avoid giving employees actual real benefits, a lot of big companies have adopted the notion of 'unlimited PTO'. After numerous studies have shown that employees with unlimited days off actually take fewer vacations, every CEO and supervisor within 1,000 leagues jumped on the bandwagon. When employees are taking less than 10 days a year of vacation, that means they're working constantly– woohoo!

However, there are a few 'rogue' employees who understand that unlimited PTO means UNLIMITED PTO. That's a tough opportunity to pass up if you think about it. Who are we to question the laws of the land in the workplace? In our next story though, a guy who was happy to cash in on his unlimited vacation time got snubbed because his boss decided to change the rules. Out of spite, OP's PTO was denied, but that certainly doesn't mean he's going to let them walk all over him.

Scroll for all the details of how a rebellious worker brought out the rules of the petty handbook and taught his jealous boss a lesson.

'I'm being accused of disrupting the group vibe': Woman sees mooching couple at friend dinner, preemptively gets herself a separate check

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 16:00

We've all been there—it's a big friend group dinner. It took weeks to plan and some of these friends you hardly ever see, so you really really want to go. But then the anxiety starts to set in when you start about how that splitting of the check is going to go down. Some friends are in the mindset of "just split everything down the middle!" Even though some people ordered $20 cocktails and prime rib and you just got water and a side salad. Others are all about separate checks, but who will be the one to initiate that? It's such an awkward part of group dinners, that some people will decline invites altogether just to avoid this part (I know I do).

One friend who usually declined the group dinner invites decided to go one time because the usual "moocher" friends weren't supposed to go. However, once she arrived, lo and behold, they were there. So she immediately went to the server and let him know that her check would be completely separate. When it came time to pay, the moocher friends were aghast, however, some were totally on board. That didn't prevent the moocher friends from sending her a text the following day calling her out for "disrupting the group vibe."

If you need more, here's another mildly infuriating situation.

'Stop being a drama queen': Loyal employee gets accused of stealing $40 from the register, hostile manager gaslights them

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 15:00

A theft accusation is a tough burn to come back from– especially in the workplace. As a server in a restaurant, you automatically assume responsibility for all of the incoming cash into the restaurant, meaning that you're the one honorable barrier between what's left in the register at the end of the night and what comes home with you in your pocket. Because of this delicate balance of trust, a server's credibility is a fragile, yet desperately important thing to maintain if you're a restaurant manager. You wouldn't want to scare off the last of the good ones over a feeble hunch… right?

But that's exactly what one hot-headed manager did in our next story.

Update: Employee refuses to change password, places the blame on another company: 'She was fired on the spot'

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 14:00

Out of the many reasons an employee could get fired, this is one of the most preventable (and silly) reasons.

It's never been more important to have strong passwords to protect yourself on the internet. Maybe 20 years ago it was okay to choose "password1234" as your entry code, but that'll never fly with today's advanced technology. As tech evolves, it requires more creativity to get into someone's email or computer. Even people who have had their passwords stolen before don't always take the proper precautions.

It's easy to ignore best practices when you're in a rush. Apparently, you're supposed to activate two-factor authentication or use apps for that purpose, for as many online accounts as you can. That gets really annoying really fast, but it's worth it to keep your online privacy. Apparently no one told that to this employee! She seemed so protective of her passwords that it ended her career.

You can check out this great story below. The OP also added in several updates, complete with additional information in the comments section.

After that, check out these people who shared their funniest petty revenge stories—like one dude who erased all of his cheating wife's TV shows and recorded "Cheaters" instead.

'I love you, but I really want a Tyrannosaurus': 20+ ridiculous things sleep talkers said, according to their partners

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 13:00

This one goes out to all the significant others out there who have to endure their partners' sleep-talking every single night. You folks are the real heroes!

Seriously, it's not easy to date a sleep talker. It's almost like dating two different individuals. There's the person you're spending your days with, the person with whom you have fallen in love. And then there's the person they become when you turn off the lights. Yes, it's like dating Gollum.

Once your partner is asleep, they might reveal all the anxieties on their mind with zero filter or they might just word-vomit a ton of gibberish that makes absolutely no sense. Regardless, these Redditors have kept a running list of the ridiculous things their sleep-talking partners have uttered overnight. We compiled this list from this r/AskReddit thread. Keep scrolling below for the best ones. For more, here are some crazy comments doctors have made to their patients.

'[They] saw dollar signs': Customer calls police after mechanic refuses to return their car

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 12:00

How could a quick mechanic visit go so wrong? This dude was left stunned after a shop took their car, and then didn't want to give it back.

As a car owner, you get to know your vehicle pretty well. The more time you spend driving to the grocery store or to your friend's house, the more you'll notice its noises and smells. If your car makes lots of whining sounds or starts leaking fumes into the interior, it might be time to get that looked at. Although some people drive around with car issues, check engine light or not, until the car can't move another inch. Others, like this person try to be proactive about their vehicle's problems. This one seems especially important: u/TrueHalfCrack writes that their trusty 2005 Santa Fe was squeaking when they started braking. Of all the issues to get checked out with haste, a steering or brake issue is at the top of that list.

Mechanics realize that many car owners arrive at their shop with zero knowledge of why their car's having so many issues. Some mechanics are on the level, but others just want to make a quick buck. This guy got such incredible revenge on this mechanic that he'll probably never try those tactics again!

Next up, this person left the internet stunned by charging a $200 "meal fee" for every wedding guest… including family members.

'Don't mess with the wrong tenants': Landlord ignores maintenance requests for two months, tenant fires back with steep fines

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 11:00

There's nothing like seeing the look on a landlord's face after they have been majorly called out for being entirely unresponsive. It's somehow a mix between a look of feeling betrayed and the look of a child who is having a really hard time pretending they didn't just break the rules. But all landlords who ignore tenants' maintenance requests to the point that the living conditions become, well, unlivable should know better.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/New-Morning-3184, who had contacted the broker and landlord with a list of areas in his newly rented apartment that needed to be checked and cleaned prior to his family's move-in. Well, as one might expect, none of those areas were looked at in advance and OP moved into a complete mess of a space. After numerous attempts to rectify the situation and to get maintenance people to come over and finish the job, OP was left no choice but to call the city and to force his landlord to do his job. Keep scrolling below to see how the revenge got even more petty when it came to the repair of OP's front door.

'You won't be needed in the future:' Restaurant manager fires dishwasher after first shift for 'red flags' he deemed wholeheartedly fireable

Mon, 01/29/2024 - 10:00

It's not easy landing a job these days, the workforce is all kinds of crazy currently. So if and when you do manage to land a job, you should probably hold onto it the best you can, right? If it is a horrible work environment, the, by all means, quit. But if everything is going along just fine and you're getting paid and enjoy your coworkers, then why would you mess that up?
