UPDATE: Homesteader confronts 70-year-old neighbor who doesn't want chickens freeroaming in her yard: 'Y'all, I'm putting up the fence'

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 08:00
A homesteader vented about their neighbor's request, expecting sympathetic ears, and instead…

….They only got critiques of their homekeeping etiquette.

If you lived somewhere rural and had plenty of space, maybe you wouldn't mind your neighbor's livestock wandering around your yard, too. While many (most!) people keep their animals in some kind of cage, this person doesn't. Their freerange chickens are for real free to wander where ever they choose.

The person who used to be their neighbor didn't mind this. Maybe they were just used to it, or they liked seeing the chickens pecking around at their lawn. For whatever reason, it wasn't an issue.

But now, an older woman has moved in, and she sees things differently.

Apartment neighbor successfully builds a social structure that puts the blame on others, one tenant stands up: ‘The energy [has] shifted.’

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 06:00
We've all met someone everyone seems to love, but what happens when you have a real problem with them?

Being well-liked can open doors, but it can also make it harder to call someone out when they cross a line. People tend to give the benefit of the doubt to those who are helpful and friendly. We all appreciate kind-hearted people who care about everyone and make a community feel safer and more connected. But in the long run, that goodwill can make them untouchable to the point that even reasonable complaints sound like overreactions.

The stronger their reputation becomes, the harder it is to question their behavior when a problem arises. People like this tend to leave a positive impression wherever they go, greeting everyone with a smile and making others feel comfortable around them without even trying. It's easy to trust those kinds of personalities and instinctively defend them, but they're not always who they appear to be. Sometimes, it can be surprising to see how different someone can act when the mask slips or when the image they've carefully built starts to crack. Even if they are genuinely good people, it can feel uncomfortable to hold them accountable when something is bothering you. No one wants to be the one who challenges or questions that positive image everyone else believes in, and it can feel wrong to think badly of someone you've always thought well of.

That's what brings us to today's dilemma. Our protagonist is a tenant who finds himself caught in this kind of dynamic within his building. He has a problem with a real-life Mr. Prince Charming of a neighbor, but no one in the building seems willing to acknowledge it. His storage unit is inaccessible because his neighbor's belongings are blocking the way, and even management struggles to intervene properly. It's striking that no one dares to speak up, and the situation has reached a point where it clearly needs attention.

Massachusetts job candidate demands $900 for unpaid interview project assignment: 'The scope of work produced holds legitimate commercial value'

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 05:00

This interview candidate felt that the so-called "assignment" he was given warranted payment, and after reviewing Massachusetts labor statutes, he felt that he had a strong case.

Many job applicants have come to expect having to complete some kind of project in order to prove that the skills outlined in their resumes and/or portfolios are up to par for the position. These assignments can range from hypothetical scenarios or problem sets to be completed during an interview to full-blown presentations to prepare within a short period of time.

Completing these projects to the best of one's ability can be difficult to manage, especially if you're currently employed and have limited free time. One might assume that hiring managers are accepting of these limitations, but then again, one would be wrong to make said assumption. After all, recruiters are far more likely to respond to the highest quality project, but isn't it a moral conundrum if the work it takes to produce that high quality starts to feel like work that deserves compensation in and of itself?

Sure, an optimistic candidate might think that all this work will be worth it in the end once they land the position. However, there is absolutely no guarantee that things will shake out that way. Statistically, it's probably unlikely that you'll get the job. And if there's no clause in the prompt stating that the company cannot and will not manipulate your work for business use, who's to say that they won't do just that?

24 Relatable Memes to Lighten Your Emotional Load and Brighten Your Day

Thu, 03/26/2026 - 04:00
Feeling everything all at once is exhausting, and lately it seems like there is no off switch. These relatable memes capture the chaos of being emotionally overloaded, where the smallest thing can tip you over and everything feels a little too intense. It is comforting to know you are not the only one riding this wave. Scroll through and let the humor take the edge off, even if just for a moment. Some of these will feel a little too accurate, but that is part of the relief. It is easier to handle when you can recognize yourself in the chaos. And sometimes, a quick laugh is exactly what you need to reset.

Guy demands a 10% raise after learning Welsh, pushing HR to honor a promise for wage increases for bilingual employees: ‘The policy meant Spanish, but [it] didn't specify Spanish'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 15:00
Only 0.01% of the world population speaks Welsh, but this office employee used his Welsh lessons to teach his HR department a lesson in honoring company policy… Down to the letter.

It's not uncommon to hear promises of a raise thrown around in the workplace. Dangling a juicy carrot in front of their workforce, bosses, managers, and the invulnerable HR department are happy to toss around hopeful words like "raise," "wage increase," "merit-based," and "salary adjustment."

And yet, oftentimes, those promises are empty, leaving workers with twice the workload and nothing to show for it apart from bags under their eyes and the empty cup of a 3rd coffee on their desk.

Some employees, however, refuse to accept the empty promises of their higher-ups and will hold them to their word. This office employee in the next story was a man of specifics, and he refused to let the HR department slither out of this one. After diligently reading the company policy regarding bilingual employees, he noticed that any employee who could prove they were proficient in another language would be eligible for a 10% raise.

Now, 10% is not something you turn up your nose to; that's some decent money!

However, as the policy didn't specify which languages employees had to prove they knew, this worker decided to take the opportunity to deep-dive into his own family's personal history. Although only roughly 0.01% of the global population speaks it, this man took his Welsh lessons to the bank, cashing in on his company's bilingual policy while getting in touch with his 18th century roots.

And by holding his company to their word, an extra snarky employee taught the HR department a lesson in policy specifics…

Employee refuses to give coworker laptop for good reason

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 14:00
Have you ever gotten all the way to the office before realizing, to your surprise, that you've totally forgotten your one most crucial workplace tool?

You woke up, got dressed, packed your lunch, gathered your wallet, keys, and phone, and you're out the door for another day at the office. Only to realize, as you arrive at the office and start unpacking for the day, that you've forgotten the only thing you truly need: your laptop. What to do now?

It happened to this person's colleague. And instead of going to like, the boss or the tech team, they did this instead

Job candidate gets bizarre hiring text, calling them "entitled" and warning them not to share the message

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 12:00
This unhinged text message is just begging to be shared far and wide.

We all know it's a tough time to be a job candidate. You can literally apply for hundreds of jobs and get like, 2 emails back. That's because a lot of these companies aren't even hiring, they're just trying to look like they're successful enough, bringing in enough money, to hire new people. And clearly, that's just not true.

This company has a strategy that just has to be seen to be believed. Like… what is their end goal here? Can anyone shed light on this? Has anyone else had this happene to them?

Neighbor accused of trespassing homeowner's property to tell her 2-year-old toddler to be quiet

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 11:00

When it comes to noisy neighbors, there are always instances in which a certain degree of understanding is necessary. For instance, most parents with young children should typically get a free pass, as long as the parents are not actively inconveniencing their neighbors in ways that are within their control.

This neighbor, however, was known in the community for being one to stir up trouble over the slightest inconvenience. When the fairly new homeowner next door and her spouse were playing with their 2-year-old toddler at 8:45 am on a Sunday morning, they were shocked to find their grumpy neighbor from next door standing by their window on their property.

Yes, he felt that his longstanding status in the neighborhood somehow gave him the right to trespass onto other people's property in order to reprimand young kids for making an acceptable amount of noise in their own home. Again, if the parents were being thoughtless and letting their kid scream at the top of his lungs outside the neighbor's window, then we'd have a different story.

But that's not what happened here. In fact, despite the levels of overwhelm that come with raising a toddler, these parents were self-aware enough to know that they should steer clear of that neighbor's house whenever they could. Still, all of their efforts to avoid conflict unfortunately did not matter in the long run, considering they were living next to a guy who genuinely enjoyed being the agent of chaos in the neighborhood.

Mother "fires" her own mother from babysitting her child after she goes behind her back and cancels free play classes: 'She describes it as chaos and insists that a walk around the block or a trip to the library is just as good'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 09:00
An exchange that started innocently enough with a grandmother helping with the care of her child quickly became a generational rift as the grandmother, who thought she knew better, stopped taking the child to baby play classes behind the child's mother's back. She "fired" her mother and replaced her with another caregiver. Despite being upset with her mother, she couldn't help but wonder: Was she wrong for restricting her mother's access to her child?

Story Summary:

A mother returned to part-time work and relied on her own mother, the child's grandmother, for childcare, including taking her toddler daughter to a developmental class she loved. However, the grandmother disliked the class, insisting that they were messy and chaotic. When she suggested that alternatives would be better and the mother insisted that the child be taken to the classes, she secretly stopped attending, misleading the mother about their activities.

When the mother realized what had been happening, she felt her trust had been broken and chose to hire a college student to watch her child instead. The grandmother became upset, arguing that she was being replaced and denied access to her granddaughter despite her "best" intentions.

Customer forced to pay surcharge for card payment, highlighting a bigger issue: 'You can't do that and refuse cash'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 08:00
This customer was worried they were being a Karen while trying to pay for a service, but actually, they're highlighting an important widespread issue.

"Tap to pay" is king, isn't it? As a society, we've gone from bartering, to using coins, to cash, to checks, to credit cards for big purchases only, and finally, to using credit cards to pay for everything.

Even the tech has evolved. We've gone from swiping those cards, to using the chip readers, to tapping the cards. Now, for many of us, almost all of our transactions take place by poking the front of our phones at a credit card reader

'She just laughed': Boss refuses to stop overworking employee, causing overdue tasks to be forgotten until boss is forced to do them herself

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 07:00
Telling your boss you have too much on your plate requires a lot of courage, and dealing with the aftermath is usually no picnic either.

Getting to a point where your workplace tasks become too much to handle is something many of us deal with on a daily basis at the office. Bosses love to pile on more and more responsibilities, acting as if you have superpowers that allow you to get to everything in time.

Yet, news flash, no one is capable of doing more than time allows, and no one should overwork themselves just to maintain their boss's unrealistic expectations. Which is why some are forced to confront their managers and tell them they are asking too much.

When the 20-year-old receptionist below did that, her boss simply laughed at her. The receptionist warned her boss that they were unable to complete all their tasks in time for their deadline, and was very clear about how much they were able to do, yet they were met with a dismissive attitude and were told to "figure it out".

The receptionist, however, decided that they did everything in their power to prevent a missed deadline. They informed their boss, and the boss decided not to listen, so whatever happens in the future could not be pinned on them. And that is exactly what happened when the boss discovered the overdue tasks that had no one to tend to them.

21 Photoshop Fails That Nobody Thought to Double Check

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 06:00
Somewhere between editing and publishing, things went very, very wrong. This collection of Photoshop fails is a reminder that not every detail gets the attention it probably should have, and the results are both baffling and impossible to ignore. From extra limbs to gravity-defying proportions, these images somehow made it past the final check. It is the kind of content that makes you look twice, then a third time, just to be sure you are actually seeing what you think you are seeing.

Employee demands 10% raise because he's bilingual, even though his second language is Welsh: 'The manager then told me that the policy meant Spanish'

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 05:00
It's a perk for anyone to be bilingual, but in this workplace environment, it served as justification for a raise.

That's because employees at this company were often required to take work trips to other offices and sites where colleagues and clients did not necessarily speak English. Recently, in order to attract more bilingual employees to the company (and in order to reward current employees who often have to be the point people in these communications), a new policy was enforced where bilingual employees would be granted a 10% raise. Given that these employees often had to take the reins for a lot of these conversations with non-English-speaking clients, the policy seemed fair enough.

Now, the vast majority of these non-English-speaking clients spoke Spanish. Although Spanish was not directly specified as the preferred or required second language in this new policy, management assumed that most employees would understand that the policy only really applied to those who spoke both English and Spanish. However, we all know what happens when you assume…

This employee, who recently took it upon himself to learn Welsh as it is part of his family's heritage, made the case for why he qualified for this raise. Even though management was initially baffled by the request, they were unable to contest it, given that they did not specify which languages applied to the policy. Who knew speaking Welsh in an environment where it was completely unnecessary would prove to be a genuine argument for a salary increase?

Pennsylvania couple arrives at their new rental house and discovers another family already living there and is paying a fake Facebook landlord: ‘Their lease was a single page and their rental payments make no sense’

Wed, 03/25/2026 - 04:00
Moving day is already a disaster movie, but this is next level. Imagine dragging your whole life to a new place, opening the door, and finding out someone else has already called dibs on your future. Boxes in the truck, pets in the car, and surprise, there is a stranger's laundry where your couch is supposed to go

Neighbor sends her sister and teens to swim in a woman's locked, fenced backyard pool, then blames the homeowner for reporting them: ‘There’s a very clear sign that says “Private Property – No Trespassing”’

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 16:00
Both this neighbor and her sister treat other people's property like a public park with better amenities. There is a sign, a fence, a locked gate, a covered pool, cameras everywhere, and somehow a grown adult still looks at that setup and thinks perfect spot for an unscheduled family swim

Artist loses art competition and contacts organizers, judges admit they ruled unfairly

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 14:00
An art competition where the judges don't follow the rules isn't going to end with happy contestants.

As if making it in this world as an artist isn't already a difficult path, competitions like these just make it harder for artists to succeed.

Most artists don't make art as their day job — it's more of a side project, since it can be quite difficult to actually make decent money off of the pieces you sell. Plus, some artists just create things for the fun of it. They're creative people who like being inspired by the artsy community around them.

Friend agrees to babysit 6-year-old for "20 minutes", realizes kid's Mom has vanished

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 12:00
Entitled is the only way to describe this Mom, who randomly left her 6-year-old son with a friend for way longer than expected.

Have you ever babysat for a family without knowing when the parents would arrive home? I highly doubt it.

The parents will ask you to babysit for, say, 6 hours. They'll tell you what to feed the kid for each meal, tell you if they need a nap or a bath, and if you're putting them to bed, they'll tell you all about their bedtime routine.

Most parents get a little anxious when they're away for their kiddos for too long, anyway. They want to know that the children are in good hands

However, for this Mom, the freedom of getting some "me time" away from the kiddo became her own downfall…

21 Flawed Designs Made by Folks Who Had One Job

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 11:00
Who hasn't come across a sign or a structure that was either misspelled or wildly counterintuitive? If you look closely at your surroundings, you're likely to find similar designs that, in practice, make zero sense… made by folks who had one job to fulfill.

16-year-old not invited to a family friend's wedding, but is still expected to lend her $600 chocolate fountain: ‘I’m not close to any of them’

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 10:00
This teen refuses to lend her expensive chocolate fountain for her mother's best friend's wedding, making it clear she owes no one anything and can stand up for herself even under family pressure.

Not everyone deserves to borrow our most treasured possessions. Just because someone has known your family for years doesn't mean they automatically have access to your stuff. It's important to distinguish yourself as an individual from your family as a group. Especially when you are a teen, the limits between yourself and your family are a bit blurry. When they are asked to do something they're uncomfortable with, many teens struggle with standing up to family expectations. Too often, they go along just to keep the peace, but set aside their own wishes. We should separate a family's wishes from each individual's wishes. While this can be really challenging for some parents, this 16-year-old girl knows exactly what she wants and understands she has the right to say no, even to her family.

This $600 chocolate fountain is a gift from her grandfather and is one of her most prized possessions. She's the one who gets to decide if anyone can borrow it. Sure, her mom and sister can point out their arguments, but the final decision is hers. And considering the couple is not inviting her to the wedding, there's no reason her personal boundaries should be overlooked just because her family wants to do a friendly favor. The fountain belongs to her, and if her mom's best friend needs one, she can totally rent one that has no sentimental value.

If I were her, I would definitely find some good excuse not to share it and state it firmly and politely. You never know if they will treat it with care; it can also get damaged or lost, and if I really care about it, I would only lend it to a real friend or someone whom I really trust. Most people would have felt an obligation to help, but this wasn't about a simple chocolate fountain; it was about personal boundaries and respect. Sometimes saying no is the strongest thing you can do.

Neighboring developer chops down two mature ash trees on homeowner's property, to their absolute horror when they return home: 'This is the holy grail of tree law'

Tue, 03/24/2026 - 09:00
A homeowner returned home to find that their mature ash trees that grew from their property across to the empty lot next door had been cut down, an act that the tree trimming business, which had been hired by the developer next door, referred to as "trimming at the property line."
