Top 20 Funny Signs of the Week (March 6, 2024): 'Don't be mad at lazy people. They haven't done anything!'

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 13:00

Life is full of many strange (and potentially misspelled) signs if you're looking carefully enough. It's remarkable how much work a marketing team may put into a billboard without doing a simple spell check or using some common sense with regard to the image they've chosen and how it might be interpreted. You would think that among a group of professionals, someone would have said something with some of these signs. But alas, not everyone is as smart as the readers of FAIL Blog.

These funny signs, most of which are accidental and some of which were intentionally hilarious, were the top posts of the week on Reddit's r/funnysigns subreddit. Our personal favorites include the protest sign about hotel checkout times, the Darth Vader campaign sign, and the sign barring wizards from entering an establishment, the latter of which is yet another reminder that people are either clever or crazy. Keep scrolling below for the full collection. When you're done, check out this list of anonymous confessions.

'I called him out in front of everyone': Employee humiliates boss in group meeting, boss gets punished for poor behavior

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 12:00

No one can agree on the way this person should've talked to their boss.

In any job, communication is key, but it's a skill that one develops over time. You don't enter the workplace at 20 years old already knowing the decorum of an office setting. People might give you weird looks if you speak up loudly during meetings or say something off-putting, and that's just how you learn those things over time.

This person isn't sure if they talked to their boss appropriately or not, so they asked the internet. But citizens of the internet were also divided!

U/danondorf_campbell writes that they are seriously annoyed by their boss's habit of answering questions. Whenever this employee goes to their boss with a simple question, they get a question in response. No matter what the question is, the employee can never get a straight answer, because their boss has to reframe it into a question. The worker reports that they talked about this "multiple times (privately)" with their boss. They also suspect their boss is replying that way to avoid sounding oblivious. No doubt that their boss's habit got old really quickly.

However, the way this employee finally snapped was quite… memorable. While in a meeting with several other people, the OP decided to go on an accusatory tangent about the boss's bad habit. They apparently smoothed things over later on, but people are telling this employee that their days may be numbered at this company.

Next, check out some of the worst concerts people have ever been to, like one singer who just completely ignored the crowd for the entire show.

CEO reveals employee's medical needs in front of entire team: 'Did they finally refill your ADHD meds?'

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 11:00

Talk about unprofessional! There are many instances when the personal details of an employee might come up in general banter during a team meeting. Examples of this include questions like "how was that concert you went to?" or "did you enjoy your trip?" Those are, of course, acceptable. However, questions like "did they refill your ADHD meds?" most certainly fall into the unacceptable category.

What possessed this CEO to think inquiring about this was a good idea? Even privately, that question is inappropriate. All the employee did was relay the fact that they had finally finished a project that had been ongoing since November. There was no simple logical through-line there that could lead to discussing their medical needs, not to mention disclosing those needs in front of their entire team. The employee shared their side of the story via this thread on Reddit, and people in the comments were quick to tell them to contact an employment lawyer and start looking for other work.

'She's up to no good...': Outcast daughter convinces father to remove all pics of half-sister from social media, leading to a family dispute

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 10:00

A family is a place where you can always be yourself, imperfections and all. It's a secure haven. Nevertheless, every family has a unique set of issues that they would have rather kept private, especially in this day and age of social media, where one click may have a profound impact on someone's entire life.

The story that follows is an account of a frustrated sister. The twenty-one-year-old Original Poster (OP) has made the decision to reconnect with her long-lost half-sister. To put things in perspective, OP has a half-sister from her father's previous marriage. Everything seemed to be going smoothly at first; OP and her half-sister were getting along well and had a strong bond. But everything appeared to change when OP shared a photo of her and her father taken at her high school graduation. The half-sister made the decision to contact their father and express her 'concerns' over the situation in question.

So, without giving too much away, be sure to read the story below if you're interested in finding out exactly what was said to the father and how OP got even with her sister!  After you're through, don't forget to read the story of the arrogant guest who mistreats the server and the server's choice to punish the guest in retaliation!

'BOOM, nothing but Bluey': Petty bestie gets revenge on her friend's cheating ex-husband by 'babyfying' his Netflix account

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 09:00

There's nothing more frustrating than losing access to your favorite shows just before the finale is released. With all the tension built up from the show's entirety, few people on this earth deserve to be denied their season finale–except a cheating ex-husband.

The man in our next story may not know why he's had the misfortune of missing out on his favorite shows, but because of the betrayals of his last marriage, he'll only be watching children's TV from now on. According to the ex-wife's petty bestie, there are few luxuries that a cheating ex can remain privy to after a divorce… and free-reign of the communal Netflix account is NOT included in this alimony.

After noticing that the dirtbag ex-husband was still using their old streaming account, one woman's best friend went above and beyond to get the pettiest, most benign revenge possible, by reverting his watch settings to never exceed TV-Y ratings. Scroll to read the entire hilarious tale of how one woman's pettiness meant that some guy out there is deliriously watching Peppa Pig, wondering how he hit rock bottom.

'The disappointment was palpable in the entire stadium': 20+ Concertgoers tell all about the worst shows they've ever attended

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 08:00

Music unites us all. Almost every person loves music, and many of us will jump at the opportunity to see our favorite bands play in person. It's a special occasion when the band you listen to every day arrives in your city to play a show. You and your friends can spend weeks getting hyped up for the concert by making tee shirts and blasting their music through the speakers at top volume. On the day of the concert, you arrive to the stadium expecting to see an amazing show.

For many musicians in big bands, playing gigs is their entire job—and everyone has a bad day at work now and then. Sometimes a member of the band will be off beat, making the song sound strange. Other times, the lead singer refuses to interact with the crowd. In many cases, the arena the band is playing at has sound issues that cause their set to sound a little wonky.

U/EverydayPersons asked the good folks of Reddit to share the times they've "seen a band that left you totally shocked at their terrible performance," citing their own recent concert disappointment. Interestingly, a lot of the commenters who had poor experiences were seeing classic rock bands. You'd think these legacy groups would have the ability to perform flawless shows, but between awkward band dynamics and performers who can't show up ready to sing, there is plenty of room for error.

‘He wouldn't take no for an answer': Employee refuses to attend training that was scheduled on his time off, boss fires him in response

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 07:00

One of the biggest red flags an employer could have is being disrespectful of their employees' time off. When an employee takes time off, it usually signifies that they could not work at that time, and have other matters to attend to. If an employer disregards that time and insists their employees would accommodate the work schedule needs no matter what, then something is extremely off.

The employee in this Reddit story was dealing with the same problem with his boss. The employee was constantly being forced to change his time off for the benefit of the boss until it reached the final straw. OP (original poster) had a weekend off scheduled for months but was told a few weeks before that a mandatory training session was scheduled on the same weekend. OP, who had enough of having to change his plans because of his boss's inability to plan ahead, refused to attend the training. That resulted in the boss's decision to fire OP on the spot.

'Your working hours are 9 to 6': Employee signs out of important meeting right at 6pm after being chastised for leaving a few minutes early days earlier despite having worked hours of overtime

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 06:00

Respect begets respect—and flexibility begets flexibility. It's no surprise that as in the old adage of 'The Golden Rule' along with so many other maxims, if we treat others with esteem they'll be far more likely to do the same. In the context of the modern workplace, this comes into play with a surprising frequency. Say, if a member of the team you're managing needs to leave early one day for an appointment or to take care of a personal errand, not making an issue of this means that they're going to be far more likely to be available and willing to stay late on the occasion that you need help crunching for a looming deadline. However, adamantly declaring that they must be posted at their desk—like a guard outside Buckingham Palace—for the entirety of their contracted hours, is only going to ensure that while they are at their desk for their contracted hours, they are only at their desk for their contracted hours.

Of course, this managerial snafu is an easy one to make, particularly when one is inclined to controlling behavior and prone to outbursts intended to assert authority. Luckily for the rest of us, the ensuing fallout makes for a great story when the workers inevitably share it on the internet years afterward—just as this worker did in the story they originally posted in this popular online community.

'[I called] her fake quitting bluff': Karen threatens to quit, coworker throws impromptu retirement party, forcing her to actually resign

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 05:00

Always be careful with what you tell your coworkers, especially if you're the office Karen. Even a small ounce of self-awareness would lead this office Karen (whose actual name is Agnes… even better) to realize that if she keeps threatening to quit, the concept of leaving will soon become a dangling carrot for everyone else. Eventually, her fake quitting shenanigans caught up with her, and one coworker decided to call her out.

Well, they didn't exactly call her out. Instead, they informed everyone else in the office so they could throw an impromptu retirement party that day. It's the perfect form of petty revenge because it's all under the guise of gratitude and generosity. By the end of the day, practically everyone had congratulated Agnes on her retirement that she basically had no choice but to actually resign. Her coworker shared their side of the story via this thread on Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit, and folks in the comments were quick to give the original poster their flowers for their expert thinking.

'Boss said if I quit now... it's going to ruin my future': Employee fights back after entitled boss won't let him put in 2-week notice

Wed, 03/06/2024 - 04:00

It's always hard to quit a job, but it feels worse to drop a job that you've been looking forward to starting because you have to give up one. No one prepares you for the whole process of putting in your two weeks with your current employer. After the awkward conversation, you then have to work 14 uncomfortable days with your coworkers who already know you're leaving to work somewhere else. But it's really not that personal. Your role can easily be replaced. Sometimes you have to leave your current job in order to grow both personally and professionally.

It even gets trickier if after you have done so, your boss is not going to accept the resignation just like this employee. To make matters even worse, the boss threatened this employee for attempting to quit, saying that it's going to ruin his future if he leaves now. Finding himself in this tough spot, the employed turned to the internet as source of advice and support. Read the whole story below.

'We have rules': Moped driver gets deported from Bali after refusing to pay small traffic fee

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 14:00

Of all the reasons to get kicked out of a country, this might be the most embarrassing.

No vacation goes 100% perfectly—there are always a few hiccups. There are the tiny things, like planning to visit a popular spot, only to find out when you arrive that it's closed for the day. Then there are bigger issues, like that one family member who forgets their passport at home, and remembers once they're at the airport.

It's not every day you encounter problems like this, though. A traveler got deported from Bali just because she wouldn't pay a small fine! As you can check out in the video below, the travel was trying to drive a moped through an area crowded with pedestrians, cars, and other mopeds. She wasn't wearing a helmet, and that's a big problem. It's illegal and unsafe, and police officers let her know this. She claimed her helmet got stolen, which is unfortunate, but it's not a good enough reason for officers to let her off the hook.

15+ Top 'I Told You So' Moments: 'I told my ex-wife's new husband she's a cheater [...] Forward 5 years, they're divorced'

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 13:00

Every so often, you find yourself in a situation where you call a specific outcome from a mile away. This can be a friend's future divorce, a coworker getting fired, or an infuriating neighbor getting their overdue comeuppance. When these outcomes finally come to fruition, it can be oh so tempting to blurt out, "I told you so." Of course, this kind of sassy remark is almost never constructive, but sometimes, you just can't help yourself. As I always say, if everyone in the world listened to me, then things would be right. OK, maybe that's an exaggeration.

The real point here is that the people in your life may never take your unfiltered advice because they would rather hear what they want to hear. If your advice does not align with that, you will likely be ignored. So when your unfortunate prediction becomes a reality, the last thing your friend wants to hear from you is "I told you so."

Still, these folks at the very least needed to share their feelings of vindication via the following r/AskReddit thread. Keep scrolling below for their top stories. For more content like this, check out this compilation of wholesome posts for overworked employees.

'I took a video of me dancing on his desk': 20+ Hilarious quitting stories

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 12:00

A good old-fashioned dramatic quitting can really boost morale. When times are already rough at the workplace, watching someone quit with flair can feel so righteous.

Most people don't quit on the spot. Even if it seems like they're doing that, usually the resentment has been building for some time. There's that common saying that people don't quit bad jobs, they leave due to bad management. Over time, having a micromanaging boss or a supervisor who continually berates you really wears an employee down. One day, that employee will hit their limit and decided they'd rather have no job than take another moment at their current one. Being miserable at a job can break a person down until leaving is all they can think about.

Luckily, it seems like a lot of people who shared stories of the funniest ways they've ever quit have since found much better jobs. In fact, more than 4,000 people shared their stories of the folks who "quit their job in a hilarious fashion." Some people shared their own stories, while others regaled us with tales of their coworkers' final workplace moments. You can check out all the great anecdotes below.

'Karen doing as Karen does': Customer demands extra extra caramel at drive thru, worker maliciously complies

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 11:00

Be careful what you wish for, Karen!

If you're the type of person who sends a drink back at a drive thru, let's clarify a few things first, starting with what are you asking for. If it's a major modification to the menu or an innocent mistake, perhaps reconsider, especially if the line behind you lasts an eternity. This is not a Michelin star restaurant; it's a drive thru. Second of all, remember the old "you get what you get and you don't get upset" saying? That doesn't just apply to your kid, that applies to you too, ma'am. Finally, if you do end up sending something back and if it still is not to your liking, then I have news for you: it's you! Hi! You're the problem, it's you!

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/Cella_Life, who had to deal with a Karen customer's demands for "extra extra caramel" on her order. Keep scrolling below to see what happened when she got exactly what she asked for. Kudos to the manager for stepping in and defending their employee! 'Brake check karma': Reckless driver aggressively makes a sketchy pass then gets exactly what he deserves with a washing machine through his rear window (VIDEO)

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 10:00

Driving has become such a lackadaisical activity that it's easy to forget that we're operating a 7,000lbs lead sled going 80mph on our daily commute. Miraculously, most of us can hit the road with no incidence, narrowly avoiding collisions and slamming on the brakes when we get cut off by an impatient Tesla driver in the fast lane.

As we shake our fists to the wind, sometimes we wish that reckless drivers would be reminded of the perils of the road when they endanger everyone else around them… Sometimes we wish that karma would just take the wheel.

The guy in our next story received a quick kick in the tooshie from karma after attempting to make an incredibly dangerous pass on a one-lane highway. After swerving into oncoming traffic, the thoughtless truck driver tried to floor it to make a pass into a position where there was no space for him. Without checking his blind spot or even heeding the space between his front bumper and the granny in front of him, he received a reality check in the form of blinding red brake lights that may change his opinion about driving like an idiot.

Scroll onward to check out the video of a guy who instantly received a heavy dose of karma after failing to heed others' safety on the roads. (Full video at the bottom)

'$100,000? Yeah, that isn't a life-changing amount anymore': People get realistic when asked what they would do with $100k

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 09:00

No more delusions of grandeur for the people in this economy.

'Dissolve my department... and expect the same output?': Department head costs employer $30k, discovers their boss's "illegal move"

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 08:00

Loopholes can be so sweet. This former department head now knows this all too well after they gained more than two weeks PTO!

Reorganizations aren't usually a positive sign. No matter how much the company insists that workers won't be impacted, they'll all feel the differences in some way. At this university, a reorganization caused the loss of several highly-trained personnel. That's an issue in a specific field, and a major loss for a university. But when the only thing that matters is "pinching pennies," employees are going to be subjected to changes that management thinks are best.

Pinching pennies is one thing, but the head boss at this job isn't even doing things legally. He probably thought he wouldn't get caught. U/Maheu wasn't about to let this dude win, though. They shared the whole story of what went down to the malicious compliance subreddit. The worker also left an additional note in the comments section to add more information to their story.

After you read about this reorg gone totally wrong, regale in the story of the overworked coffee shop manager who took two weeks off, quit, and then blocked their boss's phone number as things immediately started going wrong at the coffee shop

'Before 9 and after 5 don't matter': Employee stops coming in early and working unpaid overtime after being admonished for a long lunch

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 07:00

Focusing intently on petty mistakes and slights is a surefire way to make sure you miss the big picture. As a leader, this is a fantastic way to make your workers feel like they're being micromanaged and have no agency, potentially derailing the entire organization along with the workers' sinking morale. Sure, if someone isn't pulling their weight it makes sense to step in, but when your team member is late back from lunch one time after coming in sometimes hours early, you'd do well to cut them some slack.

This worker worked for a large brokerage, consistently performing to a high standard and undertaking their tasks with a minimal amount of supervision. They'd frequently come in early to get a head start on their day, totaling a large amount of unaccounted time that went unregarded by their managers. One day, after returning ten minutes late from lunch, they were verbally reprimanded for an hour by a manager. When the worker asked the manager if they realized how early they were starting work and how late they were sometimes leading, the manager declared, "It doesn't matter how early you get in or how late you stay, only what happens between nine and five that counts."

So, the worker took that message to heart, no longer coming in early and always leaving right at five when their workday was supposed to end. That ten minutes that the manager had made an issue out of cost the company hours of productivity, eventually leading to the worker's departure. The worker shared that they had heard that it took the organization three workers to cover the work they had been doing alone.

See their story below, along with the reactions from the popular online community where they originally shared it.

‘Yup, can't start it from ‘drive’': Obtuse driver gives his mechanic friend the cold shoulder, ends up paying hundreds for a tow truck when nothing is wrong with his car

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 06:00

Car troubles can make people crazy. When there's a rattling under the hood or the engine light comes on (again), it's hard to keep your cool and stay level-headed. However, this guy in our next story completely unraveled when his car was "malfunctioning", but instead of consulting his mechanic friend for help, he dug his heels in on a totally incorrect theory.

This obstinate dude learned his lesson the hard way… When it comes to car troubles, stay in your lane and consult the experts.

Let's be honest, we all know that things can get a little troublesome when we're in a frenzy over figuring out what's going wrong with our vehicles, but always remember to do a sanity check before jumping to call a tow truck. If you're anything like this guy, you may learn that your car has a safety feature not to start when you have the transmission in 'Drive'.

Sometimes it's as simple as that.

Toxic manager uses IT to track employee's devices: 'I am looking for a new job immediately'

Tue, 03/05/2024 - 05:00

No one likes to feel like they are being watched at all times, especially by your boss. Sure, a manager has a responsibility to ensure that the employees on their team are fulfilling their roles; however, there is never a need to watch someone's every move. Not only is that weird, but it's also a waste of time and energy. Nine times out of ten, bosses who spend all that time micromanaging could have used that time to for a million other more important priorities. But that's the thing about authority figures: they often enjoy flexing their muscles more than anything else.

This thread was posted to Reddit by u/ieb94, who discovered that their manager was using IT to gain remote access to all of their work devices simply because the employee took a minute to get back to them on a busy day. Seriously? Shouldn't the manager be grateful that their employee had a lot on their plate work-wise and was busy getting it all done? Of course, this massive invasion of privacy became the straw that broke the camel's back for the employee, who has since been looking for new work.

Keep scrolling below for the full story and for the best reactions in the comments section. When you're done, check out this post about an employee who got back at their manager for enforcing their work hours.
