37 Funny Food Fails for Home Cooks Who've Had Dinner Plans Go South

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 15:00
You win some, you lose some, and usually that's fine. Then there are the food-lottery losses. Those that wait until you have planned an entire dinner, gone grocery shopping, lugged every bag home, washed your hands, tied back your hair, and started developing main character energy for your own cooking show.

When the grocery store gives you a decent avocado instead of a tiny green cannonball, the delivery order arrives with all its parts, or your leftovers have not developed a fluffy, furry personality overnight. These are small victories, and we take them where we can get them.

But when you're halfway through the recipe and the universe reveals that the bacon is 99% fat, or the chocolate you planned on melting for a cake is, for some reason, a powder. I, for one, would make the nearest food thermometer blow its cap just from the temperatures inside of me rising.

Beautiful young Siamese stray cat found at brewery, only when she's taken home does new cat pawrent realize she's pregnant: 'Out popped 6 kittens!'

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 14:30
New cat pawrent was bound to find out one way or another.

Sometimes the cat distribution system surprises us with more than just a stray cat looking for a home. This guy was at a brewery when he sees a beautiful young Siamese stray cat. He takes her home and then to the vet. Somehow the veterinarian's there missed something crucial about this cat, and that was that she's pregnant. No one knew until 6 kittens popped out: 3 other Siamese, two tuxedo, and one grey cat. He keeps the grey little guy and names him Grimm. So next time you just think you're having an after work drink, think again! The cat distribution system has no mercy!

Owner worries for his tuxedo cat after moving from farm to 2 bedroom apartment, he gets unanimous encouragement to adopt another cat: 'Would my 12-year-old kitty do well with a friend?'

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 13:45
Cats need friends too!

We're not the only creatures on earth who want a friend. Most species in the animal kingdom are social in some way. Even ones, like cats, who are known for being unfriendly, or introverted, or hard to predict are just furballs who want attention at the end of the day. They still want love and companionship just like a person would. Take this tuxedo cat for instance, he used to be an indoor/outdoor cat. He would be friends with other cats, dogs, chickens, and other animals. He was used to tons of stimulation, freedom, and engagement from others. Throughout the years, there have been tons of changes. The owner moves from a farm life to a 2 bedroom apartment, and that means the cat's life goes to strictly indoors. There's a lot of differences for this little kitty now that he's living in a 4 wall environment. The owner questions whether he should get him a companion since the tuxedo seems more bored than his usual self. The internet responds unanimously in that he should definitely get another cat. Read the story below, and consider getting a cat today!

20-year-old tells her 12-year-old orphan cousin the truth about his inheritance, enrages her mother who controls the cousins money

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 13:00
Was she right to tell him what's going on with his money?

Inheritance is one of those things that is not frequently discussed in polite society, and for good reasons. It's kind of a morbid reality that young people can come into a great sum of money after the passing of their grandparents or parents. No aging person wants their kids and grandkids to be waiting around for them to pass away, hungry to get a piece of the fortune they've been building up over the years. Putting a monetary value on your relationship with your familial elders eats away at your soul. It's best to try to enjoy the time you have with your elders for as long as you can, because once they're gone, you'll finally know that their presence was worth more than all the money in the world.

If you come from a family without generational wealth, you might feel bitter about people who are able to finance their entire life on windfalls from inheritance. After all, someone who gets $2M from an eccentric uncle didn't work hard to achieve their riches. Even if they had a close relationship with their late family member, that's not tantamount to doing the work required to make $2M from nothing. Inheritance only really benefits the people who were set up to succeed in society from the day they were born. A ton of people who receive inheritances had their college tuition paid for by their parents, grew up upper-middle class, and would've been well-off financially even without receiving life-changing amounts of money from a loved one beyond the grave.

Sometimes, people are jealous of the money that someone receives under horrible circumstances. The kids in this story just lost their parents, and even though their aunt is taking care of them, it seems like she might be after their money. What do you think?

'They all know there is an absence and have stepped up to comfort him': After losing his senior cat brother, grieving cat turns to the family dogs he's always kept his distance from for comfort, and they welcome him with open paws

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 12:00
Our pets can feel what we feel, and they know when we need them the most.

Cats and dogs have a reputation for not getting along too well. Even as pets, living in the same home under the same roof, they might not be the closest. And that's okay. They speak different languages, and although we, as their owners, of course want to see them cuddling and happy and being best friends forever… we know that it is okay if they are not. They just need to get along. It's okay if our cat prefers cuddling with us or if our cats prefer cuddling with each other. All we need is for them to be happy, whatever their terms may be.

That was the case in the household in today's story. Two cats and two dogs, and everything was great. The cats and dogs may not have been the bestest of friends, but they got along. They just weren't all over each other. The cats preferred each other's company and so did the dogs. They grew up and grew old together. And then, tragedy. The day that we all fear the most. One of the senior cats crossed the rainbow bridge, and the owner's first concern… was for the other cat. His best friend was gone, and the owner was terrified that it would destroy their other cat as well.

Except then, the most beautiful and unexpected thing happened. The same dogs that the cat had no interest in before suddenly became a source of comfort. Suddenly, he started going to them and cuddling with them. And the dogs… the dogs could sense that he needed them. Everyone in the house knew that there was an absence, and everyone was there to comfort one another.

Aunt allows niece to live at her house only on the condition that she eventually learns how to drive, she will even get her a car, but the niece is terrified of driving: 'I’m not trying to punish her or force her to drive because I think she should'

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 11:30
Sometimes you have to make a big effort for something that you want.

There is this new trend of not forcing people to do things that they don't want to, which is excellent, but also if it's something that they NEED to do. We, humans, have obligations, things that we don't want to do at all, but we have to. Life is like that. You have to do things you don't want to, and you have to deal with it. You can't cry your way out of it or say no. That isn't an option. So you just do it and deal with it internally, as nobody cares if you want to do the thing or not. They just care that you do it. That is what it is like being an adult.

In the story below, we encounter a girl who I actually feel sorry for. She doesn't want to learn how to drive a car. She's afraid of it. Unfortunately, she has no way out of learning, as she needs to if she's going to move to her aunt's house. She HAS to learn. Even if she's afraid, even if she doesn't want to. She has time and resources to do so, but she can't wrap her head around it. And I get it. It's hard. But the only way that she gets to live with her aunt is by learning to drive. So she needs to weigh the choices and see if this fear is going to dictate her life or if she will.

She has another option, one she doesn't like. She can move to another family member's house. It's not ideal, and it would be better for her to live with her aunt. But that decision is completely up to her. Either she learns and gets what she wants, or she doesn't and deals with the consequences of it. She has to make that choice, not her fear, not her family. She has. And I'm sure that if she tries, she's going to succeed. So let's hope she ends up learning and living where she wants.

Your Weekly Meowgazine: 20 ICanHasMoments to Make Your Caturday Feel Like a Cozy Fall Day (September 5, 2026)

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 11:15
Another Caturday starts with a recap of the bestest cat content of the week!

Caturday. Finally. The most purrfect morning of the week. Finally, a day that we start by doing our favorite thing in the world… staying in bed for a while. Listen, we love being productive. Sometimes. But after a long work week, all that we want is to spend some time in bed, tucked under a blanket with our cats. Especially now, when it's getting a little colder, and our cats are getting cuddlier, that is all that we need to start our Caturday morning purrfectly. Well, almost. We also need our weekly Caturday meowgazine, with a recap of the best cat content of the week.

This is how you start a day on the right paw - by scrolling through some silly cat memes and wholesome cat stories and smiling. Smiling first thing in the morning is the best thing for our mental health, and smiling, for us, means starting the day with cats. Our real ones and the cutest ones from the interwebs. Have a beautiful Caturday, everyone!

Woman is handed 2 soaking wet kittens found in the rain by a neighbor, and despite it being the hardest month of her life, she knows that it was faith that brought them together and takes the kittens home

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 10:30
When a neighbor hands you two soaking wet kittens to save, you know they came straight from the CDS.

Cat people like us - we know about the CDS. Some people who get handed a cat by the universe don't know why it is happening to them. They see it as weird, as unique, as something that only they could ever experience. We, of course, know that this is false. It's not "the universe". It's the CDS. And the CDS works in meowsterious ways. That is why I have - thus far - only been chosen once. It's why my husband has only been chosen once so far. We're waiting for it to happen again, but we know that it is not up to us. The CDS will give us our next cat when it is ready. And we will be ready for it. In fact, we are always ready. And when the CDS finally calls our name, we will know it. It will not catch us by surprise.

The person in today's story, she was ready too. She knew about the CDS for the longest, and she didn't try to push it. She knew that it would come to her when the time was right. And right when she was having the worst month of her life, a neighbor came knocking on her door with not one, but with two kittens rescued from the rain. The neighbor couldn't take care of them, but they knew the one person who would. And she knew that these two soaking-wet kittens in need of help were sent to her straight from the CDS. So, she did not fight it. Not for one second.

Employee finds himself involuntarily third-wheeling a workplace secret romcom: ‘One of them handed the other a coffee, looked him dead in the eye, and said, "I got you the oat milk. Because I know how your stomach gets." In the middle of a budget crisis’

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 10:00
An office managerial rom-com couldn't be better for the office culture

Look, if your managers have rose-tinted glasses on, trust me, you're gonna have a blast at your job, and it won't matter if your performance isn't the best; they'll be prone to forgiving you, so make sure you protect (and even encourage) any secret romance that might be flourishing in the higher spheres right now.

Also, with that, be prepared for their first fight and how all that negative energy will be transmitted to you. It will likely be a '500 Days of Summer' situation, but well, I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemy, so I hope it's not.

Either way, it's funny that it's even happening; at least to me, some gossip to discuss with my teammates over long, boring work hours while sippin' on some disgusting coffee is the best thing that can happen. Plus, we can watch it live! And it's supposed to be secret! I mean, could it get any better? A soap opera director couldn't have written a juicier plot, and honestly, I kinda wish I was the protagonist.

Are we all thirdwheeling right now, or is it just me? Gosh, when is it going to be my turn? I'm waiting for my boss to hire a cute guy; that's my excuse. Having an office crush is the most effective motivation there is to put in the extra work, if you know what I mean. I'd be showing up with a full face of makeup at 7 am sharp, for sure.

Of course, there is the minor detail that this employee can't even ask a basic question because the two lovebirds are very distracted, loving each other, but isn't it better? Maybe he can even leave work early, and no one would tell, lol.

Woman can't return a birthday present from a friend, so she makes a last-ditch effort: ‘Her message said "any chance you could just send me the cash instead?" She put the receipt total in there as well, $63.48, and she followed up again on Sunday’

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 09:00
Desperate times call for desperate measures

I don't know if you've ever been there, but when you suddenly need money, everything becomes an opportunity to get it. That jacket that's been sitting in your closet for ages? Fair enough, it's time to (desperately) sell it. That present you didn't like? It's about time to return it.

It's not easy to be in a desperate economic situation, but in any case, that's not your friend's responsibility; you shouldn't make them 'pay' for that. There might not even be a problem asking them for the money if you need someone to lend it to you, but I don't think they should give you money just because the store refused to give it to you and only gave you store credit.

On the one hand, it's incredibly ungrateful and, dare I say, distasteful, but on the other hand, it just makes no sense.

Is it normal to expect this from a friend who kindly gifted you something? Wouldn't it be better to just ask for the money if you need it than to make it about a gift? Is the gifter friend beeing too nice about it?

Friend gets mad at colleague for getting a job that he would have wanted to get even though he didn’t even know it was available nor applied to it: ‘He's come to my city and had an interview for a job in our field, in my city, without telling me anything’

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 08:15
Looking for a job doesn't mean that you deserve the position.

If you were actively looking for a particular job in your field and around your city and you didn't realize there was an opening that perfectly fit your expectations, then you aren't looking the correct way at all. If I had a friend who had become a colleague, as we studied the same and we dedicate our lives to the same thing, and they got a job that is close to where I live, so now they would move closer, I would be thrilled. Your friend and colleague, whom you like (that's why he is your friend), is moving closer to you and got the job he wanted. If you aren't happy for him, then you seem more like a hater than an actual friend.

Friends get happy for their friends' achievements. But not u/Throwaway130491. He got jealous over her friend getting a great job. And what makes everything worse is that he started to blame other things, not to admit that the problem he has with his friend staying at his place is actually the fact that he is jealous that he got a job he thinks he deserves just because he needs it. Being out of a job is hard, and you can be having a particularly hard time with it. But that doesn't mean that you can be out of your mind. A job is a job. A friendship is more than that. There will be other openings.

What gets me the most about this situation is the fact that this person is sure that if his friend had told him about the job, then he would have gotten it. That is an assumption, not a fact. When you are looking for a job, you are the one in charge of getting the interviews, not your friends. Especially when they are also looking for opportunities. So take the L and move on. The friend is going to live closer, and this person is only thinking of what would have been but never will be.

Your Weekly Binge of the Best ‘LOLcat’ Cuteness From Cat Meme Lovers Around the World

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 08:00
Get ready to ruuuuuuuuuuuuumbleeeeeeee! Here are all your LOLcat creations in one hissterical binge. Smiles incoming, so prepare your faces for grins and guffaws aplenty.

What's up, Lolcatters? I hope y'all had a great week. I'm not here to beat around the bush, so let's get right into it.

I know that change can be scary; believe me, I'm a Virgo. Whether you believe in all that astrology stuff or not, every purrson has some level of fear of the unknown. And especially in today's world, where things can change quite quickly, it can feel nearly impawssible to keep up with the never-ending march of "progress". But, change is also the catalyst for new opportunities, new expurriences, and new pawssibilities you might never have even thought of before.

LOLcats is part of the original founding DNA of Cheezburger. Many of you treat it like your safe space, an online community where you can communicate with the world's best format ever created: cat memes. Like I mentioned in previous posts, I've fought hard to keep LOLcats alive for many years. I'm not here to make excuses or bore you with the details, but in my eyes, LOLcats will stay active no matter what life throws at us. Where would the world of feline funnies be if not for your years of contributions to the internet? Needless to say, we're now pouncing because you waddled through and paved the way.

I know that the format change from a daily scrollable feed to a once-a-week dump can be frustrating. However, I'm choosing to think of it like waiting for my favorite series to release a new episode every week. It meowtivates me to get through the week with something to look forward to, and let's be honest, couldn't we all use something exciting and hissterical to look forward to at the end of every week? With the world in as grim a state as it currently is, a light at the end of the tunnel should always be welcomed with open arms.

Anyway, I'm getting off my soapbox now to let your weekly binge of LOLs begin. Take care of yourselves, remember to find meowments to smile, and be the reason somebody giggles today.

Woman constantly receives false accusations from her boyfriend, leading her to consider breaking up: ‘He constantly jumps to conclusions about what I mean instead of just taking my words at face value. I don’t want to constantly defend myself’

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 07:30
This has to be one of the most annoying things somebody can ask you

You are lying there, feeling just fine; you are finally relaxed after a long week of stress and drama. Suddenly, out of the blue, your boyfriend comes and asks you the most low-key insulting question, without you signaling anything in particular, and maybe while you were even feeling pretty: 'Are you ok?' 'You seem tired or stressed.' 'You look sick'.

Are you kidding me? You're left there, unable to snap back because they weren't being outwardly violent, but also feeling bad because the remarks were low-key insulting about your appearance or demeanor.

One time is ok; I can understand it. My face might not be looking its best, but constantly? Come on.

Looking at it from the outside, the boyfriend obviously has a personal issue or anxiety that he's trying to project onto her. The thing is, when you are in a relationship that works like this, it's very easy to get confused and to start asking yourself whether you might be the problem

Let's be clear: not every issue is solved solely by breaking up; there are a million things you can try before, but breaking up should always be on the table.

Nobody should try to put up with everything; some things are simply off the table and are the other person's problems, and they should solve them by themselves.

Pawrent thinks it may be time for her 22-year-old senior cat Missy to say goodbye, calls the vet in tears, then gets more precious days to spoil her feline child

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 07:15
How do you know when it's time to let go of your most precious pet?

Saying goodbye is never easy. It's even harder to know when the right time is to say goodbye. Sometimes, it's obvious; the signs are staring you in the face, and you are left with no choice. But other times, the signs happen gradually, over time, and are much more subtle. Your pets start to move a lot slower than they used to. They're not as interested in playing anymore. You have to coax them to finish their food, or even eat at all. They seem to slowly fade away, a ghost of the puppy or cat they used to be. But when is the right time to say "enough is enough"?

Sometimes you will feel like you're making the wrong decision, and it's important that you listen to not only your vet's advice, but also your gut instinct, as Missy's mom did. Missy is a 22-year-old sweet senior cat, and her pawrent got heartbreaking news from the vet - making her think that Missy's time was closer than she imagined. Friends, family, everyone told her to get it over with before she regretted waiting too long.

So she made the appointment to say her final goodbye.

But as the days approached the appointment, she felt that something was wrong. It wasn't Missy's time, not yet. She called the vet crying, and they reassured her that there was still time for her to spoil her fur baby for more days to come.

At 22-years-old, Missy will never "get better", not even a cat can escape old age for long. But, for now, pet and pawrent get more time to cuddle together, eat together, and make a few more memories before that time eventually comes.

'40 was way too many garlic cloves': Ridiculous recipe substitutions that led to cooking disasters

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 06:45
How hard can it be to follow a recipe?

All it takes is some basic reading comprehension and the ability to follow basic instructions. It's not like you even have to read the overly long personal anecdote at the top of the recipe blog, or even do that much critical thinking. All that a simple, well-written recipe needs is for the cook to pay attention long enough to get the critical parts right.

Sure, everybody who has ever cooked something has made their mistakes when trying to whip up a meal. It is only natural to get distracted, skip a crucial ingredient or step, and be left wondering why you ever trusted yourself to make this particular food at all.

However, perspective is everything when it comes to the ups and downs of learning to make a meal. If you ever want to get better, you have to be humble and own the mistake. It happens to everyone! While it can be frustrating, it isn't worth being angry about it for too long, and if it is a problem with the recipe, you can move on to a new one.

We might think that this is basic common sense, but you wouldn't always think that to read the comment sections of recipes online. There always seems to be one outlier who insists that they did nothing wrong and somehow, they made something disgustingly inedible. It might be something to do with the weird substitution they decided on, but who is to know? If only they made it obvious to us.

'Men are temporary, cats are forever': 25 meowing memes for constant cat-cuddlers

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 06:30
Hugging your cat is the best, isn't it?

Cat pawrents partake in many activities involving their cats, with or without your feline overlord allowing it or not. What can we do? We can't help it that, despite them being the fluffy house dictators, they're also such cutie patooties you just want to smoosh all the time. Cats are the cutest kings and queens that have ever existed. Ones that, instead of bowing to them (or in addition - we don't judge), you kiss the little space between their ears. Instead of calling them "my liege" (or in addition - we really don't judge), you pet their little floofy bellies.

Some cats like to be hugged and some less so, but we all hug our cats to some capacity in the end. It doesn't matter how hard is their ruling iron paw, how sassy your cat is, in the end - cats are our babies. And that's the beautiful cat duality we all experience: they're both our undisputed monarchs and our teeny tiny cute babies. They both rule our lives and houses like no boss ever could, but they're also smol creatures that we spoil with many an extra snack.

And all that comes through in the most beautiful way in cat memes. They're hissterical, but also wholesome. They're belly-aching funny, but also "aww"-inducing. They're both silly and adorable. Cat memes are basically a great representation of what cats are - and we love it all.

Caturday Lolcat Cuteness Created by the 'I Can Has Cheezburger' Community With Love and LOLs

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 05:45
Welcome to the new way to view your very own lolcats - the very best cat memes on the internet!

There's something extra nostalgic about lolcats, especially if you've been on the internet for more than a minute. It's been about 20 years since lolcats appeared in our online life (when, exactly, sources differ), and they rose to absolute fame right here, on our humble platform of a comedic cat-loving website, I Can Has Cheezbueger.

But did you know the first lolcats date back to - get that - the end of the 19th century? Crazy, right? Apparently, cat memes were sort of invented by this one early British photographer from the 1870s, named Harry Pointer (which is so close to being Harry Potter we're mad it's not, just for the sake of it). He used to make cats pose for the camera, and when he developed the pictures, he'd add short and funny captions written on them - much like modern lolcats that we all love and cherish.

And since we all love to see the lolcats you all make today, we round up all the recent ones in one place, right here, that'll go up weekly. Make sure to tune in every Caturday to view your creation! They're all filled with cats and humor from the best community online. Masy Ceiling Cat keep you and your lolcats safe for another week of loling!

Bride calls out sister-in-law's un-touched up roots on her wedding day, sister-in-law storms out and family berates her: 'I just couldn't get past that comment'

Fail Blog - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 04:15
What would it take for you to storm out of someone's wedding?

Weddings can be pressure cookers. They're expensive, big events that take a lot of personalities and egos and put them into one room. If there is tension in the family already, weddings can exacerbate it. This is why we hear so many stories of families going at it on someone's big day. This story was no exception. Sometimes you just don't get along with your in-laws. For whatever reason, you got off on the wrong foot, and it feels impossible to recover from. You wish you could set aside your differences for the sake of family harmony, but that seems impossible. You don't want to have to put up with someone who doesn't have a lot of respect for you, and you shouldn't have to. But what happens during family events when you're all expected to be there? Do you just swallow your true feelings for the sake of keeping the peace or do you let it all out and face the consequences?

In a situation like this, it's not just the two of you who are in an argument that it affects. It affects the whole family. When you're trying to come together to have a nice time, all it takes is one person to ruin it for everyone. At a wedding, it's undoubtedly the happy couple's day. Whatever they say goes, and if you're going to get in the way of that, you should probably leave. But what if your leaving the event has a lot more effect on the rest of the party? Is it better to stay and be miserable or leave and risk making a big scene? If you can't be mature about something, then it's better to leave it where it is. Having a blowout argument with the bride on her wedding day is not in great taste, so the woman in this story probably did the right thing by leaving. Her family didn't think so, though. Keep reading for all the details of the story and decide what you think about it.

22 Wholesome Cats for a Softer Day on the Internet (September 4th, 2026)

LOL Cats - Sat, 09/05/2026 - 03:15
A little feline sweetness to make the internet feel less… interntet-y.

August is always a hectic and crazy month. A lot is going on… from the quietness that we have during those summer months, in which people leave to go on vacation, we suddenly have everyone back to work and school. Cities get crowded and noisy again, and there's too much information. As a consequence, people use their phones maybe a little more because they need to escape from all of the craziness, and unfortunately, the internet might not be the best place to find some comfort when you need it.

Well, it depends on what you do when you're with your phone. If you're scrolling through bad news and sad things, then you won't feel better. But if you make the conscious choice of picking something that you know is good and wholesome, than you'll probably going to feel the relief you're looking for. Now that we have so much more knowledge about the internet, we have to be more mindful about the things we decide to consume. That's an active choice that we can make and that can seriously impact the way we feel.

If you're not sure about what to look for when trying to have your spirits up, this might be a good place to start. Cats, and animals in general, do not have these needs to have their spirits lifted. They just live based on their instincts and are forced to be very in tune with the way they feel and the things they want to do. You've seen them: if they want to eat, they eat; if they are tired, they sleep. It's so much simpler for them, and there's a lot that we can learn and appreciate.

So, if you feel like maybe you need a quiet moment to recharge, then you're in a good place. So, sit comfortably, grab yourself a little tea, and dig into these wholesome cats that are here to remind you to be more in tune with yourself and to focus more on those things that make you happy.

Employee wants to quit her job after being reprimanded for arriving at work early: ‘The write-up stated that I arrived at work 5 minutes early instead of 10 minutes early every day for a week after being instructed to get to work earlier’

Fail Blog - Fri, 09/04/2026 - 16:15
I'm starting to believe some managers simply don't like us and will find any reason to make it our responsibility

It's really not that hard to believe; it's just like with teachers: it's not that you failed the exam because you didn't study and spent your afternoons playing Xbox; it's because they didn't like you! No, but seriously, how do you justify writing up somebody who arrives 5 minutes early every day?

This can change depending on the culture, but pretty much universally, being late is arriving AFTER the time you're supposed to start. This employee not only arrives on time, but she's also arriving early, so how can the manager keep a straight face while telling her what he told her? That's why I say he might be coming up with a random excuse just to push her to quit. Those things happen.
