'What I asked for vs. what I got': 20 Major nail fails that were not worth the money

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 12:00

Imagine paying for these nail polish nightmares… Well, a lot of people did just that, as they shared with photos that tell the whole story.

Getting your nails done is a lovely treat, but it doesn't come cheap. When you go to the salon, you show the nail artist your dream nails, and you just hope they have the skills to do so. Not every manicurist can do it, and it seems like a lot of them need more practice. That won't stop some nail artists from charging high prices, as a few of the people with botched nails revealed.

Some of the people below ended up paying for nails that were totally crooked. Other people's nails look like a toddler got a hold of a bottle of nail polish. It's all about precision with nail painting, and even a few centimeters of wobbly linework can ruin the whole set.

Check out this collection of nail fails down below. Then, read about the project manager who admitted it was "very petty of me" as they sent out a 600+ page PDF via email.

'The three [Karens] were banned': Trio of entitled customers try to get sandwiches for free, guy behind them in line gets them thrown out for good

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 11:00

Most folks have had the unfortunate experience of waiting in line behind a Karen customer, but believe it or not, it could be worse. Just ask this dude, who ended up waiting in line behind three Karens.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/jarjarmullet, who silently watched as this trio of entitled older ladies kept giving modification upon modification to their order. This, of course, frustrated the sole employee making sandwiches as well as the long line of customers behind the ladies, but they did not seem to care. In fact, by the time they were finally paying for their lunch, they tried to get their food for free because of the long wait, as if they were not largely responsible for how long it took.

That's when the original poster (OP) stepped in and decided to do everyone a favor and pay for the sandwiches himself. However, he wasn't exactly as generous as the Karens thought. After paying, he took the food he rightfully purchased and left, which left the Karens scrambling. Keep scrolling below to see what happened when they got the police involved. For more stories like this, take a look at this post about a job applicant who was asked to donate to the company that just rejected her. The audacity of some peopl!

25 Technology Memes for the Employees in Need of Tech Support

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 10:00

Staying up to date with technology has become an essential part of working-class life. It can be exhausting, especially with how quickly technology is advancing today. Think about it: not long ago, the internet didn't even exist. Now, we have a whole generation of employees working remotely or in a hybrid capacity. Who would've thought? But no matter your job, whether you work in a corporate office, factory, or restaurant, technology is constantly changing. New software to improve work processes, new robots to move the lines along quicker, or those dang QR codes to see a menu, we are all constantly evolving. Mentally, we can't keep up. Tech support at any company has their hands full as we struggle to keep up with the new trends. We're still out here restarting our computers when we encounter any minor convenience, yet the workforce is trying to throw new tech at us. So, shoutout to all of the IT and tech support employees out there; work would be chaos without you.

25+ Employees share what their job doesn't allow them to tell customers: 'Black Friday sales are not really sales'

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 09:00

There are tons of marketing ploys out there nowadays by big corporations trying to make more money. They may not make sense to us, the consumers, or even the employees, but they are policies set in stone that only upper management can dictate.

I get groceries from a small, local grocery store where I live. Say I'm buying vegetables, and there might be a sign that says, "2 for $5!" I think to myself, "Might as well get two if they are on sale since I'm getting a deal." But then I notice in very tiny fine print it says, "Originally $2.50." That's not a deal! It's just a marketing ploy to get customers to buy more of their product. And sadly, I've probably fallen for it numerous times out of sheer laziness. This phenomenon was confirmed by a former retail worker who shared, "Black Friday sales are not really sales," essentially confirming the same tactics that I see from my local grocer. But what about other industries? What are they not telling their customers? Keep scrolling to hear from 25+ employees about what their jobs won't let them tell you.

20 Out of the box thinkers who were low key geniuses

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 08:00

You don't need to go to college to be a genius. You don't even have to finish high school! Some people are born with brains that think outside the box in ways that can't be taught. These people can do incredible things, as you'll see in this collection of photos below.

When it comes to creating new inventions, you don't need anything fancy. Check out that truck driver whose arm was hurting from resting it on the open window. Instead of letting their arm ache all day, the driver just cut up a pool noodle and put it on the window. That's a brilliant solution that probably costs under a dollar and can be removed at any time.

Along with innovative inventors, we also have included some crafty signwriters who thought of new ways to sell popular products. I'm thinking about the sign for eggs that's labeled "boneless chicken 35¢". It probably made a bunch of shoppers stop and laugh or take a photo, which is great for business. And of course, they probably bought a few "boneless chickens" too.

Check out these unsung heroes who were really thinking outside the box. Then, read about the travelers who ruined a bunch of expensive hiking clothes in the wash due to a bizarre miscommunication.

Misguided guy claims to have eaten 400 Tic-Tacs a day and gained 40 lbs: '[I] didn't realize that Tic-Tacs weren't actually 0 calories'

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 07:00

There's something to be learned here about not taking things at face value and using a little common sense to draw a more logical conclusion. Often in life, things are simplified for us in order to cater to the lowest common denominator and, in the process, obfuscate the actual point of the information that was supposed to be communicated in the first place.

An extreme example of this is our entire understanding of chemistry; we're taught from our days in middle school chem class—clear through an undergraduate bachelor's in chemistry—that reactions and the quanta of energy exchange happen in a definable "Lego building brick" sort of way, only for the curtain to be pulled back at the last possible moment when your lecturer tells you in the final course of the degree that everything you've learned is actually an oversimplification and not really how things work at all… Cue existential crisis.

Client micromanages truck driver over delivery, trucker sends dozens of pointless photos for revenge: 'You want updates, I will give you all the updates'

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 06:00

No one wants to be micromanaged. Whether by a boss, a coworker, a partner, or even a family member, as an adult, we can handle things on our own. There is nothing more insulting than having someone constantly checking in on you to make sure you are getting things done. Well, that's just what happened to this truck driver when he was making a delivery to a client. He had to drive only a few hours and was running way ahead of schedule. As a trucker, sometimes the client has you install a tracking app so they can keep track of where their delivery is. But this entitled client took it even further. They wanted constant updates and photos of where their delivery was. The delivery in question? Six pallets of onions. That's it. But that didn't stop them from harassing their driver to make sure he was en route. So, the trucker decided to maliciously compile with their request for constant updates. After dealing with him, I bet they wished they never bothered in the first place.

25+ bosses who instantly regretted taking on their new hires: '[She] started crying as soon as the phone rang saying she couldn't handle it'

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 05:00

Every new hire deserves time to adjust to their new workflow, but sometimes it becomes instantly obvious that hiring someone was a mistake. There are several ways in which this can happen. For starters, the new hire could be one of those rare unicorns who is actually good at interviewing for positions despite being remarkably unqualified. On the other hand, it's quite possible that it was the company's fault. Perhaps the job requirements and expectations were unclear, and the only people to blame were the recruiters and hiring managers who did not clarify anything. Or perhaps this new employer-employee dynamic is simply not working socially, culturally, or financially.

Here, we have a number of stories in which bosses instantly regretted fighting for a certain job candidate. Whether it was an inappropriate remark made by the employee during their first week or an unforeseen circumstance getting in the way of their work, most of these employees did not last at their respective companies for very long.

Keep scrolling below for the full stories. For more, check out this post about a job candidate who was asked to donate to the company that just rejected her.

‘You do you, I’m happy to split': Friendship ends after double date turns awkward when one friend offers to split the check and the other insists 'It's always the gentlemen who pay'

Fri, 04/26/2024 - 04:00

"I'm now not a 'girls girl' because I didn't back her, without being told I should or given any kind of heads up. I responded that if I want to pay for myself (especially because I didn't see myself and the blind date friend having a second date) was happy to put in for my portion. Friendship is effectively over, and I am looking to move out."

44 Scrubby Nurse Memes for Snarky RN's Working Another 12-Hour Shift at the Hospital

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 16:00

On paper, working a couple of 12-hour shifts in a row sounds doable. After 5 minutes in the ICU debating pain levels with a sassy patient who claims they're allergic to cold air, those shifts start to feel more like a prison sentence. That's why nurses are an entirely different breed in the workforce. Although they're nearly as experienced as a doctor, they do twice the work with zero glory, taking out bedpans, flipping patients, and taking vitals like there's no tomorrow. We may look ergonomic in our scrubs and our Crocs, but nurses are suffering from carrying the entire hospital on their backs!

So if you're in desperate need of an IV drip of humor on your day off or just need a second to yourself in the utility closet, scroll through this collection of scrubby nurse memes that'll surely reanimate your heart and invigorate your senses. Because at the end of the day, when the nurses are in their best mood, so is everybody else.

'I gave her exactly what she asked for': Micromanager boss scolds employee for lateness, regrets it when employee stops working long hours

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 14:00

You know your work environment is toxic if you have to describe your supervisor as a "tyrant." This employee had one of those bosses that no one likes. Not a single person in the company is happy to see that boss when she walks in the door, probably because she had a habit of flipping out over any and everything.

No one wants to have a micromanager boss, especially not one who is constantly flipping out. It's not good to have to be in a constant state of fight or flight over office work! And this employee was used to having chill managers that weren't even around half the time, so starting work with this overbearing boss was surprising, to say the least.

Instead of offering flexible hours, this boss decided it was more important to demand her employees be in the office from 8-4 every day, no exceptions. Hey, if you don't have to work late, those hours are pretty sweet, as this person found out through their own crafty malicious compliance.

'The mullet is totally coming back': 25+ worst pieces of advice that former high school students regret taking

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 13:00

People love giving unsolicited advice to high school students, even if that advice is unfounded, misguided, and totally unproductive.

For instance, the concept that these four years will determine how you end up spending the rest of your life is not only incredibly false but also potentially damaging to a teenager. Most of these nuggets of so-called "advice" likely stem from adults who have complex relationships with their own high school experiences. Perhaps they regret their approach to their school work or social lives. Or perhaps they are burdened with such delusion that they have fully convinced themselves that everything they did in high school was correct and that's why they're so "successful" today.

Essentially, if you're currently a high school student or you know someone who is in the midst of those scarring but sometimes formative years, it would behoove you to take all of this unsolicited advice with a grain of salt. People love to project. Only occasionally are they able to find useful takeaways from their experiences that could be beneficial to someone else, so don't take this advice too seriously, kids.

Keep scrolling below for this collection of comically flawed advice for budding high school students. When you're done, check out this compilation of stories about technologically incompetent humans.

'[She] wanted a legit bowl cut': 20+ Comical haircuts that hair stylists were hesitant to do

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 12:00

Many of us bring a photo of our ideal haircut to an appointment at a hair salon. It's a good way to show the hairstylist what you're looking for, and to direct them towards the right color or hairdo. But sometimes you show that picture to the stylist and they make a face. They might tell you that with your hair texture or length, your ideal cut may look way better on the model than it would on you. Some barbers will warn you multiple times that the look you're demanding isn't going to frame your face or look remotely stylish. But according to these hair stylists, a few of their wackier customers will insist on getting the most bizarre hairstyles possible.

Here's your fun fact of the day: did you know there's a style called the "jellyfish haircut"? If I had to see it, so do you. Apparently, a lot of people have been wanting this haircut. Other people insisted on getting mullets, which are sort of in fashion at the moment. You can just tell some of these hairdressers have seen some things in their many years of barbering. They can't deny their guest's most ridiculous requests, but they also may tell them not to tell anyone who gave them that haircut in the first place.

20 Construction and DIY Flaws That Lack All Common Sense

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 11:00

If you pay attention to your surroundings, you are likely to discover a series of design choices that make absolutely no sense. You know, the kind of aesthetic decisions that make you wonder who in their right mind signed off on this? You might stumble upon these design and structural flaws on the street, in a public restroom, or even in your friend's house.

Sometimes, these flaws are too hard to ignore. I distinctly remember touring the so-called "perfect apartment" and informing my roommate that there was no way we could move in there because of the bizarre bathroom layout. Perhaps some folks present thought I was being too critical, but once I demonstrated that there was barely any leg room once you sat on the toilet, everyone quickly agreed with me. Some of these flaws are not obvious at first but once they become clear, they are instant dealbreakers.

That being said, these construction and DIY mishaps are pretty impossible to miss. Keep scrolling below for the full list. When you're done, check out these tattoo artist stories.

'Sorry, we're closed': Servers Share Most Entertaining Experiences Working at Restaurants

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 10:00

Coffee mugs rattle, silverware clinks, and the grill is sizzling. You weave your way through the packed tables, refilling customers' water and delivering steaming hot plates piled with burgers and fries. Ten years in the biz, and you've got this dance down to a T. Your muscle memory serves you well as the crowd thickens. You juggle orders, argue with the kitchen, and wish your coworkers cared about their tips as much as you do. Why does it seem like you're doing everything alone? By closing time, your legs ache, your voice is hoarse, and your smile feels permanently etched on your face.

Ugh, to be a server. Can you relate? Scroll down to read an amusing and accurate thread about what it's like to wait tables in a restaurant based on stories by servers who are, frankly, tired. Next, check out this guest who checked into a hotel for 45 minutes, then demanded a full refund and argued with the staff. Customer service, huh.

'We won't serve you until you pay the bill': Dine and dash family returns to restaurant in attempt to do it again, manager makes sure they pay what they owe

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 09:00

Every restaurant or store has to deal with people attempting to leave without paying. In stores, it is easier to prevent people from doing it, because they have to leave the premises with a physical item at hand, and it is pretty simple to track the items and make sure they are not stolen. In restaurants, is it a bit more complicated, since a customer consumes the food before they actually pay for it, so they can just up and leave when no one is looking, and never pay a dime.

Surely every restaurant has dealt with a few 'dine and dashers' in their history, and sometimes they have to accept it as it is. But if a customer dares to go back to a restaurant that they once left without paying, they are risking getting recognized and having to face their actions.

Much like the family in this Reddit story, who came back to a restaurant 6 months after they dined and dashed in, thinking they would go unnoticed. Scroll down to read the full story of what happened. After that, click here for a story of a hotel guest who demanded to be allowed to sleep in the lobby.

Expectation vs. Reality: 25+ Botched products that didn't meet expectations

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 08:00

Things don't always turn out exactly as you'd hoped. Sometimes things are a little better than you thought it would be, and that's a lovely surprise. Other times, the circumstances are a bit worse than you anticipated, which is a bit of a letdown. There's nowhere that's more obvious than online shopping, where people are constantly finding the coolest clothing or toys of their dreams, only to have their hopes dashed when the item actually arrives.

Ordering clothes on the internet consistently has some of the worst results for the buyer. It's easy to fake how clothes look in their pictures online—they fit the model perfectly and look completely stunning. But then when they show up in the mail, they're a polyester nightmare that looks like it cost $2 to make. But it's not just online stuff. A lot of people have issues with the cakes they've ordered from bakeries! It's clear when a baker doesn't have the skills to make the promised dessert, but they try anyway, and the cake just looks… rough.

Have a laugh at these times when products failed to meet expectations. Up next, read about the funniest 1-star reviews people have left of our country's great national parks, like the person who was upset that "the squirrels were wildly untrained."

'You can kiss your weekend hiking trips goodbye': Manager maliciously decries worker's desire for their weekends ordering them to work 6 days a week

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 07:00

Requiring your workers to work time that they weren't scheduled to work or weren't contracted to work, while sometimes legal, isn't necessarily fair or the right thing to do. Even if the business has needs for additional coverage or is experiencing an emergency period of high load and you did need your workers to work an additional day… it would be best to—no, anyone in their right mind would—approach the subject delicately, respectfully, and tactfully.

Coming out and declaring to your workers that they should "Kiss their weekend hiking trips goodbye" or anything of that nature would be downright inadvisable… Especially when that comment is intended as a reference to personal information that was shared far earlier in the working relationship.

This manager found themselves in a situation exactly as described above when they were approached by their supervisor advising them that they and their team would be working six days a week going forward. Of course, they were worried about their staff, and they predicted that there would be a hemorrhaging of staffing levels when their workers began leaving due to what they were experiencing from the organization. This, of course, would push even higher workloads onto the remaining team, resulting in a feedback loop that would cripple their team and the organization.

The manager shared their experience with this popular online workplace community, telling of the conversation they had with their supervisor and discussing how disillusioned and worried they were about both the directive and the attitude of the management above them.

See selected screenshots of their original post below, along with the discussion with readers that followed.

'I sat in my car in disbelief: Employee shares why they got fired in LinkedIn post where they describe sleeping in their car to avoid commuting to work

Thu, 04/25/2024 - 06:00

You put years into your career, sacrificing your own happiness to get ahead, hoping someday to save enough money for an early retirement. You volunteer at work, get to your shift on time, and even take on projects that have nothing to do with your job description or department… what don't you do to make it? Then, one fateful day, the company announced layoffs. That is, if you're lucky. If you aren't, you just show up at work to find your keycard doesn't work anymore. Then the security guard informs you that you were actually fired. Wow, that's awkward.

But that's apparently what happened to this employee who shared a viral LinkedIn post where they described everything they did for their company, only to get fired. Of course, they painted a nice pretty picture of what a good worker they were so that they would be hired by someone else. Honestly, that's pretty smart. Not something I could fathom doing, but still. Scroll down to read the full post and story, and then check out this guest who didn't care about a hotel's policy, expecting a full refund after they checked in for 45 minutes.
